Targus Versavu appeared to be a strange name for a company that produces covers for the iPad2. But when I read the features of this cover keyboard and the feedback from the people, I ordered it immediately. It has satisfied me till the core.

I simply love the material of the cover both ways. From inside it protects my screen and from outside it takes care of huge damages due to fall. The case can be used as a stand in different suitable angles and the keyboard is also lovable. The keys are nice to work on and they are thin and adequately placed. It is one of the most comfortable keyboards I have come across.

All the ports are open for usage and I have never felt any issue with connecting or charging with the cover on. It cost me $73 but I am pretty happy because it has mastered the three basic functions every iPad2 user would want.

Apple clearly wants to add own instant message feature to the iPhone, because they recently have filed a patent about it.

The recent filing is entitled "Portable Electronic Device for Instant Messaging", and includes methods for sending, receiving, and viewing ongoing conversations. The planned GUI is similar to Apple's current interface for SMS.

iPhone IM has been missing from the cell phone to the dismay of many users. The patent filing shows Apple has "instant message" on its mind.

At the recent launch of the iPhone SDK, AOL demonstrated an AOL Instant Messenger client, but it isn't allowed to run in the background, which normal IM applications rely on.

Apple iPhone Soft Polycarbonate Slim fit Case. This is a great, slim phone case for the iPhone. It doesn't increase the size of the iPhone by more than a few millimeters. The case is rigid yet flexible and does not have a hard plastic feel to it, it has a nice rubberized grip to it, but is not soft and rubbery like other skin cases and does not attract lint and is easy to slide in and out of your pocket. The edges of it seem sharp but it has yet to leave a scratch from removing it from it's case to dock it. Does not fit in the iPhone Dock, but it does fit in the universal Dock with the case on. Overall, it is a recommended accessory for iPhone.

ICEsoft Technologies has unveiled their open source ICEfaces Project this week which powers especially iPhone. Demonstration of an iPhone application which is used to order taxi from iPhone while on business trip, and taking status reports was really cool. Another interesting project was a program that allows users to “push” conference slides from a desktop to an iPhone.

ICEfaces itself is an Ajax framework that enables developers to easily create server centric rich internet applications in pure Java. The system works by extending JSF (java server faces) which is a component model for JavaEE development.

While working in standart JSF programming environment, you have the addition of Automatic AJAX which handles back-end AJAX Framework functionality for them transparently. In addition, a feature known as “AJAX Push” automatically takes care of synchronization between the desktop and the mobile device.

While iPhone was presented as a great platform, Steve Markya CTO of ICEsoft Technologies said it had some deficiencies like memory constraints, small footprint, and inability to support drag-and-drop.

iPhone users who are struggling with the slow EDGE network, will be happy to know that AT&T got approved by the FCC to purchase 12 MHZ of a 700-MHZ spectrum for $2.5 billion from Aloha Partners.

It means that AT&T could use UMTS/HSUPA, which is a much, much faster alternative to EDGE. In comparison, EDGE is limited to 50 to 110 kilobytes per second (1024 kilobytes in a megabyte) - whereas HSUPA has a download rate of 3 MBPS (megabytes per second), and upload of 1.5 MBPS.
