That Altar of Worship

An altar is a place of sacrifice, a place where divinity met with man and it’s the place where God still meets mankind. Altars are not just an Old Testament thing but all of us have our place of sacrifice that’s our altar right there. We are not talking of the pulpit area in your church, the stage or the front where the choir sings from.

An altar is not picked up on the floor like a coin which you have dropped and altar has to be built from scratch with the blueprint from God. Every time the patriarchs build an altar and sacrificed on that altar God responded and met them on the very same place.

Yes we no longer kill animals these days but we have been made the temple of the most high
“And let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them”. Exodus 25:8 KJV and then Hebrews 8:2 KJV says “…the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man”.

God desires that He, be a huge part of our lives and may we also reciprocate such a heart by the way we offer ourselves to him. Christ came to the earth to tear the veil into two and make sure that he stops all blood sacrifice. Christ came that the altar of worship may be moved from Jerusalem and then be built into people’s hearts.

All Jesus came to do was to assert himself as the chief cornerstone, all he desires to be is to be the foundation upon which our altar of worship is built. God always manifested himself on every altar look at Abraham, Moses, Aaron, Jacob, Zachariah or even Nadab and Abihu who were killed for offering sacrifice at the altar.

God after giving Moses the Ten Commandments he says in Exodus 20:24 “An altar of earth thou shalt make unto me … where I record my name I will come unto thee, and I will bless thee. God intention for the altar is that He meets with us and spends time with us

Will you build an altar for your life, family and church?

Our Lives, Our Service Worship Leaders

Our lives and worship services should be place where we get to see the move and work of God. Our lives should be the place where we create, cleanse, prepare the messenger in anticipation for the Message. Our primary place and reason of being anointed as worship leaders is to bring man to the feet of Jesus, to bring man to the place where they connect with the presence of God.

One of the most technical things I learnt is that you cannot give away what you don't have. You can never take people to the place where you have never been either can you direct them. So many worshippers, we want to give want we don't have and if we endeavour to give away something then we ought to have it within us. At times we underestimate the real work we do when we lead worship.

"The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes".Psalms 19:7-8

"And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified". Acts 20:32

We learn from this scripture that the word of God

1. Perfect - converts the soul (brings life)

2. Makes wise those who are foolish

3. Rejoicing in the heart

4. Pure word brings light to the eyes, - guides us and directs us to Him

5. It builds us.

As Worshippers we want to see the move of God, we would like to see people small in love with God, we want to see the beautiful exchange happen, we would like to see, receive answers and soak in his presence as we lead worship, as we play music, as we do that solo, as we serve. Then if you are crying and desiring for such a move of God we need to adequately prepare for it.

Then can I tell you that it starts with you, it start with you building yourself, growing in Him, overflowing with Him. God comes and inhabits himself where there is his word. His word cannot be broken and God wherever He is given a seat and a platform to stay he inhabits, willing and open vessels God uses.

We want to see a move of God, let's be made pure by his word because only the pure will see Him, we want to see a move of God then let's allow him to direct us and guide us through his word. We desire to see man connect with God then let's allow the Life of God just flow from our lives and permeate those who are suffocating, lifeless and struggling.

We want to see the move God then let's allow God to move in our lives first.

Preparing For A Move Of God: Part 3 The Power of Life

We are living in era and season when men are just existing, there is so much coming against him especially the life of the Christian on a daily basis and that’s the reason why He is crushed beyond words. People walk into church services, conferences and concerts the still leave the same but we claim that Christ offers solutions.

When you hear people such they are giving up on God, as Worshippers we have missed a huge part of our purpose and reason for existence. We are carriers of the ark of the covenant (glory of God) and we have stashed it somewhere away from the church to experience the presence of God because we ourselves have become dull and lifeless.

If we are going to see a move of God coming through our time and generation then the we need to move to a place where a scripture like John 6:63 speaks of "It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life".

If we believe such passages of scriptures but we don't see them happening in our lives it's because we have not allowed scripture like John 8:37 to take centre stage and its says "I know that ye are Abraham's seed; but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you".

When the word of God has place in you as a worshipper, musician, dancer, video guy, the painter, usher or cleaner, we get to see that there is a quickening, there is a life and the work of the spirit is just seen easily. Are we allowing the all potent word of God to change our situations as worshippers. If we cannot connect with the presence of God how can people connect, if me as a dancer can-not connect with the presence of God how can He move when I showcase my piece.

Living a life in Christ in this season is hard and challenging but the word of God is like a+ b = c. When you allow the word to take root and shape in you then you will see quickening, the work of the Holy Spirit and also the life of God wins through your whole atmosphere. As worshippers when we allow his word to change us, then we become vessels to carry that grace to the whole church.

It's not difficult to write a song or create an awesome worship beat, the question is does it carry the spirit of God, does your new song carry the life of God or it's just a bunch of feelings placed like a poem and placed on a beat to be named a new song for the Lord. Real change in the church of today starts with us the carriers of his presence and glory.

What's people need today isn't more new songs they need the life of God and sprit to work in their life.

Preparing For A Move Of God: Part 2 - Power Over Sin

As worshippers our desire and heart is to see the move of God, is to see people connect and fall in love with God. To see mankind basking in his presence and God touching people's hearts and he in turn dwelling on our praises. We shouldn't be driven by comments about how we did or played or how well we executed the new song more than being focused on hearing God and bringing people to his feet.

It's easy to be in a crew, dance troupe, band or choir and hide away in it but when it comes to worship time before God you are standing alone before him alone. Not with anyone else but just alone. There is this one thing that you get to see happen when we take our time and invest in knowing the word of God and not just knowing the word but understanding its impact in our lives all around.

The manual we have says this, "Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you", John 15: 3. As we read the word of God it makes us clean by the washing that comes from the water if the word of God and it also bolsters within us a heart that chases purity. "Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee", Psalm 119:11 KJV.

No matter how great the message is, so long it comes from the wrong messenger then that word is tainted. Worshippers struggle with sin just like everybody else Kelvin but then we know that there are certain sins that are predominant amongst musicians, worship leader and all but the word of God isn't just a sin cleanser but a sin inhibitor. It helps us to know truth and when you know truth from evil you make better choice and become better person.

Our value as worshipper is in our purity and uprightness.

"Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward. Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults. Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression". Psalms 19:11-13

The word of God when we keep it
1. Cleanse sin and secret faults
2. Brings caution when it comes to sin
3. Dominion over sin and bring uprightness
4. Warning

These are four things we see that happen we keep and obey the word. As worshippers we don't have a passport to sin so that grace can carry us and help us, God honours people who choose to lives such lives, who are guided and molded by the word.

When we individually live life like this and then we corporately there is bound to be a move of God because the word of God has space in the place that man is. God inhabits and moves in a place where his word is honored and celebrated and the more we honour and celebrate the word of God, the more we see God breaking through in our lives all around.

Attaining or seeing a move of God or the power of God sweeping over all things in our sphere of influence starts with us the Worshippers. It's not someone else job or idea it actually start with us, we are the link to this and the power is then seen when we are corporate agreement to one thing.

In our pursuit to see people change, in our pursuit to see the altar of God and the move of God in and amongst the people we serve and lead, we have to come to a place where we know who God is personally and come to a place where we have a resolve that is unshakeable. As worshippers the best way to know the God is by us spending time with the word of God and seeing it become alive in our lives.

When we stay in the word we will come up to a place where we meet scriptures like these that say "So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it". Isaiah 55:11. This scriptures shows us that whenever God speaks his word it does not fall to the ground it accomplishes what they are sent to do. God doesn't change and his word once spoken it will complete its mission.

When we spend time in the word we also see this "If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broke", John 10:35 KJV. God's word cannot be broken whenever spoken, anywhere. God's word spoken by my mouth is as powerful as it's been spoken by God. Scripture cannot be tempered with or does it miss its target, His word always wins.

Instead of us spending most of our time preaching to the congregation why don't we learn to listen to the word of God. Instead of us spending trying to convince people who God is, may we learn to declare and speak scripture because remember God's word cannot be broken. When we speak into the atmosphere speak to God we create a seat for him, God responds to his word and he dwells where His word is spoken and declared.

God's word in my mouth as a worshipper is just as good as God's word in His mouth but when we don't have the word in our lives as worshippers, we then the spend time trying to explain and preach to the church. We need to declare who He is, declare his awesomeness and power.

May we learn to know the word of God and know when and how to declare it. If we are going to see a move of God in our time and generation then we need to know and use the word. It's not just declaring and seeking scripture it's about knowing Him and hearing from Him which scriptures to declare and see Him move mightily among his people

So many times we are so concerned and worried about how we sound and how we are being seen, the image of our lives, how PC (Politically Correct) we are. We are concerned about our image, how deep people think we are, what will people say after we leave the room or we lead worship on Sunday. We try our best to use the music, clothes, our voice to try and portray how deep and awesome we are in life.

When you look back at the end of the day what is important is that have we stood in our place and allowed or facilitated God to meet men and men to meet God. We want things to happen when we pray and when we lead worship, or when we do that solo or that special in church or at an outreach.

Impact starts with us, individually as Worshippers and one of the things that causes us to see things happen in our lives is when we allow the word of a God to purify and clean us. Just like in Psalms 12: 6-7 which says "The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever".

God's word is pure, purified to the seventh time and it's clean and where ever it rest upon it cleanses. Wherever it is accepted, cherished and honored you would see the word of God take shape and teach us uprightness and righteousness.

Even when we look at this in 2 Timothy 3: 16 which says, "All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness". We learn that the word reached us righteousness, the word teach us purity and cleanliness.

I once spoke an analogy that blew my mind away, if you have garden and you water your plants using a pipe or an irrigation system. Whenever the pipe on the inside is full of soap or mud the water will always comes out dirty. Even when you dish food in a germ infested and unwashed plate no matter what we do to that's food it's already become unclean.

So it with our lives, we are the hose pipe, the irrigation system or the plate the cleaner you are the cleaner the water that comes out, the dirtier you on the inside, the dirtier the water will come out as. As we desire to see explosion and a move of God in our worship times, lives, devotional lives and our leading then we should allow the word of God to cleanse us so that we can carry people to God or carry God to the people.

So many times we desire and do our best to chase after God and make sure that our worship is on point and that it grows and most times we rarely have place of information about how to do it. God has already set for us a manual which as worshippers we should be able to know and live by.

"Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you". Proverbs 1:23 KJV

God's heart is always and will always be for the advancement of people and one of the things that will bring advancement in someone life is just the concept of reading and applying the word.

Before we can even understand the concept of the word we need to have a personal relationship with the word and truth of God we need to learn to have a relationship with the spirit of God, he alone will cause us to know the truth of God written in his word.

Jesus said that the spirit will help us to understand and know the truths of God and will bring into remembrance of what we will have learnt. He shall show us how to apply this very word in our lives and He knows how to make the word go alive in us.

As worshipers truth, how can you worship a God you do not know and it's when we read the word of God and the Holy Spirit expounds the word to us that we become alive in Him. Our worship has a deeper meaning because we have a deeper meaning relationship with the Christ. Just like the scripture says Turn you at my word, see, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.

When we know his word we can direct people to his feet and to his truth. When we know his word and truth we worship from a place of strength and not a place of weakness. When we know his word we worship from the platform of who He is than what He can offer us. Let's have a real relationship with Him outside music and Sunday and He will pour his spirit upon us and his word will become alive in us

As you lead worship or facilitate worship, all that you know how much of it is based and built on the word of God. Have we taken time to learn from the word and from the Holy Spirit.

The Worshippers Battle

Preservation means you are being kept for a good future good use. When you preserve something you keep it in a safe place and your intention is to use it one day and you know that the present moment of time it's not the season or time.

The biggest battle that each worshipper faces is that whoever you are and how long you have been a worshipper and worship leader you will always find yourself locked with yourself and in a battle. It's easy to sing, dance or play because we can do that and for some people they have mastered it well but you can never be able to win the battle with self. Paul said that the things I desire to do, I do not do but that which I do not want I find myself doing it.

The battle on the inside is a big one and we might try to think we have won it but we at times fall, crush and burn. David came up to God and he said in Psalm 121:7 KJV "The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul". David learnt that the whole battle is on our hearts.

David cries out to The Lord, that God be his shelter but he also knew that there is a space and time that he occupies. I pray that God preserves us from ourselves and may He preserve us from ourselves, where we are for what He needs us for. May He preserve us from what is going on around us.

In all you do and in all your service to the Kingdom of God, pray that God preserves your heart. There is an onslaught on the heart and the mind of a Christian and as worshipper the battle is greater. The day you loose your heart to serve and worship, just know that you will become an entertainer and not a worshipper. Your greatest battle, is that we don't loose our hearts to worship Him.

Matt Redman once said I would rather my heart be without words than my words be without a heart. Our battle is that we don't loose our heart, our heart to serve and worship, let's pray that our heart is preserved by the Lord more than anything in our lives.

The Difference Between A Worship Leader and An Artist

Sometimes I hate to lead worship. Why? Because nobody cares.

Nobody. cares. And that’s actually a very good thing.
Nobody cares about the songs you wrote.
Nobody cares about your flawless musical arrangements.
Nobody cares about how you look.
Nobody cares how much you know.
Nobody cares how many mistakes you make.

What do people care about?
They care about connecting with Jesus.
They care about finding their purpose.
They care about the peace of God.
They care about knowing and believing the truth.
They care about their lives being a part of something bigger.

That’s the difference between an artist building a fanbase and a worship leader serving a community. It’s a different skill set. It’s a different goal.

An artist grows a fanbase. A worship leader grows worshipers.

An artist obsesses over their art. A worship leaders obsesses over the Kingdom.

An artist sings songs. A worship leader groans with desperation for Jesus.

An artist performs. A worship leader invites.

Art & Worship

Of course, there’s nothing wrong with being an artist. It’s actually a wonderful pursuit which I encourage every person to pursue. I want to be a better artist. If you’re reading this (which you are), discover the art you love – the art you’re best at and make it. The problem is stopping there rather than going deep with God.

The problem is when we use the local church to promote ourselves rather than promote a corporate expression of worship. Worship leader, you are not the hero. You are not the artist in residence. You are a servant, helping others see Jesus.

But art and worship can compliment each other. The deeper we go with God, the better art we make. And serving in the local church gives our art a place to serve others.

That’s actually why I love to lead worship. Because I can help to foster an atmosphere where I’m not the center. I can labor to show the glories of one so much greater than myself. Spotlight His perfections, His beauty, His goodness, His love.

My flesh can hate it because I’m not the center, but that’s a blessing in disguise because I’m taught to live for more than me. To expand His Kingdom. To be known not for my own greatness but for making His greatness known.

You’ll never become the worship leader you were meant to be until you lose yourself in the pursuit of Jesus.

Just Walk In And Out Of His Presence Like That!

Worship should be a reflex action in our lives. Our hands should automatically be extended in the air and songs should just come out of our hearts. We walk in and out of our houses but then we are walking in and walking out of the presence of God because our hearts and minds haven’t been prepared to worship

The spirit is always willing and wanting the things of God but at times worship may not happen because the mind and the heart isn’t in that right place. Just today we were talking about movies and acting and someone mentioned how Leonardo Di Caprio in one of his movies he was so focused that in the morning he just walked without a word out of his trailer and walked on the scene and shot the scene and walked back to his trailer and was seen the next day.

One of my friends said these actors get into the character by training their minds so that he can act a certain role. I had a fever a few weeks ago and it’s funny how sickness makes you aware that God is God, your mind get so consumed with getting well hence you fill you mind with scripture, prayer and you become so aware of God more than an ordinary day. Why? It’s because we will train our lives to focus more on God hence when you worship things happen

“Lord , thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear”: Psalm 10:17 KJV

This scripture in Psalms shows us that God can prepare our hearts but I believe that we have to make the first move. We have to take the first step in preparing our hearts, we have to start pushing our lives to fill our lives, minds and hearts with him. Throne Room Worship just doesn’t happen we have to work on ourselves and allow God to do more with us.

Our spirits were created fully open to God and open to the move of God but then our bodies like to chill and rest. We have to train our lives our minds and hearts to follow what God is doing. So if we are constantly thinking of God, Who He is, How we love Him that worship becomes a second nature.

Worship will not just happen, his presence isn’t for scavengers or marauders it’s looking for chances. His presence is for people who purpose it. People who make it their goals to chase after God and search his presence are those that will prepare their hearts, minds and bodies for his glory.

Let us not walk in and walk out his presence. Let’s be determined to worship.

How To Stay Humble While Playing An Amazingly Anointed Solo

As a teenager, I began to hear that my playing was anointed. At that age I’m not sure I knew what that meant, but I did believe I was using my gift for God’s glory. On one occasion, while warming up to play, someone told me they felt the anointing and was almost in tears. I responded that I was only practicing and that didn’t count. They simply replied by letting me know they couldn’t tell the difference.

It was then that I realized that anointing precedes playing (Jer. 1:5). Playing was simply a way I could release the anointing. Wether I was warming up or not, the anointing still seem to be evident. God’s anointing had superseded my understanding and touched lives without my approval. He had gone before me and I then understood who was in charge.

Your desire to play is directly connected to the prophetic anointing inside of you. Wanting to play a solo is not selfish. Playing for selfish reasons is selfish. The desire to play a solo comes from the call of God upon the investment of talent He has placed in you and you are responding to that call.
Being humble is simply a way of decreasing your importance in comparison to God’s importance. It’s a preference of wills. It doesn’t mean you play with less skill , it means your skill is used for God’s intended purposes. Even though your gift’s development requires your time and investment, the ability to learn and desire to play is an investment by God.

It is the musician, the user of the gift, who gives life to an instrument. The song and scores are waiting to come to life through a living being. David said “Awake my glory! Awake, lute, and harp! I will awaken the dawn” (Ps. 57:8). How much better when the one who brings the instrument to life is connected with the Giver of Life.

So Play. Play with all your heart and with wisdom. But when you play, remember these few things and let the anointing precede your playing.

Remember that you are the receiver of a gift. Your music is a gift from God – You are not God’s gift to music.

Remember you are the steward of the gift. Whatever and however you play, you are accountable.

Remember the purpose of your gift. Play with a purpose or there’s no purpose in playing. I play to help worshipers create an atmosphere for living in the reality of God’s presence

Remember the power of your gift. When you don’t understand the power of your gift you will not value and protect it. From deliverance to revelation, there is power in your gift (Ps. 32:7, 49:4.)

Remember the audience for your gift. Your gift will not cease once you enter eternity. Your primary audience is God. Your secondary audience is others.

Take time to enjoy your gift from God. The next time you practice listen to yourself play. You will be surprised how your own gift brings you more in tune with God.

Words or No Words, Lyrics or No Lyrics, I Can Worship God

Personally I love one thing that I have been noticing in the body of Christ that people are starting to understand that worship isn’t just singing songs or playing music but that Worship is beyond lyrics. We then have a crop of people in the same space who don’t know what to do if they don’t have music or words, yes they know that worship is beyond that but then what else can they do.

“For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's”. 1 Corinthians 6:20

John Wesley said this in response to this verse “Yield your bodies and all their members, as well as your souls and all their faculties, as instruments of righteousness to God. Devote and employ all ye have, and all ye are, entirely, unreservedly, and forever, to his glory.”

Our bodies are meant to glorify God, outside words, lyrics and music our lives can minister glory, our bodies can bless the Lord through the way we live daily and the way we carry ourselves in his place.

“Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God”. Romans 6:13

Our bodies are instruments of life and let us surrender our hands, feet and minds to his service, dedicate them to bless and glorify God. Let our bodies be a place to edify God’s kingdom and glory on earth. We were redeemed so that we can live for God and not be a slave to sin hence we can bless God in all we do. We cannot surrender our bodies to sin but surrender our bodies to bless the Lord.

Beyond words, lyrics and music our bodies can worship God, beyond singing the way you dress should bless God, the way you conduct yourself with your body does it give Glory to God. Beyond words, lyrics and music yielding our bodies to God is actually our worship to God. Our bodies are instruments of righteousness and worship to God.

What will be your excuse then? If you say I can’t sing, dance or play an instrument.

Lord Teach Us To Worship

One of the prayers that I have said over and over is, God teach me how to worship and teach me to live for you. One of the things that will become evident as you spend time and grow in the Lord is that you learn so many new things. As worshippers we should cry out and ask the Lord that he may teach us to worship but for many people it ends here because they have prayed.

“Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse yourhands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded”. James 4:8

The brother of Jesus, James explains to us that as we draw near to the Lord, He will reciprocate because it’s his nature. God is not an unjust God. God desires that we come and search for Him in the process He orders our lives. How many of us run away from those friends of ours who always want something from us and they never reciprocate our gestures?

If we run away from our friends then why do we treat God the same way? Teach me to worship and we do nothing, He will teach me so I don’t have to do anything about it. No we have a part to play as well.

God wants to bless each and every one of us, health and prosperity but we have to live by his conditions. The promises of God are plenty and they require us to walk and live in a certain manner of life. Apostle James shows us when we draw near to God and when we cry to be taught to worship we have to be ready to work. To

· Cleanse our hands - God can never do it for us we have to the ones that clean our lives. This is a personal thing that we have to set ourselves to do. God directs us do it which means He will not come down to do it for us. We have to leave certain things, people and lifestyles behind us, us and not God.

· Purify our hearts – this has to be done by us we have to set ourselves to rid of the filth that has filled our hearts and logged GOD out of hearts the only way to change this is through the intake of his word to replace or displace that which has filled our lives. It’s our job to purify to remove all filth and things that moved God out of our hearts.

Yes God loves us with every ounce of our lives but we have to take our hands to the plough and he will meet us halfway. God grants us audience with Him and if we set our hearts to know Him as well, its His promise to all mankind that if we search for Him he will be found.

So many times we get used to doing something that we become familiar with it and we don’t hold it in high esteem. So many times as worship leaders we are used to olanning the set, people looking to us for direction, planning this and that and we then forget or get familiar with it that we forget the who is in charge.

1. Me - Truth is as the worship leader I do so many things, I plan the set list or the Sunday list, I plan the practices, I sort out the songs and I also practice with the band separately and then I also then practice with worship team and I give them direction and a plan of execution. Even at times showing them what might happen and thing we might change. I actually lead the proceedings of worship in the church and in other service plus I train all the singers and musicians that stand on the altar.

2. The Pastor – the man that we always forget, he might have a heavenly voice or is the worst singer in the world but the pastor s the worship leader of the local church. Mind you that worship leading isn’t about voice or vocal ability, worship leading is about organizing the band, worship team the dancers and all the teams and the pastor has been doing that way way longer before I the worship leader came into being

3. God & His Spirit – All worship is directed and received by God and it key that we are led and directed by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit knows things of the spirit more than any man on earth plus “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things…” John 14:26. Since He knows all things and he knows the father more than anyone on earth shouldn’t he be the worship leader.

The question of today is who is the boss oh worship leader? Yourself, the pastor of your local church or the Holy Spirit

Answering this question yourself will make a whole lot of difference because who is the boss controls everything. Answering this question it will reveal where you are as a human and where you stand either you are a baby spiritually or mature.

The songs we sing today, do we take time to think through them and do we take time to understand what they mean and the impact they have on our lives and future. Every song has an effect on the singer and to the one it’s been sung to. Watch what you sing and to who.

To see if a song qualifies as a biblical and acceptable worship song to God let us look at 2 Chronicles 20:21 “And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the LORD, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the LORD; for his mercy endureth forever”.

As they worshipped God that very morning

1. Did their songs reflect worshipful hearts? And do the songs we sing today reflect our hearts or we just offer lip service just as the word states they speak but their hearts are far from me. Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks, the song rolling out of our mouth are they reflecting the conditions of our hearts

2. Did their songs accurately represent God? Some of the songs we sing today are just absurd, someone said just because you mention Jesus or the Holy Spirit that doesn’t make it a worship or gospel song. Do the songs you sing represent God?

3. Did their songs correctly represent what God has said in his Word? An example of a great song in my eyes is one that is scripture based. Songs like As a Deer, Rejoice, I Need Thee, On Solid Rock I Stand and other songs which are scripture based are powerful because they represent God fully and they recite God’s words in song.

There are certain songs I struggle to sing in my life like Tasha Cobbs “For Your Glory” when I sing it I think am I really ready to do anything for his glory. If God say today go to a b c place for his glory will I go.

As songwriters, worship leaders and worshippers of the body of Christ, the songs we sing today do we think through them, do we scan through and think through the words before we sing them. How many vows we have sung to the Lord and never fulfilled, how many things have we sang to God and walked away and did the exact opposite.

Not only must we correctly represent who God is, but any worship that flows from our lips and our lives must also properly represent what God says.

Why Worship When God Doesn't Answer

· When life falls apart are inclination is to blame God

When God doesn’t answer you the way you want what do you do in response?

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts”. Isaiah 55:9. It’s hard to swallow but that is the truth right there. God’s ways and will are just out of this world.

So why worship when God doesn’t answer? We continue to worship because God is sovereign and His ways and will is beyond us. As worshippers we submit our lives to God, we have to learn to trust God that he has the best plans and intentions for our lives.

He holds he whole world in the palm of his hands and he has lived beyond our time and age, He controls all that happens, a God with ears and he hears, a God with eyes and they see. God knows all and so when he doesn’t answer us we continue to worship Him and trust Him because he is God.

God is calling us to a specific place where we shall live and abide, where we shall get to enjoy his promises and blessings and commanded blessings. Dear friends, let's make a clean break with everything that defiles or distracts us, both within and without.

“Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God”. 2 Corinthians 7:1 KJV

May we choose to remove ourselves from the things that easily entangle us, "Let us cleanse ourselves" this cleansing or detox isn't meant for God. It's meant to be done by us. Take a look at your life. Think of the things that you need to separate yourself from and let’s live Holy for God.

Before we can grab ahold of these let's make our entire walk into a place of where we are clean and holy temples for the glory of God. Let us press delete to some of our relationships, ways of doing things, systems which aren’t godly, things we have adopted but aren’t godly, habits and lifestyle which isn’t worthy, you know what God has been showing and what He needs you to change. This is the season and time to make sure that you separate yourself from each of those things

You know yourself better, you know the things that you struggle the things that you always find as roadblocks and the sin that easily beset you God is calling us to a place where we are the one who have to cleanse and detox ourselves from the things that beset us, God is not going to do that for us. We have to take the steps to change that and make sure God is lifted up in all ways.

God is calling us to Holiness, to righteousness and to live our lives in a place where we just bless Him as God and King. “Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully”. Psalms 24:3-4

We stand on the altar of God Sunday in, Sunday out singing about God's faithfulness, grace, power and love but then do you believe in His faithfulness. We stand on the same place and more on Sunday, during midweek services and at practices talking and singing songs we have written or songs we like but do we believe the words we sing but most important do we believe the God we sing about.

Do we believe the power of God to show up in your space, time and touch his people or you believe that the Holy Spirit can show up make the church believe you are deep worshippers who brings down the presence of God rather than show and direct that Glory to him.

What do you believe in?

Do you believe? The ministry you were called into?

Do you believe in the words you sing unto God?

Do you believe in his power to deliver, heal and bless?

Do you believe in God himself?

Do you believe in God that he can do what he has planned?

If He did it for Israel, Won't He do it for you? If He did it for King David do you believe him that he can do it for you also?

Can we believe that He can lead us to his throne room, can we believe that he will teach us how to worship. Can we believe in the songs we sing, the band or choir which backs us up? Can we stand in the place we are and speak of his goodness and mean it from deep our hearts?

Can we stand in this space we, believe that our lives can changes and that our worship can break through times, space and age by reason of his Holy Spirit. Can we believe God that our worship won't be ordinary?

When we believe Him we are making a bold statement to God saying that I believe you can do it and so much more.

What moves God is worship. Look in the bible, looks at the stories written about the lives of the men of faith, their lives, their worship and sacrifices then God always responded to their worship. In today worship we now rate and measure God's response according to the number of goose bumps or chicken skin we feel when we are worshipping.

What moves God is praise because it’s his very nature

What shakes the foundation of throne room is when men worship Him earnestly.

We were created in the presence and likeness of God, every human being was created to worship because that is God’s very nature, Worship. Even Lucifer was created as a being of perfect worship hey say he oozed worship and that shows you that God is all about worship.

His likeness is worship; He has no choice but to respond to worship any day any time.

“The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing”. Zephaniah 3:17

1. The word singing here is the word "rinnah" which means

A creaking or shrill sound
A shout of joy or grief
A cry, gladness, joy, proclamation, rejoicing, shouting, singing or triumph

2. The word rejoice in this verse is "sussiys"which means to be bright, to be cheerful and to be glad greatly

3. The word joy in this verse is the word called "guwl" which meansto spin around under the influence of any violent emotion

Opened Eyes To The Spirit Realm.

Being a worship leader isn’t about the voice alone, the team, the band and the killer reefs and turnarounds we make. I personally believe that there is so much more to worship leading or just being worshipper than what meets the eye.

A key place of our lives is in worship whether you are a singer, pastor, church member or even an usher. Worship doesn’t just happen in the physical but a lot of our lives are lived in the spiritual and even when we worship a lot of things happen that we do not see hence we don’t get to appreciate the importance of worship.

“And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha”. 2 Kings 6:17 KJV

All Elisha did was to pray for his servant to see what He was seeing in the spiritual realm, I guess Gehazi was just all over the place worried sick of the impending danger like some worship leaders are like on Sunday morning or 10 minutes before a service but Elisha was so at peace it was because he saw things differently. There is a world beyond the physical as worshippers we need our spiritual eyes to be opened so that we see and understand.

As we worship there is so much activity that happens in the spiritual that we don’t see and it’s important as worshippers to be able to see, grasp and take people to the place the Lord is showing. I have met worship leaders with nonmusical voices but have hindsight of the spiritual world and things happen when they worship.

May we add to your playing, singing, songwriting, dancing, leading and your organization skill that ability to see what God is doing and wanting to do and be able to steer the people we are leading to his feet and the place where He is.

“And Jesus answered and said unto him, what wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight”. Mark 10:51 KJV

Jesus came to the blind men and asked him what he wanted and the blind men without hesitation said “that I may see” and God said receive your sight. If today Jesus was to meet you and ask you what you want, what will your answer be?

May you open my eyes Lord to see your glory all that's within me, bless your name.

The Real Presence Of God

You walk into any church and you will hear them singing about the presence of God or talking about the presence of God.

Lord we want to see you in your presence, Lord we want to know your presence, may we meet with in your presence this morning. If you are lucky you will hear statements like this "the presence of God is here so lift up your hands".

As a worshipper, church member or usher in

your church, whichever department you serve in, I want to ask you this question, do you know what the presence of God is all about? Do you have a revelation of what the presence of God is all about?

Today we are not talking about what the presence of God is and is not, we are not talking about the attributes of the presence of God either. The presence we speak about and write about do we understand it.

I see Ezekiel at River Chebar and God shows him vision of things to come all he could do was fall down until God spoke to him. When the real presence of God comes down we become speechless.

I see Isaiah in the year that King Uzziah died that he met Good and he speaks “woe for I'm a man of unclean lips and I dwell with all make of unclean lips”. When the real presence hits your life you see your sin as evident as daylight, exposed and so pronounced.

I see Daniel on his 21 day fast praying and seeking guidance about Israel's future in captivity and the Archangel Gabriel shows up and starts to speak to him and the bible says Daniel was fearful and fell on his face. When the real presence of God hits the place there will be a fear of God that adorns you and a response that will be required of you.

My question is what is our concept of the presence of God?

When you say the presence of the Lord is now here, do you know what you mean?

What we call the presence of God today is what?

Open My Mouth, Praise Overflow

Someone once wrote that or mouths are open sepulchers (tombs), that at times, is proven true by the way we live our lives. James 3:10 states that, "Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be"

I know they are those who were born and bred in the church and haven’t allowed foul things to flow and roll out of their lives but then when you look at the way God created things. Our mouths are instruments of worship just as much as our lives are lived for worship.

King David one certified sinner who

had a huge heart for God’s ways and truth, once cried out to the Lord in Psalms 51 which was written after he had realized his sin with Bathsheba and he just breaks down before God and he asks "O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise" Psalm 51:15 KJV

May the cry of hearts be nothing else but that our mouth may be vessel and instruments of worship, David asked that God open his lips to allow worship to flow, that worship may be declared and that worship be uttered at the opening of his mouth.

The same mouth we worship God and with the same mouth we curse mankind. Our mouths may they be places of blessings and worship. "And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord" Psalm 40:3 KJV

What are you asking from the Lord, Is your mouth on the blessing side or the cursing side?

Kind David asked of the Lord that his mouth be filled with new songs, new songs and new songs. His prayer was that His mouth constantly declares praise and worship to Him so that many who will see and hear him speak might be blessed by his life and worship.

May we ask of the Lord that our mouth to be opened with overflowing new songs but also that our lives actually overflow with worship and praise that man is lifted and comes to the fear of the Lord because of our lives.

May we take a moment to pray together,

Father in Heaven we thank you for who you are and what you mean to us, today we ask for forgiveness for the words that we have spoken. We pray that you cleanse us from sin and just like Isaiah may a coal from your altar and may it touch our mouths that new songs may flow forth and that our lives bring glory and honour to you always and all the time. We pray for worship to flow from our lives always in Jesus Name, Amen.
