Winter's Eyes

Now it‘s snowy outside. Therefore I named the picture Winter‘s Eyes because the closeup at the broken window express well the current time. However that‘s a trick – the artwork was made not now. The picture was found in my archives. Does it mean the image of my farewell was the prophetic?

When everything look pale, the best way to return the colors back to life is to open a dictionary. This book is the source of the never-ending inspiration to me. Each word has a meaning there and there is no milk-and water – no ambiguity.

It would be just marvy in case the titles of my pictures would share the same clarity.

Such way the viewing of personal archives as if enables the artist to relive the past - creates the miracle by awaking him to the gratitude for everything he was trusted to experience once upon a time. So I dare to look at my 'art by Tomas' as the blessing that guards me from any grumbling or the complaints.

I like coffee (black and without sugar) Therefore its overspill was like an intimate bereavement. The splodge captivated me, tacked my eyes to the table. The spillage looked so attractively, thus I took a photo and...discovered myself in the picture. The last made the dirty table into the artwork – the scruff became the artist.

The Survivor - according to Tomas Karkalas

The pictures should look beautifully, and this shot was such in its original state. Yet I stumbled upon my own shadow. My identification attempts changed the purity of the nature into the challenge of the flower. The artwork was made.
While listening to insights, my visions obtained the words and the colors received the need to respond- the need to quit the silence was produced.
Though some wrinkles on the surface appeared, but beauty of the flower was fortified - not something that wither up, but the survivor looks at you from the canvas now.

I love this last leaflet, yet it is not so dark in my room in spite of the warning world news.
I don't want to know what I factually am (what I could be according to what I should be) and that's no wonder - the key to that riddle is my status (the diagnosed as ...unfit to any in this life -the disabler-the dependent) So I am the professional of hiding from oneself already for a long.
I apologize for such dark information, yet that's my diary, and secondly, that painful truth explains my love to the last leaflet.
I would like to hear your mind, yet have I the right to ask for comments? I can just to think you wouldn't throw away the above photo sketch - the picture of what's under the beautiful mask.

It was easy to take a photo. It was lovely and interesting to transform the shot into the painting. I had a good time then. Therefore the questioning of the meaning of my 'creativity' should look the needless now, because it is the obvious. And that is sorrowful: I ought to confess that while creating there were no wise thoughts (I didn't worry about any high ideas) experienced just joy to sit in an awe. That forces me to choose now either honestly voice the above truth or to dive into the philosophy...The description of any image always puts such test of personal openness, and that just can't be the meaningless. So let's look at the picture once again. Did you sense yourself in the story of the artwork 'hidden in a leaflet'?

I love the hospital. It gives us lots of time to rethink all our deeds, to revalue all achievements. In my case, it was great indeed to thumb through the sketchbook without any need to pick up anything in the concrete. Such way I re-discovered the above photo. What was just a shot started to talk - caught me unawares. The colorful leaves will turn into the compost heap and feed the earth - they will nurture the forthcoming new day. The artworks can only to dream about such perspective....
Each time I put down my paintbrush (or camera - the sketchbook) the artist transforms into the viewer and turns the common lectures of the art critic upside-down. Such way I stopped counting my already arranged exhibitions and bowed to the nurse that enabled me to take a sip of fresh air once again.

This blind shot rescued me from any prejudices and thus enabled to rejoice over the freedom of the light I am glad to share with you now.
The above picture reflected my daily encounters (talked eloquently about the possibilities of the disabler who lives below poverty line) and that didn't allure. Yet the bad weather in the picture didn't threaten but awakened. I rejoiced not at my handicrafts but the freshness of the air. That was the healing experience indeed. While the artworks need the promotion and the poor sketches has no chance to succeed in the market, the light requests just our willingness to accept her and thus uplifts our eyes and fills with the gratitude,

abstracts deal with the emotions and the current events are rich with the passion. Therefore I love the style of emotional expressions (the abstract painting) as one that reflects today's world the best.
Plus the abstract artworks are very helpful - serves us not only as the art mirrors but the good whip too. Just think. It is easy to recognize lots of various figures (everything you just dream about) in the above picture, yet it is impossible to enjoy any shape in the concrete. So the impossibility to rejoice over the eyesight prevents us from focusing on the flat art surface and thus turns us from our handiworks to people next to us (next to me) - Hello my dear friends! We all know well that the same God's Spirit indwells in us all, yet is it possible to illustrate above with TV news? So the reality becomes doubly confusing and we would be inescapably lost if not the Bible which answers all confusions... Such way while preparing to go to hospital I'm filled with the divine peace and wish just one - wish to share my riches (God's blessing) with you too.

Tomorrow will start Top Sites Tuesday, yet let me jump over the time (to start Tuesday on Monday) because of my total unawareness of what will be next minute. So to speak, the bodily health resists the spirit, edit her movement.

The photo introduces my little yellow fellow. I'm even glad to identify myself with this little flower. We both are alike- we both are growing without any gardening. The yellow taraxacum is free from fear to be cut by the florist....We both experience the alike destiny. That's the freedom to stay green- Yellow survivor is Tomas Karkalas signature... or maybe the silent path fits better than above photo to express confrontation of emotions with the reality I'm facing? Daydreamers in a mirror of Tomas Karkalas art 2011

While looking at this my last digital painting, I was reminded once again that the photos inspire the thinking indeed. I saw not an abstract watercolor but the origins of this image - the photography of my dirty table, and the wondrous transformation took place once again. The mysterious spots dropped away their outward ambiguity and became the bold statements - the mirror of my walking in the sculpture park. What could be identified as the lazy figures were not the laziness at all but my firm decision not to participate in the meaningless disorder for not to loose what still is remaining - the peace amidst turmoil that disguises as the responsibility for joy to breathe
So what where the origins of this painting?
When I looked at my cluttered table. there were no daydreamers in my eyesight, or were they here already? If one fail to understand what he sees in front, does that mean that what he see do not exist?
Painting healed me literally - enabled me to wish you all the best!

The artist have a saying "if a picture needs explanation, it isn't completed yet" The image may wake up the emotions at a glimpse, yet that would be just the first impression of the reality we are facing. It is our response to the gift of life that enables the things we touch to transform into the artworks that we enjoy and appreciate for their comfort and guidance on the daily round. Therefore I name the shots we take our judges, who inquire what was recognized by us. The crumbs on a table, or self-portraits?
The table will be cleaned soon, yet the faces we will recognize (or not) will follow us for ever.

My diary serves me like the rescue party because while thinking about you, I look for something positive to share with you. So I named this digital painting art and crafts comforter.
That's not a joke. While writing, I'm thinking about the eternal values and do not bother for my personal inability to participate in the shows anywhere just because of the cost of the artistic materials (for example, the framing of the pictures costs more than my disability pension)...
While blogging I didn't complain of my finances but look for the meaning of my being here and now.. Is that not a relief?
It's much more beneficial to welcome all (even the unknown passersby) and enjoy the fellowship than to enjoy the headlines in the solitude

The dust guarded the streets of my wish to kiss the earth ....Thus the Fairy healing was lost. I just took the photo. Yet can substitute this digital painting (my visual musing) for the honourable duty to bow personally?
Art never will die. The light twinkle in black-and-white photographs of the views of underfoot accidents, but it is otherwise in the my case. Tomas Karkalas should be grateful for being able to see the world (to be alive) yet he dares to grieve for his inability to get good camera for the illustration of his diary (for his financial helplessness) No, the unemployed for life disabler was not left for himself. I have the caring family and do not lack for the daily bread, but is that enough to be a man? While the true artists decorate the trivial round by the awakening of the dreams, Tomas try to hide his complaints under the symbolism of the metaphors. The fine arts are the glorious, but the flesh is. .. look above.
If one likes to eat, he is not a cook therefore, but if I took a pen, does that mean that I became the artist? The self-deception looks like safety-belt in the life ocean and offers the attention grabbing titles to the abstracts. So you see something like art according to newspaper above.
I greatly appreciate your comments, respect you. Therefore I thought I should share the truth about myself with you. So this post was put on a screen.

Farewell to Artist

Farewell to Artist 2011 Tomas Karkalas, Lithuania

Each time I turn on my computer, something appears on its screen. The pictorial digital diary was collected such way till now. The huge archives enabled me to see myself as the artist and... I didn't resist that sweet temptation- my meditations in color were presented as the artworks to you, yet were they such? Have I the right to name my visual musing the exponent of the Fine Arts? Lets return to the picture. If you recognize a stone in it, the image would become the landscape of the sculpture park... and the earth TALKS loudly there. The visitors needs just to wish to listen.... that's good until we try to embezzle the heavenly message by naming it as some personal creation...If you will recognize the sculpture park in the piece above, you will prove not my artistry but your personal creativity. Tomas Karkalas would be glad to bow to you. In the light of all mentioned above, I titled that piece Farewell to Artist.

This picture presents to you the sculpture that captivated me. It was hard to pass by this stone in silence at the sculpture park in spite of the heavy rain. So this post appeared. I was gazing at cold drops that were crashing on the stone surface and thus formed the puddles - the tiny mirrors that reflected my own eyes. Such way the time was interpreted- my digital painting expressed the dreams that were embodied in the outward shapes that needed personalization for becoming alive to serve as a guide to me. So an abstract painting obtains the signature status.

This is my last picture and it is a quiz. What is the message of this image? Is it just a photo reminder about the urgent need to restore the pavement or a portrait of the encounter with the ages underfoot? Do you see the rubble in the photo or the artistic faces?
Lets remind a saying "you get what you see" We may face quite opposite realities, but they both will be not a wild fantasy but the marks of our choice. Now I must to confess that I fear a bit the shots I am taking on my daily walk, yet they warm the heart with the identification of life in the outwardly dead surfaces.

Is it possible to paint without the paintbrush?
See for yourself. By the way, this image looks the best in its origin size (80x60cm)
My painting didn't portray any separate sculpture but talks about the the whole sculpture park. So its viewing should be based not on examination of the separate strokes but on seeking the traces of Klaipėda's history.. So please open your eyes widely for the inner light could help you to break through the ambiguity of these shapes.
