It’s funny how I just discovered a great feature in Windows 7 by reading up on how to install Ubuntu alongside it. I didn’t know Windows 7 could shrink partitions without the need for 3rd party tools. Well it can and I did. To make room for Ubuntu. I plan to move away from Windows for anything but design work. I’ll need Photoshop for that and there isn’t a viable Linux alternative for Flash either. But other than that I can’t wait to switch to Linux full time.

Step one: Dual boot

Setting up a dual boot situation with Windows 7 and Ubuntu is quite easy. This tutorial guides you through the process. This is similar to using Boot-camp (the page for which currently seems to be missing from Apple’s website) on a Mac, and allows you to either use Windows or Linux at any time by choosing which OS to boot at start-up. This keep your Vista install intact, but it’s far from ideal. I’d have to reboot my PC every time I need to use Windows-only software, even if only for five minutes.

Step two: Virtualizing Windows 7 under Ubuntu

This is what I’m really after. I’d really like to run Windows 7 inside Linux, and the reason I’m setting up a dual boot scenario is to test whether this works. I’ve seen XP run quite smoothly on a coworker’s Macbook Pro using Parallels a couple of years ago, and the speed was great. If the same is true for Windows 7 on my somewhat faster machine, I’ll be getting rid of my current Windows 7 install and have my PC boot straight into Ubuntu every morning. That would be great.

Step three

There’s only one reason for me to not ditch Windows 7 completely right now: Adobe software. If they’d release Linux versions of their applications there wouldn’t be any reason for me to keep using Windows. Unfortunately, there’s no indication that Adobe is working on such a move. Even though Linux phenomenal stability would make it ideal for use on graphics workstations, the only Adobe software available for Linux seems to be Flash Player and AIR. Too bad.

PC user you need to try Ubuntu, Mint 8 over time you will like and hardly use Microsoft with all it's issue that just makes you MAD. You don't get those issue with Linux, you will safe like a Mac user. Ha Ha!

Microsoft says malware causing blue screen crashes

Summary
Not by angry customers suing for damages after security breaches, or by governments breaking up monopolies, but by open source developers and security professionals accusing them of being obsessed by security.

A hard-to-detect rootkit may be causing Windows XP systems to crash following Microsoft's latest security updates. Windows users began flooding Windows support forums this week, saying that their computers had been rendered unusable with a blue-screen-of-death (BSOD) error after installing Microsoft's February security updates, released Tuesday. On Thursday, Microsoft stopped shipping the MS10-015 update, which had been linked to the issue, and said it was investigating.

On Friday, Microsoft offered a preliminary conclusion, saying that malicious software may be to blame. "Malware on the system can cause the behavior," wrote Microsoft spokesman Jerry Bryant on a company blog. "We are not yet ruling out other potential causes at this time and are still investigating."

Jesus Christ told his followers that he came to earth, "not to be ministered to, but to minister and to give his soul a ransom in exchange for many." (Matthew 20:28) He Willingly gave up his perfect life for the benefit of others. How did Jesus, by his death, provide a ransom? Why was this necessary? For whom did Jesus lay down his life? And what can his death mean for you? Each year, Jehovah's Witnesses commemorate Jesus' death on its anniversary. This year, the anniversary was observed on Tuesday, March 30, after sundown.

Jehovah's Witnesses warmly invited many to examine the significance of Jesus' death. Scriptural answers to the above questions was discussed.

The Last Days—Of What?

A SIGN in a store window proclaims: “Last Days.” Its message is fairly obvious. It can mean that a sale will be ending soon or that the store will be closing. But what if someone says, “We are living in the last days”? What does that mean?

I've learned that the terms “the last days” and “the time of the end” have been in use for a long time. Bible reference here at (2 Timothy 3:1; Daniel 12:4) Over 2,500 years ago, the prophet Daniel was given visions of world powers and of the conflicts that would take place between them up until “the time of the end.” He was told that the meaning of these visions would be made clear at that time. Bible reference here at (Daniel 8:17, 19; 11:35, 40; 12:9) Daniel also recorded: “In the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be brought to ruin. And the kingdom itself will not be passed on to any other people. It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it itself will stand to times indefinite.”—Daniel 2:44.

Jesus Christ referred to “the end” when answering a question about “the sign of [his] presence and of the conclusion of the system of things.” (Matthew 24:3-42) Evidently, both Daniel and Jesus were referring to a finality—a dramatic change that would affect the people who live and have lived on our globe. Daniel wrote of the end of all earthly governments. Jesus spoke of “the conclusion of the system of things.”

Should you be concerned? Of course. All mankind should be, as all are involved. Still, many take this matter lightly. The Bible foretold: “In the last days there will come ridiculers with their ridicule, proceeding according to their own desires and saying: ‘Where is this promised presence of his? Why, from the day our forefathers fell asleep in death, all things are continuing exactly as from creation’s beginning.’” (2 Peter 3:3, 4) Yes, some today feel that history just keeps repeating itself and that life as we know it will go on this way endlessly. Is that how you feel?

After all most two years as an unemployed tech, keeping busy learning, experiencing and finding things to do. I am back baby! Since August 2008, I've landed a very nice career and a FTS (field technical support) tech. One of the very best opportunities I have ever experienced in an I. T. world.

CVS/Pharmacy is an amazing company to be a part of headquartered in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. CVS/Pharmacy has some 7000 store across the US and I have niche of 48 store to which I cover.
Being a FTS tech is like a dream come true for me, why do I say that? Well, back in 1983, I worked for a company call Economics Laboratory in Pennsylvania. This was my first super real job managing a territory about a 100 mile radius selling and serving restaurants, laundry faculties and training personnel workings on new equipment and products wearing a cool white lab coat. Back then, companies like Economics Laboratory gave you a company car, expense card, paid for gas, expense your home office, supplies and more. Great right! Yeah, it was, that was a great job to have as a young feller.

Here at CVS/Pharmacy is like that of Economics Laboratory, great place to work, all the tools and provisions to get the job done. My favorite is providing customer service to all my stores in my circle of trust. I love being professional and going beyond the call of duty as a FTS tech.

therefore, as a tech I am grateful to be working, specially living in the mid west (Michigan), where jobs are few and far between.

VirtualBox is a general-purpose full virtualizer for x86 hardware. Targeted at server, desktop and embedded use, it is now the only professional-quality virtualization solution that is also Open Source Software.

• Shared folders. Like many other virtualization solutions, for easy data exchange between hosts and guests, VirtualBox allows for declaring certain host directories as "shared folders", which can then be accessed from within virtual machines.

Software removal and multiple selection: The Software Manager now allows you to mark multiple applications for installation and/or removal. A new apply button confirms your choices and processes them all at once.
Update manager improvements
Visual improvements: A few enhancements make the update manager look better than ever.
In the view menu you can now define the visible columns in the list of updates. You can also resize the update manager to make it look exactly the way you want. It will remember its size and the columns you chose and it will look the way you defined.

Artwork changes
Linux Mint 8 Helena comes with up to date version of the Gnome Colors icon theme and the Shiki gtk theme.
Firefox comes bundled with the Stylish add-on which makes it integrate better with the overall theme.
The default background is called "Fresh" and it was designed by Zwopper (who also designed the default background for Linux Mint 7 "Gloria").
Various upstream improvements in the gtk engines used by Linux Mint make widgets, and buttons in particular, look better than they did before.
Other improvements
Community editions now use their own repositories and are now able to pin packages from the main edition.
Dependencies were simplified and the Mint tools were made more modular. In particular they can now be installed on Ubuntu without any configuration.
The branding used in the Mint tools was removed to make it easier for other distributions to use them and to give a more professional look to the desktop.
An OEM installation can now be launched from the liveCD boot menu.
Inxi buttons were included in xchat to make IRC support easier. The #linuxmint channel was also split into #linuxmint-help and #linuxmint-chat to separate chatting and support and give people seeking for help a dedicated channel. Xchat now autoconnects to both channels.
MintCast is now registered by default as a podcast in Rhythmbox.
Gnome-Do was initially introduced to raise people's awareness about the project and is now removed from the default software selection.

Noccalula Falls - Vacation in the South

The "Legend of Noccalula", as the story has come to be known, begins long ago, when the falls were still known as Black Creek Falls. A native Chief controlled the area around the Alabama waterfall. This Chief was said to have the most beautiful daughter that any had ever seen. The daughter's name was Noccalula. Many young braves came to the Chief's camp with hopes of taking the tribal Princess as a bride, but the Chief turned them all away.

The husband that the Chief eventually selected for his daughter was the Chief of a very strong neighboring tribe. In exchange for the beautiful bride, the neighboring Chief was to provide many gifts to the father, ranging from horses to blankets. The young Princess, however, was in love with a brave from within her own tribe, and pleaded with her father to let her marry the man she loved.

The young maiden's father felt that this was insanity, and not only denied her request, but banished her love from the tribe forever. On the day of her wedding, dressed in the finest wedding gown, the young Princess slipped away from the tribe and found herself being called by the falls. Her choice was clear, and all of her problems were brought to an end with one simple leap. Saddened by the event, the Chief renamed the falls in honor of his lost daughter. From that time until now, we have known the area as Noccalula Falls.

Cultivating new web designing Territory

It has been months since my last post, I have been working this new field of mind as a freelance web designer. After getting my first job with American Care News (www.americancarenews.com), I have been working very hard to provide my new client with the best customer service possible. I have met evey wish of my client and through weeks of trial and error, I was able to produce a satisfied customer.

This got me into another piece of land to design for a new client called Serenity Residential Care Service and Products (www.serenityresidentialcare.com). Serenity Care Group was referred to us by Direct Care Training operated by Bruce McCollum the chief editor of American Care News.

As of August 2007, I have enrolled myself in a Web Development program at Henry Ford Community College, l am studying HTML scripting, designing graphics for the screen, Web site development using current applications, operating systems, network technology, Web animation, and desktop editing skills. As a student I am preparing myself to seek entry-level employment in positions such as Web site designer, Web artist, Web producer, and Web site developer.

Now that I have time, what could I learn?

Web Development

I have now checked myself into Henry Ford Community college in Michigan. Wow, me changing directions from a desktop support tech to web developer and I am very excited about doing it too. I love art and creativity that I wanted to learn how to enrich these elements of desire in a career as a web developer. I hope that soon I can be employed as an entry-level web developer some day soon.

I wanted to take a moment to let you know that this is my last day at Compucom.

I have enjoyed my tenure here and I appreciate having had the opportunity to work with all of you. Thank you for the support, guidance, and encouragement you have provided me during my time with Compucom. Even though I will miss working with the group and the company, I am looking forward to new challenges and to starting a new phase of my career.

Five days left as a working Deskside Support Technician

One more friday and my days as a computer tech will be numbered as the end of the road with Compucom. Michigan's job market is so saturated with an over run of IT professionals, like ants on a large mound.

So, where do I go, what will I do? Huh! I know, I will take a semi-retirement moment and head for a local community college in my area.

Until fairly recently, most employers required little more than a high school diploma for most jobs. With major economic shifts like here in Michigan, especially in the retail, manufacturing and the information technology sectors, the number of potential entry-level jobs for people (like myself) without college degrees are dwindling.

Large employers have scaled back their internal training and development programs, relying instead on colleges and universities that can handle those tasks more efficiently. Though a growing number of businesses provide their employees with tuition reimbursement programs to cover the cost of ongoing training, most job seekers (speaking of myself) are competing for entry-level positions and must invest in their own professional development.

Therefore, to compete effectively in today's job market, a college certificate of achievement program for my self is an essential tool that can assure potential employers that I have the basic skills to handle new assignments. By enrolling in a respected, accredited college certificate of achievement program , I can prove my skills and back up my claims with a solid college record.

My field of choice will be to become web developer. Why that, why I really like it with a strong passion to create, interact and present ideas in a non-linear format. I like working with Photoshop, Flash, ImageReady and Dreamweaver products. Therefore, a web development certificate program will help me prepare for an entry-level position as a Web Developer, Webmaster, Web Administrator, web Programmer or Multimedia Developer.

So I am excited to embark upon this new and exciting challenge as I make a slight turn from Deskside Support Technician to becoming a very good web developer.

Until then, I'll be back to tell you more about my new career change and getting some education at my local community college.

I have completed 40 hours of training in Microsoft Desktop Support Technician at New Horizons, on July 13, 2007. My instructors Robin Wright and Berry Welsher were very good teachers', cramming all those modules in five days. I am now working the practice exams, dedicating several hours a night upon conquering the exam tests. Wish me the best...

Training Class for Microsoft Desktop Support Technician in Livonia, Michigan

Monday July 9, 2007, which will extend through July 13th, I have attended my first training class for MSDST at New Horizions in Livonia, Michigan. My instructor Robin Wright is from central Florida. She is well versed in this field and I have thus far enjoyed her teaching methods. She also has a great deal of certifications across the board with Microsoft and has been teaching for over 20 years.

I feel this class will help me gain more knowledge and skills needed to troubleshoot further Microsoft Windows XP problems faced while running Microsoft Windows XP Professional in an Active Directory network, or Windows XP Home edition in a workgroup environment. We are using course material 2261b & 2262b, supporting users running the Microsoft Windows XP operation system.

By August 3rd, 2007 I will lose the blues and about to cruise my last day. I really enjoyed working at this facility, but I hope to find another great place to work that I can be housed onsite to work with many client's on location. Meeting their needs in person and doing troubleshooting and some phone work for very cool and exciting company.

As a job seekers myself, the hard truth is that I am going to have to make some concessions, or risk becoming chronically unemployable. Some people are less likely to take lower-paying jobs because they feel they are worth more, but as for me I am flexible salary pay range. Those firmly grounded in Michigan will have to lose their sense of entitlement. More and more companies are expecting people to do more for less, and smaller businesses cannot afford the legacy costs and large benefit packages previously offered by large employers. The good news is, there is an under publicized shortage of skilled workers. Michiganders have the legitimate option to seek re-education to improve upon their skill sets, allowing them to become more marketable in the local job market. For those unwilling to change their mindsets, relocation is one option to consider, since the high paying low skill/semi skilled jobs aren't coming back anytime soon. So hiring managers, I am a loyal to those that can see me as someone that would work hard, be punctual, give good customer satisfaction and much more. Overview: Wubi is an unofficial Ubuntu installer for Windows users that will bring you into the Linux world with a few clicks. Wubi allows you to install and uninstall Ubuntu as any other application.Wubi is a Windows front-end for lupin. Wubi and lupin provide a user friendly installer which allows users to install/uninstall Ubuntu like any other Windows program, without modifying partitions, without replacing the bootloader, and without having to burn a CD.
