I walked it today with a buddy.....I ran out of water by the time I got to Cheatham Hill......trudged back seemingly forever and got turned around on a couple of trails....poorly marked. We were reminded today how soft we are at 45 years old......OUCH

You will find the crucible gets more intense, but you will learn to navigate it. Follow your heart and you will be fine. Follow your lesser instincts and the crucible becomes a grinder. I don't worry so much about you, though.

Indeed. This was part of my 90-in-90 where I set about doing something new in Indiana every day. It wasn't easy. I did love Ft. Wayne while I was there. Definitely a fun place to hang. I'm sure there is more outside downtown, we just haven't figured it out yet. Hope you two kids aren't getting into too much trouble, young man.

the first three months after moving to MA were just that: crappy. daily phone calls to my dad resulted in hearing what is now a mantra of sorts: "This is a crucible."

Of course, we often don't realize the crucible makes us stronger and prepares us for more important things ahead until well after the fact.

I just noticed your 'Ft. Wayne' tag and really enjoyed reading a few of these stories! The town is definitely hip with The Jesus, we've counted at least 16 steeples within sight from the rooftop of my buddy's downtown apartment building. I'm glad you had a great time at the half marathon - my mom is actually on the Fort4Fitness board and helps organize their activities. Happy trails professor King

Well our friends are scattered around the globe and it would be too expensive for them to buy tickets at this late a date, get hotels, ect. We want this day to be about everyone, and so we thought it best to go slowly on the wedding. But just the wedding :)

What I don't get about all this is.....why wait?! Why can't it be 12/31/11 instead?! And I can also attest to the fact that "when its right, you just know"....we were engaged within 2 months of dating and have been married 29+ years, thru 3 children.

One of the very fun things about this has been hearing stories from people about when they fell in love. It's one of the great unifying forces on the planet, for sure.

I remember saying "this is crazy" as well. People sometimes criticize "young" love, but Stephanie and I don't care. We knew within the first month that we were going to get married. I'm pumped for you!
