New look...

Hace unas semanas os hablaba de un cambio de look para el blog, pues bien, aquí lo tenéis. Como también os anticipé, no es un cambio radical, sigo dándole vueltas a lo de pasarme a Wordpress, pero no me decido, demasiado trabajo y no sé si vale la pena ahora mismo.

De momento, me he limitado a cambiar la cabecera y la página "Sobre mí", esto último me parece lo más complicado, y supongo que sigue en proceso de cambio.

En cuanto a la cabecera, quería algo más simple, más limpio...

La pluma la saqué de Deviantart, y para alguien como yo, que paso tanto tiempo surcando los cielos como en tierra firme, bueno, es fácil identificarse con un ave...

Aunque esa no es más que una primera lectura. Para mí la pluma representa el amor por la escritura, el dejar volar la imaginación, y como no, una referencia a mis raíces charrúas (si no genéticas, sí de corazón).

¿Qué os parece el cambio de look? ¿Os gusta la nueva cabecera o preferís la anterior?

Few weeks ago I was telling you about a change of look for the blog, well, here it is. As I told you, nothing too radical, I'm still thinking about switching to Wordpress, but I don't know, too much work and I'm not sure if it worths right now.

For the moment, I've just changed the header and the "About" page, this last is the most difficult so I think it's still in progress.

About the header, I wanted something more simple, something neater...

I found the feather in Deviantart, and for someone like me who spend so much time flying as in solid ground, well, it's easy to relate to a bird...

That's only a first read though. For me the feather represents love for writing, letting imagination fly away, and of course, also a reference to my charrua's roots (if not genetically, at least in my heart).

New York City Bookstores

Bob Eckstein ha reunido en sus ilustraciones dos de mis grandes pasiones, las librerías y la ciudad de Nueva York… Descubrí el proyecto gracias al blog Honestly WTF y he ido siguiendo su trabajo en The New Yorker desde entonces.

No tengo la suerte de conocer todas las librerías retratadas, pero algunas se cuentan entre mis favoritas. Si a eso le sumamos las pequeñas historias y anécdotas que acompañan las ilustraciones, sólo me queda cerrar los ojos, imaginarme entre los pasillos de Strand Bookstore, por ejemplo, y rememorar el olor de los libros y el tacto de sus páginas…

Bob Eckstein has reunited in his illustrations two of my big passions, bookstores and New York City… I found about this project in Honestly WTF blog, and since then I’ve been following his work for The New Yorker.

I wish I could say I know all the portrayed bookstores, but at least some of them are amongst my favorites. If we add the short stories and anecdotes that come with the illustrations, I just need to close my eyes for a moment to imagine myself walking around the aisles of Strand Bookstore, for example, and recall the smell of books and the touch of its pages…

New year, new projects...

Últimamente me cuesta sentarme delante del ordenador a escribir y de ahí mi ausencia en el blog. Me resisto a abandonarlo pero no consigo recuperar el hábito de escribir a diario. Son demasiadas cosas las que ocupan mis horas libres y esta vez es el blog el que ha salido perdiendo en cuanto a dedicación.

Aun así, quería contaros que he estado trabajando en un nuevo diseño para el blog, algo sencillo, pero que me llevó a plantearme si debería dar el salto a Wordpress. Eso supondría una inversión considerable de tiempo y energía, y no estoy segura de si vale la pena tanto esfuerzo, así que he llegado a ese punto en el que me toca decidir si cierro el blog o si me pongo las pilas y lo vuelvo a arrancar a lo grande.

Conociéndome, seguramente elegiré algo intermedio ;) Nada drástico de momento… Pero quería avisaros por si en las próximas semanas me pongo con los cambios y notáis algo raro, serán los duendes haciendo de las suyas…

En cuanto a mi tiempo libre, por si alguien se lo preguntaba, lo he dedicado sobre todo a tejer (mucho), a leer (mucho), y a pasar tiempo con la gente que quiero (no el suficiente).

Además, el pasado diciembre colaboré con Teterum haciendo fotos de alguno de sus packs, lo que me obligó a volver a coger la cámara, que la tenía un poco abandonada últimamente. También el Gremi de Llibreters ha contactado con algunos blogueros de la isla para promocionar la lectura y las librerías, lo cual me entusiasma y es otro motivo para resistirme a dejar el blog, aun me quedan tantas cosas por hacer y aprender en este medio…

Os habéis sentido alguna vez así? Con la duda de si seguir o dejar algo que os gusta? Ya sea por falta de tiempo, motivación o las circunstancias que os envuelven…

I can hardly sit in front of the computer and write lately, hence my absence from the blog. I refuse to leave but I can’t get back the habit of writing every day. Too many things occupy my free time and this time the blog got the worst part in dedication.

Still, I wanted to tell you that I’ve been working on a new design for the blog, nothing too big, but this led me to wonder if I should switch over to Wordpress. That would be a big investment of time and energy, and I’m not sure if it’s worth so much effort, so I’ve reached that point when I have to decide whether to close the blog or if I get serious and start all over again.

Probably I’ll chose something in between ;) Nothing too radical for the moment… But I wanted to warn you in case I start with the changes and you notice something weird around here, that will be the elves working on it…

Regarding my free time, in case anyone is wondering about, I’ve been focused mainly in knitting (a lot), reading (a lot), and spending time with the people I love (not enough).

Also, last December I collaborated with Teterum, taking photos of some of their packs, that forced me to take the camera again after being neglected a bit lately. And a big new, The Bookseller Association has contacted some bloggers on the island to promote libraries and reading, a project that excites me and it’s one more reason to resist to leave the blog now, I feel that I still have so much more to do and learn in the blogosphere…

Apenas faltan unas horas para terminar 2014…

En el terreno personal, hemos perdido a personas muy queridas de mi familia, nunca será lo mismo sin ellos y siempre les echaremos de menos. Pero también ha sido un año de reencuentros maravillosos. Y a pesar de los momentos tristes, 2014 no ha estado tan mal.

Me ha traído cambios, nuevos proyectos, e ilusión por lo que nos depara el futuro.

Así que esta noche brindaré por los nuevos comienzos, porque nunca es tarde para aprender nuevas cosas y reinventarse.

Os deseo a todos un feliz 2015 lleno de amor, risas e ilusión!

On a personal level, we’ve lost much loved people in my family, it will never be the same without them and we’ll always miss them. But it has been also a year of wonderful reencounters. And despite the sad moments, 2014 has not been so bad after all.

It has brought changes, new projects, and excitement for what is yet to come.

So, tonight I’ll make a toast for new beginnings, because it’s never too late to learn new things, meet new people and reinvent yourself.

Si tenéis un periódico y washi tape por casa, ya tenéis lo básico para realizar la tercera propuesta… Lo que veo más difícil es que las sorpresas tengan todas la misma forma y tamaño. Pero el resultado me parece muy conseguido.

Una buena amiga ha acostumbrado a sus hijos, desde pequeños, a repasar al acostarse lo que han hecho durante el día. La idea es encontrar algo bonito que les haya pasado y comentarlo juntos.

Cuando me lo contó, me pareció precioso… No sólo aprenden a buscar algo positivo en la rutina diaria, sino que además es una forma de dar gracias a diario. Ojalá mantengan esa linda costumbre cuando crezcan.

Es fácil para mí enumerar todas las cosas por las que estoy agradecida, familia, amigos, salud, trabajo… Pero lo difícil es encontrar la belleza en los detalles, en las pequeñas cosas con las que nos topamos en el día a día y que a veces pasan desapercibidas, ya sea por las prisas, el malhumor o porque estamos demasiado inmersos en nuestra rutina como para dar un paso atrás y verlo con perspectiva.

Aprovechando el día de hoy, en el que tantas familias en América del Norte se reúnen para celebrar Acción de Gracias, os animo a hacer un pequeño esfuerzo y encontrar algo bonito que os haya ocurrido hoy…

A good friend has taught her children to review at bedtime what they have done during the day. The point is to find something nice that happened to them and talk about it together.

When she told me about it, I thought it was so beautiful… They’re getting used to find something positive in their daily routine and it’s also a way of giving thanks daily. I hope they keep this beautiful habit when they grow up.

It’s easy for me to list all the things for which I feel grateful, family, friends, good health, job… But I think it’s harder to find beauty in the details, the small things that we come across during our day and that go unnoticed too often, either because we’re on a hurry, because our bad mood, or because we’re just so immersed in our routine that we’re not able to step back and see things with perspective.

So today, when so many families in North America are gathering to celebrate Thanksgiving, I want to encourage you to make a little effort and find something nice that happened to you today…

Admito que en general los gif me ponen un poco nerviosa, quizá por eso me ha sorprendido el trabajo de la ilustradora Rebecca Mock afincada en Brooklyn.

Me producen el efecto contrario al habitual, ese movimiento acompasado me transmite cierta calma.

I admit that gifs get me a bit nervous, maybe that's why I've been surprised by the work made by Rebecca Mock, a Brooklyn based illustrator.

Her gifs get the opposite effect on me, those rhythmic movements make me feel calm.

El creativo argentino Martín Feijoó, afincado en Madrid, lo ha llevado más allá y ha dibujado sobre ellas.

Celebrating fall...

Pertenezco a una generación para la cual, Halloween, no era más que una fiesta que aparecía en las pelis americanas. Nosotros comíamos castañas, panellets y boniatos… y los disfraces eran para Carnaval.

Pero las cosas cambian, las costumbres se fusionan y para ser sincera, cualquier excusa es buena para decorar la mesa, descorchar una botella de vino y celebrar lo que haga falta.

Ahora, a punto de empezar noviembre, aun voy en manga corta… Pero el aroma a canela y las calabazas ya han invadido la casa.

I belong to a generation for whom Halloween was only some party in the american movies. We used to eat chestnuts, “panellets” and sweet potatoes… and costumes were for Carnival.

But things change, customs blend and to be honest, I embrace any excuse to decorate the table, open a bottle of wine and celebrate whatever it takes.

Now, just about starting November, I’m still wearing short sleeve… but the scent of cinnamon and the pumpkins already flood my home.

En plena moda Hipster, me topé con el trabajo de Tim Collins y fue todo un flechazo. Lo descubrí gracias al blog VosgesParis y al entrar en su web me terminó de enamorar. Hay ilustraciones que al mirarlas me parecen fotos, con las fotos de Collins me pasa justo al revés, algunas me parecen dibujos, supongo que por el uso que hace del color y cómo maneja el contraste.

Now than Hipsters seem being all around, I've found Tim Collins work thanks to Vosgesparis blog, and it was love at first sight. Then I visited his web and I couldn't get out, it was real love. Sometimes some illustrations remind me a photo, with Collins photos it happens just the other way around, some of his photos look like an illustration, maybe it's how he treats colors and the use he makes of contrast.

He elegido unas pocas fotos de su colección pero creo que vale la pena que visitéis su web, encontraréis imágenes muy interesantes, y algunas incluso divertidas. Me gustó mucho el aire vintage que rezuman sus fotos.

I've chosen few photos from his quick portfolio but his entire web worth a visit, you'll find very interesting pictures, some of them even funny. I like very much the vintage feeling that oozes from his photos.

Autumn...

Llegó el otoño a la isla.

Obvio, pensarán algunos... La novedad es que este año ha sido puntual con el calendario. Han llegado las primeras lluvias, las hojas ya jalonan las calles, y el aire ha refrescado (eso aquí significa que hemos pasado de 30°C a 22°C, así que aun no es momento de sacar las botas y la lana).

El verano ha pasado demasiado rápido y ahora parece que se resiste a marchar. Pero poco a poco el otoño se impone y el verano irremediablemente se aleja de puntillas.

Fall has arrived to the island.

Obviously, some might think... The news is that this year it's been on time with the calendar. First rains are here, autumn leaves are already spread all along the streets, and the air is cooler (which means we've gone from 30°C to 22°C, so it's too soon to wear boots and wool).

The Summer went by too fast and now it seems reluctant to leave. But the Autumn gradually imposes itself and the Summer is going away on tiptoes.

It's ok!

Han pasado varios meses desde la última vez que escribí en el blog. Los que me conocéis, sabéis de sobras los motivos, al resto, si queda alguien que siga el blog a pesar de mi escasa constancia del último año, siento que os debo una explicación.

Han habido cambios importantes en mi trabajo que irremediablemente han provocado algunos "ajustes" en mi vida personal. Aunque no ha sido decisión mía, y los cambios, cuando no son por elección propia pueden ser difíciles, he de decir que me siento muy feliz y agradecida porque siento que es un cambio para mejor.

Ahora tengo menos responsabilidades, y aunque algunos lo percibirán como un paso atrás, para mi es todo lo contrario, me siento como si la carga que he llevado encima los últimos años, de golpe, se ha aligerado. Soy un poco más libre. Y eso sienta de maravilla.

Han sido 10 años de aprendizaje constante, y no tengo más que palabras de agradecimiento para todos los compañeros con los que he compartido tantas horas, tantas risas, y claro que sí, alguna que otra lágrima.

En especial a mi amiga y compañera B.R., mi gran apoyo durante años, en los que nadar a contra corriente se convirtió en una costumbre y su mantra "no estamos locas" en el chaleco salvavidas que me permitía seguir nadando... Se qué ella lo entenderá. Y no, no estamos tan locas!

Empieza una nueva etapa laboral para mi, la emprendo con muchas ganas e ilusión. Y lo más importante, todo lo sucedido me acerca un paso más a la posibilidad de llevar a cabo mis planes personales, tantas veces postergados a causa de mis obligaciones profesionales.

Pero eso ya lo contaré en mis próximos posts, porque a pesar de mi ausencia en la blogosfera estos últimos meses, estoy decidida a seguir con el blog. La idea es tomármelo con calma y disfrutar del verano, para volver en septiembre con imagen renovada y nuevas ideas.

Mi plan inmediato? Disfrutar del que podría ser mi último verano en la isla... eso sí, en magnífica compañía!

Os deseo a todos un buen verano, bueno, al menos a los del hemisferio norte...

It has been a while since the last time I wrote. All those who know me, you know well the reasons. The rest, if there is anyone still there after the total lack of consistency this last year, I feel I owe you an explanation.

There have been big changes in my work and therefore some adjustments in my personal life. Although it wasn't my decision, and changes may be difficult when not chosen, I must say that I feel very happy and grateful because I know that it's a change for the better.

Now I have less responsibility, and although some people might think it's a step back in my job, for me it's just the opposite, I feel lighter without the burden I've been carrying the last years. I feel more free. And that feels great!

It has been 10 years of constant learning and I only have words of gratitude to all the colleagues with whom I've shared so many hours, so much laughters, and of course, some tears too.

Especially to my friend and workmate BR, a great support for me over the years. Swimming against the flow became a habit for us and her mantra "we're not crazy" was the lifejacket that allowed me to keep swimming... I'm sure she'll understand. And no, we're not that crazy!

It's a new chapter in my work and I'm feeling thrilled and excited for it. And the best of all, this gets me one step closer to accomplish my personal plans, so often neglected because of my professional obligations.

But that's another story, I'll tell you about it in my next posts, because despite my absence in the blogosphere lately, I've decided to go on with the blog. The plan is to take it easy and enjoy the summer to get back in september with new ideas and a new look.

My immediate plan? To enjoy what it could be my last summer on the island... in the best company!

Me encantan las citas inspiradoras así que cuando me topé con el trabajo de Ryan McArthur en Etsy me enamoré al instante de sus diseños.

I love inspirational quotes, so when I found Ryan McArthur work on Etsy I instantly fell in love with his designs.

Me gusta especialmente la simplicidad de sus diseños, y el limitado uso de colores los hace aun más elegantes. Empieza dibujando a mano con lápiz, luego con tinta y a continuación digitaliza el dibujo. Podéis ver el proceso en su blog.

I like the simplicity of his designs, and the limited use of colors make them look even more elegant. He starts drawing by hand with pen, then he add ink and finally he digitalizes the sketch. You can see all the process in his blog.

Hace un tiempo publiqué un post sobre el proyecto de una fotógrafa Hana Pesut, llamado Switcheroo, en el que algunas parejas intercambian su ropa. Esta vez quiero enseñaros el trabajo de Qozop en el que varios jóvenes intercambian ropa con sus mayores.

A while ago I posted about Hana Pesut's project, Switcheroo, where some couples switched their clothes. This time I want to show you Qozop's work, where young people swap outfit with their elders.

Mi madre siempre ha sido más moderna que yo vistiendo, así que en casa era normal prestarnos prendas entre nosotras...

Mi mother has been always more trendy than me, so at home it was usual to borrow clothes from each other...

El resultado me parece muy divertido y además deja patente la importancia de elegir bien nuestro look si queremos disimular nuestra edad.

Hoy se celebra el día del padre en España, mi padre solía criticar este tipo de celebraciones aludiendo que eran fiestas comerciales, pero a pesar de ello siempre esperaba un regalito. Y nunca le faltó...

Mi padre, ya os he hablado de él en el blog en alguna ocasión, era un tipo complicado.

No fue un padre perfecto, no era una persona perfecta. Y precisamente a él, le tocó una hija que desde muy pequeña parecía tener incorporada una lupa para ver defectos.

De niña me enfermaba ver los trazos que dejaban mis lápices al colorear... entonces él se sentaba a mi lado y a la vez que me enseñaba como difuminar esos trazos "imperfectos" con algodón, trataba de explicarme pacientemente que aun así el dibujo era bonito.

Mi padre nunca fue de los que siempre están a tu lado para ayudarte a levantar. Él más bien se lanzaba sin mirar al precipicio y te arrastraba con él... Por suerte mi madre siempre andaba cerca para ayudarnos a levantarnos y recoger los pedacitos tras la caída, a veces literal!

Pero gracias a su arrojo y sus desafíos constantes, yo que soy más bien de naturaleza precavida, prudente (él diría miedosa), me atreví a hacer cosas que de otro modo me hubiera perdido por pensármelo demasiado.

Cualquier tarea que emprendíamos juntos podía durar horas por mi neura perfeccionista, y donde yo creía hallar un defecto, él encontraba un motivo para hacer un chiste. Para él esos defectos eran la chispa, era lo que hacía única a esa pieza, ya fuera un mueble, un dibujo o alguna de mis fotos...

Actuaba igual con las personas, era implacable haciendo chistes y bromas sobre todos nosotros. Y se llevó más de una patada de mi madre en la espinilla por su especialidad en meter la pata... no a todo el mundo le hace tanta gracia como a él evidenciar en público los defectos.

Ahora sé que era su forma de celebrar la belleza de la imperfección.

Y hoy, recordando algunos de sus defectos y locuras, aun consigue arrancarme una sonrisa al pensar en ello, porque eso es lo que lo hacía único y especial.

No era un padre perfecto, pero era mi papá, un papá genial, y no hay día que pase que no le eche de menos con locura.

Así que aprovecho desde aquí a felicitar a todos esos papis de mi alrededor, a ese papá que sólo con entrar en la habitación consigue que a su hijo se le ilumine la cara de felicidad, ese papá que se va de viaje, llama por videoconferencia y cuyo bebote de año y medio se lanza a besar la tablet cuando le ve aparecer en pantalla...

No sois perfectos, pero qué más da! Sois geniales, disfrutad de vuestro día...

P.D. Por cierto papá, ya sé que tú eras más de los Rolling que de los Beatles, pero es la foto que he encontrado... nadie es perfecto.

Today we celebrate father's day in Spain, my father used to criticize this kind of celebrations, he thought it was just a commercial day, but he always expected a present that day. And he always got it...

My father, I've already talked about him in the blog, was a complicated guy.

He wasn't a perfect father, he wasn't a perfect person. And just him, he had a daughter who since very young seemed to have a magnifying glass to detect defects.

When I was a kid I hated the lines that my pencils left in my drawings while coloring... then he used to sit next to me and while he taught me how to blur those "imperfect" lines with cotton, he patiently tried to explain me that my drawing was still beautiful.

My father was never the kind who is always by your side in case you fall. He rather ran towards the cliff, dragging you with him... Luckily my mother was always around to help us to raise and get back together all the pieces after the fall, sometimes literally!

But thanks to his audacity and constant challenges, me, rather cautious and careful by nature (he would say scary), I dared to do things that otherwise I would miss for overthinking.

Any task that we started could last for hours because of my freaking perfectionism, and where I found a defect, he found a reason to make a joke. For him all of those defects were the spark, that was what made the piece unique, either some furniture, a drawing or one of my photos...

He was the same way with people, he was ruthless joking and teasing all of us. More than once he received a kick in the shin from my mom, he was unique messing things up and not everyone finds funny to be pointed in public because a defect.

Now I know it was his way of celebrating the beauty of imperfection.

And today, recalling some of his defects and crazy things, a smile comes to my face, because that's what made him unique and special.

He wasn't a perfect father, but he was my dad, a great dad, and I miss him every single day like crazy.

So I take this chance to congrat all those dads around me, that dad who only by appearing in the room gets a big smile in his son's face, that dad who makes a facetime call while he is away and whose little baby runs to kiss the tablet when he sees him appearing in the screen... Let me tell you something, you're not perfect, but who cares! You are great, so enjoy your day...

PS: And Dad, by the way, I know you were more into the Rolling Stones than into Beatles, but that's the photo I found... nobody's perfect.

Ya estoy de vuelta en casa, de vuelta a la rutina...

A pesar del mal tiempo, han sido unas vacaciones entrañables y como siempre, demasiado cortas!

La lluvia me hizo dejar la cámara réflex en casa y decantarme en su lugar por el smartphone así que hoy he querido enseñaros algunas fotos de Instagram que resumen bastante bien lo que han sido mis vacaciones en Uruguay.

Despite the bad weather, we had a lovely holiday, and as usual, too short!

Los últimos meses han sido una locura debido a mis viajes de trabajo, eso ha hecho que dejara un poco de lado el blog pero tengo toda la intención de volver a ponerme las pilas y dedicarle un poco más de tiempo, así que en breve espero poder volver al ritmo de publicación del año pasado.

Ha pasado bastante tiempo desde la última vez que publiqué en el blog, la explicación es bien sencilla, una vez más me tocó viajar por trabajo, de nuevo visité Chile, aunque la mayor parte del tiempo estuve volando entre Santiago y el Caribe.

La conexión a internet no era demasiado buena así que aproveché para desconectar un poco de la blogosfera. Lo que me dio más tiempo para leer libros y terminar algunos tejidos que tenía a medias, si tenéis curiosidad he colgado algunas fotos en el Facebook de Around Minetta.

It's been a while since the last time I posted, the reason is quite simple, I had to travel once again because of my work, this time to Chile but the most part of the time I was flying between Santiago and the Caribbean.

The internet connection wasn't so good so I took the chance to unplugged a little from the blogosphere. This gave me more time for reading books and finishing some crochet projects, if you're curious about it, you can see some photos in Around Minetta's Facebook.

La buena noticia es que después de todo el ajetreo de los últimos seis meses, por fin tengo vacaciones!

Y como no, he vuelto a cambiar de continente, esta vez para pasar unas semanas con mi familia de Uruguay. Desde que llegué apenas ha parado de llover, pero eso no ha impedido que nos reunamos todos, como siempre hacemos, a conversar y comer, y vuelta a comer y conversar ;) Si algo caracteriza las reuniones familiares es que nunca falta comida... Son como unas Navidades en febrero. Además en casa la lluvia no es más que una excusa para hacer torta fritas.

Así que aquí estamos, tomando mate y comiendo UN MONTÓN, y por supuesto, poniéndonos al día... Con todos los chismes.

The good new is that after six hectic months, I'm finally on vacation!

And of course I switched continent again, this time to spend a couple of weeks with my family in Uruguay. It's been raining since I arrived, but that didn't keep us from gathering, as we use to do, to chat and eat, and then eat again and more chatting ;) if there's something that characterize my family reunions is food... It's like Christmas in February. Plus the rain is just one more excuse to make "torta fritas".

So here we are drinking mate and eating A LOT, and of course catching up... with gossips.

P.D. Por primera vez publico una entrada desde la tablet y la edición ha sido una especie de pesadilla! Blogger no lo pone fácil y Blogsy ha acabado siendo un poco decepcionante. Los que publicáis habitualmente desde tablets, alguna sugerencia?

Gattobravo revisited

Cómo habéis empezado el año? Yo de lo más inspirada!

Hace unos meses ya publiqué un post sobre las ilustraciones de Gattobravo, todas ellas relacionadas con el arte de comer. Hoy he querido compartir otra de sus facetas, la moda.

Para una dibujante frustrada como yo, al ver este tipo de dibujo, me entran ganas de coger un lápiz y ponerme a dibujar, pero al final el resultado siempre es el mismo, una serie de garabatos sin sentido. El caso es que ilustradores como Gattobravo hacen que parezca fácil, con apenas unos trazos consiguen una pequeña obra de arte.

How did you start the year? For me it started pretty inspiring!

Few months ago I posted about Gattobravo illustrations, all related to food. Today I want to share more about Gattobravo artwork, this time related to fashion.

For a frustrated illustrator like me, watching this kind of work makes me want to take a pencil and start drawing, the final result is always the same though, just a bunch of meaningless doodles. The fact is that illustrators like Gattobravo make it look easy, with just few lines they make a little piece of art.

Entre sus clientes están Vogue, Glamour y Vanity Fair. Me gusta ver cómo varía el estilo según el diseñador elegido, cómo pasa de líneas finas y formas redondeadas a trazos más gruesos dónde predomina el negro...

You can find among Gattobravo's clients the fashion mags Vogue, Glamour and Vanity Fair. I like how different it's the style according to the chosen fashion designer, how the illustration goes from thin lines and round shapes to thicker strokes where black predominates...

Back home for Christmas...

Tras pasar unas semanas en Chile por trabajo, he vuelto a tiempo de pasar la Navidad en casa...

Tengo amigos que darían lo que fuera por pasar estos días lejos, tirados en una playa bajo el sol, esquiando, donde sea con tal de pasar la Navidad lejos de las comilonas familiares y de la locura por las compras que nos invade en estas fechas.

Sin embargo, yo estoy muy agradecida de poderlo pasar en casa con una de mis personas favoritas en el mundo, mi madre, quien por cierto se pasará estos días metida en la cocina. Puede que lo sienta así por haber crecido lejos de la mayor parte de mi familia, o porque por mi trabajo sé lo que es pasar la Navidad en algún hotel de otro continente sola con tus compañeros o incluso en un avión.

En cualquier caso cuando te has visto forzada, por el motivo que sea, a pasar estas fiestas lejos de la familia, aprecias mucho más el estar rodeada de las personas a las que quieres.

Y además este año también pasaré unos días con mi gente de Barcelona... la guinda del pastel!

Así que esta vez mi brindis navideño irá por todos aquellos que les toca pasar las Navidades lejos de casa, por suerte tenemos las nuevas tecnologías que por un ratito nos hacen sentir a todos más cerca.

After working a few weeks in Chile, I'm back on time to spend Christmas at home...

I have friends who wish to spend Christmas holidays away, lying on the beach under the sun, skiing, no matter where, they just want to be far from big family diners and the shopaholic madness of this time of the year.

However, I'm very grateful for being able to spend this holidays at home, with one of my favorite people in the world, my mother, who by the way will spend all the day in the kitchen. Maybe I feel this way cause I grew up far from the most part of my family, or because due to my job, I know what it's spending Christmas in a hotel, in another continent, all alone with your crew, sometimes even on the plane.

Anyway, when you've been forced to spend Christmas away from your family, for any reason, you appreciate so much having around the people you love.

And this year I'll be able to spend a few days with my people in Barcelona... the icing on the cake!

So this time, my Christmas toast to all those who have to spend Christmas away from home, so good that we have new technologies that allow us to feel closer for a while.

Llevo ya varios días en Santiago y aun sigo impactada por la fabulosa vista de la Cordillera de los Andes durante la aproximación al aeropuerto, es una de esas imágenes que quedan grabadas en la retina por siempre. Poder apreciarla desde el aire te deja sin palabras, aunque por momentos parece que la pudieras tocar con la punta de los dedos, su inmensidad está siempre presente y te hace sentir bien chiquita.

La ciudad está rodeada de montañas y colinas así que esa sensación permanece durante mi estancia en la ciudad.

Nos hospedamos en un barrio muy moderno, plagado de rascacielos, incluso lo llaman Sanhattan por aquí. Y la impresión que ofrece nada más llegar es que es una ciudad muy luminosa, con mucho verde y lugares muy bonitos para pasear, ya sea caminando o en bicicleta.

I arrived to Santiago few days ago and I'm still shocked by the amazing view of the Andes during the approach to the airport, it's one of those pictures that stay forever in your eyes. The chance of seeing it from the air leaves me speechless, for a few seconds you feel like you can touch it with your finger tips, but its immensity is always there making you feel so little.

The city of Santiago is surrounded by mountains and hills, so that feeling stays with me so far.

We're staying in a very modern area, there are plenty of skyscrapers, they even call it Sanhattan around here. The moment you arrive you can appreciate that it's a bright city, with a lot of green areas and nice places for walking or biking.

Mientras trato de hacerme a la idea de que ya llegó el invierno a la isla, sigo pensando qué meter en la maleta para mi viaje. Sí, habéis leído bien, me vuelvo a ir de viaje.

El proyecto de trabajo es muy parecido al que me llevó a Indonesia, pero esta vez nos vamos a Chile. En unas horas estaré de camino a Santiago, una vez más estaré casi un mes lejos de casa, pero por suerte volveré a tiempo para pasar aquí la Navidad.

Es la primera vez que viajo a Chile y hasta ahora todo lo que sé del país lo he conocido a través de los libros de Isabel Allende. Me temo que su universo mágico dista mucho de la realidad actual pero aun así tengo ganas de visitar el país que tanto ha influido en sus obras.

Tendré los fines de semana libres así que espero tener la oportunidad de hacer un poco de turismo. Alguna recomendación? Algo que no deba perderme?

While I still trying to get used to the idea that winter has arrived to the island, I'm trying to decide what to pack for my trip. Yes you read right, I'm leaving again.

The project is very similar to the one in Indonesia, but this time we're going to Chile. In a few hours I'll be on my way to Santiago. Once again I'll be far from home for nearly a month, but thankfully I'll be back in time to spend Christmas here.

It's my first time in Chile and all I know about the country so far is through Isabel Allende's books. I'm afraid her magical universe is far from the current reality but still looking forward to visit some of the places which had such a big influence in her work.

I'll be free on weekends so I hope to have the chance to make a little tourism. Any recommendations? Anything that I shouldn't miss?

Se acabó el otoño, al menos en la isla, y a mí me ha pillado desprevenida. La semana pasada aun paseábamos en manga corta y sandalias y ésta he tenido que rebuscar en el armario para sacar mis bufandas, guantes y botas. Las temperaturas bajaron más de 10 grados de un día para el otro y hace una semana que la lluvia no para más que para dejar paso al viento.

Algunos me diréis, desprevenida? Mira el calendario! Pues sí, no debería sorprenderme, pero entre viaje y viaje el tiempo se me ha pasado volando y tengo la sensación de que en apenas unos días he pasado de estar en la playa tomando el sol a acurrucarme frente a la estufa pensado en cómo decoraré la casa en Navidad.

A veces recuerdo cuando era niña lo largo que podía llegar a ser un año, me parecía una eternidad. Sin embargo, desde hace un tiempo es como si las hojas del calendario se cayeran a una velocidad de vértigo.

Sabéis a qué me refiero? Alguien más lo siente así?

Autumn is over, at least on the island, and I was caught by surprise. Last week we were walking around still in short sleeves and sandals and suddenly I was rummaging through my closet to get scarves, gloves and boots. The temperature dropped like 10 degrees celsius in one day and we're having rainy and windy days for a week now.

Some of you might be thinking caught by surprise? Come on, look at the calendar! Right, I shouldn't be that surprised, but with so many work trips time has flown and I feel like in a few days I went from lying on the beach under the sun to curl up in front of the heater and thinking about Christmas decoration.

When I think about my childhood I often remember how long was a year, I mean, it felt like an eternity back then. However, since a while ago, the calendar leaves are turning soo fast.

Do you know what I mean? Do you feel the same way?
