Adoptable ARF Pets
ARF spends about 125-250 rehabbing its rescue dogs, and they all receive lots of TLC in their foster homes. These dogs are fixed and available for adoption through ARF (Humane Society of Jackson County). For more information, call 877-ARF-JCNC (877-273-5262). All adult dogs are $70 unless listed otherwise; that includes spay or neuter, heartworm test, worming, dhpp series, bordatella, and rabies vaccine. Puppies are $70 to $100, depending on care received.

This senior Shih Tzu was surrendered to the Jackson County Animal Shelter when his owners were no longer able to care for him. He was considered a medical case due to severe allergies and itching. With quick action from Animal Control Officers and loving care from an ARF foster, Vic feels much better and he found a perfect home today! Bon voyage, Vic!

Remember, vaccinating your pet against rabies is required by NC law!

Kittens are cute but there are SO many cats and kittens needing homes. Let's work together to stop this problem! This little guy Luther grew up at Catman2 Shelterand was able to find a fantastic home, but most are not that lucky. Need to fix a cat or dog? Come down to ARF Jackson County Humane Society tomorrow from 1-3PM to register for Monday's spay/neuter trip. Sign-ups are every Saturday from 1-3PM. Catman2 Shelter is providing low-to-no-cost spay/neuter services for cats in Jackson County. If you are in 28779, it's automatically free. ARF is providing those services to dogs in Whittier! Toby is an awesome hound/shar pei mix who is about 60 lbs. He's 2.5 yrs old, great with other dogs, housebroken, and good on a leash after he calms down. He loves children but quite strong and seems to knock down toddlers, so he would do best with dogs and older children. Toby is hw negative and fully vetted. He loves dog biscuits but hates dry dog food. He is crate trained but prefers to ride in the car where he can see you; otherwise he will yell in outrage.

Candace is a very sweet young border collie mix Who weighs about 40 lbs. She is housebroken and gentle. She's very fearful of new people, exuberant children, loud noises, and strange dogs who are bigger than her. So she needs a gentle owner who will go slow with her until she feels safe. She loves treats, is great on a leash, likes crates, and is housebroken. In her foster home she is comfortable in a large pack ranging from huge to tiny, so she will do fine with the proper introductions.

Meet Lola Mae, an adorable 1yr old hound mix who is looking for a loving home. Once an injured and pregnant stray, Lola Mae is now happy and healthy thanks to medical care and a great foster home provided by ARF. Lola Mae will be at ARF tomorrow (Saturday) from 1-3pm interviewing everyone who comes to visit to see if they're the right new friend for her ;) Her adoption fee is $70 and she is fully vetted and ready to find true love!
