Givenchy Haute Couture SS2012 - Riccardo Tisci is a genius. I want these earrings. They are sublime. This is exactly want fantasy jewellery should look like!

Giambattista Valli RTW SS2012 - pick apart the bracelets and each precious metal bracelet set in enamel and crystals are classics with an edge - so easy to wear. But, I love the combination of all of them. This is exactly how i wish people would adorn jewellery - over-exaggeration is a must in costume jewellery (hence the word "costume").

Giambattista Valli RTW SS2012 - he's easily become one of my favourite designers. The snake bracelets is and should be a staple in any fahionista's jewellery box. The blend of yellow and white enamels - wow! And the texture and print of the dress - he's spot on with new and noteworthy!

I fell in love with this editorial photographed by Carlyne Cere de Dudzeele for Vogue Japan with the perfect title "Keeping the Faith". The clothes: Versace are super stylish and the hair is to "DYE" for. Of course, I love the jewellery styles with gangster rings to the punk style bracelets to the over size hoops. It is inspiring and so fresh!

Every year I find myself with the same dilemma - how early do i really need to embrace the Fall season? As an accessories buyer and an avid Tumblr user, I am exposed to all the fashions and upcoming trends very early on. I am already deep into RESORT 2012, secretly hoping to fall upon a leaked Fall 2012 pic somewhere in my searches.
I love my SUMMER and anyone who knows me, knows that I am one of the remaining sun worshippers devoting any time I can find in the day to bask in the glorious rays of the SUN. So, ya, in these few months that we have as summer here in Montreal; I have a hard time inundating my blogs with fall and winter wear when all I really want is for the heat to never go away. Yes, yes I could just go live somewhere else where it's summer all year long but, seriously where else in the world can a citizen be so privileged to find themselves in frustrating "construction zone" traffic every street corner while cheeky cyclists weave around our cars and mindless pedestriations further impede our daily routes to the office?
This being said, the past month has beed dedicated to flipping through the actual September issues and it was un-inspiring. I get that fashion is recycled year after year, decade after decade but it's always the same. I want something new. With all the technology that we have in today's day and age, designers are unable to create new and exciting designs - impossible! Anywho, perhaps I'm feeling on the edge today because I am seeing my summer slip away from me - =(.
I did find some clothing and accessories worth noting; ENJOY!!!

As I actively search through hundreds of images on a daily basis for this blog and my tumblr blogs; models sporting size 0 clothing is as common as my relationship with black clothes. (For those who know me, well they know how faithful I am to my black basics!!). When i stumbled upon the June 2011 cover of the Italian Vogue issue - I was speechless but pleasantly surprised. The title read - Belle Vere (Real Beauties). I am one of those readers out there that is forced to deal with my body image every time I leaf through a high fashion magazine because I have no choice but to imagine myself wearing that off the shoulder jumpsuit as a size 10 rather than a size 0. It makes me wonder who they are really targeting because most of the women I know who can afford these wares are not skeletal nor are they 20 years old.

Anywho, I was even more shocked to learn that it was an Italian Vogue only because I know Italians are oh so vain! From my experience in Italy, curves are not widely accepted even though Sofia Loren and Monica Bellucci are "real" women. Vanity is at a high in western Europe.

Needless to say, I am in awe of this cover and editorial. It's refreshing to see voluptuous women brilliantly photographed by Steven Meisel. It's classy and pertinent to what is happening NOW in the world of fashion. I sincerley hope that this trend will open a new avenue to healthier lifestyles and a step away from the unhealthy, very skinny, anorexic girl.

It's all about colors this season! It's so refreshing walking into a store and seeing citrus yellows and greens, fluo pinks and turquoises. Don't get me wrong, I am still an advocate for BLACK basics but being in the presence of color just changes my mood! It's summertime, touches of color whether it be with clothes or shoes or bags or most importantly BIJOUX, well that's JUICY, JUICY!!!!! HAVE A GREAT BEGINNING OF SUMMER! xxx

Men's Fall Fashion 2011

In researching this topic, I was pleasantly surprised to find color for next season's Fall Fashions for MEN. Don't get me wrong, I love a man in all black or all grey!!! But in all blue or orange - that's super hot! European men are more daring than our North American men but a girl can pray that the men here will be more adventurous with their color palettes.

Male models paraded down Armani's runway in the basic shades of greys, blacks and BLUES.

And the Salvatore Ferragamo collection was superb with its chocolate browns, sunset oranges and creams. The loose silhouettes and rich fabrics were superb. Love this look - so sexy!

Calvin Klein showed RED as a dominant color in his palette. The monochromatic look screams confidence and fashion style. We love!

Hommage to the great Alexander McQueen

This is the ideal setting to pay tribute to one of the greatest designers to grace us with his talent: Alexander McQueen. The Met Costume Institute Gala is better known as the Fashion Oscars bringing together fashion editors, designers, models and celebrities. It is one of the most coveted nights of the year for the fashion obsessed. Here are some of my favourite looks of the night:

Jennifer Lopez looked stunning in Gucci sporting a floral bolero - so Salena!

Coco Rocha in Alexander McQueen - I love the details in this dress with the fringe and embroidery.

Daphne Guiness never disappoints with this finale dress off the Spring 2011 show for Alexander McQueen paired with silver shoes from his Fall 2011 runway. New Yorkers were treated with her Barney's window wardrobe change!

Diane Kruger in Jasun Wu is retro glamour with her side parted wave and bold red lips.

Iman shines in this Stella McCartney disco diva inspired jumpsuit. She definitely knows how to stand out in a crowd!

Kanye West - Mr Fashionista himself showed up in Tory Burch with fitted pants and wing tipped shoes. We love!

Liv Tyler is exquisite in this Givenchy creation. The lemon yellow beading and feather detailing is divine!

Jewellery for the design duo at Proenza Schouler

Proenza Schouler is a design duo consisting of Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez - since their debut in 2002, they have received critical acclaim from within the fashion industry. They brought home the Perry Ellis award for new talent in 2003 and CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund award in 2004. In 2008, they launched their accessory collection earning them the coveted 2009 CFDA Accessory Designer of the Year Award. Very impressive for a design team not even a decade old.
Rumor has it that the very busy design duo are working on a costume jewellery collection - it will apparently be less "costumey" (as they have done in the past for their runway shows) and more classic. We will anxiouxly wait for their highly anticipated jewelry line which will surely please!!! Here are some photos from this season's line using bungee cords and semi precious stones!

Mary McCartney with Madonna

We are all familiar with her oh so famous dad and her talented designer "sister" but we (or at least I) have never really heard about Mary McCartney until I was researching for fashion photography on the net (for the weloveaquaskye.tumblr blog). She was born in London in the greatest year ever, yes that would be 1969 (my year of birth!). Her passion for photography was inherited by her late mom, Linda McCartney. It makes it all the more special. She is definitely the low key member of the family but with an eye at capturing still life beauty and intensity that I, personally, look for in art.
She has been featured in highly reputable publications as Harper's Bazaar and Interview. As well as, photographed high profile ad campaigns including Adidas, Stella McCartney and Mandarin Oriental to name a few. But, for me, her portrait photos of Jude Law, Sienna Miller, Daphne Guiness and Morrissey are captivating, in their own right. Mode et Surrealisme: Les photos de Marco d'Amico

Si la photographie a rendu obsolète la peinture et autres formes d’expressions visuelles, ce n’est pas pour autant que les techniques de représentation développé par les artiste modernes du dernier siècles on perdu leurs pertinence. La preuve: ce photoshoot futuriste par Marco d’Amico dans la section “Nouveaux Talents” de Vogue Italie fait bien usage du langage visuel surréaliste développer par les artistes des année 1920 tels que Marcel Duchamp et René Magritte.

C’est sous des expositions-doubles et des manipulations de courbes d’effets géométriques que le mannequin Anna Juzova subit une métamorphose. Si l’on observe bien on remarque que malgré la complexité de ces images kaléidoscopiques, les looks créer par le styliste Italo Pantano sont strictement monochromes et minimalistes.

Étonnant comment le talent d’un photographe peux transformer notre perception d’images mode!

De L'Orient au Far West

L’occident s’est toujours tourne vers l’orient comme source d'inspiration. Les images fetishes romancées de l’orient sont tellement omniprésentes dans notre imaginaire que l’on oublie souvent que la culture occidentale peut aussi avoir sa part de charme.

L’édition May 2011 de Vogue Chine inverse les rôles en tirant de la culture occidentale dans un photoshoot qui évoque les aventures du Far West. Le top model Liu Wen fait fureur dans le rôle d’une Calimity Jane habillée dans des créations par Ralf Lauren, Miu Miu et Rodarte parmi autres créateurs.

Pour un look cowgirl-glamour, les créations de Rodrigo Otazu sont parfaites! Notre designer de bijoux préférer combine souvent des lanières de cuir ajustées au coup avec des ornements originaux incrustés de cristaux swarovski!
