How did you hear about the program? When I was in my first semester of college, I started watching YouTube videos by a girl named Eryne who was doing the DCP and I became obsessed!
How was the interview process? This time around, the interview process was pretty minimal. I submitted my application, took/passed the web-based interview, and then I was accepted. In the past, there was a phone interview, but that isn’t being used anymore.
Where were you when you found out? When I found out I was sitting on my couch watching Disney movies. I had just gotten my wisdom teeth removed so I was in a decent amount of pain, but I was so excited that I’d be going back to Disney World!
What is your role? Preferred roles? For this program, I will be working QSR, which means quick service restaurant. In the past I did custodial and I am excited that I’ll be doing something new this time! My dream role would be attractions at the Haunted Mansion!
How did you find your roommates? How many do you want? This time I went blind with my roommates. In the past, I found roommates through the Facebook groups, but there wasn’t a lot of time to find anyone this time so I decided to leave it up to Disney! Also, with the new apartment complex, I will have 3 roommates. I got a 2x2, meaning 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, so I will be sharing a room and bathroom with one roommate, which is exciting!
What are you going to miss while in the program? I’m going to miss my boyfriend, my family, and my dog. That was the hardest part about leaving for my last program and I know it is going to be the hardest part about this program as well.
What’s your favorite Disney park? To be honest, I love them all! Magic Kingdom is the queen of Disney World, but I love the atmosphere of Hollywood Studios and I love the food and drinks at Epcot! Animal Kingdom is my least favorite, but she’s still a gem and I can’t wait to visit them all!
First thing you want to do when you get there? I’ll be arriving in Orlando the night before my check-in, so the first thing I plan on doing is to go to Disney Springs. I’ll probably grab something to eat, buy a few pins, and soak up a bit of Disney Magic!
What is number 1 on your bucket list? Honestly, on my first program, I had a full bucket list and I never did half of the things on it (partially because the program was ended early due to Covid) but this time I want to live in the moment and take it all in. Some things I want to do this time include visiting the water parks and visiting Universal.
One thing you hope to take away from the program? Friends! Last time I made the best friends and I can’t wait to do it again!

DCP Memory Box

One day on my program I was feeling particularly creative and I decided to make a memory box for the things I had accumulated on my college program. I went to T.J. Maxx and bought a decorative box with a magnetic clasp and started thinking of how I could make it magical. I went to Michael’s Craft Store and bought a roll of duct tape, little letter patches that spelled out “DCP,” a scrapbook sticker of a castle, and some decorative gem stickers. When I got back to my apartment, I laid out my materials and got to work. I covered the box in the duct tape, which took a lot of time and the entire roll. Then I glued the “DCP” patches to the top of the box and stuck the castle sticker in the center. I placed the gem stickers around the edge and stood back to look at my masterpiece.

Now, over a year later, the memory box looks a bit different than it did when I first made it. A few of the gem stickers have popped off and a handful of stickers mocking the early end of the 2020 DCP have been added to the front, but the sentiment of the box remains the same. Inside I keep some of my favorite CP memories. My ears from traditions, my graduation ears, my program guide, my water bottle holder, assorted stickers and park maps and times guides, and little souvenirs from my program all live inside of my DCP memory box. It’s a fun memory that holds even more fun memories and I can’t wait to make a memory box for my 2021 college program.

Welcome to the new and improved Ariel’s Grotto! Originally this blog was created to document my Disney College Program in the Spring of 2020, but unfortunately, I got carried away with the program itself and didn’t document my experiences here. But I’m back!

I’ve decided to use this blog to recall stories of my previous college program, share photos and memories of that program, and document my upcoming Disney College Program. With the announcement of the return of the DCP, I submitted an application and excitedly accepted my offer a week later. I’m so excited that I’ll be returning to Disney World and I can’t wait to make magic again.
