Hello dear Friends! Welcome to another edition of scrapbooking with Penny Black inc. products. Today, I thought I would share two cards made with the truly magical slapstick/Cling stamp called In Paris.

I started by doing a wash of watercolors
J'ai commencé par réaliser un lavis à l'aquarelle

Then I inked up the slapstick/Cling stamp with Distress Markers
Ensuite, j'ai passé les feutres Distress sur la partie caoutchouc du tampon.

I sprayed some water and stamped
J'ai vaporisé un peu d'eau avant de tamponner

I made two versions of the same image
J'ai fait deux versions de la meme image

The last step is diluting some of the ink with a humid paint brush.
La dernière étape est de diluer l'encre à l'aide d'un pinceau humide.

The most fun we had was watching Loyola's Ramblers do so well in the NCAA.

Le Championnat de College Basket, le "March Madness", s'est avéré être un bel échappatoire à l'ambiance plutôt morose de l'actualité.

DH is a Loyola alumnus and got very excited!!

L'équipe de l'université de mon mari a crée la surprise en allant jusqu'en demie-finale!

Once again, I relied on Studio Calico for all the cards and embellishments. Thank You!

Hello dear Friends! Welcome to another edition of scrapbooking with Penny Black inc. products. I don't know about you but I dream of traveling to Japan one of these days to see the Sakura trees in blooms. It's not going to happen this year for me but thanks to Penny Black inc's new collection, we can craft away and make these cherished Cherry blossoms appear nonetheless. For today's cards, I've used: Cherry Blossom, a Sweet Day and You & Me.

I used watercolor paper and left the cut images in place to paint them.
J'ai utilisé du papier aquarelle pour les découpes et je les ai laissées en place pour les peindre.

I used touches of watercolor to paint them.
J'ai utilisé de l'aquarelle pour les peindre.

For the base of the cards I used a piece of kraft paper as well as a piece of solid white. I chose two green washi tapes.
J'ai utilisé une base kraft ainsi qu'une feuille blanche pour les cartes. J'ai aussi choisi deux washi tapes vertes.

Once the washi was in place, I stamped a sentiment at the bottom right of each card.
Une fois le washi en place, j'ai tamponné un message en bas à droite de chaque carte.

Hello dear Friends! Welcome to another edition of scrapbooking with Penny Black inc. products. Today, I thought I would share a card that combines two things I enjoy: scripts and blooms. I've used: Letter Background for the background and Blissful Blossoms on top.

Aujourd'hui, je vous propose une carte avec deux "coups de coeur": un fond de texte et des fleurs. Pour le fond, j'ai donc utilisé Letter Background qui n'est pas nouveau mais que j'aime toujours autant et Blissful Blossoms par-dessus, un des plus jolis tampons de la nouvelle collection à mon avis ;-)

I used watercolor paper, did a wash of watercolor and stamped the script background all over the surface. Then, I inked the stamp with Distress inks and markers. Sprayed some water directly on it and stamped over the printed background.
J'ai commencé par faire un lavis à l'aquarelle sur un morceau de papier aquarelle. Ensuite, j'ai tamponné toute la surface avec le tampon "écriture". J'ai encré le tampon fleurs avec des feutres et des encres Distress. Puis, j'ai vaporisé de l'eau et j'ai tamponné les fleurs sur le fond imprimé.

inked the stamp with "Walnut Stain"

mist the stamp lightly with water
vaporisé un peu d'eau sur le tampon

then with a wet brush, blend the ink inside the lines
puis avec un pinceau réservoir, j'ai mélangé l'encre à l'intérieur des lignes

use green ink on green paper and add some soft splatters to finish it off.
j'ai utilisé de l'encre verte pour la carte verte et ajouté quelques taches fines pour finir.

I cut the die-cut in a piece of black paper and used temporary adhesive to glue it on top of the white card so it would stay in place during the inking.
J'ai commencé par couper la découpe dans un morceau de papier noir. Ensuite je l'ai placée sur la carte blanche en utilisant de l'adhésif temporaire.

I used the same small cosmetic sponge for all the inks. These backgrounds can be done in any colors of course but I tend to prefer staying in the same family of hues.
J'ai utilisé la même éponge cosmétique pour toutes les encres. On peut décliner ce genre de fond dans toutes les couleurs bien sûr mais je préfère rester dans une même gamme.

For higher contrast, I added a black and white sentiment.

J'ai ajouté un message en noir et blanc pour créer un fort contraste avec le fond bleu-vert.

The last days of the year are often devoted to meeting up with dear Friends

Les derniers jours de l'année sont souvent l'occasion de se retrouver avec des amis chers.

After Dijon, we took a short drive to Besançon, the capital of Franche-Comté.

Après Dijon, nous avons pris la route pour Besançon, charmante ville que nous ne connaissions pas encore.

We had incredibly mild weather to ring in the new year and this allowed us to spend all day walking and sightseeing. Victor Hugo and the brothers Lumière were born in Besançon and the astronomic clock is well worth a visit.

Thank You for your interest with this project. I plan on continuing this type of documenting but recapped on a monthly basis.

Merci pour l'intérêt que vous portez à ce projet. Je continue l'aventure du PL mais en regroupant les moments forts de notre quotidien mensuellement.

I started by doing a wash of color on a piece of watercolor paper.
J'ai commencé par réaliser un lavis sur du papier aquarelle.

I cut the sentiments in the paper once it was dry.
Une fois le papier sec, j'ai coupé les formes.

I picked a piece of printed paper that would go well with each sentiment and distressed the edges of that paper for a more "finished look".
J'ai choisi un papier imprimé pour aller avec chaque découpe puis une fois collé sur la carte blanche, j'en ai limé les extrémités.

I think the large stamp Charlotte #40-551 is absolutely perfect with Birthday Love #30-413 to wish a Friend a very happy birthday. I've also used two creative dies: Pennants and Hearts Border.

Since I don't make pop-up cards that often, i like to make a mock version just to see that everything works well, dimension, the size of the slit...
Comme je ne fais pas souvent ce genre de cartes, je préfère commencer par un essai. Cela me permet de vérifier les dimensions, la taille du pliage etc...

Once I've got it, I can go ahead and prepare the main feature
Une fois que tout semble convenir, je prépare le sujet principal

I used black ink to stamp Charlotte and watercolor paint to color it.
ici, il s'agit de ce grand visage que j'ai aquarellé

These Micron pens are perfect to add details such as the eye-lashes
Les feutres Micron sont parfaits pour ajouter des détails. Ici, j'utilise un 005 pour dessiner les cils.

To make the base card, I chose a piece of patterned paper and folded it in two.
J'ai choisi un papier imprimé pour l'intérieur de la carte et je l'ai plié en deux.

Then I drew two lines in its center
Ensuite, j'ai tracé deux lignes parallèles au centre

and cut two slits (2 inches)

et j'ai coupé deux ouvertures

it is the mountain fold (see picture above) that props up when the card opens.
on plie le haut de cette ouverture et c'est ce pli qui "projète" le pop-up à l'ouverture de la carte.

Then I cut the background card, black in this case
Ensuite, j'ai coupé une autre carte noire cette fois-ci. C'est sur cette carte que l'on peut collé celle avec l'ouverture.

The card can be assembled by gluing the patterned paper on top of the black one.
I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment. I also distressed the edges using the color "Old Paper"

J'ai collé le visage ainsi que les autres éléments comme les fanions, la bordure et le message dont les bords ont été encrés avec la Distress Ink Old Paper.

I used some of the cards I had left form Ali Edwards' last year's kit.

J'ai utilisé des cartes du kit de Noel 2016 d'Ali Edwards.

We drove from Paris to Dijon on Dec 27th and I included a map of the town at the bottom (picture above)

J'ai inclus un morceau du plan de Dijon (photo en-haut)

This last page is about our first evening in Dijon where we had an incredible dinner. I still have quite a few pages to cover the end of our 52Th week.

Cette dernière page porte sur notre première soirée à Dijon . Nous avons fait ripaille à Loiseau des Ducs, une soirée inoubliable! J'ai encore plusieurs pages à finir pour illustrer cette fin d'année.

PROJECT LIFE 2017 || WEEKS 50 & 51

Hello dear Friends! I've been working on finishing my PL.

Bonjour chères Scropines! Je suis en train de finir mon PL2017.

The page up above is WEEK50. I accidentally discovered the wonderful American illustrator Charley Harper and had a go at a Cardinal on the newspaper.

La page ci-dessus porte sur la SEMAINE50. L'essai dessin en bas à gauche est à la façon Charley Harper, un artiste américain que j'ai découvert il y a peu et que j'apprécie énormément. Il était connu pour son réalisme minimalism et ses illustrations d'oiseaux et autres animaux.

Up above is the beginning of WEEK51. DD#1 had an Instant Pot for Christmas and has been cooking with it ever since. It is quite a revolutionary little machine really!

On commence la SEMAINE51 avec la photo ci-dessus et on peut voir Gabrielle et son Instant Pot. Je n'en ai pas vus en France ce qui est étonnant vu leur succès au Canada et aux Etats-Unis. J'étais un peu septique au premier abord mais on peut vraiment tout faire ou presque avec et cela en un temps record. Leur prix est assez raisonnable par rapport aux divers robots multifonction (environ une centaine de dollars pour la plus grande taille)
