Arsenal to make another bid for suarez?

If reports are to be believed after having their 30 million bid rejected Arsenal are going to return with a bid of 36 million for Liverpool striker Luis Suarez.I am surprised at the mixed
reactions Suarez bid is getting from Arsenal fans,most of them do not want Suarex at Arsenal with the reason being his controversial attitude,I agree that Suarez sometimes tends to be silly which gets him in trouble with the English FA and media but on the pitch his determination and desire to win is second to none,he is always a handful for opponents and his strength on the ball has always surprised me.
Suarez uses his dribbling skills combined with his ability to retain the ball under pressure using his upper body strength to give defenders a headache and draw fouls from them,he has tremendous technical skill and contributes to a high number of assists for a striker.He can play as a lone striker or as a supporting striker.As I said in another post a few days ago that every top club needs a world class striker and there is no doubt in my mind that Suarez is world class and he is the striker Arsenal need to achieve glory I know he has done some ridiculous things but I don't care if he bites his way to a trophy as long as he leads us there.

Dan Crowley impressive in his debut for Arsenal U21

Arsenal signed 15 year old highly rated english midfielder Dan Crowley from Aston Villa,Crowley made his debut yesterday for Arsenal U21 in a friendly against Sutton United and impressed everyone by getting two assists his performance is even more impressive if he we consider the fact that he is a 15 year old playing against men twice his age.
This what Arsenal.com had to say about his performance:
"The performance of Dan Crowley, making his debut after signing from Aston Villa, was a particular highlight.The 15-year-old was composed in possession, clever on the ball and always seemed to find a yard of space."
I have not seen much of him but he seems like a combination of Arshavin and Fabregas to me,both of his assists were converted by Jack Jebb another very highly rated Arsenal midfielder one of which inlcuded a delightful free kick,Crowley was subbed after 45 min.Another youngster who made his Arsenal debut yesterday is Swedish winger/striker Jamaal Raage.

Disgruntled but hopeful

Every year its the same story for Arsenal fans all over the world when the summer transfer window opens the fans are filled with hope and optimism but as the days pass by we become disgruntled,with the pre season tour about to start and not a single first team signing I don't think any fan can remain positive,the transfer of
Higuain also seems unlikely with Real asking for more money than the amount that was agreed in 'principle',before the transfer window opened nearly all of us thought that Arsenal will make some major moves and although we are 'close' to signing Higuain,have made a bid for Suarez and Bender,enquired about Fellaini but we have nothing to show for it,sometimes I get a feeling that we want to fail in these half-hearted attempts or our chief negotiator is just not capable of closing big deals in the past we have missed out on a number of good players due to our inability to close deals.
In the past atleast our UCL spot was not in danger but for the past two seasons it is under threat from spurs,I have no doubt that Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke does not even care if we lose the Champions League spot to spurs who will be an even bigger threat than the last two seasons with Bale seemingly staying and unlike us they will strengthen their team,I never expected outrageous amount of money being thrown at transfers from Arsenal as I know that we have to be realistic in our spending but one thing I know for sure every top team needs a world class striker and if we do not buy a very good striker we will be left behind by other top teams.I have no doubt that Wenger knows his top priority should be a striker but I am afraid that due to our inability to close deals there will be no good players left in the transfer market,but in the end I still think we will make some major moves this window.
Am I being naive to think that this will be the transfer window that Arsenal fans have been waiting for only time will tell until than keep your chins up.

This is more of an update rather than a post,there have been some rumors making rounds on twitter that Fabregas is going to have a medical at Arsenal on Friday.I don't think I have to tell Arsenal fans anything about him every Arsenal fan knows the kind of player he is and how he can win games on his own for

Arsenal,another thing that is really exciting for me is how Walcott and Higuain if we manage to sign him will benefit from Fabregas's arrival,before he left for Barcelona his defense splitting long balls really used to help Theo run into spaces and terrorise defenders with his pace and now that Waclott has improved his game so much I have no doubt that if Fabregas does arrive it will result in an increase in Walcott's goals,also in one of my previous posts I wrote how Higuain will benefit if he gets service from a good midfielder,Higauin will really enjoy the consistent through balls from him,with Santi and Cesc playing in our mid Higuain and Theo will score goals for fun,it will also help Wenger revert back to his preferred one touch passing style which has been missing for the past two seasons as this style of play was originally built by Wenger around Fabregas.Lets keep our fingers crossed and wait for Friday if this rumor turns out to be true than Friday will be one of the best days Arsenal fans have ever had.I was also told a few days ago that Mertesacker is going to change his shirt number,his current number is 4 which was Fabregas's shirt number when he was at Arsenal is this just a coincidence or is there a link I think only time will tell.

According to The Mirror Arsenal have failed in a €23million (£19.7million) bid for Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Lars Bender, according to reports in Germany.
The 24-year-old Germany international is contracted to the Bundesliga side until 2017, and having sold
right-back Dani Carvajal to Real Madrid and Andre Schurrle to Chelsea this summer they are reluctant to lose any more first-teamers.Bender signed from 1860 Munich in 2009 and has amasssed nearly 150 appearances at the BayArena.

Higuain as lone st?(Part 2)

If reports are to believed Higuain to Arsenal is very close,what would this tansfer mean for Arsenal?Does Wenger need to change the way his team plays to get the best out of Higuain?Is there a reason Mourinho preferred Benzema ahead of Higuain when he wanted to play the passing game?Although Higuain is a very
good striker but linking up play is not his strength,some of the attributes needed to be a striker in a 4-5-1 formation is coming deep to receive the ball,holding the ball up for teammates and bringing them into play.

Wenger's preferred striker for the 2012-2013 season was Giroud and although Podolski and Walcott are much better finishers than him he got the nod ahead of those two because he has the basic attributes of a lone striker.In my opinion if Arsenal manage to sign Higuain they should change their style a bit with a midfielder playing just behind him,the player that I think should be playing in the hole is Santi Cazorla,if Santi and Higuain are played together similar to Bergkamp and Wright it would get the best out of Higuain and Arsenal would really benefit from it.
What do you think should wenger change his tactics for Higuain or let Higuain adapt to Wenger's preferred formation?

The role of a lone striker?(Part 1)

In a lone striker formation recieving support from midfield and wingers is very important if the striker does not recieve support from his team he will become isolated and would not be able to do much even if he is the best in the world,the lone st is becoming very important in modern football as every manager is reverting to a
4-5-1/4-3-2-1/4-3-3 formation depending on the variations from the manager,in addition to scoring goals the striker has to be good at holding the ball up,bringing his teammates into play,coming deep regularly doing layoffs and flick ons,he should have a high workrate continuously making runs to force opposition defenders out of position.
A few years ago if a striker can score goals he would be considered as good but nowadays managers are asking more from their strikers,if we take the example of Aston Villa's manager Paul Lambert who dropped Darren Bent arguably one of the best finishers in the league for a young inexperienced striker Christian Benteke,no one knew Benteke at the start of the season and even though Lambert got a lot of stick form fans and pundits but he stuck with Benteke even though Villa were in danger of being relegated,the reason he dropped Bent is that even though Bent can score goals but he doesn't contribute to the team play and has a low workrate.
The reason I am discussing the lone striker role is because of Arsenal closing in on Higuain deal and how he will adapt which i will discuss in part 2.

Have Arsenal made a bid close to 7 million for Tin Jedvaj?

TIn Jedvaj is a Cb who plays for Dinamo Zagreb in the Prva HNL(Croatian first division).He is rated as one of the best young centreback in the world and is being called as next big thing for Croatia since Luka Modric.He is 17 year old,6ft 2inch and has already been called up to the senior Croatiian national team.It is being reported that Roma had submitted a bid of 5 million which was rejected.

Pros:
Jedvaj is a ball playing defender,he is very comfortable with the ball at his feet and likes to build play from the back,his long range passing is also pretty good and is not afraid to put his body on the line to make a clearance or interception,has decent pace and strength and his physical attributes should develop more with age.Jedvaj isn't afraid to make a crunching tackle,his style of play reminds me of Vermaelen when he joined Arsenal,with his level of comfort on the ball and tendency to get forward he could become a versatile player for Arsenal and I wouldn't be surprised if Wenger converts him into a fullback or defensive midfielder.
Cons:
He will take time to adjust to the Premier League and his lack of experience at the top might be a problem in his first season but that shouldn't be a problem for Arsenal as he will not be a first team regular.He also likes to join the attack and goes forward whenever he gets the chance,he will have to learn to time his forward runs as it might leave us exposed at the back.
Probability of transfer:6/10
Arsenal have submitted a bid and are eager to sign him up but whether it can materialise into a deal is a thing of the future

What should be Arsenal's tactics for the coming season

I have divided Arsenal's season into three parts according to the tactics used and thier consequences.
Part 1
At the start of the previous season Arsenal gave more priority to their defensive responsibilities which resulted in Arsenal conceding only 6 goals in 9 league games,assistant manager Steve Bould got a lot of praise for this defensive stability but this came at the cost of sacrificing the attacking play with Wenger's side
scoring 14 goals in 9 games,6 of those goals came in a single match against Southampton,but Wenger could not resist the temptation of playing attractive attacking football he prefers which resulted in Arsenal abandoning their newfound defense first approach.During this period period Arteta's partner in mid was Diaby who stayed closer to Arteta which made us more compact in the middle and provided support to arteta whose lack of pace could leave us open to counter attacks.

Part 2
The next 19 games saw us score 39 goals and concede 26 and its not a coincidence that this is the period when Wilshere was our Cm,he is a great player and future Arsenal legend in the making but his lack of defensive responsibility left our defense exposed especially on counter attacks,if you see his positional graph in all the matches he is closer to Cazorla when he should have been covering Arteta..

Part 3
In the last 10 games Arsenal scored 19 and conceded only 5,as history shows us that when Arsenal are in danger of losing Champions League spot Wenger reverts to a more compact and defensively stable tactic he did the same in the 2008-2009 season,for the majority of these 10 games Ramsey was our Cm and all of us know how wonderfully he supported Arteta,our midfield was compact and narrow which made it nearly impossible for teams to create chances through the middle.

What should our style of play be for the new season,defensively compact and narrow or going all out in attack which leaves us vulnerable at the back?

What should we expect from Sanogo the coming sesaon?

Arsenal have agreed a deal to bring Yaya Sanogo from Auxerre on a free transfer although it has not been made official because there are still a few days left on his contract.He has been prolific for France at the youth stage scoring 30 goals in 47 games.He played 13 games for Auxerre in Ligue 2 scoring 10 goals and 1
assists,most of his goals for Auxerre last season came during a crazy goal scoring streak in which he scored 7 goals in 2 matches.As a youngster he has also played for CO Les Ulis the club where Arsenal legend Thierry Henry began his career.The manager of Auxerre has said about him:
"It’s not a coincidence, everything happens for him now. This guy, he understands everything. He has a perfect approach of football. He listens, he works, he is humble, he has his feet on the ground and head on his shoulders. It is a pleasure for the coach."He has also said that Wenger is unlikely to loan him back as he considers him part of the first team.
He is tall and strong but also quite pacy for a guy who is 6'3,he has good first touch and technical ability which he attributes to the five a side matches,he is good at holding the ball up and bringing others into play not only is he an aerial threat but is also good with the ball at his feet his pace and strength combination allows him to get past opponents.Sanogo also has a tendency to score from overhead kicks which will make him a fan favorite at Arsenal if he can score some of those.The only problem is that he is prone to injuries which have kept him out of the side for long periods,he is inexperienced but i don't think that should be a problem as he will not be a first team regular for the coming season.In your opinion should Sanogo be given a chance in cup matches or sent on a loan?

Is Wenger planning to transfer Ruben Garcia to Arsenal?

According to some reports Arsene Wenger wants to sign Levante's 19yr old Ruben Garcia and has also made an enquiry after the Leavnte winger impressed Arsenal chief scout Steve Rowley,it is also reported that
Garcia has a €10 million buyout clause which Arsenal could easily activate if Wenger really wants to sign him.
Although Garcia's preferred position is on the left wing he can also play centrally if needed,he has solid technique along with quick feet which helps him avoid pressure from opponents and likes to play a lot of through balls.Garcia also has very high defensive contribution regularly tracking back to help out his teammates.Most Arsenal fans would not want Wenger to sign another youngster but i am very confident that he will become a very good player under our manager's guidance.Garcia has also recently declared his admiration for Arsenal and fits the profile of a typical Wenger signing

STRIKER
GONZALO HIGUAIN

Arsenal are very close to signing Higuain according to what i have heard,Higuain has been a prolific goalscorer for his club and country with 106 goals in 188 league games and 20 goals in 32 games for Argentina.

Pros:
He knows how to put the ball in the net and that's exactly what Arsenal need right now a striker that can regularly score for Arsenal even when they are not at the top of their game.He can take players on,dribble past them and has decent pace and strength .Higuain knows how to handle pressure playing for a big club like Madrid and has loads of experience for someone who is relatively young.He has a very high conversion rate in la liga only behind Messi and better than Etoo,David Villa,Ronaldo and Falcao.
Cons:
He does not like to contribute to the build up play but is trying to improve this aspect of his game.He will not pose an aerial threat and he gets caught offside a lot.Wenger might need to change his style a bit for Higuain because in my opinion Higuain would really excel with a really good creative midfielder playing just behind him kind of like the old days of Bergkamp and Wright.
Probability of transfer:8.5/10

WAYNE ROONEY

Opinions seem to be divided between Arsenal fans on Rooney,some would love to have him while others don't want him at our club because of his connections with Man Utd,I have hated Rooney ever since he has been a United player but i think that hate can change to love if he joins Arsenal and starts banging in some goals.
Pros:
Although i have always hated Rooney i have never doubted his ability as a player.He has loads of experience at the top level,he would not need time to adjust and will fit right into our system.Rooney has a very high workrate,is very good at holding on to the ball, likes to drop deep regularly contributing to the build up play which is exactly the kind of striker Wenger prefers.The thing that i always liked about Rooney is that he always hassles opponents with his pressing,his determination is second to none.
Cons:
Rooney's off the field attitude can sometimes be disappointing which can affect team spirit.If he joins Arsenal he will be earning way more than other Arsenal players which can have a negative impact on other players.This is just a theory that i have that if Wenger or Ferguson let a key player leave without putting up a fight it means that player's good days are behind him.Ferguson continuously had a problem last season with Rooney's fitness and was not really worried about him leaving.

DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDER
MAROUANE FELLAINI

According to some reports i have got,i am 99% sure that Arsenal have made an enquiry about Fellaini and have made contact with his agent.Apparently our chief scout Steve Rowley is a big fan of Fellaini and has urged wenger to sign him
.
Pros:
The most important and much needed attribute in midfield for Arsenal is physicality and thats exactly what Fellaini brings,but he is not just a brute who scares people he can build play from the back,hold the ball under pressure using his strength and make runs from deep.He is versatile,can also play as Cm or Cam if needed,teams who play long ball to gain territory against Arsenal will struggle with Fellaini as Dm.He will also be very important for Arsenal at defending and attacking set pieces.
Cons:
The only thing that i can think of against Fellaini is his tendency to commit fouls,make rash challenges and get sent off.
Probability of transfer:6/10

ASIER ILLARRAMENDI

Arsenal have been linked with a lot of defensive midfielders for the coming season the latest in a long line to be linked with Arsenal is Real Sociedad's Illarramendi.
Pros:
To be honest i didn't know a lot about him until we were linked with him so i watched some Real Sociedad's games and this guy looks like a typical Spanish midfielder.He is comfortable with the ball at his feet,likes to keep the ball moving,has pretty solid positioning and anticipation,he can also play long balls from deep and commits a lot of tackles and is good at intercepting the ball.
Cons:
Doesnt have any glaring weakness,doesn't have a lot of experience and might take time adjusting to Epl.

ASHLEY WILLIAMS

The Cb that Arsenal have been linked with the most is Ashley Williams the captain of Swansea,if reports in May were to be believed Arsenal were close to signing Williams but now the links have cooled down.

Stats:
He has an average of 51.8 passes per game this season in Epl little more than Mertesacker(50.1) but way ahead of Vermaelen(40.2) and Koscielny(30.6).He is also leading in the number of clearances per game(10.3) atleast 5 more clearances per game than all of our 3 Cbs but he is behind in offsides won 0.6 per game compared to Koscielny's 1.2 and Mertesacker's 1.1.
Pros:
There is no doubt that Williams is a leader,he can hold the ball under pressure,build from the back.He is strong and also has lots of pace for a Cb,his pace and strenght combo means he can pair with both Mertesacker and Koscielny
Cons:
He is behind our first choice Cbs in offsides won which is one of the most important stat for an Arsenal Cb because playing a high defensive line is an important part of our game Williams does not have any champions league experience and has never played for a top english club.

The players arsenal need to buy:Part 1(GK)

In my last post i asked arsenal fans who they would like to see in an Arsenal shirt,in this post i will give my opinion on who i think we should sign.The positions that Arsenal need to strengthen are Gk,Cb,Dm and St,i would also prefer a winger if wenger decides to sell gervinho.

GOALKEEPER
JULIO CESAR

Reports are that Arsenal have agreed a preliminary contract with julio cesar of qpr but both parties are looking at other options available to them and it is said that wenger is not really convinced about cesar but if he could not find a better gk than the deal will go through.

Pros:He is at an age where he would offer competition to szczesny but not push him out the team,he has a lot of experience of playing at the highest level and winning trophies,his experience could help the youngsters especially szczesny.
Cons:Cesar would not be my first choice either he was a great gk at Inter but there is a reason that Inter let him will leave he is not the the same player anymore and is especially weak at handling crosses which is one of the main attribute required to be a gk in Epl
Probability of transfer:8/10

RENE ADLER

The Gk i would like to see at Arsenal is Rene Adler,the only reason he is not Germany's no 1 right now is because of an unfortunate injury he suffered before the world cup in africa.Adler's links to Arsenal were hot in May but have cooled down now even though he admitted recently that he would like to play for a club like Arsenal
Pros:He is strong at handling crosses,commands his box well and is entering the prime of his career.Adler would not be very expensive leaving more money for other positions and has performed consistently this season for Hamburg fighting his way back into the German national side after receiving a call up last year.
Cons:The only thing against adler that i can think of is that he could push szczesny out for the long term which would eventually result in szczesny's departure who is a passionate Arsenal fan and a fan favorite.
Probability of transfer:3/10

Summer transfer window is always a difficult time for arsenal fans,each summer arsenal fans are given hope that this will be the transfer window that will bring a change in fortune for arsenal,each summer arsenal fans draw a list of players that they would like to see at arsenal and most of them including me keep waiting till the last hour of the window hoping that arsenal might announce the signing of a world class player but we are disappointed every year.
Arsenal fans are divided into two groups,those who agree with wenger's spending policy and those who do not,i agree with wenger's policy as arsenal do not have a sugar daddy owner who gives wenger unlimited cash to spend on world class players,we had to take the sensible route and spend on a break-even basis.
I have a feeling this year is going to be different we have signed new sponsorship deals,paid off most of our debt and will get rid of some of the unwanted players which will free up wages to sign new players.The question is which positions do you think arsenal should strengthen?And which players would you prefer for those positions?Request everyone to give realistic answers and not name players like messi or ronaldo.
