It's unclear if the panel is the same as Apple's, but it represents the densest ever display on a regularly sized, non-Apple handset....

The two have been pared back to 192 cores and 96 cores respectively but promise more performance than the parts they replace. The Quadro 2000 is said to be about 50 percent faster in geometry rendering than the FX 1800 it replaces, while the Quadro 600 is about twice as capable as earlier starter workstation cards....

That, of course, is making many of us in the Apple world curious about when the next version of the suite will appear on the market. Many Mac pundits believe the next edition will be iLife '11, and we've already seen several of the rumored release dates fly past without sign of the new iLife.

Now some sharp-eyed Apple fans have noticed that there's a book listed on the German Amazon site with the title "iLife '11: Digital pictures, movies, music and more" and a release date of December, 2010.

The translated description notes that the suite is entirely 64-bit, and that iPhoto will receive integration with social networking. iWeb has been "rewritten" from the ground up, and iDVD is no longer included with the suite. There's mention of a "new application," but no word on what the function or name of the new member of the suite will be.

The red banner on the cover mockup at left reads "iPhoto, iMovie and more, with Apps for Mac, iPhone 4, iPod and iPad," which implies that iOS versions of the applications will be available as well. At this time, of course, iMovie is available for iOS, and it would not be much of a stretch to assume that iOS-compatible versions of the other applications could be developed. After all, Apple made an iPad version of iWork available on day one.

The book is written by Uwe Nerger, who has no other published titles to his name. That brings up the question how an unpublished author has been given access to a suite of applications that many published authors of Apple tomes have not seen. Take this rumor with a fist-sized grain of salt.

More evidence of a new “mystery application”

It’s been a while since we’ve seen an update to Apple’s suite of iLife software (January 2009 to be exact) but evidence is mounting that a new and significant update is on its way. Earlier this Summer, reports surfaced that the next iteration of iLife would include the following features:
- All applications will be 64-bit
- Improvements in iPhoto faces & places
- Improving the integration of social networks
- iWeb will be totally renewed
- New application (mystery!)
- Disappearance of iDVD
- MobileMe gallery in beta (with faces & places)
And now it appears that Amazon UK has a new book listing for iLife ‘11 due to ship in November. Now we don’t speak German, but the good folks over at 9to5Mac translate the red band below as follows, “iPhoto, iMovie and more with apps for Mac, iPhone 4, iPod and iPad.” Intriguing.

But wait, there’s more!
Amazon Germany has the following summary for the next iteration of iLife software.
iLife 11 may be from the content is completely revised and written in 64 bits. Improvements are mainly in iPhoto and the integration of social networks. iWeb is completely rewritten, and iDVD will disappear, but there are also still a new application. In this book the reader learns all about the new multimedia suite. New features, new applications. What it does, what changes and how do I get the finest results. Want to do for all amateur photographers and videographers, video enthusiasts and all those rich movies and photos and DVDs, web and social networks have to do.
But one final thing to consider before you take this as the gospel, the author Uwe Nerger doesn’t have any other published titles to his credit, so the odds that he’d receive inside info about Apple’s upcoming iLife update seems a bit sketchy.

Etc: Governments fear that a new iPhone app that mashes augmented reality with the ADS-B passenger airline tracking system could "aid terrorists" in targeting flights.

Governments fear that a new iPhone app that mashes augmented reality with the ADS-B passenger airline tracking system could "aid terrorists" in targeting flights.

Using the iPhone’s accelerometer iSlice Golf allows users to practice their golf swing and receive feedback on swing plane and clubface angles at six critical positions and finally learn what it feels like to hit powerful golf shots just like the Pros do.

iSlice Golf discloses the importance of a neutral grip, the correct hand and forearm motion, explains what an on plane swing feels like, and the positioning of the clubface throughout the swing plus a whole lot more important details. The app also contains useful calibration instructions that ensure accurate measure of swing plane and clubface angles.
“Duncan is one of the best young coaches in Australia, he has had great success teaching golfers of all abilities and now brings this expertise to the iPhone to help fix the slice. The most critical component for teaching success is for the student to be able to feel the correct moves, by practicing with their iPhone users will finally know what the Pros feel like” – said Neil Simpson, Head Professional and Coach to US PGA Tour Player Nick O’Hern.

[]
Attributed to the Attenborough Design Group, a fictional collective whose raison d’etre is to imbue natural self-defense and survival-of-the-fittest mechanisms into gadgets, the “Floppy Legs” has one major trick up its sleeve that Apple’s own disk drive didn’t: if you spill a liquid in its vicinity, it will quickly spring to its feet with an air of alarm.
I’ve got to tell you, I wish modern Apple equipment did this. The ever encroaching flood of a freshly-spilled beer has drowned not one, but two of my Apple Wireless Keyboards to date.

Heck, it’s not even for me: the only thing growing out of my coffee table are several blossoming fungal pillars where slices of pizza were once let to be.
Even so, we can’t help but admit this conceptual modular table designed by Roberto Delponte of Stratodesign, which — I think — really does a lot to highlight the iPad’s almost zen minimalist gorgeousness of aesthetic.

Called the Bonsai Wood Version, one end of the wooden table has been designed to hold a flower pot or bonsai tree, while the other one is built with a hollow in which to ensconce an iPad, positioning the display perfectly flush with the center of the table.
I’m not really sure what you’re supposed to put in the middle of the table. I’d probably fill it with beer bottle caps and lint-encrusted jellybeans, but your mileage may well vary: perhaps an iPad Camera Connection Kit and dock connector cable?

Through his research, Smith has discovered that some third-party apps, including apps for Amazon, Chase Bank, Target and Sam’s Club, actually send out the iPhone’s UDID and your personal details in plaintext, although some of these were secured with SSL. Engadget says that although its fair to say that UDIDs are often used by apps to store personal data and combat piracy, Smith is concerned that a database could be created linking the UDIDs to GPS coordinates or GeoIP, thereby confirming the user's location to possibly unsavoury people or companies. Engadget points out, however, that transmitting the UDID and account information together publicly is forbidden. Smith concludes his research report by likening Apple’s UDID to the unique identifier of Intel’s Pentium III processor, which raised privacy issues several years ago, resulting in government enquiries, which resulted in Intel providing a software fix that enabled individuals to manually disable the chip’s ID, prior to Intel removing the chip from all future CPUs.

The Market Is Getting Hammered Thanks To Big Tech Stocks
