New Blog Address...farewell typepad

Okay, Ithink I'm ready for the launch of the new blog. We've been working hard at it over the last few weeks. Not to bore you with the details, but it was a lot more technical than I had anticipated. Good thing I have a husband in IT otherwise we might have just stayed right here. :) There may be a few hiccups, but mostly it should be smooth sailing.

Please update your bookmarks to http://www.andrearees.com/blog. The address is simple, I love it. If you experience any quirks or major problems, feel free to let me know. A new "real" post will be coming soon.

No, we're not moving the studio location. We're moving The Blog.

Just to let you know that in the coming weeks we'll be moving the blog from the current location you see here to our own server where we can manage it better. So for those of you on feeds or who have bookmarked the blog, be sure to check back here for the update. Those of you on the newslist, we'll be making one more post when everything is complete which you will automatically receive in your 'inbox'.

I've been photographing this beautiful family from the time they were pregnant with baby Z. I had the wonderful opportunity to photograph him only weeks after birth and here again at 7 months. They have officially finished their custom Baby's First Year plan so it's time to say goodbye but I truly hope I'll be seeing them again in the not too distant future. They have been fantastic to work with as they bring ideas and items to each session that really personalize the experience.

Baby Z is a pretty active little guy. He was already crawling at 7 months, but I did capture some great images of him and his family. I'm not much of a "props" person, but I had this old suitcase in the studio and it worked perfectly with his outfit. I have to admit, I love that one. Here are some of my favourite images from their session to share with you.

Welcome Baby A

I had the pleasure of welcoming Baby A and her family into the studio. She is so adorable and was such a poser! I got so many great images of her, mom and baby, dad and baby and the family...lots of great eye contact too.

Wall galleries are quite popular at Andrea Rees Photography and thought I'd share a mock up of the wall gallery I created for them. I've been enjoying putting these galleries together for my families, they tell a great story! One of the many great benefits of an In Studio Viewing Appointment. We have 29 wall gallery ideas to chose from or we can create something new. This modern family preferred the clean lines of the Personality Gallery shown below. I also got to design a Coffee Table Storybook, something I am sure they will treasure for many years to come. Perhaps in a later post, I will share some pages from some of the storybooks I've designed.

Here's the first promotion for 2008. This promotion will not be available again this year, so don't delay. Simply, it's a 2 for 1 session. You can keep one, give one, give both away or split the cost with someone. A standard session is a weekday studio session. It is a full session which means up to 1 hour in the studio or up to 2 hours for newborn sessions. Portraits are purchased separately, but if you plan to give away 1 session (see details) then you can "win" 1 8x10 portrait for each of you.

We hope everyone had a fantastic holiday season and that you celebrated with family and friends. Thank you for making 2007 a great year. We look forward to continuing our relationship and look forward to meeting all the new babies, children, families and ladies in 2008. We wish you a very happy & healthy new year.

Just a reminder that the studio is still closed for holidays until Mon. Jan. 14, 2008. All calls and emails will be returned starting Monday. We are booking February and March, but we still have some weekday full session openings for January and some mini sessions spots are still available. Please note that the Intimate mini session available on Jan.16th guarantees your portraits for Valentine's Day!

This beautiful little toddler is my new best friend. Here's the recipe for the perfect little girl, "1 red car, 2 parts adventurer, 3 favourite animals (monkey, dragon and bear), a dash of funny, a sprinkle of dress up magic and large dose of imagination!

Some of you might recognize IH, she first appeared on the scene at the tender age of 6 weeks and is the model in the Baby Details Storyboard featured on the website here http://www.andrearees.com/collage.htm. Here she is now at age 2 as she celebrated a birthday in September. Happy Birthday IH and all the little ones that celebrated 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th birthdays in the recent months... TB, AB, NB, LTL, DRH, SH, JL, TS, CB, AH, SR.

Last Minute Mini Sessions

Just in time for the holiday season...

Mini sessions are $250, and last about 15 minutes. Each session will include one 11x14 Keepsake portrait ($175 value) and an online gallery with 6-10 images available for 2 days. For individual baby, child or adult sessions only. Full sessions are recommended for relationship portraits.

All boutique items will be available for purchase a la carte including gallery wrapped canvases, portraits from wallet size to 30x40, wall galleries, sessions albums, storybooks and holiday cards.

Sessions will be scheduled on a first come, first serve basis. Please email or call the studio to reserve your session. See you soon!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Andrea Rees Photography is proud to support this cause not only in October, but year round. Throughout the year if you book a maternity or intimate session, 20% of the creation fee goes to The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, Ontario chapter.

However for the month of October only, we have added more ways to contribute with Andrea Rees Photography. Special Pricing from October 1st to October 31st only, visit Collections Pricing. For intimate sessions visit Intimate Pricing.

1. Book Custom Collections 1-3 for any portrait or intimate session and 20% of the creation fee goes to CBCF. Must take place by December 14th, 2007 or purchase as a gift card to use at a later date.

2. Purchase a 30" Storyboard and receive a desktop version (10" wide) as a complimentary gift, 20% of the cost goes to CBCF. May purchase as a gift card to use at a later date.
