Prices and Shipping costs!

Dear valued customer,

We are writing to let you know about some of the changes we will be making to our business as a result of the current economic climate. The cost of our raw materials, especially our beloved spice Cardamom, has increased dramatically.

To stay afloat we had a difficult choice to make. Skimp on quality and maintain the same prices or continue to deliver excellent quality and increase our prices.

Once we broke it down like that our choice was no longer so difficult. We pride ourselves on providing the best quality Arabian Coffee to our valued customers and so you will see price increases reflecting the price changes in our raw materials.

However, there is some good news in all of this! We have decided to scrap our current delivery charges! Currently we use Royal Mail and their prices range from just under £4 to £20+ depending on the weight of the package. As we are a small business, we cannot afford to absorb the postage and so many of our customers are faced with high shipping costs. For example, if you were to order 2kg of coffee Royal Mail’s shipping costs would be £15.85, something many of our customers found undesirable to pay.

As of Thursday 21st May, delivery on orders less than 2kg will be charged at a fixed price of £3.99 and on orders greater than 2kg, £5.99. To further reward our customers, if you spend £100 or more you will not spend a penny on delivery. This is for shipping in the UK only.

We hope all of you are staying safe and hope you will continue to enjoy our coffee!

Many thanks,

People who buy our ground coffee keep telling us how different it is to other coffees on the market. They also ask us why we only sell our coffees online through our website.

This got us thinking: Are there any businesses out there that might want to partner with us and become an affiliate seller of our coffee? In response to this question we’re putting a call out to see if this is the case.

Before deciding whether or not you’d like to become an Arabian Coffees affiliate seller, let us tell you about our blends:

Riyadh Blend – for those who know Saudi coffee you’ll recognise this blend as being typically just that. It is in all sense of the word a true luxury coffee and, as far as we know, we are the only seller of this style coffee in the UK and parts of Europe.

Ramallah Blend – this is a blend of coffee that is widely drank and enjoyed in many scenarios from Arabic culture. Medium roast beans with cardamom flavouring; it's delicious.

Amman Blend – made with the finest Arabica coffee that is dark roasted and mixed with fresh cardamom; if you’re a fan of big flavours, this coffee is for you.

Damascus Blend – a straight (no flavourings) fresh coffee that is smooth and full of robust flavour. It is a no nonsense coffee, for the no nonsense coffee lover. It makes excellent drinking throughout the day.

It's been a busy time of late at Arabian Coffees HQ.

We've been selling far and wide, spreading the news (and our love) for our beloved Qahwa (Coffee), and in the last month we're pleased to say we're selling greater amounts of ground coffee to the US, Japan and of course the UK.

However we're not getting complacent and the work in getting the word out about the greatness of Arabic Coffee must goes on!

That's why, today we're please to announce our new overarching campaign to promote Arabic Coffee called: Wake Up & Smell The Arabic Coffee!

We think Arabic Coffee (our brand in particular) is so, so great that we want the rest of the World to wake up to this fact too. Our campaign will aim to grab the attention of people, educate them about Arabic Culture and Arabic Food, and we may even be rolling out a few new varieties of coffee as well.

We urge you to stay tuned and spread the word!

Shukran.

(Thanks)

For many Arabic and Middle Eastern people, making Qahwa (Coffee) using a traditional Dallah (Stove Coffee Pot) is in their blood! But for those of you who are unfamiliar with the process and wanting to give it a go, we've prepared these instructions.

Before you start making Coffee, you need to decide how strong (or weak) you like it to taste. Below is an indication of how to gauge this when making any of our Coffees:

1/2 tablespoon per 250ml cup = Weak Flavoured Coffee

1 heaped tablespoon per 250ml cup = Medium Flavoured Coffee

2 heaped tablespoons per 250ml cup = Strong Flavoured Coffee.

Once you have the quantities sussed, it's on with the making. In using a Dallah with our Coffees, we recommended the following preparation method:

Fill the Dallah with the amount of water you want and place it on a medium heat on a hob

Once the water boils remove the Dallah from the flame and allow it to cool for just 30 seconds

Next add the desired amount of Coffee to the water in the Dallah and stir well

Place the Dallah back on the hob (but on a low heat) for about 2 minutes and, carefully, occasionally stir. Only allow the Coffee to simmer gently. If it threatens to boil just remove the Dallah from the heat (Do not allow it to boil over as this will burn the Coffee)

After the 2 minutes has passed and the Coffee has reached a simmer, turn off the heat and serve.

This method of making Coffee in a Dallah will give you outstandingly tasty Arabic Coffee every time.

Traditionally, each of our Blends are served without milk, but if you should wish to drink it in this way we would only recommend doing this with either the Amman, Damascus or Ramallah Blends. Our Riyadh Blend is very delicate and doesn't really suit the accompaniment of milk, instead perhaps try a pinch on Saffron for some extra luxury. Of course all blends should be sweetened to suit your taste!

We hope you enjoy the journey through culture our Arabic Coffee provides.

All our coffees can be made with in a Cafetière or a Percolator - all you need to do is ensure you get the quantity of Coffee right for the desired taste. Below is an indication of how to gauge this when making any of our Coffees:

1/2 tablespoon per 250ml cup = Weak Flavoured Coffee

Boil a kettle of water

Once boiled, pour a tiny amount into the (empty) Cafetière and swill the water around to warm it and then pour away

Next pour the amount of water you wish to drink as Coffee into the Cafetière, and leave to stand for between 15-30 seconds (this allows the water enough time to cool so it won't burn the Coffee when you add it in the next step)

Now add the desired amount of Coffee to suit the taste you want to achieve (see above bullets) and stir gently

Place the lid on top of the Cafetière (but not plunge yet) and leave to stand for 1 minute

Finally plunge the Cafetière and serve.

For those of you watching our development closely, you'll notice that we've now finalised the design of the packaging for our new products or, considering the age of the coffee blend recipes we feature, should that be ancient products! If you've not had a chance to catch a glimpse of these yet, get over to our web page that displays the range of Arabic Coffee that we sell.

This is an exciting time for both Arabian Coffees and the people of the UK who love genuine Arabic Coffee. Until now, authentic Arabic Coffee hasn't been widely available in the UK and, that which is, is nearly always imported from the Middle East - meaning it loses it freshness and, because ground coffee is very absorbent to odours, doesn't taste quite right after shipping.

Made from the freshly sourced Arabica coffee beans, that are expertly gas fire roasted to traditional Middle Eastern levels, our coffees are authentically Arabic. We're proud to present four blends of ground coffee for sale (Riyadh, Ramallah, Damascus and Amman) which, to our knowledge, are unavailable elsewhere in UK.

Arabica is a word frequently used, and often abused, in
the coffee industry. But what is it?

Well Arabica is in actual fact a variety of bush, from
which Arabica coffee beans grow. Of all varieties of coffee bean (e.g. Robusta
or Hybrid), Arabica
coffee beans are the most consumed type in coffee the drink -
which explains why this term, "Arabica", appears to be most
frequently associated with coffee.

With some unscrupulous coffee producers and sellers making out that Arabica
coffee is Arabic coffee, there's often confusion regarding the
term "Arabica". Arabic
coffee (our ground
coffee) is different; it is not a variety of coffee bean but
instead traditional blended coffee recipes that originate from the Middle East -
making them a great accompaniment with Arabic food.
Check out the range of Arabic

If you didn't know already some varieties of Arabica coffee are flavoured with spices (such as cardamom or saffron) that compliment the coffee making it especially tasty with sweet Arabic foodlike dates.

However, other varieties of Arabic coffee are without additional flavourings and simply comprise of differing types of roast ground coffee beans (ranging from raw to deep dark roast).

If you're unsure of which variety you'd prefer then our advice would of course be to try some.

For example, if flavour is your thing then take our luxurious Riyadh Blend. It's made to a traditional recipe using a variety of roasted beans and heavily flavoured with cardamom - it's really unique tasting coffee.

Or, alternatively, if a good solid hit of coffee only flavour is your preference, you must try ourDamascus Blend. It's so rich and tasty, made from differing quantities of expertly roasted beans - a true coffee lovers delight!

We often get asked, "how do you make the perfect cup of Arabic coffee?"

Well there are a couple of ways in which you can make Arabic Coffee; number (1) you can always use the Cafetière method, or, and in our expert opinion the better way, number (2) you can use aDallah (traditional Arabic Coffee Pot). The latter method gives the drinker the very best cup of Arabic Coffee, but to make it perfectly depends on your skill and years of experience!

If you're new to making coffee with a Dallah, below are our recommended five steps that will send you on your way to making the perfect cup of Arabic Coffee:

Step 1) Fill the Dallah with water and begin to heat it over a medium flame

Step 2) Once near to boiling point, reduce the heat or remove the Dallah completely from the heat source

Step 3) Add the ground coffee slowly (about 1 large teaspoon per 50ml of water) stirring gently

Step 4) Add sugar (to taste if required) and reheat the coffee mixture gently but make sure that the coffee doesn't boil over

Step 5) Remove from the heat source and leave for a minute and then serve in a small cup - and there you have an excellent cup of Arabica Coffee.

We highly, highly recommend that you enjoy Arabic Coffee with sweet delights from Arabic Food - such as dates!

All of our blends of Arabica Coffee (either Amman, Damascus, Ramallah or Riyadh) can be made with a Dallah, or in a Cafetière should you prefer.

Those who are unfamiliar with, having not tasted truly authentic Arabic Coffee, will often say "surely Arabic coffee is just like any other coffee". We, and the millions of people who now drink Arabic Coffee throughout the World, would like to tell these people it isn't like any other coffee!

Unlike most coffee that is drank widely in the Western, developed World, Arabic Coffee (Qahwa orArabica Coffee as it's sometimes called) is blended with differently roasted beans. Often depending on where you are in the Middle East or North Africa, you'll find some of the blended varieties are made of ground coffee that is either lightly roasted, golden (mid) roasted, dark roasted or even a mixture of the three. The balancing of these different grinds makes authentic Arabic coffee of the region very unique indeed.

Another variable that is prominent in authentic Arabic Coffee is the use of spices to flavour the coffee. Again, as with the differing types of roasted beans, the selection and degree to which spices are used to flavour the coffee differ depending on where you are in the Middle East.

For example, in Saudi Arabia they prefer a very prominent cardamom flavour, whereas in Syria they prefer pure coffee with no flavourings - see our Arabic Coffee range for the difference in blends.

The variety of coffees that come from the Middle East means there's a blend that suits nearly all tastes. We hope you find an Arabian Coffee that suits you too!
