The flash memory handles the data most frequently written to or retrieved from storage. Several companies have begun offering variants of this technology, which is expected to become popular in high-end systems, particularly notebook. In 2007 Seagate and Samsung both introduced hybrid HDDs primarily targeted to OEMs notebook computer manufacturers.

Hybrid hard disk uses non-volatile flash memory (also known as NVRAM) to cache data during normal use. It uses 256MB (or more) of high speed flash memory, which is embedded directly on the hard drive itself, to serve as a fast cache for booting and saving data. When booting the PC, the operating system loads data from the flash memory first, speeding boot-up times and it also removes the need to quickly spin up the drive, which saves on power consumption as well.

In May 2010, Seagate launched the Momentus XT 7200RPM 2.5" solid state hybrid drive which has a 4GB SLC NAND chip, which is used as a read-only cache managed by the drive itself. Seagate calls this Adaptive Memory and claims it removes the OS, driver, and software dependency previously required to take advantage of the integrated Flash memory. The SSD portion of this new drive is also now a larger 4 GB, compared to 256 MB in the past. Benchmark results conducted and published by Seagate of the Momentus XT place the 7200 RPM hybrid drive's performance firmly between high-end 10,000 RPM drives and solid-state drives on a number of tasks, such as system boot time and application launch speed. For example, according to these benchmarks, system boot time using this hybrid drive is approximately 41% faster than the same task using a non-hybrid 7200 RPM drive, while a "best-in-class" solid-state drive performs approximately 44% faster than a standard 7200 RPM drive on the same test. According to The Register, in the first year after launch Seagate sold 350,000 units of this hybrid drive.

Hybrid hard drives have several advantages over conventional hard drives, including:

* Faster data storage and retrieval for applications such as word processors
* Reduced system boot-up time
* Lower power consumption
* Decreased heat generation
* Extended hard drive life
* Extended battery life for notebooks and PDAs
* Reduced levels of operating noise.

Limitations of HHDs include:

* Longer seek time for data stored on the hard drive
* More frequent hard-drive spin-up and spin-down
* Impossibility of data recovery from failed flash memory modules
* Higher overall hardware cost for the system.
To modern computer users, these tabulators would probably appear awkward, slow, and cumbersome to use, but at the time, they represented the cutting edge of technology. This continues to be true of supercomputers today, which harness immense processing power so that they are incredibly fast, sophisticated, and powerful.

A supercomputer is a computer that is among the largest, fastest or most powerful of the computers available. Supercomputers are being improved all the time! Soon they will operate on the petaflop-scale (that's one quadrillion operations per second!). Supercomputers are used to tackle problems that are very complex or problems that would be messy to deal with in the real physical world because they are dangerous, deal with incredibly small things are incredibly big ones!

The primary use for supercomputers is in scientific computing, which requires high-powered computers to perform complex calculations. Scientific organizations like NASA boast supercomputers the size of rooms for the purpose of performing calculations, rendering complex formulas, and performing other tasks which require a formidable amount of computer power. Some supercomputers have also been designed for very specific functions like cracking codes and playing chess; Deep Blue is a famous chess-playing supercomputer.

Here's some examples:

Climate researchers model Earth's current and predicted future climate using supercomputers.

Astronomers and space scientists use supercomputers to study the Sun and space weather.

Scientists use supercomputers to simulate how a tsunami would impact a coastline or a given city.

Supercomputers are used to simulate supernova explosions in space.

Supercomputers are used to test the aerodynamics of the latest military planes.

Supercomputers are being used to model how proteins fold and how that folding might affect people that have Alzheimer's Disease, Cystic Fibrosis and many kinds of cancer.

Supercomputers are used to model nuclear explosions, limiting the need for real nuclear testing.

I found this is really interested and important to all of us who use Internet day to day. So I thought I should share it with you.
This week, we're going to turn you into a networking wizard, starting with getting to know the most important device on your network: the router.

Router Basics

Your router is the glue that holds your home network together. It connects all your computers to one another, either through Ethernet cables or a wireless connection. A router is different than a modem: your modem connects you to the internet, while your router connects your computers to one another. When you hook up your router to the modem, however, you're then able to share that internet connection with all of the computers on your network. Sometimes modems will come with routers built-in, but this isn't always the case.

Devices that connect to your router—that is, the computers, tablets, smartphones, DVRs, game systems, and so on—are called clients. Each client on the network is given an IP address, which helps your router direct traffic. Clients within the network get a local IP address, while your modem gets a global IP address. Global IP addresses are like street addresses, while local IP addresses are like apartment numbers: one lets you find the building in relation to the rest of the world, while the other lets you find the specific location within the complex. These addresses make sure the right information from the outside world gets to the right computer on your network.

Routers have a number of different features, so we'll go through some of the most common router specs and how they affect your home network.

Wired vs Wireless

You'll want to hardwire any computer that doesn't need to move around, like a desktop, since wired connections are fast, reliable, and cheap. They're far from ideal for devices you pick up and move around, though, like laptops, so for those we use a wireless connection (commonly known as Wi-Fi). Wi-Fi is more than adequate for simple web browsing, though wired connections are ideal if you're transferring big files, gaming, video chatting, or streaming video.

Most people have a mix of wired and wireless devices on their network, so most of our discussion today will be focused on wireless routers. Since wireless routers allow for both wired and wireless connections, you can wire up when necessary, and connect over Wi-Fi everywhere else.

Wireless Throughput

Throughput is the speed at which a router can transfer data. The transfer speed of your wireless connection is dependent on the wireless standard it uses. The most common standards today are 802.11g and 802.11n (also known as "wireless G" and "wireless N", respectively). Wireless N is faster than wireless G, though routers that support wireless N are also more expensive. Most new devices—like smartphones and laptops—support the faster wireless N.

Your router isn't the only thing that determines wireless speed: you also need the correct kind of wireless card in your computer. If you have an older laptop, it might have an older wireless G card inside, meaning it can't take advantage of wireless N speeds. If you have a mix of N- and G-capable computers, you can turn on a wireless N feature called "mixed mode", which will let you use both on the same network. You'll get faster speeds on the wireless N clients and slower speeds on the wireless G clients. Some claim, however, that running both N and G devices on the same network can lower speeds across the network, even between a wireless N router and wireless N computer. So if you want the fastest possible speeds, you'll probably want all wireless N devices on that network.

Wired Throughput

The wired half of your router will come in one of two speeds: 10/100 Mbps and 10/100/1000 Mbps (also known as "gigabit"). 10/100 routers are cheaper, but won't transfer data between computers as quickly as gigabit routers will. If you're only using your router to connect to the internet, 10/100 is fine, since your internet connection is probably slower than 100Mbps, meaning you wouldn't be able to actually take advantage of the router's full speed. If you're transferring data between computers, however, you'll want to go with a gigabit router, since it'll transfer that data much faster than a 10/100 model.

Range

Wireless routers can only reach so far. If you have a big house and have the router on one side, you might not be able to access the network from the other side of the house. Your range, like your speed, is determined by the wireless standard you use. Wireless N has a longer range than wireless G, so if range is important you'll want to use wireless N.

That said, there are many other ways to connect to your network from afar. Wireless extenders (also called wireless repeaters) are products you can buy that do exactly what they say—extend your network further. Alternatively, you can buy a powerline adapter, which lets you use your home's electrical wiring to hook a faraway device up to your router with an Ethernet cable (and thus get a faster connection than wireless would allow for).

Number of Ports

Routers have two types of ports in the back: LAN ports and WAN ports. Your WAN port hooks up to your modem (which, again, is what connects to the internet), while the LAN ports hook up to your computers and other clients. Most routers have one WAN port, but you'll need as many LAN ports as you have wired devices. If you have more wired devices than can fit on a router, you can plug them all in using a wired switch. A switch is like a power strip for your router: it lets you plug in more devices than the router originally allowed. Photo by Ari Zoldan.

Number of Bands

Wireless routers broadcast on a radio band, and many new wireless N routers can broadcast on two bands. These are called, appropriately, dual band routers. Older routers and computers operate on a 2.4Ghz band only, while dual-band routers allow for both the 2.4Ghz band and a 5Ghz band. The 5Ghz band is great because it has less interference, since tons of other devices—from other networks to Bluetooth to cordless phones to microwaves—operate on the 2.4Ghz band.

The main downside of the 5Ghz band is that, since it uses a higher frequency, it isn't as good at penetrating walls. As such, if you run your router in 5Ghz mode, you might have a shorter range than if you ran it in 2.4Ghz mode. In addition, some older devices don't support 5Ghz. The solution to this problem is to use a simultaneous dual-band router, which can broadcast on both bands at once.

Wireless Security

Unless you don't mind strangers eating your bandwidth and potentially accessing your networked files, you should always protect your wireless network with a password. WPA2 is currently the most secure type of wireless encryption, so make sure you use WPA2 if you can. Some old wireless devices won't support WPA, in which case you'll have use the less secure WEP instead. Basically every device made in the last four years support WPA2 encryption.

If you're planning to use your router for a small business, you might want to look for a router with the "guest network" feature, which allows other people to access the internet without giving them full access to your computers and sensitive data.

Hackability

Hardware specs like these are important, but routers also come with a lot of software and firmware features, like DHCP reservations, Quality of Service, or firewalls that can make managing your network easier. However, the more of these features a router has, the more expensive it's likely to be.

If you're comfortable with flashing a new firmware on your router, you're better off getting one that's compatible with a third-party firmware like DD-WRT or Tomato. Be sure to check out our guide to buying a Wi-Fi router, and take all the above information into account as you shop: for example, if you need your network to reach long distances, make sure you get a simultaneous dual-band router for maximum range.

A note on user reviews: unlike most technology, reviews for wireless routers are not to be trusted. Most routers have a mix of 5-star "works perfectly" reviews and one star "totally sucks" reviews, and it's because everyone's home is different. There are so many other factors that go into network quality, like the walls, interference from other devices, and so on that you can't really extrapolate much from a given person's experience. The best thing to do is evaluate your needs, buy a router from a trusted brand that fits those needs, and return it if it doesn't work for you.

10 Facts You Didn't Know About: Google

Mongoose - JS library for database access

What is Mongoose?
Mongoose is a javascript library that makes working with MongoDB a breeze. Mongoose is currently designed to run within the Nodejs environment. Mongoose aims at solving the complexities associated with asynchronous data storage by providing a more intuitive API. Mongoose also provides the ability to define data models that act as a gatekeeper protecting your data. Models offer typecasting on field, validation, default values, output formats and more.

Why MongoDB?
While looking into storage solutions we decided that using a NoSQL engine was the best fit for our needs. We faced the battle of which solution to choose. CouchDB is promising but we stepped away because it’s still in alpha, currently only supports REST for direct database communication and we weren’t thrilled that everything is basically a mapReduce. Tokyo Cabinet/Tirade looks to be extremely fast but the fact that it only supports strings, needs expert understanding of computer science theory for proper performance tuning coupled with the fact that it is only a key/val store requiring large amounts of code to even be usable. Cassandra is an amazing tool, but currently having to restart for index changes and the complexity of the system (dependencies/learning curve) made it less attractive.
# 1
Define the interpreter. You need to specify which interpreter will be used to execute this script. The first line of an init script should aways be:

#! /bin/sh

# 2
Populate "INIT INFO" The entries in the "INIT INFO" section are comments which are read by insserv and the YaST runlevel editor. They specify what this service should be known as to other init scripts, what other services are required for this one to run, and what runlevels to be active in. The following entry specifies that other init scripts can refer to this service as $bar. It should be started after the network is brought up, and should be active in runlevels 3 and 5. It should be stopped in any other.

### BEGIN INIT INFO
# Provides:          bar
# Required-Start:    $network
# Required-Stop:
# Default-Start:     3 5
# Default-Stop:      0 1 2 6
# Short-Description: bar daemon, providing a useful network service
# Description: The bar daemon is a sample network
#	service. We want it to be active in runlevels 3
#	and 5, as these are the runlevels with the network
#	available.
### END INIT INFO

# 3
This section has program informations. Program name, Path, Arguments and Path for PID file.

PROG="octobot-encryption.sh"
PROG_PATH="$BASE_PATH" ## Not need, but sometimes helpful (if $PROG resides in /opt for example).
PROG_ARGS="100" #Pass arguments
PID_PATH="/var/run"

#4
start() and stop() methods have things to do.

*** After completed the script, save it in /etc/init.d/ with a name (example :- /etc/init.d/encryption)
Then you need to add the appropriate symbolic links to cause the script to be executed when the system goes down, or comes up
Easiest way to do it is, run this command

update-rc.d encryption defaults

Run this command to remove.

update-rc.d -f encryption remove

After reporting stronger than expected second quarter earnings yesterday, Amazon (AMZN) has passed $100 billion in market cap this morning. The company’s shares are currently trading at around $225 per share, giving the e-commerce giant a $101.81 billion market cap.

Amazon’s sales for the quarter neared $10 billion, an increase of 51 percent from the same quarter in 2010. Net income decreased 8% to $191 million in the second quarter, or $0.41 per diluted share, compared with net income of $207 million, or $0.45 per diluted share, in second quarter 2010. But despite this decline in net income, Amazon was able to beat analyst expectations.
And the company’s stock is rallying this morning, thanks to bullish investors.
Shares reached as high as $227.20 today, which is an all-time high for the company. To put the $100 billion market cap in perspective, Amazon has surpassed HP’s valuation, which is currently $76 billion. eBay’s market cap is $43 billion.

eBay Acquires Magento

I guess that the word is already spread. eBay Acquires Magento and Launches Open-Commerce Brand, X.Commerce. Since eBay and Magento have partnership for quite some time, I believe that this acquisition is not a huge surprise. Roy is happy. Yoav is happy. This seems to be a great thing for Magento Inc. I’ll ask a selfish question: “What does it mean to the companies like ours and what the hell is X.Commerce?”

Earlier this year, eBay and PayPal decided to merge their API and developer platform into a combined open platform business, X.commerce. At the time, eBay, which owns PayPal, wanted to developers one ecommerce solution that would offer a “complete approach” to online and offline business. Of course, since then eBay has acquired open source e-commerce storefront platform Magento as well as e-commerce giant GSI Commerce.
Together, eBay, PayPal, Magento and GSI will be the pillars of the X.commerce platform, which will be revealed at eBay’s X.commerce Innovate 2011 conference in November. At last year’s Innovate conference, PayPal revealed its micropayments digital goods product. PayPal and eBay, have more than 200,000 developers building off the two platforms, plus the 450,000 Magento developers added via the acquisition.
Zuckerberg is responsible for setting the overall direction and product strategy for Facebook. He leads the design of Facebook’s service and development of its core technology and infrastructure.
Earlier in life, Zuckerberg developed a music recommendation system called Synapse and a peer-to-peer client called Wirehog. However, he abandoned both to pursue new projects.
Zuckerberg attended Harvard University and studied computer science before founding Facebook.
While at Harvard, Zuckerberg created Facemash, a website that compared students’ dorm photos side-by-side in a fashion similar to HOT or NOT. Harvard administration was not amused, and Zuckerberg faced subsequent disciplinary action. Less than three months later, he launched Facebook.
In September 2010, Zuckerberg donated $100 million to the Newark Public School System to help renovate and revamp the system.
Zuckerberg won the 2007 Crunchie Award for ‘Best Startup CEO.’ He was the Time Magazine 2010 Person Of The Year.

V8 implements ECMAScript as specified in ECMA-262, 5th edition, and runs on Windows (XP or newer), Mac OS X (10.5 or newer), and Linux systems that use IA-32, x64, or ARM processors.
V8 compiles and executes JavaScript source code, handles memory allocation for objects, and garbage collects objects it no longer needs. V8's stop-the-world, generational, accurate garbage collector is one of the keys to V8's performance. You can learn about this and other performance aspects in V8 Design Elements.
JavaScript is most commonly used for client-side scripting in a browser, being used to manipulate Document Object Model (DOM) objects for example. The DOM is not, however, typically provided by the JavaScript engine but instead by a browser. The same is true of V8—Google Chrome provides the DOM. V8 does however provide all the data types, operators, objects and functions specified in the ECMA standard.
V8 enables any C++ application to expose its own objects and functions to JavaScript code. It's up to you to decide on the objects and functions you would like to expose to JavaScript. There are many examples of applications that do this, for example: Adobe Flash and the Dashboard Widgets in Apple's Mac OS X and Yahoo! Widgets.

In several benchmark tests, V8 is many times faster than JScript (in Internet Explorer), SpiderMonkey (in Firefox), and JavaScriptCore (in Safari). If your web application is bound by JavaScript execution speed, using V8 instead of your current JavaScript engine is likely to improve your application's performance. How big the improvement is depends on how much JavaScript is executed and the nature of that JavaScript. For example, if the functions in your application tend to be run again and again, the performance improvement will be greater than if many different functions tend to run only once. The reason for this will become clearer as you read the rest of this document.
There are three key areas to V8's performance:

Fast Property Access

Dynamic Machine Code Generation

Efficient Garbage Collection

Google engineer Lars Bak explains the key engineering decisions behind V8, the JavaScript virtual machine used in Google Chrome.

Skype is famous for its video and voice conferencing. With smooth integration with Facebook, this could be a real treat for those who love the site, but hate the slow chat function. Facebook users also no longer have to take their conversation or invite other users somewhere else if they’d like to video chat with one another. The only big snag so far is that communication must be computer-to-computer. Those who want to join in with their phones are left out in the cold for a while until Skype and Facebook can figure it out. These calls are possible through Skype Apps., just not integrated with Facebook itself yet. Facebook friend-to-friend video calls are also limited only to friends that are added through Facebook. Although it works with Skype, if your Skype contacts are not also Facebook friends, they can’t be contacted when using the feature. File-sharing and watching Youtube videos is possible, but may cause the application to crash for some people.

For those who have already tested it, however, set up is simple. Call quality is high and it is easy to leave video messages. Those who want group conferencing, whether it be through audio or video, may flock to Google+ instead. Facebook's new rival will be offering "hangouts" or video and audio chat with up to ten people from the very get-go. This is, however, just a start. This Facebook/Skype mash-up could completely overtake the competition once the kinks are worked out.

Google plus - New Social network

Google is trying once again to challenge Facebook's domination of the social-networking business, this time with a service called Google Plus. But you're not allowed to join it — at least, not yet.

"It's small but growing," says Bradley Horowitz, who oversees Google's communications products and social applications.
Horowitz says Google Plus is still in "field-testing," so invitations have been sent only to a limited number of early adopters and journalists. It's similar to the roll-out strategy for Gmail and Google Voice. And if the company is lucky, the perceived scarcity will build up demand — but for what exactly?
"We've created a system that's based on the concept of circles, so that I can take my college friends and drag them into a circle called 'college buddies,' and I can take my work colleagues and drag them into a circle that's called 'work friends.' And I can share selectively the parts of myself with those circles that I choose to," he says.
In other words, Google Plus is trying to solve the age-old problem of what to do when you're friended by your mom. In a promotional video, Google promises that organizing your online life into circles may actually help you to loosen up.
Facebook allows users to do something similar, with an option called "groups." But some users complain the feature is clumsy to manage.
Google Plus, on the other hand, puts circles up front. Whenever you upload a photo or a bit of news, Google checks whom you intend to see it.
Richard Esguerra, of the Electronic Frontier Foundation, says the company seems to be trying to recover from privacy controversies involving its earlier social-networking efforts, like the ill-fated Google Buzz.
"They're trying to fix a lot of different things about their own approach to social networking and privacy," he says. "And also about the general social-networking model, and for now I think we're seeing a good start."
Google is also promising to let you move your information out of Google Plus, if you decide to, and the company says it will let you delete your information from its servers — a promise Facebook has never made.
Last summer, an engineering intern named Pieter Senster joined the mobile advertising team to explore how we could display Flash animations on devices that don’t support Adobe Flash player. Pieter made such great progress that Google hired him full time and formed a team to work on the project. Swiffy was born!

Swiffy, a new web-based tool that allows developers to easily convert Adobe Flash animation SWF files into HTML5. This will allow developers to make Flash ads and basic ActionScript interactions accessible to users on devices that don’t support Flash, like the iPhone and iPad.

Swiffy is very similar to a tool that Adobe released earlier this year called Wallaby. The main difference is that Swiffy is web-based, whereas Wallaby is a client that runs on a Mac or PC. Additionally, Wallaby’s code is designed to be edited and reused, whereas Swiffy’s code is optimized and compressed in such a way that makes editing difficult.

The Swiffy demo page shows off the power of the tool. In addition to converting basic banner ad animations, click-event interactions can also be converted to HTML5. To be clear, this won’t convert videos, complex animations or games, but the tool meets its desired goal quite adequately.

Swiffy takes advantage of more advanced SVG features, which means that the only browsers that support the converted code right now are Webkit-based. That means Safari and Chrome on the desktop and Mobile Safari on iOS will support the converted files.

Sometimes this may not work in your browser because your browser doesn't support HTML5. So update your browser to a latest version and try this again.

Android vs iPhone - Infographic

Play with Intel - Next Generation Intel Core i5

This is very interesting video created by Intel corporation. I hope this will give you a new experience in video gaming and promotions.
It even has an optional battery pack, so it doesn't have to plugged into the 110VAC outlet for power.

While quite revolutionary, the Osborne does have its limitations. For example, the screen is only 5" (diagonal) in size, and can't display more than 52 characters per line of text. To compensate, you can actually scroll the screen display back and forth with the cursor keys to show lines of text up to 128 characters wide.

   The Osborne was designed with transportation in mind - it had to be rugged and able to survive being moved about. That's one reason that the screen is so small - a larger and heavier screen would be more susceptable to damage.

The two pockets beneath the floppy drives work great for floppy disk storage, although the Osborne modem also fits perfectly in the the left pocket and plugs into the front-mounted "modem" port.

Designed as a true portable computer system - it can be considered airline carry-on luggage, and it will fit under the passenger seat of any commercial airliner.

While the Osborne was a good deal at $1795, it also came bundled with about $1500 of free software:

CP/M System

CP/M Utility

SuperCalc spreadsheet application

WordStar word processing application with MailMerge

Microsoft MBASIC programming language

Digital Research CBASIC programming language

The Osborne was a huge overnight success, with sales reaching 10,000 units a month.
In September 1981, Osborne Computer Company had its first US$1 million sales month.

#apt-get install apache2
Then subversion:

#apt-get install subversion
Now I need to install mod_dav_svn module. I tried serveral searches using aptitude. Then I found out that libapache2-svn package provides mod_dav_svn plugin, so I installed it.

#apt-get install libapache2-svn
The most interesting part is, when we install pre-compiled package using apt-get or aptitude they edit configaration files accordingly.
When we install apache2 it installs configuration files in the /etc/apache2 directory. Modules are placed inside /etc/apache2/mods-enabled/.
In normal installation we found only httpd.conf for managing httpd server's configuration but in Debian we manipulate two configuration files namely "apache2.conf" and "httpd.conf".
As the book stated I edited httpd.conf as following:

LoadModule dav_module      /etc/apache2/mods-enabled/mod_dav.so
LoadModule dav_svn_module /etc/apache2/mods-enabled/mod_dav_svn.so

After restarted httpd server:

debian:/etc/apache2# /etc/init.d/apache2 restart
Forcing reload of web server: Apache2[Sun Mar 05 20:21:41 2006] [warn] module dav_module is already loaded, skipping
[Sun Mar 05 20:21:41 2006] [warn] module dav_svn_module is already loaded, skipping
[Sun Mar 05 20:21:42 2006] [warn] module dav_module is already loaded, skipping
[Sun Mar 05 20:21:42 2006] [warn] module dav_svn_module is already loaded, skipping

It seems that module already loaded then, so I commented out that newly added two lines (little devation from the book).

debian:/etc/apache2# /etc/init.d/apache2 restart
Forcing reload of web server: Apache2.

Then I created repository using 'svnadmin':

$svnadmin create /home/achila/svn/repos

Then created directory in that repository:

$svn mkdir /home/achila/svn/repos/test

Then I setup htpasswd to authenticate svn repos

Create an HTTP authentication file
To setup and create the authentication file for the first time, run:

sudo /usr/sbin/htpasswd -cm /etc/svn-auth-file some_username
or
sudo htpasswd -cm /etc/svn-auth-file some_username
To add additional users to this file, use

sudo /usr/sbin/htpasswd -m /etc/svn-auth-file new_username
or
sudo htpasswd -m /etc/svn-auth-file new_username

Edit the Apache config vhost file , /etc/apache2/sites-available/default and add these lines or Directly add them to your /etc/apache2/apache.conf

<location>
DAV svn
SVNPath /home/achila/svn/repos
AuthType Basic
AuthName "Authorization Realm"
AuthUserFile /etc/absolute-auth-file
Require valid-user
</location>

Restart Apache

sudo /etc/init.d/httpd restart
If you are getting any permission while accessing the repo, set permissions of the svn repository to the 777

#chmod -R 777 svn

Difference Between 1G, 2G, 2.5G, 3G, Pre-4G and 4G

1G is the first generation celullar network that existed in 1980s. It transfer data (only voice) in analog wave, it has limitation because there are no encryption, the sound quality is poor and the speed of transfer is only at 9.6kbps.

2G is the second one, improved by introducing the concept of digital modulation, which means converting the voice(only) into digital code(in your phone) and then into analog signals(imagine that it flys in the air). Being digital, they overcame some of the limitations of 1G, such as it omits the radio power from handsets making life more healthier, and it has enhanced privacy.

2.5G is a transition of 2G and 3G. In 2.5G, the most popular services like SMS (short messaging service), GPRS, EDGE, High Speed Circuit switched data, and more had been introduced.

3G is the current generation of mobile telecommunication standards. It allows simultaneous use of speech and data services and offers data rates of up to 2 Mbps, which provide servcies like video calls, mobile TV, mobile Internet and downloading. There are a bunch of technologies that fall under 3G, like WCDMA, EV-DO, and HSPA and others.

In telecommunications, 4G is the fourth generation of cellular wireless standards. It is a successor to the 3G and 2G families of standards. In 2008, the ITU-R organization specified the IMT-Advanced (International Mobile Telecommunications Advanced) requirements for 4G standards, setting peak speed requirements for 4G service at 100 Mbit/s for high mobility communication (such as from trains and cars) and 1 Gbit/s for low mobility communication (such as pedestrians and stationary users)

A 4G system is expected to provide a comprehensive and secure all-IP based mobile broadband solution to laptop computer wireless modems, smartphones, and other mobile devices. Facilities such as ultra-broadband Internet access, IP telephony, gaming services, and streamed multimedia may be provided to users.

PRE-4G technologies such as mobile WiMAX and Long term evolution (LTE) have been on the market since 2006 and 2009 respectively, and are often branded as 4G. The current versions of these technologies did not fulfill the original ITU-R requirements of data rates approximately up to 1 Gbit/s for 4G systems. Marketing materials use 4G as a description for LTE and Mobile-WiMAX in their current forms.
I was click on that and It opens a new page and requested my Facebook login again. Site was just like facebook and I though its Facebook login. But I was little bit confused because I was already logged in to Facebook. I filled username and half of the password and before complete it I checked the url. Then I realize its a phishing on Facebook. Because url was totally different (http://www.fuizesbooks.com/update/index9.php).

If you see this post in your wall, please don't click on that. If you click on that, don't fill the username and password and send. Because then this site will have your login credentials for facebook and they will log in to your account and send it to your all the friends. If you have already done this report facebook, remove the post and change your password.
It’s called WebP and it’s pronounced “weppy”. You can create WebP images in Acorn, Pixelmator, ImageMagick, Leptonica and XnConvert. If you use Photoshop, you can also install the WebP plugin.
Here’s a gallery comparing WebP to JPEG.
The problem is it’s currently only supported by Chrome and Opera, but if all of us in the web community make enough noise, we might succeed in getting it to be adopted by all major browsers. Please voice your support of WebP by …

Commenting below. If we can get 500+ comments, then we’ll send this post to our contacts on the IE, Firefox and Webkit teams

Re-tweeting this post

Telling your followers, friends and clients about WebP

If we all voice our support of this awesome new image format, the web might just speed up by about 38.9% :)
If you can’t see the image above, then your browser doesn’t support WebP. Come on and help us get this adopted by all browsers!
