My previous last post in this blog is in 2013. Therefore, it is been 6 years that I didn't write anything on this blog. Perhaps all of my fellow readers and followers of this blog have already forgotten that this blog still exists.

I would like to confess that I did lost interest in blogging and writing in 2013 due to my busy schedule of business and screen printing.

But the good news is... now I'm back.

And I hope this time I can share more stuff about arts that I'm working on.

You may ask, what I'm doing while not blogging? Did I stop doing arts?

The answer is YES, I'm still doing arts. It's just I didn't update this blog. I've been doing printmaking arts. I'm doing silkscreen printing business.

So for those who wanted to catch up what was happening with my arts since 2013 until now, you may visit APOGEEK Instagram Page. Perhaps, all those pictures may have your answers.

Munah - Autodesk Sketchbook Mobile express + Finger

Yesterday I found a free Android apps on Google Play Store called Autodesk Sketchbook Mobile Express and started to play around with it.

I think this application is so amazing. I'm looking forward to buy the pro version soon. However, I'm afraid cross hatching with my finger would cause blister. Is there anyone to sponsor me a capacitive stylus for my Samsung Google Nexus? heheh

Pergh Character Redesign Battle - Sephiroth

I'm planning to enter this week battle at Pergh. Every week, there will be Character Redesign Battle at Pergh.com. And the title for this week is Sephiroth, which is one of the antagonist Final Fantasy character. So, here is a sneak peek of my work in progress:

Copying Masterpieces - My Progressive Learning

Yesterday, I redraw a cartoon of female blogger artwork which I found on iStockPhoto. My attempt of copying other artist's masterpieces is another way to learn and get the feeling of how the original artist drawing it. Like a copy ninja, I use my Sharingan technique to copy the artwork. Hehehe... And today, I updated the same artwork, progressively add more details to follow the original masterpiece. Even thou this is not an oil painting masterpiece, I can still feel on how the artists draw it on vector graphic software like Inkscape.

This drawing is still unfinished, but enough for today. Because I'm already tired to continue. Maybe later. If you want to know more about Copying Masterpiece technique, there is a book about it. You can grab it from the link below.

Redraw To Learn

Sometimes, we can learn something when we redraw someone else's artwork. I do learn from it too. As I feel so bored today, I redraw this female blogger artwork for fun. It is unfinished, but enough for me to have fun today. I found the original image on istockphoto via google image search.

I did it in Inkscape and GIMP.

Logo Design: Xventour

Xventour is a brand for extreme sports & outdoor activity group in Malaysia which is founded in year 2000. It begins with a bunch of crews from Outdoor & Recreational Club of UiTM Machang, Kelantan who loved this kind of sports activity somewhere around year 1997. Since then, this group of people have been actively doing private hiking, kayaking, wall & rock climbing, white water rafting, snorkeling, camping, mountain bike and so on. Just tell them which mountain of Malaysia you wanna go, they are the experts who you can rely on.

Last week, the chief of this team asked me to re-design this brand logo. I feel honored to design their brand logo. So, after several design works, this is my first proposal. I hope they will love it.

In this design, I'm highlighting the X as the brand icon and embed a mountain shape at the bottom of the X. Even thou this team are expert in mountain hiking, the same mountain symbolism in this logo would give a lot of meanings like their courage and teamwork. Climbing up a mountain or other height often indicates spiritual or mental "rising" or improvement.

Cross Hatching Practice: Maher Zain

I'm not feeling very well today. I got MC, staying at home and tuning to Malaysian radio station which couldn't stop playing Maher Zain songs. Perhaps, I may have also been infected by Maher Zain fever around Malaysia. Therefore, I took my pen and draw this for all Maher Zain fans...

This drawing is done using ballpoint pen and my sketchbook paper. Hope you enjoy it!

Sketch Practice: Sumardi

I haven't practice my drawing and sketching for more than a year maybe due to my busy daily life. So, I started back to play around with my pencil sketch. This time, I draw Sumardi from my photo stocks.

Bad result this time, seems like my hand & eye need some alignment check. I couldn't match what I see to what I draw...

For those who didn't follow this blog much, Sumardi is one of my friend who love FOSS and a PHP expert.

While waiting for the upcoming MOSC2011 event which is planned to be held on 3, 4, 5 and 6 July 2011, I created this artwork as my contribution to the community. MOSC2011 stands for Malaysian Opensource Conference 2011 which is Open Source Software conference organize by Malaysia Open Source Community. MOSC2011 is a conference for sharing knowledge in ICT thats related to Open Source Software (OSS) and OSS communities.

I don't feel so good because I couldn't join the Meeting Of Style at Sungai Kelang, LRT Pasar Seni on 4-5 Dec 2010. I heard that they are doing graffiti there. Talking about graffiti, I love to see graffiti art by Banksy. I did this artwork using Inkscape and it was inspired from Banksy's rat stencil masterpieces...

Actually, I have another mission for this bunnies artwork... hopefully, not a wall bomb a.k.a graffiti stencil coz I'm not into it... yet

KOSTEM Logo Design

KOSTEM stands for Koperasi Sumber Terbuka Malaysia Berhad which will be the first cooperative organization that supports open source movement in Malaysia. This is my first suggestion for KOSTEM logo:

The idea originates from Open Source logo which is green and look like a disc. I'm adding hands to that original open source logo which make it looks like human body with raised hands. The image of human with raised hands means freedom. Then, I align the logo to look like Malaysian official flower, The Hibiscus to put Malaysian sense to the logo. And finally, an open padlock in the middle which means, we are an open community.

After digging my old blog post, I decided to play around with halftones and screentones effect today.

All done using Inkscape and GIMP . This is why I like having this blog to keep my arts and resources. Because when I don't have any idea what to do, I can dig my old arts and search for my previous ideas. Heheh...

I'm trying to practice my drawing skill again today. So, I clean up my old wacom tablet and do a quick sketch of P.Ramlee being the 40 Thief's Leader in Ali Baba Bujang Lapok movies. It is an old school movies. But still, it is more popular than the latest movies.

I plug my wacom on my Ubuntu PC and draw this using GIMP. I found the background on my downloaded stocks and tweak it to this drawing so it looks grungy. Hope you like it

I'm thinking about changing this blog layout too... maybe later.
