Unable to start application server in Peoplesoft.

While trying to install Peoplesoft HCM 9.2 along with Peopletools 8.53 on Linux on my Laptop and I faced the following issue.

I have reset the password for PS user but still its complaining about logging in.

The following is my configuration.

I am able to connect to the database as ps/people/sysadm user but cant seem to move forward from here.

Solution:
======================

I resolved this issue. It seems the PS user account was locked.
The solution is as follows.
SQL> select ACCTLOCK from psoprdefn where oprid='PS';

ACCTLOCK

SQL> update psoprdefn set ACCTLOCK=0 where oprid='PS';

1 row updated.

SQL> commit;

Commit complete.

SQL> select ACCTLOCK from psoprdefn where oprid='PS';

ACCTLOCK

0

Peoplesoft Data Mover error:

While working with creating the db manually using psdmtx utility on Linux I kept getting the following error while loading the tables.

Unsuccessful completion

This error perplexed me. Then I ran the same utility on Windows. Thats when I got the following error.

Character Length Semantis (CLS) Feature is not enabled.

The solution is to make the change as follows:

alter system set NLS_LENGTH_SEMANTICS=CHAR scope=both;

and bounce the db.

Weblogic PSU patch error unrecognized patch ID: FCX7

While applying the p18040640_1036_Generic.zip patch I kept getting the above error.

There was no issue with my command it was fine.

./bsu.sh -prod_dir=/home/oracle/Oracle/Middleware/wlserver_10.3/ -patchlist=T5F1 -verbose -log=patch.log -log_priority=trace -install

I noticed that after I ran the above command the following directory{MW_HOME} got created.

Thats when I realised that its looking for the patch files in /home/oracle/Oracle/Middleware/utils/bsu/{MW_HOME}/utils/bsu/cache_dir.

I moved the files there and voila it worked.

Startup Shutdown R12.2

I have followed the blog http://ltd.kentw.co.uk/technical/managing-oracle-e-business-suite-r12-2/ to setup this on my machine.

In R12.2 there are two filesystems. One is the run (runtime) and the other patch (patching).

I have created a vis.sh file similar to one given in the above site.

Here I have changed the values of DBFS and OID according to my environment.

I have placed this file in the home directory of the oravis user.

The following files were downloaded from Oracle E-delivery website.

Unzip the V35215-01 files to create the startCD directory.

After investigating I noticed that the /etc/hosts had a different ip assigned for the server

I changed the ip to point to the correct ip address.
[root@starworld Desktop]# vi /etc/hosts

and then started the listener again and Voila it worked.

After installing OSB 11.1.1.4 in the same domain as SOA I got the following error.

Change the config.xml in the directory DOMAIN_HOME/config as follows:

wlsbjmsrpDataSource AdminServer,osb_server1

jdbc/wlsbjmsrpDataSource-jdbc.xml

this needs to be changed to the following

wlsbjmsrpDataSource

jdbc/wlsbjmsrpDataSource-jdbc.xml

After this the AdminServer and osb_server1 Managed Server started successfully.

Errors Encountered during installation of

Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 (10.1.2.0.2) on OEL 5.4 x86.

Today while installing the above I encountered two errors.

1. I got an error libXp.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory. For this I had to install the rpm libXp-1.0.0-8.1.el5.i386.rpm.

2. I got an error during Configuration assistant "OC4J Instance Configuration Assistant" failed

For this I created a softlink as follows and retryed and it worked.

I encountered this error while using RMAN CONVERT DATABASE COMMAND. The exact error was as follows:

I was trying to put the converted files on z:\ which was a mapped drive. After opening an SR I came to know that I was to use UNC naming i.e. I had to use \\servername\sharename in the place of z:\.

Windows NT to Linux Migration - Unable to login to Self Service

While doing the migration to Linux I was stumped by an error. I was not able to login using Self Service but was able to login using dev60/f60cgi. This error kept haunting me and giving headaches for two weeks.

The error was as follows:

I had enabled jserv logging but it was not giving any insights. After 2 weeks of intense followup with Oracle Support it turned out that while the copy of $JAVA_TOP/COM is done from Windows to Linux the COM directory needs to be moved to lowercase i.e. com as Windows is case insensitive and Linux is not.

Oracle Support has created a metalink note 604529.1 which is not published yet.

ORA-12505 TNS:listener could not resolve SID given in connect description

Recently we changed the port of the DB from default 1521 to 1532. After this change it was noticed that clients could not connect although tnsping was working.

Metalink note 111911.1 points to registration of the instance name with the listener. Did the steps in the note and clients could connect to the instance.
Reason is prior to Oracle 8i, a listener was statically configured (listener.ora) to service a given set of SIDs. From 8i, PMON dynamically registers a database service with the listener.

UTL_MAIL package gives ORA-29261: bad argument

I found metalink note 339445.1 which says this can be due to two reasons.

1. SMTP_OUT_SERVER is not set as a database parameter.
2. This error can also occur if the SUBJECT parameter in the UTL_MAIL call is omitted.

In our case it was the first "SMTP_OUT_SERVER".

Added the parameter to the initialization parameter file and bounced the database.

Unable to login to Self Service after applying patch 5478710 and 5225940

On 11.5.9 CU2 after applying the latest Autoconfig and RapidClone patches I was unable to login to the self -service. After searching metalink, I found note 342580.1. As per the note, APPS_JDBC_URL needs to be commented out.
