Make sure that you have all the prerequisites required to install windows 7 on your Mac.

Prerequisites:

• You have installed the firmware updates .If you haven’t please click on the Apple button then software update.
• A Windows 7 DVD.
• Snow leopard or OS X leopard DVD of yours.
• Minimum 30GB free space in Your Hard drive. Not all the space is required to install the windows, but if you want to use other software, you will need this space.
• This, process is not required but for the safety of your data, you should have a complete and up to date time machine back up for your Mac OS X.
• An hour in your hand. If something goes wrong it could take 4 hours almost.
• An optional requirement is to backing up your updated OS X. If you make any mistake during partitioning drives, your data may be wiped out.

Installation Process:

Step 1:

First of all, close all running application including the programs running in the apple menu. You can forget about Dock or Dashboard. You may keep these running.

Step 2:

Then, open the Finder and navigate to Applications, then click Utilities and open the Boot Camp Assistant by double clicking.

Step 3:

Now, select Continue on the initial screen. Skip the term that a window 7 is not a possible OS for the system.

Step 4:

This is an important part, so do this carefully. You have to decide how much space you are going to allocate for the windows. As I discussed before you should allocate 30GB for it, 20GB at least.

To allocate the space for windows 7, click the divider between Mac OS X and Windows, then drag the divider as it requires.

Now, if you gave enough space to the Windows, Please click on the Partition button. Partitioning will not take much of your time. If everything goes smoothly, you may proceed to the next step.

Then put your windows 7 DVD in the DVD rom. Start your installation process.

Step 8:

Your windows 7 startup process will start and MAC will restart. After that you have to select the drive where you want to install the windows. Then, select the drive with BOOTCAMP’s name on it. Don’t select anything else, It may cause a big problem, or remove your OS X. Then select the link- Drive options (advanced)

Step 9:

Keep selecting the BOOTCAMP, click the FORMAT link and click OK.

After done installing, you should install update and drivers for windows. To do those connect your computer to internet and search the update, after clicking the windows button. If your update has been downloaded properly .your system will restart and install automatically.

Step 11:

If you check for sound, you’ll find there are no sound drivers installed. Put your OS X leopard or the Snow Leopard DVD in your DVD drive and Click Run Setup.exe. If you are prompted “remote install Mac OS X”, close it and remove CD, insert the CD again. This time click “Open folder to view files”. Go to the Bootcamp folder, and click setup.exe.

Step 12:

Once you have accepted the license agreement, click apple software update for windows. Then, click Install. Before installing it makes sure “Apple Software Update for Windows” is checked.

Step 13:

The notification will be shown in the right side of your desktop that it is installing the drivers. Once the installation is finished, click Finish.
