The new version (v1.4.5) of AVE AppFactory includes new features and bug fixes:

• Apps have been recompiled for optimal playback on iOS 5.1 devices with perfect rendering of text and graphics on the new iPad’s Retina display.
• Integrate 144 by 144 pixels HD icons for the new iPad’s Retina display.
• Added a new mechanism to ensure that apps no longer rely on the UDID to uniquely identify devices.
• Updated localization of the mobile apps.

• NEW : added the ability to build apps without requiring to have the push certificates installed on the computer. You can now create apps and have the signing process (when exporting to device) apply the correct entitlements to your binary (push notifications) without having certificates installed.
• NEWSSTAND : fixed a potential problem (timeout) with the background download of Newsstand apps.

Aquafadas announced that their Digital Publishing System will soon support the new iPad’s screen resolution of 2,048 x1,536 pixels. Existing apps and new apps created with the current version of Aquafadas’ Digital Publishing System are compatible with the new iPad and will look as good on the new iPad as they look on current iPads.

Existing apps will run fine on the new iPad
Although there is no urgency in updating existing apps, the company recommends that publishers re-generate their apps and publications in order to make full use of the new iPad’s Retina display. Aquafadas plans to release an update to their Digital Publishing System within the next few weeks.
Rainer Heckmann, general manager of Aquafadas Inc. said: “Pixel-based images and videos of existing apps will be as sharp on the new iPad as they are on current 1,024 by 768 displays. Text, however, will look tack-sharp on the new iPad already, using the 2,048 by 1,536 resolution to its full extent. Unlike other systems, text in our apps is vector based. But we still recommend that our customers re-generate their apps, and use higher resolution images and videos, so their publications will look even better on the new iPad.”

Simply update apps and content
Not much changes for designers in using Aquafadas’ Digital Publishing System: They should ensure content is of high enough quality to support the retina display and videos should be used in 1080p HD format.
The next release of Aquafadas’ system will take care of the rest. The InDesign plugins will export two publications, one optimized for current iPads, the other one for the new iPad. AVEPublishing.com, Aquafadas’ publisher portal, will ensure the right publication will be delivered.
Rainer Heckmann added: “Instead of spending time and money on new apps whenever new devices are introduced, Aquafadas’ customers simply update their apps and content. We will continue to adjust our technology to new devices, so our customers don’t have to.”

La résolution des images et vidéos des applications déjà existantes sera aussi bonne sur l’iPad 3 que sur les modèles plus anciens. En revanche, les textes seront d’une qualité supérieure, puisqu’ils sont traités en vectoriel avec le système de publication numérique  d’Aquafadas, contrairement aux autres solutions du secteur. Il est tout de même recommandé de re-générer ses applications et d’utiliser une plus haute résolution d’images et de vidéos afin que les publications soient encore meilleures sur le nouvel iPad.
Les designers qui utilisent le système de publication numérique d’Aquafadas devront uniquement s’assurer que le contenu est d’assez bonne qualité pour supporter le passage sur l’écran Retina et que les vidéos sont au format 1080p HD. La prochaine version du système d’Aquafadas fera le reste. Le plugin InDesign exportera deux publications, une pour les iPad standards et l’autre pour le nouvel iPad. AVEpublishing.com, le portail de publication d’Aquafadas s’assurera que la bonne publication soit délivrée.

Dès le jeudi soir, retrouvez-nous lors d’une soirée d’inauguration à partir de 19h30 dans la salle Nota Bene. Une conférence menée par Claudia Zimmer, présidente d’Aquafadas et Manuel Ranchin, responsable commercial, portera sur les outils nécessaires aux éditeurs pour conquérir le marché numérique ainsi que sur le lancement de la nouvelle version du Digital Publishing System d’Aquafadas permettant la création de livres enrichis en ePub3 depuis Adobe® InDesign®.

Cédric Naux, Directeur du développement numérique des éditions Bayard, parlera de l’application J’aime Lire Store et Christophe Vantyghem, Directeur technique chez les Inrockuptibles, présentera la stratégie numérique du magazine et le projet Hors-Série des Inrockuptibles sur iPad®. La soirée se conclura bien entendu par un cocktail, tandis que se déroulera un concert de CLARK & THE FAMOUS SUSPECTS.

Deux autres évènements Aquafadas sont au programme durant ces quatre jours. The digital documents are created automatically from .pdf files or XML data and published automatically in the applications. Documents can also be created from standard publishing packages such as Adobe® InDesign® or QuarkXpress®.

Enrich its HTML animation applications without writing a single line of code

To simply create a dynamic graphic for an activity report or add animated illustrations to a story for children is possible by creating HTML5 animations. The MotionComposer application (109 € net of taxes) can design its own HTML5 interactive animations without production of a single line of code.

Based on familiar and intuitive concepts, such as slides or actions, MotionComposer is very user-friendly. All that is required is the movement of  images and texts into the work area, before moving these to animate them.

MotionComposer is proposing to export its animations to Aquafadas’ Digital Publishing System, in order to integrate them easily into a digital document.
