The opening for the ARC Select exhibit at Rehs Contemporary Galleries was awesome! A big thank you to my friends and online followers who came to the opening! It meant a lot to be able to meet some of the people I've been corresponding with for years. And it was super fun to walk in and see that one of my paintings had already sold!

ARC Select Exhibit at Rehs Contemporary Galleries

2016-10-09T10:01:00.000-07:00

I'm very excited to be part of an upcoming exhibit at Rehs Contemporary Galleries in New York City. This was an opportunity that came to me as a result of entering the Art Renewal Center's annual salon competition. Rehs Galleries chose six artists out of approximately 530 finalists to participate in this exhibition, and I was one of the lucky chosen. The other artists are pretty amazing: Duffy Sheridan, Joseph McGurl, Richard Hall, Phillipe Attie, and Walter Rane. This is going to be an impressive show, and I'm thrilled to be a part of it! The exhibit runs from October 22 to November 18, with the opening reception on October 22, from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm. If you are in the NYC area, I hope you'll consider coming to the opening reception. I'd love to meet you!

I've got six paintings in the exhibit, all featuring tin toys from the 1950's and 1960's. They were so fun to collect, and much more fun to paint! I'm leaving tomorrow for Washington, D.C. and then on to New York City for the opening. When I get back from my trip I'll post all of them for you to see. But for now, I'll show you the biggest painting I have in the show:

Marine Show at Kirsten Gallery

2015-07-25T15:44:00.001-07:00

The Kirsten Gallery is holding their annual Marine Show through September 20, 2015, with the opening reception Sunday, July 26 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. I plan to be at the reception, so I hope you'll stop by if you're in the Seattle Area!

This year I wasn't in the mood to paint boats, so I took a bit of liberty with the theme and painted this fun little still life. I wish the glitter showed up better in the picture. It's definitely one you need to see in person!

Pastel Society of America Exhibition Award!

2014-08-27T15:46:00.000-07:00

I'm absolutely thrilled to report my painting "Full House" received the Canson Excellence in Arts Award at the Pastel Society of America's 42nd Annual Exhibition, "Enduring Brilliance." The super exciting part for me is that winning this award has given me MASTER PASTELIST status with the PSA!

Ever since I started entering this show (this is my 5th year/3rd award), I've wanted to go back to NYC to see the show in person. Unfortunately, I was never able to go. This year, I actually planned ahead, kept my schedule clear, and bought my tickets. The fact that I won this award and Master Pastelist status is just icing on the cake! I can't wait!

The show is being held at the National Arts Club in New York City from September 2 to 27, 2014. I'm so looking forward to seeing the show and meeting new pastelist friends. And gallery hopping in NYC!

My painting "Saturday Evening Puzzle" was awarded the President's Award at the Pastel Society of America's 41st Annual Pastels Only Exhibition!

This painting is a bit of an homage to my childhood art hero, Norman Rockwell. I just loved his work when I was a kid. Although my composition was confusing at times, it was great fun to be able to paint his paintings.

The PSA exhibition runs through September 28, 2013 at the National Arts Club in New York City. Unfortunately, I won't be attending this year. I thought I might be able to, but it's not going to happen. I say that every year, so next year I'm going to try to plan ahead and see if I can make it to the banquet.

I'm very happy to report my painting "Daily Habit" won a Jack Richeson & Co. merchandise award in Peninsula Art League's 11th Annual Juried Exhibition. The Richeson company is unbelievably generous with their support of artists, and this is my third certificate I'll use this year. It's been fantastic for my art supply budget (is there anything better than free art supplies?).

The PAL exhibition is being held at the Harbor History Museum in downtown Gig Harbor until October 5, 2013. There is some excellent work in the exhibition. Be sure to check it out if you're in the area!
