The contact information is stored over 5 windows which can be accessed using the drop down menu in the top left of the window or using the shift key and the left and right arrow keys.

Each screen is fairly self explanatory, although the final window is unique (to my knowledge) in the type of software. By default ContaxCRM uses your local timezone information when writing data to the database. If you are running the Multi-User Edition and you have users located in different timezones then using the local timezone could cause confusion. In this scenario you have the option of using UTC (Zulu) time taken directly from the server. This means that data entries that are time stamped can actually make sense from a chronological perspective.

In addition, there is an option that can be set to produce the time and date information in the format required for ISO-8601. ...

The way it works is this; If you have a Contact selected in ContaxCRM and you select the ‘Calendar Entry’ option from the Actions Menu, or use the Shortcut Key, CMD-I, then the iCal Event Entry screen is opened. Possibly you have just finished entering the details of a conversation with a prospect into the ContaxCRM History and now you need to book a call for next week to remind you to contact this prospect again.

You can now fill in the details on the ICal Event Entry Window, you can select which Calendar to use from the Dropdown Menu, you can choose to set an Alarm and you can enter a Title and Notes. The URL and the Contact Details are automatically copied into this iCal Window for you, leaving you with less input required, yet a more informative Calendar event.

The reason is quite simple. From a customers perspective they can choose when to update based upon the features that have been added, they are not forced to update every time I upload a new version. For those customers however who are waiting for a particular feature they can have it immediately with no waiting around for a particular ‘scheduled update’.

From my point of view it allows me to do several weeks or months on a product and see the results of my work ‘out in the wild’ where customers and prospects can give me immediate feedback.

Another reason is, because I can. I think the fast development, immediate distribution model is where we need to be nowadays to stay relevant and current and to give our customers value for money. Each application has been updated so that when the program is run for the first time a default database is created, rather than the user having to create it manually.

In addition, when downloading an update a message is shown to the user explaining the procedure that should be followed.

Both of the above features are designed to make life easier for the user and to avoid any areas of potential confusion.

ooSooM has received a new, much asked for, feature. The addition of ’Tick Boxes’ against each Todo Item. To mark an item as Complete you can just click the box. An Archive feature will be added in a future release, that will take each ’ticked’ item and store them separately under an Archive heading.

There are many uses for this functionality. For example you can create an entry in the Vault titled ‘Website Marketing’. You can then enter text concerning website marketing and then drag and drop supporting documents and pictures that will then be moved and stored and accessed from within ooSooM.

To access this new functionality it is necessary to first go to the Preferences window (which for ease of use can now be accessed from the Toolbar as well as the Menu, another version 2.0.0 change), go to the Configuration tab and use the ‘Choose’ button to select the location for your Attachments. Once this is done you should restart ooSooM and then you can use the Attachment functionality. ...If you wish an entry in your Item or vault list to stand out you can now choose to Bold, Italic or Underline the entry.
