I found my beloved Illamasqua lipstick in Box that I’d accidentally abandoned in the bottom of a handbag, so I paired it with Illamasqua’s black pencil in S.O.P.H.I.E.

If anyone’s interested in what makeup I wear, here is my basic regime: Rimmel Lash Accelerator Endless mascara; Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation in Light Beige; Benefit Fake Up under-eye concealer in Light; Bourjois Little Round Pot blusher in Rose d’Or; Benefit Brow Zings in Dark.

I think this means that I’m somehow winning in my lifelong quest to own my fatness. It’s got to a point where I’ve managed to carve out a corner of the world (or the internet, or both) where fat is just fine. Where we’re so positive that we don’t need thin-hating slogans. It feels like there are enough exciting people exchanging enough exciting thoughts and beliefs that in this space (and maybe in this space alone, but for me at least it definitely spills over into how I live the rest of my life) there’s a new standard. I was scrolling down my Tumblr dashboard the other day and I saw someone say how one of the positives of their crushing breakup was that they’d lost 15lbs. My corner of the world is so well-protected from this kind of banal, women’s-magazine-level thought that I was genuinely confused by the comment.

So I want a necklace that says ‘Fat Bitch’. I want something I can wear on my body that proclaims ‘I know I’m fat. I own it’. The fact this is frightening to someone who’s under the misguided belief I only surround myself with fat folk is, quite frankly, exciting. Anyone who actually knows me knows that I have pals of varying levels of thinness and fatness, but that seems somehow immaterial here. I never body-shame others, so this isn’t about oppression, it’s about feeling threatened. By refusing to question my own value in relation to thinness, I’m making someone feel threatened. By not regurgitating banal rhetoric, I’m making someone feel threatened. By treating my fat body with kindness, I’m making someone feel threatened. And that’s their problem.

So keep pushing back, keep fearlessly doing your thing, don’t bow to the pressure to hate on someone else’s size or shape, just keep doing you. Keep taking stock of your personal victories. Keep an eye on your body-image milestones. Revel in the ‘ugly’ parts of yourself. Rework and redefine everything you think you know about beauty. Make ‘em scared.

More and more I’m wanting the stuff I own to be fun and playful, as well as stylin’, and I feel as if all these items have a good sense of fun, or even just a little extra something. I’ve got the Illamasqua nail varnish in a different colour and I just love it- it creates a brilliant eggshell effect, and I want it in every colour.

I love the cat-eye Miu Miu sunglasses because they’re chic but still super-strong, and I feel like they’d be a pretty sweet investment, right?

The studded Michael Kors handbag is something I’ve been contemplating getting minus studs with some of the money I won from Simply Be (did I mention I won £1000 to spend at Simply Be, and they happen to carry some Michael Kors? Alas not the studded version…).

Tatty Devine are pretty much always in my heart, and this tiger necklace is so perfect. I get endless compliments whenever I wear my T.D. unicorn, and I reckon a tiger wouldn’t fare any worse!

Brian Lichtenberg t-shirts and sweaters are my kind of irreverent fun, but I definitely can’t afford to drop that kind of dollar on a t-shirt. A girl can dream!

I wore a pair of silver glittery Melissa jelly shoes on the Clements Ribeiro / Evans shoot and I kind of fell in love. I’d never have thought they would fit me (huge huge feet) but they were perfect.

And finally, the green American Apparel fisherman’s sweater: I’m kind of considering it. My pal Seb has one, and even has one in this colour, and my jealousy levels are just rapidly increasing. I tried Seb’s on, which pretty much settled any doubt in my mind. I should do it, yeah?

When we DJ at our club night, I do so much vigorous dancing to the bangin’ tunes we play that I get super warm. Every time, I’ve needed to take my top off to cool down, so this time I made my bra part of my outfit. When it got too hot to handle, I stripped down to my AMAZING new Cult of California galaxy-print sports bra!

I feel lobster + galaxy bra = one of my better style ideas…
