Before using Sammohanastra,Arjun had comprehensively defeated all kuru warriors,he defeated Bhishma,Drona,three times defeated Karna,Ashwathama,Duryodhan,Dushasan and entire kuru army.

After using Sanmohanastra,Arjun waited till they all recovered. He neither slew them while they lay senseless, nor did he use the opportunity to escape the battlefield.He pierced Bhishma again who was not under the effect of Sanmohan.Bhishma himself said that they all have been vanquished fairly,and Arjun is not wicked or a sinner,that's why they have not been slain.

And those white steeds, urged on, took Arjuna away from the midst of battle-field and beyond the array of the infantry bearing standards in their hands. And, Bhishma, beholding that best of men thus going away, struck him with arrows. And Partha, too, having slain Bhishma's steeds, pierced him with ten shafts. And abandoning Bhishma on the field of battle, having first slain his car-driver, Arjuna with a good-looking bow in hand came out of that multitude of cars, like the sun emerging from the clouds. And Dhritarashtra's son, that foremost of heroes among the Kurus, recovering his senses, saw the son of Pritha standing like the lord of the celestials, alone on the battle-field. And at this, Santanu's son, smiling, said unto him, 'Where had been this sense of thine, and where had been thy prowess too, when thou hadst been in a state of unconsciousness renouncing thy arrows and handsome bow? Vibhatsu is not addicted to the commission of atrocious deeds; nor is his soul inclined to sin. He renounceth not his principles even for the sake of the three worlds. It is for this only that all of us have not been slain in this battle.

And the illusion created (by Viswakarma) melted away and Uttara's own banner bearing the device of a lion was set up on the car again. And having replaced the arrows and quivers of those foremost of the Kuru princes, and also that other weapon the (Gandiva) which enhances the fierceness of a battle, the illustrious prince of Matsya set out for the city with a glad heart, having Kiritin as his charioteer.

As you all can read,Arjun only used his ape banner(Not Chariot) on Uttar's chariot.(Arjun got this ape banner from Agni during Khandav Dahan).After Viraat war was over,the ape banner was melted along with other creatures and the chariot got back its original banner of lion.

Arjun used Nandighosh Chariot during Khandava Dahan and Kurukshetra war,not Viraat war.During Viraat was Arjun was on an ordinary chariot which was vulnerable.

The monkey on banner roared which caused fear in the hearts of soldiers,nothing more.Roaring won't help against Maharathi's and Arjun himself on his chariot had to hear that roaring.

- UTTAR'S CHARIOT WAS NOT DIVINE SO IT DID NOT HAVE ANY PROTECTION AGAINST CHARIOT DESTRUCTION.

- THE APE ON HIS CHARIOT WAS ONLY FOR ROARING AND CREATING FEAR IN THE HEART OF SOLDIERS.

- NOT EVEN A SINGLE LINE IN VIRAAT WAR WHERE THAT APE HELPED ARJUN BY PROTECTING HIS CHARIOT.

- NOWHERE IN VIRAAT WAR IS IT WRITTEN ABOUT APE INTERFERING BETWEEN THE DUELS OF ARJUN WITH KARNA/DRONA/BHISHMA.

Then the heroic Dussasana pierced the son of Virata with a crescent-shaped arrow and he pierced Arjuna with another arrow in the breast. And Jishnu, confronting Dussasana, cut off by means of a sharp-edged arrow furnished with vulturine wings his adversary's bow plaited with gold, and then pierced his person in the breast by means of five arrows. And afflicted by the arrows of Partha. Dussasana fled, leaving the combat. Then Vikarna, the son of Dhritarashtra, pierced Arjuna--that slayer of hostile heroes, by means of sharp and straight arrows furnished with vulturine wings. And penetrating through the bodies of elephants and horses as also through steel coats of mail, the arrows shot by Partha fell by thousands. Arjun too had a lot of disadvantages-

- He had to handle 2 Akshoni Kuru Army alone.

- He had to handle the likes of Bhishma,Drona,Karna,Kripa,Duryodhan,Ashwathama,Dushasan,Vikarna etc alone.

- He had to protect Uttar too,if uttar gone then Game Over.

- He had to protect his chariot too,if the chariot destroyed,then again Game Over,he did not have any extra chariot.

- He could not retreat and take rest like Karna did twice.

- He had to use celestial weapons with great care due to the cows present in the battlefield.

5) And then the mighty-armed Partha cut off Karna's bow into fragments.

6)And Vibhatsu slew the steeds of Karna by means of sharp and tough arrows shot from the bow-string drawn to the ear, and deprived of life they dropped down on the ground.

MISCONCEPTION - ARJUN KILLED A WEAPONLESS KARNA

Whenever Karna fans start losing a debate,like typical losers they always cry - If Arjuna was so great why did he kill an unarmed Karna when he was lifting his chariot.They abuse Arjuna,even abuse lord Krishna for this.

Well,as per the most researched sanskrit texts,Karna was not killed in weaponless state.He was fighting Arjun,even discharged Brahmastra and Varunastra,he got killed because he failed to counter Anjalika Weapon of Arjun.

SCENE :- KARNA'S CHARIOT WHEEL STUCK IN GROUND,NOW HE IS TALKING OF WISDOM 😛 LORD KRISHNA ACCUSING KARNA OF ALL THE SINFUL DEEDS HE DID IN HIS LIFE.

“When Vasudeva addressed Radheya in this way, Pandava Dhananjaya remembered all this and was overcome by great rage. Energetic flames of anger seemed to issue out from all the pores on his body and it was extraordinary.”

अभ्यवर्षत्पुनर्यत्नमकरोद्रथसर्जने ||८||

“On seeing this, Karna again invoked brahmastra against Dhananjaya. He showered down arrows and tried to extricate his chariot. Pandava countered those weapons with his own weapons.”

मुमोच कर्णमुद्दिश्य तत्प्रजज्वाल वै भृशम् ||९||

वारुणेन ततः कर्णः शमयामास पावकम् |

“Kounteya then released another weapon, beloved of the fire god, towards Karna. It blazed fiercely. Karna pacified the fire through a varuna weapon. He covered all the directions with clouds and it was as dark as a rainy day."

It blazed in its rays, like the one with one thousand rays.It was capable of penetrating the inner organs and smearing itself with blood and flesh. It was extremely expensive and was like the fire and the sun. It could destroy men, horses and elephants and was three cubits long, with six tufts.801 It travelled straight and possessed a great force. In its energy, it was like the vajra of the one with one thousand eyes. It was as difficult to withstand as predatory beasts. It was like the pinaka and Narayana’s chakra. It was fearful and destructive of living beings”

It is extremely difficult to withstand and is capable of destroying the body . If I have tormented myself through austerities and have satisfied my seniors, if I have listened to what my well-wishers have told me, through that truth, let this arrow slay my armoured enemy, Karna, and bring me victory.’ Having said this, for the sake of Karna’s death, Dhananjaya released that terrible arrow. It was as fierce as rites performed by Atharvan and Angiras. It blazed and was impossible to be endured in a battle, even by Death itself.”

“Kiriti cheerfully said, ‘Let this arrow bring me victory.’ Wishing to slay Karna, bring about his end and convey him to Yama, he released the arrow, which was as radiant as the sun and the moon. Cheerfully, so that he could be conveyed towards victory, the one with the diadem and the garland shot the arrow. It was as radiant as the sun and the moon. He harboured feelings of enmity and wished to slay his enemy. That weapon, blazing like the sun, was shot. Like the sun, it lit up the earth with its radiance. The head of the commander of the army was severed. Like the sun, with a red disc, it seemed to set.”

So as we all can read,Karna was killed pretty fairly,the only thing unfair was Karna fighting on ground,but he did have his Vijaya bow in hand,he also used Brahmastra and Varunastra but he failed to counter the deadly Anjalika Arrow which dispatched him to Yama's abode.

Even Arjun faced Kuru Army on foot without any chariot on Day 14,inside chakravyuh.Just using a bow , Arjun vanquished them all.That time Arjun was fighting a "Maharatha" (One on Many),but here both Karna and Arjuna were fighting as "Rathas" (One on One).

Karna fans say that Abhimanyu was killed fairly,group attacks were common,So what about this,Karna didn't even have to face any group attack.Abhimanyu was not on his chariot,similarly Karna was not on his chariot.Abhimanyu had to face 7 warriors together,Karna just had to face one warrior.If Abhimanyu wadh was fair then this is perfectly fair.

Seems like Karna fans did not read our post carefully,like we said in our previous post,Karna's digvijay "Chapter" in Vana Parva is an interpolation,which in not present in all Northern Recensions as well as Dakshinatya too.

However,Dhritrashtra mentions about Karna subjugating several Kingdoms in Karna Parva.

That chapter of Karna’s Digvijay was deliberately added in Vana Parva for glorifying his conquests and which is not in all sanskrit texts and neither in Dakshinatya nor in Nilakantha.

Some inconsistencies in that chapter can be pointed out -

Here the ruler of ‘Anga’ is also called ‘Mleccha’ king,so basically ‘Anga’ has been used sometimes for ‘Mleccha’.

- After this,Arjun prays Shiva,Narayana and lifts the bow.

- Finally the sloka,"The bow which Rukma,Sunitha,Radha's Son(Karna) with great efforts could not even string,Arjun did that with ease."

MISCONCEPTIONS REGARDING ARJUNS DEFEAT AGAINST BABRUVAHANA

It has became the routine of blind Karna fans to degrade Arjuna on the basis of his encounter with Babruvahana, his own son. Did Babruvahana kill his sire, viz. Arjuna ? No, he was neither killed nor defeated by anyone.

Lets go through the epic itself to analyze this incident.

The battle between Arjuna and his son Babruvahana happened, when the former reached Manipura as part of his Aswamedha sacrifice. Before discussing the battle between sire and son, lets check the instructions which Yudhishtira gave to Arjuna and the manner in which Arjuna fought.

Arjuna had clear instruction from his elder brother Yudhishtir not to kill any kings in battles. Yudhishtir asked Arjuna to proceed for the sacrifice in a peaceful manner. Arjuna always was obedient to his elder brother. Both Krishna and Yudhishtir were, under any circumstances acceptable to Arjuna.

Narrative :

"Yudhishthira said, 'Come, O Arjuna, let the
horse, O hero, be protected by thee. Thou
alone art competent to protect it, and none
else. Those kings, O mighty-armed hero, who
will come forward to encounter thee, try, O
sinless one, to #avoid battles with them to the
best of thy power. Thou shouldst also invite
them all to this sacrifice of mine. Indeed, O
mighty-armed one go forth but try to establish
friendly relations with them.'

So Arjuna was not with an intention to slay any of his opponents. Arjuna always tried to make peace with the kings he met throughout his way. There are many incidents to show the mildness of Arjuna in those battles.

Here are some examples

* Disregarding Arjuna's message, they assailed him with their shafts. The diadem-decked Arjuna resisted those warriors who were under the sway of darkness and passion.
Jishnu, addressed them smilingly and said,
'Desist, ye unrighteous ones. Life is a benefit
(that should not be thrown away).' At the
time of his setting out, he had been earnestly
ordered by king Yudhishthira the just, #not to
#slay those Kshatriyas whose kinsmen had
been slain before on the field of Kurukshetra.
#Recollecting these commands of king
Yudhishthira the just who was endued with
great intelligence, Arjuna asked the Trigartas
to forbear.

The Kuru hero, smiling the while, fought with that youth who resembled an angry snake. The mighty armed Dhananjaya, glad as he was in beholding the valour of Dhritavarman, did #not #take his #life. While, however, Partha of immeasurable energy #fought #mildlywith him without wishing to take his life.

Having heard these words of mine, act
towards me in that way which may best
conduce to your benefit. By acting in a
different way you will place yourselves in a
situation of great fear and danger.'

city, Meghasandhi, mounted on his car and

first struck the son of Pandu, showering his
arrows on him like the thousand-eyed Indra
showering heavy downpour of rain. Then, O
chief of Bharata's race, the heroic wielder of
Gandiva, with shafts sped from his excellent
bow, baffled all the arrows shot carefully at
him by his antagonist. Having thus baffled
that cloud of arrows, the ape-bannered hero
sped a number of blazing arrows at his foe
that resembled snakes with fiery mouths.
These arrows he shot at his flag and flag-staff
and car and poles and yoke and the horses,
#sparing the #body of his #foe and his #car-driver. Though Partha who was capable of shooting the bow with the left hand (as well as with the right) #spared the #body of the prince of Magadha, yet the latter thinking that his body was protected by his own prowess, shot many arrows at Partha. The wielder of Gandiva, deeply struck by the prince of Magadha, shone like a flowering Palasa ( Butea frondosa ) in the season of spring. Arjuna had #no #desire of #slaying the #prince of Magadha. It #was #for #thisthat, having struck the son of Pandu, he
#succeeded in #remaining #before that foremost of heroes.

When his foe became
deprived of his car, his bow, and his mace,
that foremost of warriors, viz. , the intelligent
Arjuna, did not wish to strike him. The ape-
bannered hero then, comforting his cheerless
foe who had been observant of Kshatriya
duties, said unto him these words, 'O son,
thou hast sufficiently displayed thy adherence
to Kshatriya duties. Go now. Great have been
the feats, O king, which thou hast
accomplished in battle although thou art very
young in years. The command I received from
Yudhishthira was that kings who oppose me should not be slain. It is for this thou livest yet, O monarch, although thou hast offended me in battle. Thus addressed, the ruler of Magadha considered himself vanquished and spared.

* The unvanquished Vibhatsu of righteous soul addressed them peacefully, but they were
unwilling to accept the beneficial words of
Yudhishthira (through Arjuna). Though
forbidden by Partha with sweet words, they
still gave themselves up to wrath and
surrounded the sacrificial steed.

Unto the
Gandhara king who was fighting with him,
impelled by Kshatriya duty, Arjuna said, 'I do
not intend to slay the kings who fight with
me, in consequence of the commands of
Yudhishthira. Cease, O hero, to fight with me.
Do not court defeat.' Thus addressed the son
of Sakuni, stupefied by folly, disregarded that
advice and covered with many swift arrows
the Kuru hero who resembled Sakra himself
in the feats he accomplished in battle. Then
Partha, with a crescent-shaped arrow, cut off
the head-gear of his foe. Of immeasurable
soul, he also caused that head-gear to be
borne along a great distance like the head of
Jayadratha (after he had cut it off in the battle
of Kurukshetra). Beholding this feat, all the
Gandhara warriors became filled with
wonder. That #Arjuna voluntarily #spared their king was well understood by them.

We can understand from the above narratives that Arjuna was fighting mildly under the instructions of king Yudishtira. He did not wish to slay anyone.

Now coming to the battle between Sire and son, Arjuna vs Babruvahana

After reaching Manipura, Arjuna fought with his Babruvahana as part of his task. Arjuna wished not to slay Babruvahana under the order of his elder brother and also because of love towards his son. At last, Arjuna fell down into a deep swoon. It should be noted that Arjuna was not slained here. He just fell down into swoon.

The delighter of the Kurus, Dhananjaya, deeply pierced therewith by his son, then fell down in a swoon on the Earth.

After the fall of Santanu's son, those deities, viz. , the Vasus, coming to the banks of Ganga, bathed in her waters, and calling the goddess of that stream, they uttered these terrible words having the sanction of Bhagirathi herself, viz.,--Santanu's
son Bhishma has been slain by Dhananjaya.
Verily, O goddess, Bhishma then was engaged with another, and had ceased to fight. For this fault we shall today denounce a curse on Dhananjaya.--To this, the goddess Ganga readily assented, saying,--Be it so!--Hearing these words I became very much afflicted and penetrating into the nether regions represented everything to my
sire. Informed of what had happened, my sire became plunged in grief. Repairing to the
Vasus, he solicited them for thy sake,
repeatedly gratifying them by every means in
his power. They then said unto him,
'Dhananjaya has a highly blessed son who,
endued with youth, is the ruler of Manipura.
He will, standing on the field of battle, cast
Dhananjaya down on the Earth. When this
will happen, O prince of snakes, Arjuna will
be freed from our curse. Do thou go back.

The curse of Vasus was the reason for the so called 'Defeat' of Arjuna. All the curses should be respected, so is boons also. Babruvahana in fact was not a match for Arjuna. No one was able to defeat Arjuna except Arjuna himself. A son is ones ownself. It is because of this Ulupi arranged a battle between Arjuna and Babruvahana. Neither Arjuna was defeated nor killed in this battle. If falling into swoon is death, then Karna died numerous times in the entire Mahabharat. I personally feel pity for those dumb illiterate Karna fans, who made such a foolish point out of this battle. Time has arrived to put those illiterate wicked souls in any of the mental treatment centers. Otherwise they will destroy the real epic. I think, O Gandharva, that ye are superior (in prowess) to men; therefore shall I fight with thee, using celestial weapons and not with any crooked means. This fiery weapon (that I shall hurl at thee), Vrihaspati the revered preceptor of Indra, gave unto Bharadwaja, from whom it was obtained by Agnivesya, and from Agnivesya by my preceptor, that foremost of Brahmanas, Drona, who gave it away to me.'

Bowless and carless, with an eye, however, to his duty (as a warrior), handsome Abhimanyu, taking up a sword and a shield, jumped into the sky. Displaying great strength and great activity,and describing the tracks called Kausika and others, the son of Arjuna fiercely coursed through the sky, like the prince of winged creatures (viz., Garuda.). Desirous of slaying the son of Kunti, Karna then began to shoot thousands of arrows, O king, equipped with wings of gold and endued with great energy. Struck by those shafts shot from Karna's bow, the mighty Bhima leaped into the sky, filling Karna's heart with anguish. Beholding the conduct of Bhima, in battle desirous of victory, the son of Radha beguiled him by concealing himself in his car. Seeing Karna concealing himself with an agitated heart on the terrace of his car, Bhima catching hold of Karna's flagstaff, waited on the earth. All the Kurus and the Charanas highly applauded that attempt of Bhima of snatching Karna away from his car, like Garuda snatching away a snake. His bow cut off, himself deprived of his car, Bhima, observant of the duties of his order, stood still for battle, keeping his (broken) car behind him.

A ridiculous attempt to save the image of a coward LOL. It was Karna's duty to protect his bow.Was Karna not aware of the fact that he has an ordinary bow and chariot?

Even without a bow and chariot,warrior can fight,explained in Part 1 and Part 2.

BORI or Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute's critical edition is the most researched edition of Mahabharat available.It has been written after a research from more than thousands manuscripts of mahabharat.

Dakshinatya is based on three linguistic scripts.

POPULAR INTERPOLATIONS REMOVED BY BORI -

Interpolation 1: Naham Vareyami Sutam(Draupadi’s statement to Karna at swvyamvara)

It is found in three of 21 Devanagari manuscripts, in the commentary also it is noted to be a false interpolation, it does not appear in any sanskript script editions of Maithili, Nepali, Sarada. It does not appear in any Southern script version as well. It seems to have been born in one of the local language folk Mahabharatas and found its way in 3 of 21 Devanagari editions somehow.

Interpolation 2: Draupadi’s 11 sloka prayer to Krishna at Dyuta Sabha.

IN 1966, the Critical edition was finally completed and rereleased with great fan fare. It became one of the seminal moments in Indian publishing history and the research on Indian texts. This research started way back in 1818 by Colonel Todd, picked up by Godfrey Higgins, Pargiter, Pali society and finally the Bhandarkar institute which created this baseline edition. Inspired by this and other parallel efforts, Osmania came out with Critical edition for Andhra Mahabharata and similar texts. Now, many of Indian religious and secular ancient texts are available in critical editions thanks to these efforts.

One of the most glaring public accusations and attacks on the critical edition was the role of Krishna. The decisive moment of the Epic was the Dyuta and assault on Draupadi. To all the people out there who try to prove that this assault did not take place, I have nothing further to say. There are enough evidences to the guilt of Kauravas especially Karna, Dushasana and Duryodhana as well as Dhritrashtra in this matter.

The controversy in 1966 which arose was that who was the savior? The powerful force which inserted oneself between the assailant and the victim, that force is called Dharma in the critical edition.

IT was DHARMA who saved Draupadi.

This sentence was the one attacked by the faithful, the worshippers, and the lay. They felt it demoted and insulted their beloved Krishna.

But though dhai akshar prem ka , padhe so pandit hoye, these scholars missed the truth of Kabir’s missive.

As the crescendo of the faithful continued to reverberate, several scholars came together to put together a commemoration volume of papers thanking the efforts of Bhandarkar group. I quote from the papers of Swami Sidhhinathananda who changed his mind after careful introspection.

He followed the evidence from Vyasa himself.

Vyasa started Adi Parva chapter 62 with a quote jayo nametihaso yam srotavyo Vijigisuna

Those who desire Vijaya, please listen to this history called Jaya.

He ends with in Swrgahorana Parva as Jayo nametihaso yam srotavyo jayamichhataa

Those who desire Jaya, they have heard this history called Jaya.

Jaya is a revelation through this work beyond the encapsulation of Time or a single event. It is not mere victory on battlefield. It is the “VICTORY” or Jaya which the listeners want and desire and achieve by its narration.

It is Jaya achievable by all of us. It is Jaya in which we all participate.

What is this ultimate message of this Epic? Whose victory is that affects you and me and every one?

Dharma eva hato hanti, Dharmo Raksati Rakshitah

Tasmad dharmama na tyajami ma no dharmo hatotvadhit

As Yudhishthara said If Dharma is sacrificed, he that sacrifices it, is himself lost. So Dharma also cherishes the cherisher.

Therefore taking care that Dharma by being sacrificed may not sacrifice

Mahabharata is the encompassing victory of Lord, the embodiment of Dharma

with inoffensiveness is religion. Dharma protects and preserves the people. So it is the conclusions of scholars that WHAT MAINTAINS ETERNAL is DHARMA

Interpolation 3: The Sudarshana Chakra and Jayadratha

MANY OTHER INTERPOLATIONS HAVE ALSO BEEN REMOVED BY BORI.

WHY KARNA FANS DON'T LIKE BORI CRITICAL EDITION AND THEY CLAIM IT TO BE COMEDY BOOK -

Karna fans don't like this because a lot of slokas related to Karna have been removed in this edition.But the fact is,all those slokas were interpolations.BORI has referred thousands of Manuscripts, those slokas must be present only in few manuscripts and were not there in others or perhaps they had some contradictory slokas in other manuscripts.This is the reason why those slokas got removed.

The Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute does not have any person enmity with Karna.Neither they have time to waste on characters like Karna to remove all slokas favoring him.Their attempt is to make an error free edition,like the name suggests 'Critical Edition'.

Karna is indeed an over glorified warrior,several have tried to over glorify him,that's why he is the one who has a world record of folklores against his name . But the BORI CE removed all those folklores.

Now before ignorant Karna fans again claim BORI fake,i would remind them that BORI has no personal enmity with Karna.An edition made using 1259 manuscripts and 50 years of research cannot be fake.

-KMG has been translated from Bengali Manuscript along with reference from Bombay edition and some reference from Neelkantha Commentary also.

Hearing these words, Dhrstadyumna replied, "Either a brahmana or one of the royal order or a vaishya or even a #shudra ! Any one of them who is able to string this most opulent bow, noble brahmana, unto him shall my sister be given, and I say the truth."

Madhwacharya is a Vedantic scholar who re established the Vedic school of Dwaitha or dualism which says that the God and a eeva is different and it also emphasizes the differences between God Jiva and Jada. It establishes Vishnu's supremacy.

Madhwacharya is said to be a avatar of Vayu or Mukhya Prana.

The Vayu purana and the rig veda sukta establishes the fact.

Srimad Ananda Tirtha

Srimad Ananda Tîrtha, also known as Sukha Tîrtha, Pûrnabodha, and Pûrnapragnya, is the founder of the doctrine of Tattvavâda. He is the last of the great Achâryas of Vedanta, and is also the 22nd commentator on the Brahma-Sûtra of Veda Vyâsa. His doctrine asserts, as has already been noted elsewhere, that the differences are eternally real, and that hence there is more than one absolute real, and that Hari (Vishnu) is the only entity praised in the Shrutis and their adjuncts.

Thus, he always identifies the Brahman of the Upanishads with Vishnu, and forcefully argues against the dichotomy of Shrutis (tattvâvedaka / atattvâvedaka) as claimed by Sri Shankarâchârya, saying that such arbitration of apaurusheya scripture is unacceptable both logically and spiritually. He also emphasizes that it is important to understand and specifically reject other schools’ precepts, and hence devotes much time to nitpicking analyses and denunciations of other doctrines. Srimad Ananda Tîrtha is commonly identified with Madhva, the third avatâra of Mukhya PrâNa, the god of life, as given in the BaLitthâ Sûkta of the Rg Veda.

The first two avatâra-s are as Hanumân and Bhîmasena, and the third is Madhva, who came down to Earth as a sanyâsî, in order to avoid decimating the forces of evil (as he had done on the previous two occasions, and as he would have done again — upsetting the flow of Kali Yuga in the process — if he were not a sannyâsî). Srimad Ananda Tîrtha himself makes the claim to being Madhva in several instances, one of which is in the Vishnu-tattva-vinirnaya verse given on the cover page of this section. It was recognized in his own time, and it has been documented, that he had all two-and-thirty shubha-lakshaNa-s that define a rju-tâttvika-yogî, including the prescribed height of six-and-ninety inches (“shaNNavati angulo.apetam“) quoted in the Mahâbhârata-Tâtparya-Nirnaya.

Whose three divine forms have been described by Vedic statements (such as the BaLitthA Suukta of the Rg Veda); whose nature is that of great wisdom and ability, is the support of the activity of the worlds, is very worshipful (of Vishnu), and who incarnates with his full potency (with no diminution); that Vaayu, in his first avataara, carried the message of Rama as Hanuman, destroyed a fearsome army in his second with as Bheema, and in the third, as Madhva, composed the work (the Vishnu-tattva-vinirNaya) as a service to Keshava”.

The first Avatar of Sri Vayu is Hanuman son of Anjana Devi in Tretayuga. His wonderful feats and service to Rama Devaru are described in RAMAYANA.

The second Avatar is Bheema, in Dwapara Yuga, Sri Vayu Deva appeared as Bhimasena and played the most important part in the destruction of the enemies of God. In the whole of Mahabharata, Bhimasena is the most important person who never slipped from the path of righteousness and served Sri Krishna.

The Third Avatar is Sri Madhwacharya in kaliyuga. He was born near Udupi on Vijayadasamiday in the year 1238 A.D.

VAYUDEVA has 3 crore rupas in his moolarupa and is always at the service of LORD NARAYANA ..

In treta yuga vayudeva took avatara as HANUMAAN and killed many rakshas and was famous for his strength intellegence and devotion and other such qualities which he used to serve LORD RAAMA .. all this is conveyed by the word RAAMKARYADURANDHARA ..

In dwapara yuga when LORD took avatara as Krishna ,. to worship Krishna He took avatara as Bheesena in Kuru clan and killed duryodhan and his brothers ..

When Lord came down as Vedvyasa [ krishna DWAIPAYANA ]to write down puranas .. vayudeva took avatara and as sanyasi condemned all the dushahstras ..

In kaliyug he came for third time as MADHVA in south India and shattered the ego of MANIMAN and made him lustrless as he was [ by the aid of RUDRA vara boon ] was brimming with pride that there is none equal to him.

Number of Ganas in Kuru Army = More than 10000

Number of warriors in each Gana = 55*3*3 = 495

Total Warriors in 11 Akshoni Kuru Army = (10000*495) = 4950000

DRONA SAYING THIS TO KARNA,ABOUT ABHIMANYU - "O Mighty Bowman,O Son of Radha,If you can do this,make him disinclined from the fight,then attack him from behind,with bow in his hands he is incapable of being vanquished by gods and asuras together"

I have translated the word 'पश्चात' to 'Behind',but some Karna fans say that पश्चात means afterwards,not behind.

For those Karna fans,The term 'Pashchyat' is derived from the word 'Pashchim' which means west(direction),so it means behind though it has another meaning as well which is afterwards.

But for 'afterwards' पश्चात्काले is used or तत् पश्चात् is used, not पश्चात.

Too often is Arjun’s single handed triumph at

Virat war shrugged off as ‘only because of

Sanmohan Astra’. Here’s the truth.

I} PRE-SANMOHANA Astra: Kripa says, “If we six car-warriors be united, we can then be a match for and fight with that son of Pritha.”

When Karna insulted Drona for praising Arjun, a bitter volley of words broke out between Drona, Kripa, Ashwatthama and Karna. Atlast, Bhishma pacified them all. Drona then outlined his plan of action, “Let such arrangements be made that Partha may not be able to approach Duryodhana in battle, so that king Duryodhana may not be captured in consequence either of his rashness or want of judgment.”

Bhisma’s plan, “Duryodhan, proceed thou

towards the capital, taking with thee 1/4th of the army. And let another 1/4th escort the kine. With remaining 1/2 army, myself, Drona, Karna, Aswatthaman and Kripa will resolutely withstand Vibhatsu.”

Arjun, however, demolished their plan by directly attacking Duryodhan, “I suspect that anxious to save his life, Duryodhan retreateth by the southern road, taking away with him the kine. Proceed to him. I will fight him, for there the battle will not be fruitless. Defeating him I will come back, taking away the kine.'

Arjun succeeded in making the cattle turn and

flee towards Viratnagar. At this point all Kaurava warriors attacked Arjun simultaneously to save Duryodhan. Arjun then rained havoc upon Kuru army, mangling and slaughtering them at will.

“And the Kurus all lost their energy owing to the terror begot of Arjuna. And tossed and mangled by the Arjuna-gale, the forest of Arjuna's foes reddened the earth with purple secretions.”

He defeated Karna and made Kripa carless.

Drona , however, he addressed in an humble and sweet tone, saying, 'Having completed our exile in the woods, we are now desirous of avenging our wrongs. I will not strike thee unless thou strikest me first.”

Followed a fierce Arjun-Drona skirmish. Ultimately Ashwatthama, “mentally admired that feat of Parth and rushed towards him. Partha gave Drona an opportunity to leave the field.”

After defeating Ashwatthama, Arjun (once again) defeated and forced Karna to flee the battlefield. Subsequently he defeated Bhishma.

Then he defeated Duryodhan till the latter ran

away, “Duryodhana turning away his car

precipitately fled in that direction where Partha was not. And when Duryodhana was fast running away in alarm, pierced by that arrow and vomitting forth blood, Kiritin, still eager for battle and capable of enduring every enemy, thus censured him from wrath…”.

Then all Kuru warriors attacked Arjun TOGETHER, whereupon he stupefied their senses. “… evolved another irresistible weapon called Sanmohana. And entirely covering the cardinal directions with

sharp and keen-edged arrows furnished with

beautiful feathers, that mighty hero stupefied

their senses with the twang of the Gandiva. And once more, taking up with both his hands his conch, Partha, blew it with force. And those foremost of the Kuru heroes were all deprived of their senses by the sound of that conch blown by Partha.”

NOTE: Sanmohana was the weapon which shot forth arrows, whereas the twang of Gandiva and conch deprived Kauravas of their senses!!!).

II} POST-SANMOHANA Astra: Arjun did not flee away as his enemies lay senseless. He WAITED till they recovered their sense. “And Dhritarashtra's son, RECOVERING HIS SENSES, saw Partha standing alone on the battle-field.”

Bhishma explained to him, “Partha renounceth not his principles even for the sake of the three worlds. It is FOR THIS ONLY that all of us have NOT BEEN SLAIN in this battle.”

A crestfallen Duryodhan, “… no longer eager for battle, drew a deep sigh and became silent. The other warriors also resolved to return. Beholding those foremost of Kuru heroes departing for their

city, Dhananjaya, with a cheerful heart

FOLLOWED THEM. And having worshipped the

aged grandsire, as also the preceptor Drona, and having saluted with beautiful arrows Drona's son and Kripa, Partha then BROKE INTO FRAGMENTS Duryodhana's crown.”

Thus,

A) Sanmohana was used much later in the battle, only AFTER all Kaurava warriors were soundly defeated one to one.

B) Arjun waited till they all recovered from

Sanmohana. He neither slew them while they lay senseless, nor did he use the opportunity to escape the battlefield.

Salutes to this great warrior who stayed rock-

steady on his battle ethics and who alone

humbled his enemy with his prowess.

The Sanskrit slokas given by Karna fans are interpolated,they are not given in any Sanskrit edition of Mahabharat,that's why karna page admin failed to give the link of those slokas from the Sanskrit edition on sacred texts.So those slokas cannot be trusted.

Karna page admin has given the proof from the Extracted version of Geeta Press,also known as Sankchipta Mahabharat.Its not the correct source if you want to do a comprehensive analysis because its 'Sankchipta'.It does not contain line by line sanskrit slokas and its hindi translation.Extracted editions are good for normal reading but not good if you want to do a detailed research on topics like Karna's failure in Swayammwar.

What's more funny is that the admin of karna page called geeta press edition to be KMG hindi edition,LOL,later he edited his post and rectified his mistake

One Extract from KMG says that Karna succeeded and was stopped by draupadi,while three extracts from KMG say that he failed.We have proved before that one extract is an interpolation in the manuscript from KMG translation.

A)Karna's name listed among the one's who failed in the task-

Then those princes--#Karna, Duryodhana, Salwa, Salya, Aswatthaman, Kratha, Sunitha, Vakra, the ruler of Kalinga and Banga, Pandya, Paundra, the ruler of Videha, the chief of the Yavanas, and many other sons and grandsons of kings,--sovereigns of territories with eyes like lotus-petals,--one after another began to exhibit prowess for (winning) that maiden of unrivalled beauty. Adorned with crowns, garlands, bracelets, and other ornaments, endued with mighty arms, possessed of prowess and vigour and bursting with strength and energy, those princes could not, even in imagination, string that bow of extraordinary stiffness.

Even as per the PC Roy's translation,three extracts say that Karna failed and one extract say that Karna succeeded.

PC Roy translation and KMG are almost the same,both have been written from the same manuscript,so both contain similar errors.It can be concluded from PC Roy's translation also that Karna failed

Few summaries like Dutta and McKenzie say that Karna was stopped.I checked these summaries and these are not even complete,skipped a lot of things,and its really foolish to judge such complex scenarios like Karna's performance in swayamwar using summaries,they can suffer errors.However we have also provided two better summaries which are in detail and briefly cover most events in Mahabharat -C Rajgopalachari's and MV Subramanian's summaries,which say that Karna failed in Draupadi Swayamwar.

5)MISCONCEPTION FROM MADHVACHARYA COMMENTRY(MBTN)-

As per MBTN,the bow used in druapadi swyamwar was blessed by lord Shiva so that Arjun could only succeed in the challenge as drupad wanted Arjun to win.So the Karna fans are saying that due to lord shiva's boon,karna lost and its not really a victory of Arjun.It was bound to happen.

EXPLANATION:

Karna fans did not understood the words of Acharya properly,Only Arjun could win the challenge it means that a warrior of Arjun's class of perhaps a warrior superior to Arjun could have only completed the challenge.Karna failing proves that he is inferior to Arjuna.Even Bhima could have succeeded in the task as per MBTN.

THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED ON 15TH DAY WHEN THE ILLUSION HAD NOTHING TO DO. THEN TOO KARNA ALONG WITH MANY MAHARATHIS FAILED TO WITHSTAND ARJUNA.

* KARNA AGAIN FAILED TO DEFEAT ARJUNA ON 16TH DAY.

Then #Arjuna , smiling the while, #baffled

with his own weapons the # weapons of # Karna and covered the welkin, the Earth, and all the points of the compass with dense shower of arrows. The shafts of Arjuna fell like heavy clubs and spiked bludgeons. And some amongst them fell like Sataghnis and some fell like fierce thunderbolts. Slaughtered therewith, the Kaurava

force consisting of infantry and horse and cars and elephants, shutting its eyes, uttered loud wails of woe and wandered senselessly. Many were the steeds and men and elephants that perished on that occasion. Many, again, struck with shafts and deeply afflicted fled away in fear.

"'Whilst thy warriors were thus engaged in

battle from desire of victory, the Sun

approaching the Setting Mountain, entered it.

In consequence of the darkness, O king, but

especially owing to the dust, we could not

notice anything favourable or unfavourable.

The mighty bowmen (amongst the Kauravas),

fearing a night-battle, O Bharata, then retired

from the field, accompanied by all their

combatants. Upon the retirement of the

Kauravas, O king, at the close of the day, the

Parthas, cheerful at # having # obtained the

# victory , also retired to their own

encampment, jeering at their enemies by

producing diverse kinds of sounds with their

musical instruments, and # applauding #Acyuta and #Arjuna. After those heroes had thus withdrawn the army, all the troops and all the kings uttered benediction upon the Pandavas. The withdrawal having been made, those sinless men, the Pandavas, became very glad, and proceeding to their tents rested there for the night.

Duryodhana pierced him with twenty,

Saradwat's son, Kripa, with three. And

Kritavarman pierced him with ten, and

Karna with fifty. And Duhsasana

pierced him with a hundred arrows,

and Vrishasena with seven. Satyaki,

however, O king, soon made all those

great car-warriors #fly away from the

through thunderbolt Karna in that

battle, like the thunderbolt itself

beholding the Suta's son deprived of

his senses, bore that ornament of

battle away on his car, from that

Karna in that plight, the vast Dhartarashtra

host uttered cries of "Oh" and "Alas," and the

faces of all the combatants became colourless. Beholding the prowess of their king, on the other hand, O monarch, amongst the Pandavas, leonine roars and shouts and confused cries of joy arose. The son of Radha, however, of cruel prowess, recovering his senses soon enough, set his heart

on the destruction of Yudhishthira.
