Intelligence without ambition is like bird without wings

I’m here to voice my opinion about the famous Quote of

A Spanish painter Salvador Dalí, that is “intelligence without ambition is like bird without wings”. Respected president ,the creative mind of the painter has beautifully used a very apt Metaphor by comparing intelligence with bird and ambition with wings, to make us understand how futile is the use of language without any ambitious course.

First of all ,let us understand what Ambition actually means. Ambition is a strong desire to achieve something in life. It is a strong will-power and determination which can carry a person forward against all obstacles. Ambition is the first building block of success, a life goal developed through life to better one’s position in society. As Bill Bradley says and I quote,

“Ambition is the path to success. Persistence is the vehicle you arrive in.”(De quote)

A person without any ambition is like a boat without rudder. There’s no way he can reach the shore in spite of all his efforts and capabilities as he lacks the driving force needed to get him to his destiny. Different people have different ambitions. Some aim to become teachers, soldiers, artists, politicians, doctors, engineers etc. Some try to amass wealth and some run after the name and fame. There are others who aim to serve humanity. Whatever the ambition they hold, it makes them independent of circumstances. They move ahead facing all the odds and difficulties that hinder their progress. Obstacles in the way will not lead them astray.

Aspiring for great things in life is human tendency. The youth of today wants to scale the greater heights of success, if we dream for the stars, we will at least reach the moon. The greatest genius of the world can do nothing without that aspiration and will become as helpless and worthless as a bird whose wings have been cut down to cease his ability to soar in the sky as Marcus Aurelius quotes,

“A man's worth is no greater than the worth of his ambitions”

If there would have been no ambition then you would not have heard the names of Newton ,Einstein, Madam Curie, Dr.Abdul salam and Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan. All these great scientists of their era enjoyed the heights of success in their respective fields not only owing to their massive knowledge, and mental capabilities but mainly owing to their great aspirations and high goals which they’d set for themselves. Their strenuous efforts had been lead to their goals by their ambitious minds; otherwise purposeless efforts would have never been resulted in productivity.The same ambitious set of mind instilled the spirit of success in all great people, be they are scientists, revolutionists, artists or players as,

“Ambition is enthusiasm with a purpose”.

Why should we go far, just take a look on the seamless efforts of the Father of the Pakistani Nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, his undoubted genius was when coupled with his strong desire to get the Muslims of India, their separate homeland, all the world was astounded to see the miracle of emergence of Pakistan on the map of the world within a short period of time. He proved the words of Thomas Jafferson true, that

“Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal;”

There are many people in this world , specially the youth of underdeveloped countries ,whose IQ level is better than many known achievers of the society ,but they are nobody in the eyes of the society just because they lack right direction to channelize their intelligence and energy . they are actually aimless without any particular ambition to achieve and so their all talents are being wasted as they exists like birds without wings , who can never fly anywhere. One's motive is one's aim in life and a noble aim is the essence of life.

To sum up I would like to say that I’m in full consent with the quotation “ intelligence without ambition is like bird without wings” and I believes that Ambition is the guiding force which can make a man “Master of his own Destiny” .

There Is No Hope Of Doing Perfect Research (Griffiths, 1998, P97)

The term Research is a very common term we often listen and use. The word research is

derived from the French recherché, from recherché, to search closely where "chercher" means "to look for or to search”. Research can be defined as “the search for knowledge, or as any systematic investigation, with an open mind, to establish novel facts, usually using a scientific method” (Wikipedia), or it can be termed as “an Investigation intended to extend the limits of human knowledge.” (campuspol.chance.berkeley.edu/ GlossaryofTerms.doc). Over the last few decades research has become an indispensable part of Education and Scientific advancement but at the same time the question has been raised more strongly over the chances of its perfection as many believe that “ there is no hope for doing a perfect research” (Griffiths, 1998, P97). I completely agree with what Griffiths has said about research and I have got some supporting examples which I’m going to narrate here.

First of all we should look into the meaning of the word "Perfection", which stands
for something complete and flawless but to err is the human so no human can ever be flawless. The process of research is totally a scientific process comprised of the different stages through which a research worker or group has to undergo. A perfect research demands absolute precision and accuracy throughout the process which is almost impossible to attain as we can never do away with human errors.

These errors affect the liability of a research work on a large scale and make it doubtful or imperfect. There are several things playing a pivotal role in shaping the research work like :

 Systematic or Random Errors.
 Biases.
 Limited access to the subjects of Research.
 Inadequate time or facilities to gather information.

During my Graduation ,I’ve been a member of a student research group ,who had been assigned a topic that “The boys have very less interest in studies as compared to the girls”. The group included all the girls who subconsciously favored the statement and so they drove the research the way they wanted to by extracting information from mostly from women. This made our research biased.
Another such instance of an imperfect research was observed by me during my Post Graduate studies where I’d been studying Literature. As a final assignment the two groups of students were allocated with the task of finding out “whether American and English Literature has similarities between them regarding their themes and style or not.” By coincidence one of the groups came across such work in both literatures that had striking similarities in style and ideas, while the other came across the work which widely differed from each other in every way .As a result both of the groups came forward with conflicting results after their research work and both had quite strong evidences and examples to support their point making every one confused whether to rely on the work of one group or the other.

Hence it has become a crystal clear fact that Research is not a stale process but it is a continuous one, as every research gives way to another research which may prove the first one wrong. This quality of research has been a cause of many scientific innovations and new discoveries. Had a research work been accepted as a Perfect one there would not have been any growth in many fields like Science and education. During my graduation I had studied Genetics where I came across Gregor Mendel’s work who was considered as the Father of Genetics. Mendel's Second Law, which was result of his continuous research of several years, stated:

During the formation of sperm and egg, the segregation of alleles for

one gene is independent of the segregation of alleles for another gene.

This law was slightly more complex to demonstrate, requiring the

statistical analysis of offspring of plants that differed in two separate characteristics.

( Gregor Mendel, 1865 & 1866).

This law is believed to be the foundation of genetics and was believed to be totally correct in its entire disposition but later the result of the experiments of Thomas Hunt Morgan questioned its complete truth. In 1910, Thomas Hunt Morgan’s research in turn led to the idea of genetic linkage, which means that “when two genes are closely associated on the same chromosome, they do not assort independently”. (Morgan, 1911). Morgan's proposal was an early suggestion that “genes were real, physical objects that were located on chromosomes” (Robbins, 2000). Indeed, this knowledge of genetic linkage was critical to prove that genes were actual objects that could be inherited, undergo recombination, and be mapped to specific locations on chromosomes.

It is implied from the above given examples and research findings that there is no word like Perfection when we talk about a research work .These findings had convinced me to believe Griffith’s quote and I, myself is a strong supporter of the view that we can’t hope to come across a Perfect Research ever.

This device has been invented with the objective to make it easier for every doctor to get latest scanner available at his place for immediate diagnosis. Furthermore this device is so portable that a doctor can easily carry it in Hospital, private clinic or any other place where it is required. This device is specially useful in case of emergencies where it is almost impossible to fetch the patient to a laboratory to get his scans done.

Pen that Reduces Stress

The world is changing at a rapid speed and everyday we are coming up with new technologies and devices of which we can not even think few years back. In the coming future, more and more interactive products are going to come in the market. These products will be able to read between the lines what users are feeling and use that information in a smart way to reform or reconstruct their behavior. Miguel Bruns Alonso, an Industrial Design PhD student from the Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands, came up with an innovative and unthinkable idea of creating an anti-stress pen. Miguel Bruns Alonso has developed a pen which can measure the stress levels of the person using it, and can actually help to reduce that stress. In experiments, the heart rate of people who used the anti-stress pen fell by an average of five percent.According to the inventor, the prototype pen is able to spot short-term stress in a person that uses it and it does not stop here but it has a mechanism to reduce some of that stress. The device identifies stress when it is being fidgeted with. As soon as the anti-stress pen detects fidgeting, it gets the person to stop by its special sensitive electromagnetic mechanism.
According to Alonso, experiments performed in the course of his research indicated that people tend to play with their pens when they're tense – We all know that we tend to do so when we are bored, but perhaps boredom counts as a type of stress or tension too. The inventor has kept this idea in mind and has equipped his invention with motion sensors. These are used to identify nervous movement and when that happens, the built-in magnets create a counterweight effect, which makes it difficult for the user to move the pen. Once the nervous movements stop, so do the effects of the electromagnets. The user, by this means is rewarded for ceasing behavior that not only indicates but sometimes apparently worsens the mental stress.
When the pen was tested on human subjects, those receiving feedback through the device had an average heart rate five percent lower than those who received none. These study groups did not know that the pen was equipped with any kind of motion sensors and it was designed to provide feedback, and the group that did receive it didn't claim to feel any less stress than the control group.
The conclusion to be drawn from this is that products which seek to reduce short-term stress should, preferably, intervene directly to modify that behavior, rather than warning the user about their stress levels, for instance. This could allow products to reduce stress in an unobtrusive way.” At present this pen is a prototype and not yet available for purchase, but it could become more useful invention with the passage of time to make a person's life much better by reducing some percentage of his stress and tension.

The Operating Systems are about to enter their 4th generation with a revolutionary change ,as technology is lagging behind what consumers need. Conventional operating systems like Windows are woefully inadequate to support applications that span multiple devices let alone distribute tasks and data among those devices and with the cloud. Writing those types of applications also requires a break from the past. Microsoft’s current technologies are laying the groundwork for that break to occur. Midori is the code name for a managed code operating system being developed by Microsoft Research. Very little is known about Midori as it is still under development. Development started around 2006. It has been reported to be a possible commercial implementation of the Singularity operating system, a research project started in 2003 to build a highly-dependable operating system in which the kernel, device drivers, and applications are all written in managed code. With the Internet increasingly taking on the role of the PC operating system and the growing prevalence of virtualization technologies, there will be a day when the Microsoft Windows client OS will become obsolete making way for a completely new OS.Microsoft seems to be preparing for that day with an incubation project code-named Midori, -A new OS that will take advantage of technologies not available when Windows first was conceived. Till now it’s in a state of incubation as InfoWorld's Randall C. Kennedy says “ Midori is a pipe dream at best”.
Midori is an operating system which will rely entirely on the Web and will integrate better with all the possibilities offered by the Network. Midori, according to the intentions, would be based on a two-tier system of kernels: the first, a microkernel, will manage the hardware, how threads are managed a multi-core CPUs and all the administration part and management of resources and consumption. The second will be instead on the management of applications and operating system features. Official listed features are:

It will likely to give probably 10% better performance than Linux (significantly more on multi core) and 1/10th the security and reliability issues of the existing applications. It will also make maintaining or changing the operating system much cheaper and easier and reduce previous and future bloat by a significant margin ( due to a single large runtime/API) . Singularity is a new operating system being developed as a basis for more dependable system and application software. Singularity exploits advances in programming languages and tools to create an environment in which software is more likely to be built correctly, program behavior is easier to verify, and run-time failures can be contained. A key aspect of Singularity is an extension model based on Software-Isolated Processes (SIPs), which encapsulate pieces of an application or a system and provide information hiding, failure isolation, and strong interfaces.
So though there is no telling, at this point in time, where exactly Midori will end up but we might be seeing the end of Windows OS soon.

Fourth-Generation Communications System

The age we are living in, can undoubtedly be called as the Age of Information and Communication.The communication industry has become the fastest growing industry throughout the world and the need of transmitting all kind of data at the fastest possible speed has urged the technologist to strive for betterment and enhancement of system every day. Yesterday, the technology which we had found as the Latest one , today it's out dated and what we are using today would be obsolete tomorrow. One of the outcome of this fast pace development is Fourth Generation Technology.Fourth-Generation Communication System better known as 4G system can be described as the next generation of wireless networks or protocol that will replace the existing 3G networks in near future. The system features Fourth generation mobile communication technology, the concept could be called wide band (Broadband) access and distribution network, with non-symmetric over 2 Mb / s data transfer capability, including wide band wireless fixed access, broad band wireless LAN, mobile wide band systems and interoperability of broadcast networks (terrestrial and satellite based systems).
4-G system is not going to be introduced over night as it’s in its developmental stage yet. This system shouldn't be treated as something totally new or alien to the users as it has been a result of gradual progression of the previously and presently used communication systems. We can see a marvelous growth in mobile communication systems since the last two decades of 1900s.Digital services started replacing the analog ones. But need for efficient data Transfer had made the users unsatisfied with. The data rates worsen under certain conditions like bad weather or or in case of busy network so these disadvantages gave way to new technologies which have come into picture now. The first is 2.5G (GPRS) technology which allows data transfer at a faster rate than GSM . Further enhancements to GSM networks are provided by Enhanced Data rates for GSM Evolution (EDGE) technology providing up to three times the data capacity of GPRS .There after 3G (WCDMA/UMTS) technology has come into existence with the maximum data transfer rate of 2Mbps. But the 4th Generation system is ensuring a distinctively higher rate of data transfer, that would be ranging from 100 Mbps to 1Gbps .
Alvin Toffler has once said “ The future always comes too fast,.” This is evident from the evolution of communication system . The 4G technology will be able to support Interactive services like Video Conferencing, ultra-broadband Internet access, IP telephony, gaming services, and Wireless Internet. This system is also a step towards providing services a very less cost. This would be made possible by higher Bandwidth.
The networks will be all IP networks based on IPv6. Improved access technologies like OFDM and MC-CDMA (Multi Carrier CDMA) will likely to be used.
Another remarkable feature of 4G system is its security features which can make data transfer more reliable and safe. Security features will be much better to provide a comprehensive and secure all-IP based mobile broadband solution to smart phones, laptop computers,wireless modems and other mobile devices. More efficient algorithms at the Physical layer will reduce the Inter-channel Interference and Co-channel Interference.
The 4G system's objectives include its latent applications and system requirements, technical challenges, and related standardization activities. It has been revealed that the major capability of the 4G system should be its ultra high speed and IP packet transmission with reduced delay to meet a variety of requirements derived from the two-way enhanced reality communications such as 3D-audio, 3D-video, and biological information media world .We can say that the day is not far away when every existing communication system will be wiped away by the 4G Communication System.

The Dog Arthritis-An Overview

When we hear the word Osteoarthritis, we immediately think of a very painful condition where the movements of limbs become almost impossible. The disease is as painful in Humans as in Canines like Dogs. There are different conditions for Arthritis:
1- The cause of canine arthritis in most cases is the simple wear and tear of bones and joints.
2- The flux of the joints is a condition which arises when ligaments break or sprained. If this happens, the ligaments no longer can accommodate the joints properly which allows the joints to move outside their borders.
3- Another condition is the joint's failure to fit together.It's is a type of condition which is called joint incongruity, which results from a scarred cartilage caused when a bone gets fractured, a malformed cartilage, fusion of the bones are not combined properly, or the knee caps not staying in their normal place.
Usually all of the above mentioned conditions arise from the Aging process, but aging is not the only cause of a dog's Arthritis as it can start at a place of previous injury too .
The severity of the problem becomes a constant source of agony for a dog as well as its owner for whom it's a terrible sight to see his favorite pet limping around or screaming with pain. Usually untreated Arthritis leads to the worst condition where a dog is bound just to lie down all the time. so different therapies accompanied with a proper treatment from an authorized vet is the first and the foremost need to encounter this problem. There are many ways we can help a poor dog suffering from Arthritis, some of hem are given here:

1. Glucosamine –Therapy include oral supplements that contain glucosamine (sulphate or hcl. It may also include the,Adequan or Cartrophen injections. These supplements protect the joints rather than curing the symptoms only and their dosage and effectiveness differ from one dog to another. so they should be used experimentally to observe the results and to decide about their continuation or discontinuation.
2. Diet should be adjusted to reduce the amount of grains & carbohydrates diet & increase the amount of protein. The fresh food always gives good results as compared to the canned food. Diet should be adjusted in such a way that it can help to keep the weight of dog low. As a lean dog suffers less than a bulky one.

3. Pain Relief medicines are a must for relieving a dog from pain.

4. Fish Oil is a very good nutrient or supplement for a dog suffering from severe Arthritis due to the presence of Omega-3 Fatty Acids.

5. Alternative Therapies can also be used like Herbal medication, Homeopathy or Acupuncture etc. though sometimes it has no benefit at all, but at other times or in other cases it may be helpful for lots of canines.

Prevention is one of the kindest and most effective measures to take. Keeping your dog in shape through regular exercise and proper nutrition for optimal health is our best defensive mechanism against the terrible disease of the Dog's Arthritis.

“To Live Is To Change”

How true are the words of Greek philosopher Heraclitus, “To Live is to Change”. Change –Apparently a very small word contains within it a bulk of definitions. Change may occur within the Physical realm where we can see it substantially or it may occur within non-physical realm where we can only feel it or sometime we remain totally oblivious of its occurring. Nevertheless change is consistently and continuously occurring in our lives as well as around us, as it is said:

“All things …are in a Flux like a river.”

How important Change is, in our lives? This question can be answered just by realizing the fact that change, in some way or other, is related to the process of growth. We can observe the growth of a helpless infant into a strong person. Every stage of this growth from infancy to childhood and from childhood to youth brings about a lot of physical, psychological, and emotional changes in his life. Without these changes taking place at a proper time, he would have been developed into a retarded and abnormal person. That defines the significance of change as:

“Change is the Law of Life” (J.F.Kennedy).

When we look around us we find that not only the world and our self but the whole universe is a manifestation of Change. The continuous movement of stars and planets, the ever-changing seasons and the hide and seek of the day , the night, the beating of Heart , the coming and exiting Breath and the continuously flowing blood all of them are accompanied with several changes and symbolize “Life” . As soon as these signs of life will cease to exist, life would be finished .The history of World depicts so many change like the throning and dethroning of the mighty kings, the rise and the fall of great nations , the Revolutions and the Catastrophes changing the face of the world represent the same phenomena of consistency of change. All these signs and symbols force us to believe that if anything in this world has the permanence and consistency then it’s only “The Change”.
