Tad on Hunger Strike, Friends Vigil on Plaza

Tad Robinson, the well known homeless rights activist and local blogger, is entering the second week of a hunger strike. He went to jail last Sunday to serve out a 35 day sentence after an incident during public comment at the January 27 Humboldt County Board of Supervisors meeting. He started fasting on October 20 at the last Board of Supervisors meeting. Meanwhile some of his supporters are holding a 24 hour vigil for him on the Arcata Plaza.

Poor People's March for Human Rights

People marched in Eureka yesterday, protesting for human rights and health care, and against the criminalization of homelessness. The march ended at Highland Park where there was food and music.

Arcata Gets Google Street View

I saw the headline in the Times-Standard and brought up these images on Google Earth. Anybody in the world can now see what everyone in Humboldt is doing. The Google van came through Humboldt late last year according to the article.

FBI Command Center in Fortuna

I am in Fortuna where I just spoke with FBI spokesman Joseph Schadler, who told me that Operation Southern Sweep is a success. But what else would he say anyway. He told me he expected to be leaving tomorrow. On the right are photos that I took of their command center.

The latest rumors are that they are going after dispensaries, despite theiir statements to the press that targets would be commercial and not 215 related. I just took these photos at 1658 Virginia Way in Sunnybrae. Some of the agents were wearing FBI windbreakers, while others were from other agencies. One was a Postal Dept. inspector.

Feds are Raiding in Humboldt

Numerous sources are confirming the rumors about drug raids in Humboldt by federal agents. The North Coast Journal has photos of them taken early this morning at the River Lodge in Fortuna. Eric Kirk has reports of them being in Redway. Early reports suggest that the feds are fanning out in every direction. The Humboldt Herald says they are also headed east on 299.

Vegan Activists Table While Beef is Grilled

Vegan activists set up a table at the North Coast Co-op in Arcata today, while the Humboldt Grassfed Beef organization grilled burgers in the parking lot and gave them out for free. Granny Green Genes in the video explains why they were there.

People Talking About Impending DEA Raids

I just got back in town after spending a few days in the woods, and the town is buzzing with rumors of a massive invasion of Arcata by the Feds. People say that the DEA agents are staging in Eureka and will be looking for grow houses based on PG&E records.

Congressman Mike Thompson was in Arcata today, listening to people's concerns about the economy. He made a visit to the Consumer Credit Counseling office on 11th Street. I asked him what he was there for and he said "I'm here to listen."
