Takashi Amano is aan een nieuwe uitdaging begonnen en niet zo’n kleintje ook. Deze uitdaging is namelijk: W710 x D110 x H120 (cm) groot! ADA heeft hierover 2 video’s geupload.

A series of short documentary films featuring the creation of giant Nature Aquarium layouts by Takashi Amano, exhibited inside Sumida Aquarium in Tokyo Sky Tree Town, will be delivered through ADA view.
(English subtitles will be available from May 22.)

The first episode features the preparatory-simulation process for bringing this magnificent project into reality. It reveals the inside story of producing the large scale Nature Aquarium.

http://www.thegreenmachineonline.com This 150 x 150 x 75 cm Nature Aquarium by famous aquascaper James Findley is growing in beautifully – it is definitely one of the most stunning works we have ever had on display. Call in store to see it, or watch this space for more coverage.

Of course, nothing comes close to seeing it for yourself, but because we know that not everyone can travel to see us regularly, we will be releasing more images of this beautiful Nature Aquarium as it progresses.

Many thanks to James Findley, the creator of Nature’s Chaos and founder of The Green Machine – the aquascape is a true testament to his skill and artistic ability.

Here we introduce a W180xD60xH60cm tank, using Unzan stone as a main layout material. The layout was created on February 22, 2012, and we uploaded the layout production process video.

Another Iwagumi layout was produced on September, 2011. Unzan stones were arranged in a nice balance in this layout. We just skimmed the soils and plants on the surface, and replaced with new soils for planting new plants. In the central part between two main stones, Amano planted Lilaeopsis, considering the light does not reach much in this space.
A lot more information in layout creation! Don’t miss it.

The growing progress after the production of layout is going to be introduced on ADA VIEW Vol. 161.

Een aantal zeer goede video’s met betrekking tot aquascaping. Een mooie bron van inspiratie en bekijk daarom ook zeker even de andere video’s van “The art of the planted aquarium 2012″.

The Art of the Planted Aquarium is a live aquascaping contest, held every year during Heimtiermesse in Hanover, Germany. In the second part of my report I present aquariums of the XL category (dimensions 100x50x50cm) which took places 6th – 10th. There are no fish in the contest tanks – only aquarium plants, driftwood and stones. This is done on purpose, as fish would distract the viewers from admiring the aquascapes.

This is a driftwood layout with a size of W120xD45xH60cm, created on February 22, 2012. This is a convex composition layout. This time we took a different approach for making the layout. First we decide the position of driftwood, and arranged stones under the driftwood.
There was a request from a seminar participant to Mr. Amano, making the layout with a limited amount of planting. Let’s see how he answered this difficult challenge!

ADA view distributes the videos of layout making by Takashi Amano on every
Saturday during March. And it gets a lot of views and comments via Facebook and
Youtube!
Tomorrow, the new video of W120xD45xH60cm driftwood layout making during the
Training seminar will be released on ADA view. There was a request from a
seminar participant to Mr. Amano, making the layout with a limited amount of
planting. Let’s see how he answered this difficult challenge tomorrow!

——————————————————————————–

Q) My Glossostigma grows upwards. Is it because of insufficient nutrients in
the substrate? Or is there any other reason?

A) The main reason why Glossostigma grows upwards instead of spreading
sideways is inadequate light intensity rather than insufficient nutrients in
the substrate. Glossostigma also grows upwards if it is placed in the shade of
stem plants or other aquatic plants. For instance, growing Glossostigma in a
60cm tank requires the light intensity produced by two units of the NA Lamp
Twin 36W or four units of the NA Lamp 20W. On top of this, the use of Power
Sand, a substrate material effective in providing additional nutrients, will
help the plant grow large, healthy leaves.

Opnieuw een mooie video van Takashi Amano die een aquarium van 180cm aan het scapen is.

Here we introduce a 180x60x60cm aquarium layout, produced on 22 February, 2012.
It was mainly consisted with rock arrangement and Wabi-kusa.
The layout production process is broadcasted.

This Iwagumi layout was created on September, 2011. We kept the stone untouched, and rearranged the plant in this aquarium. Wabi-kusa were placed in the slopes where the soils are easy to crumble with normal planting way, or the place with thin layer of substrate where the normal plants cannot spread their roots. Unreleased Wabi-kusa Utricularia graminifolia was introduced for the first time. The growing progress after the production of layout is going to be introduced on ADA VIEW Vol. 147.

・Riccia fluitans
・Glossostigma elatinoides
・Wabi-Kusa Utricularia reticulata (Sample item)
・Eleocharis acicularis

Q) “ADA view” video introduced the attaching of willow moss that has been
finely chopped with a knife to the stone. Will the willow moss really attach to
the stone by this method?

ADA view: A 180cm aquarium tank with Unzan stone and Wabi-kusa
http://youtu.be/WhvzRtUYJZ0

A) The layout introduced in the “ADA view” uses Unzan Stone which has been
newly released recently. This volcanic stone has a rough surface and holds
fine pieces of willow moss easily. Although not all the willow moss pieces will
be attached to stone by the method introduced in our magazine, some of them will
naturally stay on the stone and start growing. Please take note that this way of
attaching willow moss cannot be used for stones with a smooth surface. This is
