Sri Ara Mini Cross Country

The Sri Ara mini cross country/fun run on Saturday, 18 February 2012 at Tasek Merdeka, Jalan Datin Halimah will start at 8 am. Parents, please send your children or arrange their transport direct to Taman Tasek Merdeka between 7.30 and 7.50 am for the run. Teachers will be at hand to take care of your children.

Students have to wear their house coloured T-shirts, track pants or running shorts and a good pair of running shoes. Please also make sure that your children have had a small breakfast before coming. A small bottle of mineral water will be provided to each student.

Parents, you are welcome to stay around if you wish. Please pick up your children after the event which will end at around 11.30 am.

Chinese New Year Celebration

The Chinese New Year celebration will be held on Friday, 17 February from 10.30 am to 12 pm. This will be followed by a pot luck lunch. Students and teachers are encouraged to come in traditional Chinese costumes. Lessons will be carried on as usual after the celebration.

SRI ARA CROSS COUNTRY RACE

The school will be holding a cross country event on Saturday, 18 February 2012 from 8.30 am to 12 pm. This is a replacement day for the school and attendance is compulsory.

A trial run will be held for the cross country race in place of swimming lessons on Wednesday 15 February for the secondary students and Thursday, 16 February for the primary students fro 8 am to 10 am. Details of this event will be communicated to parents and students next week.

END OF SCHOOL YEAR 2011

Another year has passed and we have come to the end of our school year and hope 2011 has brought about a positive change to everyone at Sri Ara. We have strived to provide the best in your children’s education and we are proud that they have done well.

The SRC (Year 6/Primary 6 to Year 11/Form 5) will visit the welfare home at Kempas as scheduled from 8.30 to 10.30 am. They will go home after the visit and, come back to school later at 4 pm for their games and BBQ party.

Dear Parents & Students of Sri Ara Schools,

Yet another year has just flown by and it seems at lightning speed! We can hardly stop to take a breather and before we know it is time for the Annual Dinner Concert once again and for me to sum up the year.

The year, 2011 has had its fair share of ups and downs. The “ups” were endorsement of the Sri Ara International School by the MOE and good results from last year’s 2010 Form Five students, Shamine Iznina and Year 11 students, Pretasheeny who scored a distinction in Accounting whilst Shamine had distinctions in Mathematics, Bahasa Melayu and English.

This has been followed by Distinctions from Thulasie of Form 3 and Saki of Year 6 for the English Assessment from University ...

We would like to inform you that the rehearsal for the school concert will be on Wednesday, 16 November instead of tomorrow, 15 November. The students will be transported by bus from school at 10.30 am to the venue and will be transported back to school by 3.15 pm. For lunch, they will have to bring their own food or order from the canteen.

Also, a reminder that there is no school on concert day (Friday, 18 November). Instead, please arrange for your child/children to be at the venue by 6 pm. A buffet dinner will be provided for them after which they will have to get ready for the concert. We appreciate your cooperation.

In light of events that occurred both locally and internationally whereby security was breached with serious consequences as in the kindergarten in Muar. The Ministry of Education has suggested security be increased and flow of people be restricted.

As a consequence, we will be restricting access to everyone. There will be no access to school premises to anyone including parents from 8.30 am to 3.00 pm Mondays to Thursdays; and 8.30 am to 2.50 pm on Fridays from the beginning of next term i.e. January 2012.

We hope that you will prepare your children to adjust to this by then. Once again, this is for your own child/children’s good and we would like everybody to comply.

PMR Examination

The PMR examination will start from Tuesday, 4 October until Monday, 10 October as scheduled by the Examination Board, Ministry of Education. The exam will be held at SMK Dato Jaafar (SDJ), Jalan Yahya Al-Datar, 80300 Johor Bahru. Parents will have to send the students direct to SDJ where the teacher in charge will be waiting by the guard house. Please pick up your children from SDJ to go home after the exam is over everyday. Please make sure that your children are in their proper school attire with hair neat and trimmed and bring along their identity cards.

IGCSE Examination

IGCSE will commence from Wednesday, 12 October to Tuesday, 18 November. The examination timetables have been given to the students and exams will be carried out strictly in accordance with the Cambridge International Examinations.

Examinations

We would like to inform of the following examinations:

ECA

There will be no ECA for the rest of the year except for Taekwondo. Swimming lessons will resume as normal except during exam weeks. ECA periods will be replaced by concert practices. Please look out for further notice on concert practices.

Just a quick reminder for all students and pupils, the Hari Raya Aidilfitri festive holiday starts this week. As a consequence, the school is on holiday from Friday 26th August to Monday 5th September inclusive.

School will reconvene as normal on Tuesday 6th September at 8am.

The students who are taking SPM and IGCSE trial exams should take particular note of return date, as the exams will begin as soon as we come back. Every student who is taking these exams should have been given an exam timetable, so please consult it to confirm the exact dates and times.
