Sam, Media and the Ink Machine

2018-11-23T21:56:00.003-07:00

Inked version of the Inktober sketch I showed a few weeks ago. Media and Sam are just too fun to draw.

See you soon guys! I'm outta here!

Changing it up! Goodbye Artslug, HELLO Sluglady Studios!

2018-11-14T23:45:00.004-07:00

Hey all. I needed a few more days to iron out my plan. What is the plan?

SLUG AT WORK RETURNS JANUARY 2019!!!

and...

ARTSLUG IS CLOSING! NEW SITE COMING SOON!!

Now that all the rush and bustle of Halloween done, It's time to jump back into what I was doing. Turning this into a business! I already mentioned that I'm moving my art over to a new, dedicated portfolio site: https://slugladystudio.com/. However, it is not ready yet, neither is the new website for Slug At Work: http://slugatworkcomic.com/

So for the next couple weeks, while I'm still posting here, I'll be finishing up the two sites. Once the new sites are finished, I'll keep Artslug online for a while, just to help direct people. After enough time has passed, I'm going to either close Artslug for good, or archive it. For Sluglady's Sketchlog, I'm going to go through past posts and clean things up, and then leave it as an archive for anyone that wants to see past reviews (since I'm not going to have a dedicated review site. Reviews are on the side.)

However, Sluglady's Studio is a portfolio site, I'm going to do any blog related stuff on Tumblr. Which might be surprising since I haven't used my art tumblr in ages.

Really what is comes down to is that I have TOO MANY SITES, for some very simple things. So having one dedicated portfolio site, and one blog will make things a lot easier to sort and to notify people through social media

Is there going to be a schedule? Well, for now, no. I'm going to update more regularly, however, in order to work on paying jobs, I'm can't really have a set schedule. Slug at work will have a set schedule, but I won't announce it yet.

Okay? Okay.

Here we go.

We head to Staten Island to investigate something fishy.

Also just realized that this episode showing Staten Island's 9/11 memorial, is being posted on Remembrance Day. I swear that was not on purpose but I'm happy with it.

2018-10-31T22:08:00.002-06:00

Happy Halloween everyone!

Wishing you a fun safe night!

Forget Inktober! Time for..."Inkvember?"

2018-10-31T02:49:00.001-06:00

Sooo, you may have noticed the lack of Inktober drawings. Well, to be honest? I put WAY too much on my plate. I said back in August that October is the most business time of year for me, but when October hit, I thought "Hey, I did it last year right?".

But there was just too much work this year. I'm exhausted. I have all 30 drawings sketched out, but none of them inked. So I'm gonna make a little edit.

Instead of rushing through the inking process (especially on paper that I've been having major bleeding issues with), I'm gonna post ALL of the sketches, inktober or not, that I've worked on this month! Then I'm gonna post the finished versions in November.

The post of those drawings will be on November 3rd! Why Nov 3rd? Because Halloween don't end just cause October does! And... holy plot device on a stick, I need some freakin sleep so I can draw straight.

What I WILL post tomorrow is a picture of me in my costume!

Now, there is also the issue of Slug at Work and what's going on with that, as well as a few other projects.

Well, I have plans, but nothing that I should state as solid until I get some decent shut-eye. Or without seeing my work schedule for November.

Inktober 2018 Day 7- Witchy Wild

2018-10-25T17:23:00.000-06:00

This is Wild Rose. And old fanfiction character that sometimes pops up around here. I've been playing around with her and her family's story. Hopefully, they stick around for a while.

Hey guys! I'm still playing catchup on Inktober. Remember a few months ago when I said that October is the busiest time of year at the store I work at? And that I wasn't going to be posting much, except what I had backlogged? Yeeeeeeah. Guess I'm just a glutton for punishment @_@

Inktober 2018 Day 6- I can't see :(

2018-10-18T13:06:00.003-06:00

For my birthday party in September, me and the family went to the local pool. As a kid, I had sensitive eyes that would sting under water, chlorine or otherwise. Not great since I want to shark dive one day. So for the first time in years, I opened my eyes in the water and realized that they don't sting anymore! Though I thought it was weird that everything was blurry.

It was two weeks before I remembered that I wear glasses

Inktober 2018 Day 5- Taco Cat

2018-10-15T20:57:00.000-06:00

So... I found an interesting hat while shopping. A friend made me try it on. This nightmare is the result.

Seriously. There IS such thing as so cute it's terrifying, guys.

Inktober 2018 Day 4- Siren Costume Sketch

2018-10-14T19:58:00.001-06:00

A quick sketch of my potential costume this year. I'm building a costume with a mermaid/siren costume. Since I don't actually fit most costumes, I've been buying bits and pieces from different stores. Now I just need to decide what pieces to use.

Inktober 2018 Day 3- Giant F***ING MOSQUITO

2018-10-14T13:06:00.000-06:00

Saw this guy on the bathroom wall.

I did not take it well.

Inktober 2018 Day 2: Shopping

2018-10-12T22:08:00.001-06:00

Soooo to prepare for Inktober, on day 2, I went shopping. For high-quality art supplies. Aaaaand I needed to get some stuff for my fish. Like a new filter, tank lids... and well, uh...

Needless to say, I was very broke by the end of it.

Sluglady Plays The Unavowed Ep 2- Bartender STAT BOOST!

Inktober 2018 Day 1- Neighbours Cat

2018-10-07T15:27:00.001-06:00

Edit: Heres a better quality of photo

Yo! Happy Thanksgiving! Yes, I'm doing Inktober! This year I'm doing a visual diary. So style and tools are open. I'm away from my scanner so here's a photo via phone. I'll post the update as soon as I can.

This is 'Mystery Cat', because I don't know her name. She's the neighbours' cat and she's super cute and friendly. If you sit outside, she comes to say hi and to get scratchys. And nothing is better than a friendly warm cat on my lap. It was a cold day so I brought a blanket.

I'll be posting multiple pics this week to catch up. I know this past month has me dead on my feet, so I have several days off this week to help me get back my sea legs.

Marcy & PB

2018-09-26T22:14:00.001-06:00

I will admit, after weeks off, and work exhausting every bone and muscle in my body, it`s been a wee bit hard to get back into the swing of things @_@. More stuff plus Unavowed later this week.

With Adventure Time finished, I felt like drawing my favorite OTP. This is actually the first time I tried the Adventure Time style. After a few sketches, I think I`ve got a better hang of it. Hopefully, so I can do some larger pieces of these cuties.

I hope the quality is okay, I had to use my phone because the scanner is down.

Blackwell Epiphany Titlecard

2018-09-11T21:01:00.001-06:00

Unlike Blackwell Deception, I kinda knew exactly what I wanted for Epiphany's title card. It was only after working on Deception that I decided I wanted something simple. Sometimes, simple is the best. And considering Epiphany is the last game in the series, I really wanted to communicate that this is an ending of a story, while also communicating the strength of Rosa and Joey's bond. Though the Blackwell series has many themes, the one that was always the most important to me was the bond Rosa and Joey share, literally and figuratively, and how it evolves, becoming stronger with each game. I've said it before and I'll say it again, no matter what games come out, or what kinda new console that comes out, the Blackwell series is a game I will always come back to.

So if you like point and click adventure games and stories about ghosts, life, death, and some witty, sometimes dark, humor, you need to give the Blackwell series a try! It does not disappoint!

If you want to watch the letsplay, check it out right here!

It`s almost September! You know what that means?

2018-08-24T15:29:00.002-06:00

It means I'm going to be working at my day job A LOT. So let's talk schedules.

First up, where have I been?

I've posted the Blackwell Epiphany lets play and the Blackwell Deception title card, but other then some posts I've made on Twitter, I've been very quiet. If you follow me on twitter, you already know that I was sick all of July and I LITERALLY couldn't stop coughing. To the point that I could NOT draw straight.

So what happened to August? Long story short, I came off of some of my normal medication at the start of July. And after a month, it finally kicked in and backfired. BADLY. I had very, VERY dangerous case of depression during the first part of the month. I know I sound so cheerful in the Blackwell epiphany videos, but keep in mind, that I recorded the footage for those before this mess started.

First up, I am OKAY. I don't want to get into specifics. But I'm back on my old medication, had a few tweaks to the doses of my other medication And after another two weeks, feel a lot more like myself. I've been making some changes to my life that will hopefully help me from getting... THAT BAD again.

Now that THATS out of the way--- I DO have things that I CAN post right now... but after rolling it over in my mind... I don't think I should post anything yet.

Going back to what I said about my day job, I work at a store where Halloween is the BIGGEST season of the year. Literally, we have been putting up Halloween merch in the store since the beginning of August, because as soon as September hits, the rush will start and I'm going to be working a LOT more hours. and have a lot less time to do some artwork or comics AND post it. Plus any reviews or lets plays I have planned.

So INSTEAD of being on another 2-month hiatus, and while I'm still healthy and have time, I'm using what's left of August to build a backlog. My plan is to keep building up the backlog so I can post new illustrations and comics and any other projects I have throughout the next two months.

I'll be posting a full schedule up in September.

Until then, this is the Sluglady, signing off!

Blackwell Deception Titlecard! At long last!!!

2018-08-19T20:33:00.000-06:00

DANG I am proud of this one!

This was the hardest titlecard for me. I went through a lot of different ideas for how I wanted it to look. I wanted to show different aspects and characters involved. We learn more about Joey and Rosa's past, and this game is where we really see a big leap in their relationship. BW: Conversion was very focused on Rosa trying to get Joey to trust her. This is the game where Joey has to earn HER trust.

It's also when we got the phone mechanic, hence the selfie.

Seriously tho--- the amount of time that passed before I could finish this piece was stupid. Short version-- for the longest time, I had no idea WHAT to do for this titlecard. I went through a lot of thumbnails and ideas. And then when I DID know what to do I had other more pressing matters... and my multiple colds. But it's FINISHED! Now on to Epiphany...

And, there is a lot of extras involved with this piece, so when I post the speed draw, it's going to have COMMENTARY! Just a little something different this time.
