Following on from last year’s successful ‘Roll Away the Stone’ event, the Church of Scotland is planning a second huge festival to celebrate the life of the church.

The programme will include:

• Children’s events (Fischey Music, games, messy church etc.)
• Youth events (a youth football competition, learning & outdoor activities, Youth for Christ tent etc.)
• Adult events (displays from churches all over the country, massed choir {if you would like to sing, you can sign up on the website or give your name to Sandra in the church office}, worship, storytelling, workshops etc.)

A bus will leave Arbroath at 11.30am, returning around 8pm.  Seats are available on a first come basis at a cost of £6 per person.  Contact the Church Office to reserve your place.

The Arbroath Churches Annual Christian Aid Coffee Morning will be held at 10am on Saturday 19 May in the Town Mission.  Tickets cost £1 and are available from the church office.  This year, the Old and Abbey will be running the Books, Crafts and Jewellery stall and any donations will be gratefully received in the church office.

Monday of Holy Week, 2nd April at 7pm  :  A time of creative reflection on the events of Holy Week in the Small Hall.

Tuesday of Holy Week, 3rd April at 7pm  :  A time of creative reflection on the events of Holy Week in the Small Hall.

Wednesday of Holy week, 4th April at 7pm  :  A special midweek worship for Holy Week in the Small Hall.

Maundy Thursday, 5th April at 7.30pm  :  A quiet service pondering the events which led to Jesus’ betrayal and arrest.  A joint service with St Andrew’s held in the Old & Abbey.

Good Friday, 6th April at 6.30pm  :  A service of readings and music remembering Jesus’ crucifixion in the Old & Abbey.

Easter Sunday, 8th April at 8am  :  Sunrise Service in Arbroath Abbey.  A short, informal servcie followed by breakfast in the Old & Abbey New Hall.  A joint service with St Andrew’s Church.

Easter Sunday, 8th April at 11am  :  A special Easter Service to celebrate Christ’s resurrection with music from the Singing Group.

Invite your friends and neighbours – everyone is very welcome!

The Eco Workgroup is hosting the second Family Film afternoon on Sunday 25th March at 2pm in the Church Hall.  The film to be shown is called “Earth” – a feature-length version of the TV documentary “Planet Earth”.  We hope to see you there!

The Youth Group is planning to take part in a sponsored knit.  This will be a fundraiser for The Vine Trust and youth funds, as well as an opportunity to make baby blankets for needy children.  The problem is most of the youth can’t knit – THEREFORE, THEY NEED YOU!

If you can knit and would be willing to teach the youth how to, please contact Sandra at the church office by Sunday 1st April.  There will be two ‘learning to knit nights’ on Sundays 15th and 29th April from 6.30 – 8pm.  Donations of balls of wool (the chunkier, the better) and knitting needles can be handed in to the church office at any time.

This is a great opportunity for a little inter-generational relationship building, so think about getting involved!

In Angus, the Time Bank Project is funded by NHS Tayside with a particular focus on working with older people.  The types of tasks undertaken through the Time Bank range from gardening, simple DIY, befriending and, when appropriate, clearing snow!  There is always something you could help another person with and equally, always something you may need help with.
