I wanted to follow up on my previous posts, by stating that the volcano is still nowadays showing signs that it could rally back up as several years ago. http://www.nacion.com/sucesos/desastres/Emanaciones-volcan-Arenal-alegria-Fortuna_0_1365463459.html According to that news article, the eruptions could come back up and the vapor blow ups could lead to good news for everyone. We all know here in La Fortuna that the volcano is the main attraction here, and that there is nothing nicer than to watch it erupt at night. I have experience this many times. I even slept with my room door open at times, to be able to catch the falling rocks tumbling down the side of the volcano cliffs. A nice beer at night watching the volcano was the best way to end the day. I think it will one day be back at this in no time.

Since the volcano is not so active recently, we want you to know we have at the hotels really awesome rafting experiences and also lots of adventure areas nearby that can truly make your arenal volcano experience: MAGNIFICENT. This means that now we can get closer to the arenal volcano lava without getting burned. But be careful not to stay too close to the lava, for you need to have 10 minute escape routes, cause that is all the time you have got to flee. We are waiting for a big one, but meanwhile get up there and see the volcano up close and personal. !!

The recent earthquakes in the Nicoya area have been feeling pretty intense around these parts. The volcano shook strongly and some even believed it could re start shooting up lava. But it didn't, and instead has been sleeping and waiting. Its waiting for more activity. But who know's? One of these days it might just erupt really strong like in the old days. I really enjoyed those days with a Corona, a full moon and a constant night of eruptions, right next to the hotel pool. But they will come back. Sooner rather than later.

The Arenal Volcano area has grown a lot in the past year. I am glad to tell you all that the range of hotels in the area in awesome. But still having the best view of the colossus keeps being Hotel Tacotal. I have been there personally and recommend it.
Also ask for the new hot springs called Termales los Laureles, which is a very cheap hot spring for kids and young tourists. It has several pools and know that it will provide to younglings the best time at the Arenal volcano area. And who knows, maybe you could even catch a glimpse of the volcano while on the hot springs

Lowest Season for a long time

I am sorry to write this entry, put it is totally true.
The high season is over, and worst part is now here.
The high season was nothing like the high season we used to have
around these parts.

But now the really tough part starts.
The REALLY LOW season has started and its an all out buyers market.
The hotel marketing managers are scrambling for whoever wants to come
and just stay with them. Others just want to focus on maintain the
quality service so they will drop their prices even more.

So until june 1st, it is the clients market. Go ahead and enjoy.
It is your time to now use and take every single tour you wanted almost for free.
And to eat cheap for a much better quality than you thought you could.

We will be waiting for you guys.

Everyone of the main fortuna hotel owners is worried about the new influx of huge hotel developers. The place is getting crowded with offers, but not a lot of new tourists are coming our way. We have an idea where this is going to head = cannibalism. The big hotels buying out the small hotels and then the chains coming to buy everything. Funny thing is that hotel chains havent showed up on the Arenal Volcano footsteps. Right now , the owners are still costarrican, but in the following years that could change, and in a remarkable way. Just wait and see.

One time there was this tourist out on the road in front of our hotel, just walking around and wandering back and forth, and eventually he came around to our main lobby and asked the hotel receptionist, =
"excuse me, what direction is the volcano located?"

the receptionist told the tourist = "Are you joking? Cant you see where a huge volcano is? "

the tourist said that it was just too foggy to really know where it was. Actually he was looking for the volcano in the exact opposite direction. (it can sometimes get really bad)

so we all had a great laugh with the tourist, because we that live here find that totally amusing.

High Season came early this year.
By November 15 of the present year the hotel started feeling the
new high season.
Full House means full 42 rooms entirely filled out.
We have that happening earlier than ever.
It usually happened until december 20th or december 15th,
but now 7 years later this arenal volcano hotel has become a destination
for the avid Tacotal traveler.

Arenal Volcano Hotel Tacotal is now in low season. Prices are low and sometimes you can get
more for your buck. Just bargain with our receptionists and you will at least get a free drink
at the door.

Many interesting people have been going back and forth to the hotel for some time now and I have been wrting this blog for a long time now.
I like the idea that you people have been getting the most sincere info about the hotel and the Arenal Volcano through here.
We have a great hotel right now with 45 rooms and have had a great time since 2000.
The hotel was inaugurated on September 30th, 2000 and seven years later here we are.
We will continue using this blog for a long long time, until the hotel gets sold to someone else
or its burnt to the ground, but we will be here meanwhile.

weekend getaway

Hi everybody,we decided to take a weekend getaway to La Fortuna to do a little mountain biking,like always we decided to stay at the Hotel Lavas Tacotal,to our surprise they had a big surprise for all of their guests,even thought it is not celebrated in Costa Rica they had a celebration for Thanksgiving Day,I guess to cater their american guests but as long as you like turkey with cranberry sauce you were welcome to the feast,they had 4 huge turkeys,we ate until we couldn't eat no more,we had a great time,thank you very much Hotel Tacotal.
One more time that we miss the good eruptions of the Arenal Volcano but I was able to find another very nice picture of the eruptions that the Arenal Volcano had earlier this month,this picture was taken if I'm correct November 1st,2006,I won't rest until I see one this eruptions with my own eyes,even if I have to keep going every other week,hahaha,plus I like the area of the Arenal Volcano a lot,til next time.

What are you waiting for?.
If you haven't check into it and want to visit the Arenal Volcano area you should
hurry,with the holidays and the summer coming the vacancy in the Arenal Volcano hotels
should be getting pretty low now,plenty of locals and foreigners travelling in Costa Rica
national parkslike to enjoy the Arenal Volcano National Park this time of the year,the
weather is getting better so the visibility increases and the chances of watching the
Arenal Volcano erupting are better.
Imagine going for a hike and then coming for a nice massage and body therapy(that's what
I like,nothing wrong wit hwanting to look good,lol),some of the Arenal Volcano hotels are
known for giving these treatments.
The picture is a little dark but you can notice the lava flow,it was taken on early
november and it shows one of the lastest eruptions of the Arenal Volcano.

The high season is almost here(Dec 1st,2006)so is the best weather to visit and enjoy the beauty of Costa Rica's Arenal Volcano.
If you're a local or visiting Costa Rica don't forget to visit the area of the Arenal Volcano National Park,you could have a great experience checking out some of the Arenal Volcano mini eruptions which are nature fireworks,there are a few different spots from where you can see them,especially from one of the Arenal Volcano hotels in the area,one of the most popular ones and is the one we visit is Lavas Tacotal Lodge which besides offering great views also offers a variety of different activities,like hiking,horseback and cycling tours.
Talking about cycling,coming up in mid February in the area there is the Vuelta al Lago bicycle ride,it is a 2 day ride around the Lago Arenal which is not part of the Arenal Volcano National Park but is often visited while visiting the Arenal Volcano,the picture even though is a little blurry gives you an idea of the views that you could have of Lago Arenal and the Arenal Volcano.
If you are interested at all in visiting the area,with the high season coming you should start putting your trip together if you want to be able to find a room,a few of the Arenal Volcano hotels have interactive websites that could answer most of your questions,if you want to explore and have a good time give the Arenal Volcano area a try,you won't regret it.

As I was telling a few days ago,now that is the low season is the best time to enjoy taking that much needed vacation.
I just made it back from La Fortuna area and enjoying some of the amenities of a Arenal volcano hotel.
Me and my friends decided to stay at the Tacotal Arenal volcano hotel,great price range,excellent customer service and a great view of the volcano,like I mentioned in another messge,they have an interactive website(Tacotal.com) so you can take care of all your needs in there.
Besides observing the volcano activity we also took a guided horseback ride which was a lot of fun because none of us is a great rider,but just going on the ride takes your mind totally out work and all that you left at home.
That was a quick update of a Arenal volcano hotel you can use while visiting the area.
