More fun with red cardstock and gel markers. I think I like gel markers even more than gel pens. It's actually neat to see them make an almost transparent line at first and then watch it slowly become opaque.

Junk mail has it's uses. :)

Oh, and just bcause a glue says it won't wrinkle paper doesn't make it so. It even made my tag board buckle, so I had to switch to a glue stick.

The previous cards were all made on relatively thick drawing paper, but a few weeks ago I splurged on some nice cardstock. Some of the colors were rather dark, so I thought I'd try out some Crayola Gel Markers. As you can see, they work pretty well. Expect more cardstock in the near future.

I made these rectangular shapes by using the base of a toy that came free inside a tube of bubble bath.

You see? ANYTHING can be turned into art.

Sometimes when I work on an ATC I spend forever trying to get a single card to look just perfect.

... other times, I do my best to complete it in half a minute or less.

While I do enjoy painting in the more traditional sense, I also like to experiment a bit every now and then. This card is my favorite out of a series where I used a palette knife to scrape the paint onto the paper. I could probably have gotten the same effect using a brush, but I felt the aesthetic quality of using a palette knife to be more enjoyable than using a stick with bristles.

Sometimes, the act of creating art is more important than the finished piece.

I like gesture drawings - they're quick and simple like stick figures (this card took less than a minute to draw), but do a much better job of conveying a person's form.

Also, if I had a giant paintbrush I would use it every day.

... and so we begin. I'll use all kinds of supplies for my ATCs, but when I use paint I'll often start with a larger paper. Once it's dry I'll cut it down into multiple cards.

This card, for example, is my favorite out of a series of 8. I won't bore you by posting the other seven. Even though each card is different, they're all very similar.

This is meant to be a repository of my favorite Artist Trading Cards.

ATCs are meant to be given away, so it's a little heartbreaking when it's time to pass my favorites on to somebody else. By storing them in a digital format I can keep a record of what I've done and still give them away freely.
