I love almost everything about it: the blush tones, the beautiful rounded pumps with bows, the prints, the coats, everything! Reminds me of a lot of things I wore as a 5 year old. The background also evokes in my mind memories of illustrations from my old fairy tales and poems books I used to have--boy were those old, they used to belong to my mom's. Perhaps one of the very personal reasons this collection appeals to me goes beyond the clothes. The illustrations used as backgrounds--I've been obsessed lately with collecting images of old fairy tale illustrations and specifically trying to collect <i>"Elisa de Mambrú"</i> illustrations. But going back to the collection, the whole Victorian woman-child look is beyond precious and downright sinister in my opinion, and I love it. I can totally picture this model being lost in the woods wearing one of these outfits, the woods being just memories of an old forest, perhaps the forest is just drawn in and she is lost in it, while Grimes' <i>Genesis </i>plays and this poor girl is trying to find her way back to her sanity... Okay, not much of an outfit post, but I still wanted to show my bright yellow coat, that I bought at urban outfitters online years ago. That scarf is fantastic. I don't remember where it's from. It could be either UO or F21, I don't know. I have a huge thing for scarves and I think I have close to 50 in all shades and colors. The funny thing is, they're all lightweight scarves: I probably own just three that actually keep you warm and I really haven't showcased many of them here.&nbsp;</span></div> <div style="text-align: center;"> <span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">Lately I've been rethinking my approach to clothes. I like to stand out and have more of a bohemian/rock &amp; roll vibe, sort of a disheveled look, always trying NOT to look like a corporate deuchebag, because even though I love clothes I hate looking like I'm trying too hard, and I love comfort. Yet, I find myself not feeling very elegant or classy. This has been, for most of my life, on purpose. Mainly because I feel like elegance and class are usually linked to elitism and having bourgeois life. Since I come from a place where class structure is still deeply rooted in the culture and a huge gap of inequality still exists, I have tried to evade looking a certain way at all costs. To give you an example of where I come from, a presidential candidate back home (Mexico) was recently put to shame because he couldn't name three books that have influenced his life. <a href="http://blogs.mcclatchydc.com/mexico/2011/12/pena-nietos-gaffe-a-family-affair.html">The twittersphere immediately went crazy mocking him, to which his young,&nbsp;bourgeois daughter replied in a tweet that everyone that criticized him where haters and "the offspring of the proles</a>". This candidate is one of those who has lived a&nbsp;privileged&nbsp;life, is married to a famous actress, and of course moves in a social sphere that many people could never even dream being a part of.&nbsp;To get away with criticizing the population like that it's just shameless, but that's where I grew up.</span></div> <div style="text-align: center;"> <span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">But anyways, I deviate. What I mean is that I have&nbsp;consistently&nbsp;strained from things like pearls, cashmere cardigans, shit like that, and the reason I have is deeply rooted in my cultural&nbsp;background. I believe in being a child of the Earth, being at peace with my fellow brothers and sisters, and be&nbsp;compassionate&nbsp;about other people's suffering. Then I wake up and realize I work for an immense global broadcasting corporation and I am not part of the struggling class and I am indeed a corporate d-bag which causes some sort of personality crisis--hilarity ensues. On 2012, enter Jason Wu, with his reinvention of Chinese traditional garments, prints, and fabrics, creating a feminine&nbsp;silhouette with shapely dresses and skirts, cinched waists, and vibrant shades of red. I'm definitely loving the skirt on image #8 that creates waist-to-hip curves that <i>you know are not there. </i>At least not on that model. The rapid lighting changes that suggest a change in mood, the confusing story and indiscernible motives of the protagonists are more on par with </span><i style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">Marienbad's </i><span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">original attempt at disorienting the audience.
