Op dinsdag 30 juni wordt Arnon Grunberg geïnterviewd door Simon Dikker Hupkes in Debatpodium Arminius over zijn boek Mogen we nog een beetje leven?, een essay waarin Arnon op zoek gaat naar de wortels van het universalisme en uitkomt bij Jezus’ Bergrede. Wat is de waarde van het universalisme nu volgens sommige experts de internationale rechtsorde definitief failliet is?

Na dit interview zal Arnon in gesprek gaan met theoloog en schrijver Alain Verheij, die recentelijk De prijs van vergeving publiceerde. Hoe kijkt Verheij naar Arnons lezing van de Bergrede? En wie bepaalt of, door wie en wanneer er vergeven wordt?

On Tuesday, June 30, Arnon Grunberg will be interviewed by Simon Dikker Hupkes at Debatpodium Arminius about his book Mogen we nog een beetje leven? (May we still live a little?), an essay which explores the roots of universalism and arrives at Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount. What is the value of universalism now that, according to several experts, the international legal order has definitively collapsed?

Following this interview, Arnon will engage in a conversation with theologian and writer Alain Verheij, who recently published the book De prijs van vergeving (The price of forgiveness). How does Verheij regard Arnon’s interpretation of the Sermon on the Mount? And who determines whether forgiveness is granted, by whom, and when?

The evening is organized in collaboration with publishing house Atlas Contact and serves as the book launch for both Arnon’s essay Mogen we nog een beetje leven? and Verheij’s new book.
