Today Graphic 45 announced the 30 finalists for their 2012 Design Team!

Though this is my third time applying, this is my second year as a finalist.

And I am just as nervous as the first time...What a blessing this is..

Fretting if my designs are good enough, trying to come up with out of this world designs for the finals. So exciting!!

One more round to go, and the competition is AMAZING!!

Graphic 45 Design Team 2012 Audition

Wow, Wow, wowza...It is hard to believe that just a year ago I was nervously applying for the Graphic 45 Design Team.

This year, I am just as nervous, but with a lot of great experiences under my belt.

First off, I would just like to say that Graphic 45 is an amazing team to design for, and I wish everyone luck that is applying!

This last year has been full of incredible opportunities, meeting outstanding new people and living the dream. Hoping to extend that dream with one more year!

The first project I would like to share is a brand new layout, created just for this special occasion!

So many times in life, just like this one, I am left wondering..

Where have the years gone?

Created using a mix of An ABC Primer, Steampunk Debutante, Curtain Call, On The Boardwalk, Olde Curiosity Shoppe and a dash of A Proper Gentleman for spice..

All Meshing perfectly with the colors of my photo, taken by a good friend Johnnie King.

Now for a look at some of my designs created over the past year with Graphic 45,

Starting with Layouts..

This layout was created for last years mail in submissions. Made with 100's of pop dots and

layering, This is the perfect example of the scene's and imagery that I love to create using Graphic 45 papers.

One of my favorite lines, Steampunk Debutante is so very versatile. It's great for creating super cute layouts as well as all those funky Altered Art and Mixed Media Creations that I am hooked on..

And don't forget all those incredible story book characters that just bring you back to childhood....

Now onto some cards and tags...

My very first creation on the G45 Design Team was this Circus Tent Triptych Card.

Created to fold flat, with layers and layers of Circus fun made to look just like a 3 ring circus, using left over Graphic 45 packaging tags and their metal hinges.

It is no secret that Halloween is one of my favs, and this little card and tags are no exception!

Made with the fun and whimsical, Magic of Oz line..

And sometimes you just need to keep on believing in magic...

Fairies come to life in this dimensional card created using Graphic 45's

Once Upon A Springtime!

And don't forget about using Graphic 45 papers for all those Handmade Holiday cards, tags and gifts.

This card was created with a Shadowbox effect by cutting and folding a recessed window into the card.

And last, but not least in my mind, my favorite to design....some Mixed Media and Altered Art!!

This first design was created out of an old book, hand carved using an Xacto knife to make a little nook for a shadowbox, or hidden object if you choose. Decorated with the magical designs of Graphic 45's Halloween in Wonderland.

Next is the fun and movable, Elephant Pull Toy! Ready for the circus, he is waving his red flag and

decked out in his cute clown attire.. Designed using one of my ever favorite lines, Le Cirque

And Here is the Circus..Designed using Graphic 45's 5x8 Altered Art Box.

Complete with a stage, and circus tent top!

And on the inside, the clowns are going wild!!!

Keep up with time, with this Huge Steampunk Debutante Perpetual Calendar...And don't forget to countdown to Halloween with this Spooky Advent Calendar.

Add some May Arts Ribbon, a bell shaped ornament and an old candlestick and get a beautiful Winter Angel with a scene inside perfect for any centerpiece.

Last to finish things off with a little funk. And a twist of Steampunk.

Dreaming of Mixed Media With Graphic 45

Hello and Welcome on this Fabulous Wednesday!
Today I have some fun creations in store for you! So let's not waste any time and get to the Eye Candy!

Art for me is a daily part of life. It is my release, my strength, and my inspiration.
It has taught me patience, how to let go, and most important, who I really am.
I feel as an artist, the world around you is seen in a different hue. Not always marching to the same beat as everyone else. Maybe you are a dreamer, or hopeless romantic. As artists We live in a reality based world, that is often visited by fairies, strange creatures and all things magical. Where pigs really can fly, and anything is possible!

For me, the creative process is something that just happens. I never really have a set plan to create anything specific in mind. Maybe I know it is a canvas, or a shadowbox, but otherwise I let the papers and images guide my imagination. Once an idea sparks, it becomes a mad dash to make the vision come to life, as dust bunnies build up and dinner becomes something just quick and convenient. Searching for images, or staining my fingers with inks, clothes covered in paint and staying up past the witching hour drivin to just get a little more done.
And once I finally do hit the bed, dreams of my creation keep me working all night long, sometimes to where I don't feel I have slept at all. Wake up, send the kiddo off to school and do it all again, until it has come to life!

With a deep interest for Halloween, and the more bazaar. I have been inspired by artists like Edward Gorey and Tim Burton. Add a love for science, architecture and anything mechanical, it was only natural for me to be drawn to the style of steampunk.
These collages are the perfect example of my love for steampunk and all things funky.

Each piece is created on stretched canvas, with a unique hand painted background by using a mix of Acrylic paints, and adding a touch of shine and wonder with Twinkling H20s.

Bright colors and imagery pull you into an almost surreal world, where giant octopus battle with big fish. Elephants perform in top hats, and ravens rest about. This is my fantasy world come to life!"

Easy Gift Ideas Using Graphic 45's Tropical Travelogue

Hiyaz and Welcome on this Fabulous Wednesday!! Today I have quite a few goodies to share with you, including a couple tutorials on creating quick and easy gifts for any occasion.

With Valentines Day just around the corner, and another year full of bithdays headed our way, it is never to early to arm yourself with handmade gift ideas!!

And who doesn't love giving or recieving something handmade with love?!?

Also as promisd, a full reveal of just one of 6 of my CHA projects...So onto the tutorials!!!

Business Card Case Tutorial

Blank business card holders and pill cases can be found at your local craft store, sometimes even Walgreens. Can also be found on etsy, shipped directly to your house!

Step 1: To create the business card holder you want a strong adhesive that will hold on the smooth metal surface.

I have found that Scor Tape works the best for this. To get started cover entire area you wish to decorate with strips of Scor Tape.

Step 2: Find and cut out desired image to the size needed. These images from Tropical Travelogue are almost the perfect size with minimal trimming!

Step 3: Once image has been cut to size, remove the backing from strips of Scor Tape and adhere.

Step 4: To keep your image protected, waterproof and long lasting paint a few light coats of Mod Podge overtop using a paint brush. Make sure to allow plenty of time for drying between layers

To Create the Bracelet or Pill Case

Bracelet Blanks can be found at Michaels or many other Craft Supply stores. Metal frames used also available at craft stores, or from etsy delivered right to your door!

Step 1: Find the desired Graphic 45 image you wish to use and cut to the size needed for metal frame.

Step 2: Adhere using Scor Tape as instructed for creating Business Card Case

(See Instructions Above)

Step 3: This time for protection you want a hard clear glaze that will keep your image sealed and safe forever inside the recessed area.

The perfect thing for this is Diamond Glaze. With a great tip for application, just directly apply over surface to create a glass like effect.

*Allow at least 12 hours to dry before touching or moving after application.

Once Glossy Accents has dried you will have a smooth glassy surface that looks truly professionally made!

Step 4: Last of all adhere your completed metal frame to bracelet blank using E6000 Industrial strength adhesive, and allow plenty of time to dry

* To create the decorated pill case, follow the steps 1-3 for creating the bracelet

CHA and Catching Up!

WoW, I can't believe it is almost Feb, and I have been this far behind!

In December I did 3 shows before Christmas, and was looking forward to January for some Catch Up time. Once January 1st hit, my store became super busy with flower and elephant pull toy orders, it was almost unbelievable how fast they were coming in!

On top of all the excitement of business picking up, it was time to get creative on Graphic 45 projects for CHA using their fantastic new lines!!!

WHEW!

Everything is now COMPLETELY caught up, including 2 boxes of goodies shipped to CHA containing:

The last of the elephants have been made up and shipped out!

Sadly, I only have one more remaining elephant in stock.

Unless I can find someone to create a 3 part mold to make more of these Cute little elephants, I will have to say good bye to these creations for good...

This one was created for the top of a cake at a baby shower! Made with super bright colors to match this amazing cake with only a few alterations...

Now that all my CHA projects are shipped, it's time to change focus to another Show!

Super excited about this one! Should be a lot of fun!!

Now enough sneaky peaky teasers, onto the real deal!

For my project I decided to alter a Bell Shaped Glass Ornament. Found at most local craft stores, including Michaels and Hobby Lobby, also available at some Scrapbook Stores released by Melissa Frances.

The glass ornament comes with a precut Chipboard base that can be decorated with any materials, and turned into an ornament, or a wonderful piece of altered art with a scene underneath!

For mine, I decided it was a woman's skirt!!

Created by layering strips of May Arts yummy white lace side by side and on top of itself, then hand stitching them along the top, binding them all together.

For easy placement upon the Bell Shaped Ornament, simply sew a small key ring to the top of the presewn skirt.

Now it will sit perfectly atop your ornament, and keep the perfect "skirt" shape, and now may be adhered into place using a high tack glue.

Trim ends of lace to desired length of skirt once adhered to ornament.

The woman was hand cut from Graphic 45's Steampunk Debutante Line, wings were stamped separately onto dictionary paper, cut out and adhered.

*To add strength to your angel, firmly adhere a popsicle stick to her back!

For smaller paper projects, use toothpicks!!

Under the skirt I wanted the appearance of a peaceful snowy scene. Using miniatures found at my local craft store, I was able to create the feel I was looking for.

First I covered the chipboard base using Vintage Silver Flower soft.

Once dry, I adhered my tiny white Christmas Tree, and decorated it using vintage looking wooden beads found from my local craft store.

And last a tiny plastic deer lazing about placed right in front of the tree.

Super simple for such an elegant effect!!

Last, I adhered the decorated chipboard base atop a rusty looking cast iron candlestick using E6000.

Allow plenty of time to dry

Finish the whole thing off with a Cream Satiny Sweet May Arts Ribbon tied around the center, and set into a worn ceramic dish. For effect add a few glass ornaments and a Pine Cone, or even some fresh greens or Potpourri and you have an instant Elegant Christmas Buffet or Mantle Piece!!!

Also, for easier storage, do not glue the glass ornament to it's base, instead treat it like a Cloche that can just be placed over top. This way it can be wrapped safely away from the weight of the cast iron, and won't accidentally get broken!

Spring Cheer to Brighten Those Gloomy Winter Days Using Graphic 45 Once Upon A Springtime

Hello and Welcome on this Super Cold Thursday!!

Today I have a fun project for you using Graphic 45's Once Upon A Springtime! This is a great little project to brighten up those winter days, and even have a quick and fun technique to share!

So onto the inspirations...

This fun little fairy block was created using a 2" wooden block, 2 Maya Road Bottlecaps, 2" for the mushroom garden and a giant bottle cap for the block to sit into, and some wooden spools for feet!

Notice the mushrooms created out of Graphic 45 Doorknobs and Metal Brads!!!!

The mushrooms are super easy to create with just a little copper refrigeration tubing, purchased at any local hardware store..

To create the mushrooms, simply cut a length of tubing using a pipe cutter, add a little E600 to one end, and slide it over the back of the metal brads or door knob.

It's really just that simple...

Cut your tubing to different lengths and create a whole mushroom garden!

If you have trouble with the brads bottoms, simply snip the fasteners off using wire cutters and you will be left with a blank stem to slide tubing over...

For the cute wooden block I covered it in wonderful Once Upon a Springtime papers. Simply accented by a few handcut images..LOVE the frog with his flower!!

To fill in the spaces around the block inside of the bottlecap I used

some dry moss, adhered with hot glue.

And for an added magical touch sprinkle a little mica for shine, like a light layer of snow melting into the spring!

Hello and Welcome on this, the first Monday of December!

It's hard to believe we are already counting down the days to Christmas, then OMG followed by the New Year..WOW..Honestly the years just seem to go by faster and faster these days...Always leaving me wondering, Where did the time truly go?!?

Well for me it has been busy, busy, busy!!!

And loving every minute of it. But sometimes in all my busy times running around getting ready for shows, teaching classes or just creating I forget about the people who mean the most to me. It's good to just take a moment and let someone know you love them. Expecially during those long, gloomy days of Winter.

Getting Out the Christmas Decor with Graphic 45

Hiyaz and Happy Tuesday All!!!

Hope you all survived Thanksgiving with full bellies and lots of naps! By now, most of you are starting to get out the Holiday Decor, if not fully decorated. Taking a family trip to pick a tree, decorating your mantle, or just getting out while you can to hang all those lights on the house.

Well today I have a fun quick little Holiday creation that would look great on the mantle, or would also make a beautiful little heartfelt gift!

This tussy mussy was created using a heavy duty chipboard cone found at any local craft store.

Easily decorated into a one of a kind gift for a friend. Fill it with handmade flowers, or stuff all kinds of little goodies inside and turn it into a gift cone!

Decorated with stunning papers from G45's Christmas Emporium line.

Just wrap cone with paper, glueing as you go. Trim down excess paper and seal with a thin coat of mod podge or gel medium.

Once seal coating has dried, just decorate using vintage looking crepe paper garland and a little bling with a crystal.

And don't forget to add a pipe cleaner handle for hanging..

Fill with handmade flowers all created from G45's Christmas Emporium to match!

It's really that easy!!

Sending Christmas Joy- Graphic 45 Style

Hiyaz and Welcome on this Wonderful Wednesday!

Life has been crazy here between shows, getting sick and just trying to get ready for the Holidays..

Tomorrow my little family and I will be celebrating at home this year, so today will be filled with lots of baking!! Since we couldn't all get together for Thanksgiving, Skyler and I will be heading to Grandmas to bake pumpkin pies and breads with my nieces!!

MMM...I can smell the goodies already!!

But before heading out, I wanted to share a little Christmas Card making inspiration..Just incase you have a little time to sneak off tomorrow while the men are watching football...

This first card was created with a recessed window effect with a quarter inch inward depth.

Tutorial available at SplitcoastStampers.

For my card I re sized my window area to the size of the image I wanted to use.

I absolutely love this picture from Graphic 45's Christmas Emporium.

It really just captures the spirit of Christmas as home!

After cutting my window, I found that Spellbinders Scalloped Rectangle was the exact size to create a decorative edge by using the negative.

I just adore that little elephant pull toy cut from Graphic 45 papers...So stinking cute!

For the inside I decided to create a pocket that would be great for a gift card. Even stuck one in there for effect in my pictures and forgot to remove it before sending off to CHA. A few months later, after my card has traveled to the Netherlands and Australia and now returned home, I was pleased to find it was still there!!!

This next card was also created for CHA Summer 2011 upon the release of Christmas Emporium.

Created with a playful, yet elegant feel, this is one of my favs..

I absolutely love these little children dancing around the Christmas Tree...So Joyful!!

And last but not least, the most elegant of all, yet so simply made. With a luscious mix of black and cream that Graphic 45 does so well....

The buckle used for the front was from my Grandmother's sewing collection. I used it not only because it was hers, and well it matched but because I remember hearing stories about when she was young, getting all dressed up to go window shopping. This image definitely makes me think of those simpler times...

For the inside I wanted to continue the same elegant feel. These little sheet music pages cut from Graphic 45 were simply the perfect thing too!

Last I really wanted to tie the whole thing together, so I cut out and added the little girl playing with her pull toy from Santa!

Storybook Inspiration w/ Graphic 45

Hello and Welcome on this marvelous Thursday!!

Hope that everyone has been having a fun filled week.. The week hasn't been lacking in excitement here. On Tuesday my daughter Skyler turned 6 and we had an amazing fun filled day with presents and special dinners. Wednesday there was no school, so we even got to stay up late.

Followed by conferences Wednesday, then off to finish up some last minute projects before

Horror Hound Weekend.

Today will be all about packing up, creating signs, pricing and any last minute craziness that involves making my house look more like it has been ransacked.

Then Friday at noon I am off to set up my new home with my Bestie Lesley for the next 3 days.

Super excited and looking forward to the Interesting people I will meet at Horror Hound.

From what I understand there are lots of freaky and bazaar costumes, so I will make sure to take TONS of pictures to share!!!

Whew Tired already and it's only Thursday..

Time for a little pick me up inspiration to keep the creativity coming!

For this layout I wanted to create a surreal feel that takes you right into the storybook.

Created using a pleasant mix of Halloween in Wonderland and An ABC Primer with little touches of

Once Upon A Springtime. This layout captures a lot of the wonderful storybook characters that make Graphic 45 papers so amazing!

Instead of going with traditional leaf colors I decided to mix it up a bit with blues and purples that just help to reinforce the storybook feel.

Each tiny leaf was loosely hand cut then inked and slightly folded in half for more texture.

Hidden amongst the leaves are mechanical gears, clocks and even a few surprises..

Here Alice is searching for her storybook ending. As the Cheshire cat peeks from the branches above. Did you ever think Alice In Wonderland would mix so well with Beatrix Potter Images??

Only Graphic 45 could create such Magic!!!

The image of the mother reading to her children inspired this whole layout!!

I wanted it to feel like the children are envisioning these things as they hear the story.

For the title, I wanted to create a storybook looking title that also partially blended into the scene.

Like the sign post that is pointing 2 different directions.

One says "Create", the other "Your". Signifying the choices we all have to make in life.

The image of my daughter are actually from her first day of school this year. Sitting outside on the front step for pictures, this one couldn't have been more meant to be.

Adding the butterfly wings to her picture was the perfect thing to really make the title have so much more meaning!

Here is what you could win from me...

Now onto my Handmade Gift Idea!

This is just a small wooden box with a door and 5 glass windows that you can pick up at any local craft store.

It may look like something very detailed, but can be created in only a few easy steps!

To start out. I painted the trim on the windows white. Then cut strips of paper to cover the small amounts of wood showing on the inside and ouside of the box.

For the inside I wanted the look of wallpaper, and for the outisde the look of a gingerbread house.

Here is what it looked like as a box covered with paper and just decorated on the front.

No Roof Added..

After covering the walls with wallpaper you are ready to create the simple shadowbox scene inside.

To get started right click the clip art provided and save it, size to box and print off.

Once image is printed onto heavy cardstock, cut out the fireplace including Santa.

For added depth, print image off twice and cut Santa out to pop dot over first image.

Adhere to back "wall" of box using pop dots.

Should look like this...

Cut out and add Graphic 45 stocking from Believe paper, Christmas Emporium Collection.

Add some shimmer with Smooch Accent inks, and move onto to the next few quick steps:

Now add a pre decorated mini Christmas tree found at any craft store in front of the fire place.

In front of the Christmas tree, cut and add image of People from Happy Holidays Paper.

And Last of all for the inside, cut out the cute little rocking horse from Toyland paper and adhere on left, in front of tree.

Now you have a gorgeous looking shadowbox with tons of depth that was created with very little cutting of images!

Now for the Roof...

To create this super easy roof all you need is some heavy chipboard a ruler and razor knife.

Measure the length of the top of your box and cut a piece of chipboard that is over half the size.

My roof was 4" long so I cut my chipboard to 8"long.

Once chipboard is to size, find the center width wise and lightly "score" the center by cutting only the top few layers of chipboard.

Fold in half creating a peak.

Paint Roof and glitter as desired, making sure to paint the underside that may show.

For strength create 2 triangles or "soffits" (in housing terms) out of heavy chipboard at the angle you would like you roof to be.

Cover Triangles with paper on the outside, and adhere one triangle to premade roof to help keep shape.

Due to a slight roof overhang, and to make placement easier attach the second Triangle to the top of your box using heavy duty adhesive.

(I didn't decorate the top of my box since I knew it would be hidden by the roof)

Add one more strip of heavy duty adhesive to the front of your box top where the other triangle that is attached to roof will rest.

Make sure in placing your roof, to leave room for your door to open!

Last Attach your roof and add Santa in his Sleigh!

For the front cut out some Holly from G45's Christmas Emporium Papers.

Use some matching Hampton Arts Stamps to create the wonderful stamped image inside a frame.

Add some G45 chipboard and a few little nick nacks, and don't forget adding a snowy look, or brightening up your berries using

Smooch Accent Inks!

Finish the whole thing off with 4, G45 Metal Brads glued to the bottom as feet. This will help your door to easily open and close rather than catching on the table.

And that's how to make a simple box, into a simple fun Shadowbox Christmas House using yummy Graphic 45 products!!

This piece is not only great as a gift, but would be the perfect centerpiece to your buffet set atop a cake plate with some fresh greens! Or place it amongst some Greenery and strands of Christmas Lights on the mantle and watch the glass sparkle!

Capture the Spirit Of The Season w/ Graphic 45!

Today I have an easy to create Halloween Lantern to share with you, but first...

Have you seen Graphic 45's NEW yummy paper line?!?

Let me just say, WOW!!!

Each day this week they are sharing sneak peaks of their newest addition,

Tropical Travelogue!!

A gorgeous mix of tropical birds, African prints, and botanical beauties.

I believe these will be the perfect papers to dive into this winter to wash away those blues!!

But don't just take my word for it, check it out for yourself!!!

And did you see those stamps? Oh MY!!

Now, onto a little Halloween mood lighting just in time for your party, and all those cute

little trick or treaters!!

This fun Halloween lantern was created using the 5x5 Graphic 45 Altered Art Box! So simple to create, all you need is the altered art box, colored vellum, a craft knife, clip light, small low watt light bulb, some wonderful Graphic 45 papers, and a little imagination! ** Clip lights can be found at your local hardware store, created to clip into small openings, great for lanterns, small Christmas houses, and altered art boxes!!!

To create the perfect window for the vellum, use a craft knife to cut an opening thru the flap directly under the cover. Using the opening on the cover as a guide to cut the layer underneath.

Before adhering colored vellum between the flap and cover, make sure to cut a hole in the back for a small clip light and low watt light bulb.

For the hole in the back, measure the diameter of your clip lamp and draw a circle on the back center of the box. Cut the circle out using a craft knife. *This time you are cutting thru 2 layers of chipboard, so be patient!

Now colored vellum may be adhered between layers. Last, glue the top cover shut, and decorate with Graphic 45 papers! Embellish as inspired!!

Boo Banner Graphic 45 Style

Fall is definitely my favorite time of year! The crisp air, the hayrides, bonfires, leaf piles to play in, the colors, mmm and the apples! But really, when I think fall, I think Halloween!!!

Getting to dress up, all the spooky decorations, the stories and history behind it all!

Simply Magic!

That is why I decided to create a Boo Banner using Graphic 45's Kraft Envelope Album.

To help you capture the spirit of the season, I have also created KITS that are available for purchase in my etsy store!

As well as a tutorial for creating the aged Spiderweb's on the envelopes.

So let's get started....

The best part about creating a banner using Graphic 45's Kraft Envelope album is the ability to hide things inside! Create tags, or cards, fill with Halloween decor or candy!

Either way, your guests will love it!

These fun little witch tags were created using the leftover Graphic 45 Staples packages and metal brads. Each tag has a different little seasonal saying, and each witch is a wearing a tiny handmade paper hat complete with trim!

Now onto the Partial Embossing Technique to create a haunting look on your banner!

Colorbox Decades Ink Photogenic

Embossing Folder

This technique can be used with any embossing folders! For this banner, I wanted an elegant yet haunted look, so I went with Cuttlebug’s Spider web Embossing Folder.

Step 1: Take apart album book by bending the binding and remove the pages. Remove cover, and use pages from the inside making sure they all have the same size tabs for hanging.

Step 2: Cut desired paper to size of envelope only, don’t include the tab, this will be decorated separately. I used Tour De France and Well Groomed for my banner.

Step 3: Adhere paper to envelope, and angle cut bottom on both sides, meeting at the center to create a v or flag shape. Make sure not to cut too high, or your tag will hang out!

Lightly Adhere bottom closed to create a pocket.

Step 4: Place envelope partially into embossing folder, angling to make sure paper doesn’t hit die cutting machine before envelope is embossed.

This takes a lot of turning and flipping to get it just right, and don’t be surprised if there is A LOT of your envelope still hanging out.

Step 5: Crank die cutting machine partially to emboss, making sure to stop before envelope hits machine and becomes crushed.

Step 6: Repeat to desired effect

Step 7: Once embossing is done, create a little age using a blending tool and Colorbox Decades Photogenic Ink. Ink to desired effect

Step 8: Using Ink Pad, directly drag ink across embossed area’s and edges of envelope to really make them pop.

Once complete, allow ink to dry, and decorate as desired!! Repeat for desired length of banner, alternating embossed area’s on each envelope!

Also, for added strength of your banner, trace shape onto chipboard, cut out and adhere to the back!

For my hop projects, I decided to use the leftover packing from Graphic 45's Chipboard buttons for a shaker box and Metal Staples packaging to create Christmas Gift Tags! Also I have created a fun technique to share using your repositionable dot roller to create a "snowy" look!

This tag was created using a mix of Wonderful Graphic 45 Christmas Emporium papers, combined with Hampton Arts matching cling stamps and Colorbox's spectacular new matching Decades inks!

Made even more wonderful by Scrapbook adhesives 3D Foam Squares for that extra pop of dimension, and their repositionable dot roller for a truly original aged background!!

For the Second tag, I used an idea that has been nagging at me since I saw the plastic square and rectangle windows used to encase all the Yummy Graphic 45 Staples that I love!

This one was specifically created using the leftover tag and plastic square window from their Chipboard Buttons to create a Winter scene inside of a shaker box!

These little plastic pieces would have just ended up in the trash otherwise!

So now you can put ALL your leftover packaging pieces to good use.

And save the world too, one scrap at a time!

And they come in a number of different sizes depending on which Graphic 45 staples package you use, so the creations could be endless!!

Once shaken, the words "Merry Christmas and Happy New Year" are revealed from underneath the lightly fallen snow. Making this tag the perfect fun and interactive package tie on!

Also these tags are just the right size for that extra special handwritten Holiday greeting!

Loving the combination of Hampton Art's Christmas Emporium stamps and Scrapbook Adhesives's 3D Foam Squares! To create this effect, I first stamped the desired image onto my tag. I then stamped the image again onto cream cardstock and cut out certain parts that I wanted to pop up.

Afterwards I lined up the cut images over top the prestamped image on the tag and adhered using the foam squares! Also the Chipboard Button couldn't have fit more perfect into the stamped image center!!

And now last but not least, I have a fun technique I would like to share using Scrapbook Adhesive's Repositionable Dot Roller to create the aged "snowy" background used for both Christmas Tags!

Supplies Needed:

Scrapbook Adhesives Repositionable Dot Roller

Ink Blending Tool

Colorbox Graphic 45 Decades Inks

Yummy Graphic 45 Papers

Leftover Tag From Graphic 45 Packaging

Step 1: Cut and Cover leftover tag with desired paper. I used Happy Holidays to start with a cream base.

Step 2: Using Scrapbook Adhesives Repositionable Dot Tape Runner, Cover the tag with repositionable dots to a desired effect. For these tags I covered them completely with repositionable adhesive.

This will act as a mask for step 3!

Step 3: Once tag is covered with repositionable dot adhesive, use an ink blending tool to blend Colorbox Decades inks over top of surface of tag and adhesive.

Blend to a desired effect, making sure to cover entire tag with color!

Step 4: Once Dry, using your index finger, gently rub away adhesive dots to reveal a tiny distressed polka dot pattern.

Continue until all adhesive is removed, then decorate as imagined!

Now onto my Trick or Treat Bag, and even a little something extra!!

I absolutely LOVE the image of Glenda flying on an airplane cut from Goblin Gazette. I am always attracted to all the wonderful vintage black and white advertisement images G45 creates! They are perfect with any papers or colors, and add such a dramatic effect!

Also with the release of the Magic of OZ stamps, I didn't want to completely cover my bag with paper. So instead I stamped the word wicked all over and lightly inked the bag in oranges and teals.

The Imaginarium chipboard frame was something that I remembered last minute, and couldn't have been more perfect!

LOVE this little saying too! So cute combined with Glenda on her airplane!!

Also in the excitement of the season I decided to create a Steampunk Masquerade mask,

as well as my very first video tutorial that I am super excited to share with you!!

This mask was created out of heavy chipboard. Drawn then cut out with a razor knife. Covered in a layer of tissue paper using another one of my aging techniques(see video below).

Smaller mask was drawn onto Le Romantique's Celebration paper, cut out and layered over top.

The wonderful Fleur De Li at the top is a left over from our Want 2 Scrap blog hop, and don't forget all the sparkly bling! LOVE leftovers!!

For the handle, I used a 1/4" dowel rod, painted it black, covered it with Rusty Hinge Distress Stickles and adhered ribbon around it using Scor Tape.

At the bottom I attached a small wooden bead with a decorative stick pin!

And now I would like to share with you my very first technique video! YAY!!

Last month I shared a creepy aging technique using gesso and the response was incredible! I had a lot of people asking if it would work well for altered books?

Well this technique is great for creating a rough, yet flexible and leathery feeling surface absolutely perfect for books! Or "bat" Masks.. Super simple to do in only 2 easy steps, all it takes is a little tissue paper, a paint brush and some acrylic paints!!

It really doesn't get any better than this!!

So on that note, let's head off for a little crafty fun..

off to Paris to experience the delight of the circus!

Created using Graphic 45's brand new Altered art boxes. These boxes are super easy to create with.

Great for so many altered art projects, and even with a little mini book for those extra special memories!

To create the top of the circus tent I made a large paper rosette. Then instead of glueing it flat, I let it create a cone shape and glued the ends flat to the front of the box. Using bamboo skewers I created posts that appear to be holding the whole thing up! At the top, a metal brad has been inked blue using colorbox pigment inks, then sprayed with a layer of clear coat for protection.

For the front I wanted the look of a layered stage. Using left over tape rolls cut in half, some chipboard and a small round gift box cut in half, it was actually fairly easy to create. using the precut holes already in the front of the box to help support and build off of.

Once decorated with all the paper layers on the inside, I found the box didn't close tight. So I added a bent metal tag closure. Using G45's metal tags and hinges.

The first thing you see when you open to the inside is a Paris scene. This flap on the altered box is not created with a window. This is something I added by cutting with my razor knife from the top layer, and extending by tracing the open area of the frame used.

Once completely opened you get the full circus experience!!

Clowns dance about on high wires. Another metal tag makes the perfect platform. Decorated wonderfully with a punched border from Fiskars Postage Stamp Border Punch. An elephant stands on a ball, while a trainer stands ready with his chair and whip inside of another circus ring.

Love these stamped metal lion heads. Super light weight, paintable or let them rust for a more vintage look.

This fun nook was created when I made my stage. This is actually the back side of the tape roll decorated. So fun!

I whipped up a little something special for the occasion too!

Recently I stumbled across a company making shrines. I think I missed the Memo, because I feel like the last one to find this fantastic company!

I placed an order, and they arrived super fast. A few days later, just as I was sitting down to make a present for the occasion , there was a knock at the door. And to my surprise it was my mail man with the package of goodies!! It was like a sign telling me this is what I needed to use to create the perfect present!

And boy was I right!

These little shrines are so easy to use, and so fun to decorate! The possibilities are endless!

And it was a perfect match combined with Graphic 45's Ornate Metal Doorplates!!

Like a match made in scrappy heaven if I do say so myself...

The perfect paper combination to set my color palette was Graphic 45's Steampunk Debutante and Curtain Call. Inked with a fantastic mix of Colorbox/Graphic 45 Decades inks and Distress Inks for a almost magical feel! For the flames I used a mix of acrylic paints and Metallic paints. Layering colors lightly while wet.

Probably the best part of the shrines is the ability to create a window with many layered images! In my window I placed an image cut from Steampunk Debutante, then placed it underneath a layer of transparency that has been stamped and alcohol inked for a more mysterious effect.

Getting Behind

I wanted to apologize for just falling off the blogosphere for a while there. I have been super sick and way to busy to be sick. Still not feeling 100%, but have to get my life back into action. Graphic 45 Magic Of Oz Wall Decor

Happy Monday!! Hope you all had an outstanding weekend full of joy! Today is officially the first bus ride and full day of Kindergarten for my daughter Skyler!! Sitting here a little teary eyed, excited and scared for her all at the same time. Hoping she has better school experiences than I did, and just sad she has grown up so fast. Where does the time go???

Well if I have anything to do with it, it goes to creating, creating, creating after spending as much time possible with family. And today I have a one of a kind creation to share with you!

Lately I have been really hooked on creating dimensional wall art. Dabbling a little here and there since last year, I have found that truly, Graphic 45 makes the best papers for this occasion. With images that are so unique, romantic, playful and just great for telling a story.

And what better story to tell than the Magic of Oz!

Created using dimensional letters, set on a classic black textured Coordinations/Graphic 45 Cardstock, making the colors really pop. All set inside of a 12x12 frame. But what makes this so fun, are all the little cut Graphic 45 images and the yummy Imaginarium chipboard!

Instead of spraying my chipboard pieces with a glimmer mist, I used Smooch to paint right over top giving it a great solid, bright shimmer that doesn't look washy!

*TIP* when placing dimensional objects in hands of pop dotted images, stick the object directly into the pop dot foam. This will help give it support!
