8/16: The Journal of Apple II Programming

~~Seven of~~ the nine issues of 8/16: The Journal of Apple II Programming have been scanned and posted. 8/16 was published by Ross W. Lambert’s Ariel Publishing, and was the predecessor to 8/16-Central. Lambert put out a total of nine issues, running monthly from March to November 1990, before selling the publication to Tom Weishaar who re-launched it as 8/16-Central in December 1990.

~~I’m currently missing two issues (No’s. 6 and 7) and all of the media from the diskette subscription version. Loans or contributed scans/images would be appreciated.~~

The Apple /// COBOL development package has been posted. Available for download are scans of the manuals and packaging, and disk images of the five included floppy disks. Apple /// COBOL was developed by Micro Focus, Inc., and introduced by Apple in 1982 with a retail price of $500.

Washington Apple Pi Apple /// DVD Reclassified as Public Domain

Dave Ottalini of the Washington Apple Pi user group announced today on Facebook that their Apple /// DVD, which formerly sold for $35, is now reclassified as public domain. Here’s the text of David’s announcement:

Folks – I’d like to let you know that I’ve decided to put the old Apple /// DVD into the public domain so that the information there can be freely accessed. If Mike or anyone cares to upload that material they are welcome!

Note that the video DVD of using the Apple /// in ten EZ Lessons can also go into the PD as far as I’m concerned.

I meant to do a little write up here after I added these archives last month and totally spaced it. Hat tip to Ken Gagne, both for the initial suggestion to get these files back on the web and reminding me that I’d not added a post to the front page here.

Originally these files lived over at A2Central, but seem to have disappeared from there at some point. A little digging revealed that no complete versions existed on the ‘net anywhere that I could find, so I’ve reposted them here.
