Appytimes Episode 87 - Steve Jobs 1955-2011

<itunes:subtitle>Brad and Tim read through some listener tweets and emails and give a few of their own thoughts.......</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Hello App. fans and than you for downloading.Last week saw the sad death of Steve Jobs. Now here at Appytimes studios we have often had little digs at the tech genius and his company, but if you know us then you also know that we fully acknowledge what Steve did for the industry we love so much. We out out the call for your thoughts on the great man via tweets and emails, you didn't let us down. Here, we go through your replies and we also chuck our own opinions in too. Now please bear in mind that both Brad and myself had been on the sauce and if you find our regular giggling fits childish and disrespectful then we apologise and we of course mean no disrespect. But then, we are Appytimes and you now what a pair of rogues we are. RIP Steve Jobs from all here at Appytimes Towers. </itunes:summary>

Appytimes Episode 86 - Epic Failbook

 <itunes:subtitle>Facebook Sucks</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Hello there App. fans and thank you for downloading. This week we intended to keep things a little lighter after last week's seriousness but it soon becomes apparent that the main subject of the show this week could have serious consequences for all those devoted, or even those who only occasionally visit the site. We do cover other bits of news and we even have another wonderful review from the ever acerbic Lee Medcalf who is seriously going to give himself an embolism if he doesn't step away from the ipad2. So, in a nutshell, Facebook has just had a massive update and once again everyone is up in arms but I think this time they may have a point. As always, Brad is far better placed to explain exactly why we should all be concerned when using Facebook and he gives us some excellent pointers and advice on how to keep one step ahead of Facebook. I myself have even started making some of these changes and over the next few weeks I shall be removing pretty much everything I have ever uploaded to them So please enjoy the show, (by the end I am thoroughly depressed and pissed off which really comes across in my tone of voice) pass it on to your friends who may learn that Facebook is in fact NOT the greatest thing in the World and just be aware. Until next time……. Keep Appy. </itunes:summary>

Appytimes Episode 85 - Mummy, not mummy, peasants.

<itunes:subtitle>This week we have beer. Well, I do anyway</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Hello there App. Fans and thank you for downloading. A packed show for you this week : We start with Brads news that Netflix are offering a UK service called ‘Quikster' which is rather an unfortunate name as soon becomes apparent. Tim as always doesn't have much in the way of news but does come up with a corker of a ‘On This Day In tech' and then this leads nicely to our very first Appytimes competition. Full details are in the Podcast but basically we need someone to design a new Avatar for the ‘On This Day In Tech' Twitter feed. The winner of this contest will receive something very rare indeed. We then go on to talk a little about how frustrating the ‘Android' system can be, is letting our kids watch us play violent video games really that irresponsible and then we really have to take extra care as we discuss the next subject. This weeks App. review is ‘Sheep Impact', a highly enjoyable Android game that is both amusing and clever. We then take the piss out of Steven Seagal . A nice audio review of the Google+ App. by our friend ‘FakeIgniz' which was originally sent to us in July (Sorry mate) and then some rounding up bollocks completes the show. Until next time……. Keep Appy. </itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary> Well hello there App. fans and thank you for downloading…. This weeks show is more of a catch up than anything else but we do cover some bits of news that some people may find interesting. Tim is like an excited puppy this week and poor old Brad can hardly get a word in edgeways because of his incessant chatter, I think it's because Tim just got a brand new TV and is pretty made up with it. On a related subject, Brad gives advice on viewing media through a NAS drive and then shows what a geek he is by explaining that he has created another Hackingtosh (Smartarse git) We also have another review from the wonderful Lee Medcalf (that bloke what does that Blackdog Podcast that we all love) I think it's called ‘A thousand Herozzzzzzzz' or something. And then we bugger off and do something far less productive. So until next time……. Keep Appy. </itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary> Hello there App. Fans and thank you for downloading. This week we have a fairly short show but we hear that this is what you like….. and besides, poor Brad wasn't feeling particularly well but to be honest I prefer the shorter shows. It keeps us snappy and allows more time for us to watch TV. Since being promoted at work I'm afraid my Podcast listening has dropped dramatically and I'm unable to listen to our own masterpieces let alone my own favourites. We cover some news, do some other stuff and then say goodbye. So until next time…….. Keep Appy </itunes:summary>

<itunes:subtitle>This week we go down the lazy route and put something out that we recorded ages ago</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Hello there App. Fans and thank you for downloading. This weeks show is a blast from the blast. Yes dear listeners, because we have not recorded much for the last couple of weeks it was decided that we would release something that we recorded the first night Brad and got together as a Podcasting phenomenon. Now bear in mind that we made this the day after the night before so Lord knows how it sounds. At the end of the show we have tagged on a piece sent in to us by the Knight of the show Sir Arsehole of Douchebag (Steven Cogswell) who sent in a lengthy review about something which I haven't been arsed to listen to (a bit like our show) So enjoy this cop-out of a show and hopefully our next recording will be the genuine thing. So until next time…….. Keep Appy </itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary> Well hello there app. fans and thank you for downloading this latest episode. This week Brad and myself talk sensibly for about five minutes and then are reduced into childish smutty innuendos that have nothing to do with any tech of any kind, but we don't really care coz that's the way we roll. I cannot remember exactly what we talk about because we recorded this show a couple of weeks ago and I'm afraid there were delays in getting the show out, I also haven't had a chance to listen to it in order to write down shownotes (how can I write that with a straight face?) Be prepared to experience our show maybe skipping a week here or there in the future. Recently, Brad and myself have become very busy in both our social and work lives and I'm afraid we are both finding it a little more difficult to dedicate the time we once could. But we believe that the shows we do put out will be just as awesome as ever and as always we do appreciate your support and input. So until next time...... Keep Appy. </itunes:summary>

<itunes:subtitle>Brad shows off and Tim has a melt-down</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Hello App fans and thank you for downloading episode 78. This week we spend a fair bit of time talking about Brads new toy, he's a lucky fella and in no way does Timmy come across as jealous. No way whatsover. After that we cover some news or stuff we found on the internet at the last minute, and then we look at an app. recommended to us by our Knight of the Podcast Sir Asshole of Douchbag Steven Cogswell, some sort of dream recorder which must work as it's in the store. We play Boz's boo (he of the Here Goes Nothing podcast) where he agrees with me (the man has taste too) and then Tim blathers his way through an app. review that Brad is seriously interested in. With thanks once again to the lovely lady Mary who sponsors 'This Day In Tech' and all other contributors who help to make Appytimes possible, we love you. Until next time..... Keep Appy. </itunes:summary>

We have a relatively short show for you this week, I guess that after we had inserted some great audio comments/reviews from the wonderful Tim (@Kingisaaclinksr) and our patron saint Sir Douchebag Cogswell (@Undigestedhusks), there wasn't much else for us to talk about. Sir Cogs has outdone himself this time and if the sound of the penny dropping comes through as clearly through your speakers/headphones as it did while we were listening then prepare for comic timing gold, and young Tims offering this week is also bloody brilliant. Thank you to you both. Please feel free to send in any audio comments, reviews or tech queries and we will answer them passionately if not accurately. I have no idea what it sounds like as I haven't had time to listen but I reckon it'll probably sound awesome. I can't remember much of what was covered but there is a review from Tim for Tinywings and a hilarious review of the ipad two from Lee and Darren of 'The Blackdog Podcast'A special thanks goes to that douchebag Sir Cogs for his brilliant artwork. We have some bits of news and some stats about Twitter which celebrates its fifth birthday but Brad is less impressed with these numbers than myself. We have an amazing “on this day in tech” which even impresses Brad and then we go through an awesome email from Liam (Kiraniumbra) on Twitter who asks about Mac stuff. Hear us talking about stuff we don't know much about. So that's this weeks packed show. We really enjoyed recording this week and we hope you love it as much as us. Until next time...... He has also just become a Father for the first time and Brad and myself would like to congratulate Danny and Mrs Danny on the newest arrival to the household. Nice one. <itunes:subtitle>This week Tim looks back to a time when Appytimes first aired</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Due to personal reasons (most of us are aware of them) there will be no new Appytimes for a couple of weeks so in the meantime, you're being blessed/cursed with some very old Appytimes episodes. Brad and myself were talking the other day and it was actually his idea to do this (I think he needed a laugh and I have to agree that it is quite amusing listening back)So for the next cople of weeks I'll put out some old shows and you'll hear how it was BT (Before Thornron) and why it was obvious even from this early stage that I need a co-host. So please enjoy.Until next time.........keep AppyAnd we all love you Bread. xxx </itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary> Hello there app fans and thank you for downloading. This weeks show starts with a grovelling apology to one of our faithful listeners and then it's business as usual and we talk bollocks for the duration. Brad talks us through the newly accepted Appytimes app for the ithingy which we both agree is far prettier than the Android equivalent but is also just as free so it's all good there then. Timmy has another look at “Words with Friends” which was covered in an old show and then we help our great mate Chris (@Berty72) to buy a gaming PC case (well, I say we but it was Brad who did all the research). We enjoyed recording this one and we hope you'll enjoy listening Until next time ….... Keep Appy </itunes:summary>

Appytimes Episode 60 - Sleeps to Christmas and Met Office

<itunes:subtitle>It's December and Timmy covers a Christmas app, while Brad looks at a weather app.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Hello App. fans and thank you for downloading. This weeks show was actually recorded during the day as Tim was recovering from having his appendix out and had two weeks off work. Also, Timmys ankle-biters were home from school and consequently you may hear evidence of that. In fact, we make use of them later in the show. This week, what with it being the start of December, Tim looks at an old favourite Christmas app. of his, "Sleeps to Christmas", this is basically an app. telling you how many sleeps there are until Crimbo. Brad looks at a very handy application called "Met Office", which is all about the weather and that really is handy as at the moment, Britain is experiencing a very cold snap. Nice find there Brad. We cover some news but have no listener feed back because no one sent any this week So until next time...... Keep Appy. <itunes:subtitle>'Barrr' and 'Skyfire' are reviewed, and we talk about our new home.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Hello there App. fans and welcome to episode 57 of Appytimes.... and what an episode it is, for today we are now part of the GeekPlanet Online family and what an honour it is. This weeks show is a little self-indulgent because we are genuinly excited about the future so please bear with us while we squee about. After our big announcement we talk about a couple of apps. Barrr for the Android and Skyfire for the ithingy (and a slight caveat concerning this amazing browser.) We also talk about a few one star reviews from the Anroid app but to be honest they really don't compare to the beauties we see so often on the Apple device. Come on Android app fans, lets have some real classics (I wonder if Maria has an Android?)In the news section we look at Steve Balmer becoming even richer than before, The delay of the alleged Google Nexus 2, an Android theme for gmail, Apple still can't sort out thier alarm with DST, Is Steve Jobs sexy? Opera Mobile and the new version of Flash available and Gingerbread is coming. In feed back we look at a couple of emails from Eric of Texas, we play another fine audio from Tim (kingisaaclinksr) and we don't even rip the piss out of him this time. We spend a bit time sucking up to Sir Stephen Cogswell once more because we know he loves it.And then we just finish up with more spiel about our news (coz we're quite excited you know)So until next time...... keep Appy.Email the show: @AppytimesShow.
Appytimes Episode 56 - Dropbox & VLC

<itunes:subtitle>We cover all 3 versions of Dropbox, and Cogswell gives us a great review of VLC for iPhone.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Hello there App. fans and thank you for downloading. This week we are covering an application that really has made Podcasting easier for Brad and myself. This wonderful free application basically allows you to share files over the internet, and if any of you tigers out there make your own Podcasts the way we do (not in the same room,) then you really should look into getting this application. Trust us, It's aweeeesooooome. I cover the ios version and Brad gives us some great pointers about the Android version (look out for our new Android jingle-Brad, you are a genius).Speaking of Android, we briefly chat about a great youtube video doing the rounds. This video looks at the top 25 games available for the brilliant operating system. Thanks to Sir Steven Cogswell we have another gem from the wonderful Maria and her thoughtful itunes reviews and he also gives us a great in-depth review of VLC for the iphone (something I was hoping to do myself this month but unfortunately our little 2nd gen ipods just don't have the balls to deal with this app.I have an embarrassing body malfunction that I thought my microphone wouldn't pick up and then I big myself up about the part I played as a guest on the podcast "Greatest Events In Sporting History" from Simply Syndicated (it's all about me you know)So with that It just remains for me to say: until next time........ <itunes:subtitle>'Cut the rope' and 'Angry Birds:Halloween Edition' feature on this weeks show. Plus the usual nonsense.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Hello there App. fans and thank you for downloading. This week we cover an application each. I take a bumbling look at "Cut the Rope" which is hugely popular on the app. store at the moment and Brad talks about Angry Birds the Halloween edition and discuss whether its worth the 59p they are asking for it.Our great mate Andrew (@Uraifenn) reviews three apps. for the Android... "Documents to Go, Dropbox and Evernote". Thanks Andrew, that gives us a couple of ideas for future shows. In the news we cover the release of VLC for the ithingy (but only 3GS and 3rd gen ipods upward), Android announces 100,000 downloads from the Market, a warning from Daniel (@Dangelus) about some of the app reviews being paid for reviews and a general warning about a dodgy so called "phone tracker". We discuss the merits of playing games on the ithingy over the Android and an Android equivalent of the ipod. And we also get very cryptic over some news that we have but are not in a position to announce properly yet. Mwahahahahahaha.Well that's about it for now. <itunes:summary> ello App. fans and thank you for downloading. On this weeks show we were delayed in recording due to an eventful evening on Twitter and by the time it had all calmed down we decided we had been on for so long that we would let a couple of our listeners review their own favourites and Brad and myself just sit back and take it easy. We have reviews from Tim Wetzel (@kingisaaclinksr) and Andrew Dickerson (@uraifenn). We also have some great email feedback from Dean (@DeanoBurner) who lets us know his views on the Marvel app we recently covered and then we eventually get around to covering some news..... Oh and Brad goes off on one about Wired.com but please bear in mind that this show was recorded a few days before the shit hit the fan.We also spend a bit of time going through some one star reviews and Brad comes across possibly the greatest one star review in the history of itunes reviews.
