....these upcycled mini "junk" journals-smashbooks-scrapbooks-albums, whatever you would like to call them; I love 'em! I gave one away on Friday, and listed a few in my Etsy shop today. There are a couple Valentine's themed or love themed. They came out so cute! I love using new materials mixed with old, different textures and mediums.

a little scrapbook paper goes a long way

I just came across this picture I took at the beginning of the school year and thought I'd share. My 6th grader needed like 5 or 6 binders for the year. Binders are not cheap. Now I am not talking about the decorated "fancier" ones, I just mean the plain ole ones...not cheap! Soooo, we bought the least expensive ones in the size that was required, and with a little help from Mom's stash, my girlie went to school in style, lol! I think they came out great.
Quick and easy too...

Pick out pretty paper.
Cut to size.
Slide in front clear pocket.
Voila...
Pretty binders!

december daily album tips...

I did my first December Daily album in 2009 and had so much fun putting it together. However, I did run into a few things that I learned from for the following years. I thought I would share them with you. For those of you who are thinking of doing one...go for it! It will be treasured for years to come. Here are a few tips from my own experience:

-Don't feel like you have to take a picture for each day, it can be some journaling, or just a receipt or a recipe you used.

-Write your entries down as they happen then transfer to your album. Don't rely on your memory...I learned that the hard way!

-You can use 1 or 2 pages for each day or mix it up!

-Include some Christmas cards from friends and family. Esp. the photo ones, then you can see how everyone has grown and changed over the years.

-Have fun with it, don't make it a stressful thing, it doesn't have to be.

I love combining old findings with new. I took some paint sample cards I had and made this cute mini. Would make a great smash book, art journal, scrapbook or inspiration journal. Filled with different textures and colors, old things, new things; hand made and unique!

....and document it all! This assembled album has 40 pages and comes with all the embellies needed to make an awesome December Daily album.

This one sold within about 30 minutes of listing! I will be adding more to the shop soon. Remember, all of my albums are one of a kind, no mass kits. (I have nothing against mass kits-I happen to adore some of them! It's just not how I do mine.) So, once they're gone, they're gone:)

Graphic 45 has some awesome papers. If you haven't gotten your hands on them, you need to! I made this mini using their "Curtain Call" and "Steampunk Debutante" lines. Love love love it!!! It has an old hollywood feel to it. It would make a great art journal or scrapbook. For more info please go to my shop.

...I want your love. This is one of my favorite mini albums so far. It's completely made from scratch. Corrugated cardboard (recycled) is the back cover. Inside there are 30 pages plus journaling tags, a canvas tag, hand punched butterflies, vintage papers, new papers and more. I used a Punky Sprouts mixed media mini album- acrylic, chipboard, canvas and paper pages. Rub on "with all my heart", American Crafts glitter chipboard, hand punched butterfly.

Sassafras Lass papers

Canvas page spritzed with Glimmer Mist, hand stamped butterflies and rub on that reads, "Laughter".

I have been dying to use my new Punky Sprouts Album! So I used it to make this sweet little album highlighting some of our memories of 2010 so far. I painted, inked & sanded. I used handmade ribbon flowers I made earlier this year. Kept it simple and pretty. Can't wait to get the Rebel Sprout Album next. The one I used for this album, is the Alfalfa Sprout.
