DIY Inspirations - Room Make over

My parents and I have been talking about fixing up my room, expanding it, repainting etc. It gave me an idea to start looking for "pegs" or inspirations on how I want my room to look like. As much as I try to fix it up, it always ends in chaos, I need and crave for space that I can call my own, and maybe redecorating it would be the best case possible :)

I have a lot of plans for my room ever since I occupied it, I wanted it to have off - white colored cabinets, cream colored bed sheets and maybe even a canopy above my bed, but because of well lack of my own funds, I didn't get to design and decorate my room the way I envisioned it, I make use of everything I have, and decorate it the prettiest way possible.

Now that I have sort of a go signal from my parents that my room will be redecorated, I have a few tricks up my sleeves, so here are some inspiring deco's that I got from Pinterest and Tumblr, and the mood board that I made in Polyvore. I want a "Bohemian Chic/ Magic yet Romantic" inspired room, so I hope this post will help all those who want to do some redecorating in their own little spaces :)

MY MOOD BOARD

Mood Board's is an essential, it helps you be organized and it lets you keep track in what you want to create, may it be an art project, a simple redecoration or even a whole "Fashion Collection". Not only can it be used in art, but in so many things as well, so If your planning on doing something better get yourself a mood board to set everything.

My mood board consists of everything that inspires me, My palette are all in pastels and neutral colors, I consider these colors as calm and collective, I've been practicing a lot of yoga lately, and it changed my very perspective in life, I want the room to look bright and enticing, at the same time quite romantic. As you can see I chose "Nude", "Periwinkle", "Baby Pink", "Lavender" and "Lemon Yellow". These colors is what's setting the style of the room straight. I want my room to be "Bohemian" inspired with a little feminine twist.

The boho look, has always been my go to inspiration, I love how it has a sense of freedom and sophistication. When people go in my room I want them to feel relaxed, and I want them to feel at home, and that's what I am most aiming for.

Very feminine with the edgy twist I'm talking about, I personally love the whole "vintage - boho" vibe, and that is what I want to incorporate with the look of my room. I love elements and the colors that was used here, simple baby blues and rose pink, its both grown up and at the same time youthful as well.

My Sister and I had a few ideas about the room as well, we opted to remove all the closets and make the room as our very own walk - in closet with beds. It will save a lot of space and give the room time to breathe plus its easier to clean! The beauty of this look is that your whole room is a make - shift walk - in closet, you wont have a hard time finding your stuff and ever reorganizing it because its all there :D

On this design, I was still incorporating the "Walk - In" closet room look, I used simoke colors and a few elements to complete the vintage chic vibe. I personally like clean bright spaces such as white, pastels and etc. I find it rather more beautiful than any striking color.

Girly chic, is what I like to call this look. I was inspired with the beauty of the color, and that's what made me think of this design heehee :) I love designing rooms using polyvore, because it gives me an in-depth design on how I want it to look, with all the various brands and things that are in polyvore, my imagination just runs wild and starts creating something :)

INSPO -PICS

Here are some images that gave me a lot of inspiration, its a whole random column of pictures that I think are super pretty, hope these images get you inspired as well.

I love Christmas decors, I love Christmas ornaments and the like, they're so beautiful and very creative, just like this DIY snowglobes, it reminds me of fairies and magic and thats what I love about it the most, simple elements such as these give a lot of light and beauty into a room.

Ballet - I love everything about Ballet, its beautiful, its magical and its romantic. The tutu's the ballet shoes its just a classic girl thing. I mean who doesn't like the ballet? well maybe other people don't but I'm quite a typical girl when it comes to pretty things, Ballet and Ballerina's draw me so much, I find them very elegant and even stylish. I have not taken any Ballet lessons, but It was indeed my frustration, I wanted to become a Ballerina when I was young, but we didn't have the time and resources then, but my affinity with ballet never stopped.

Vial's intrigue me deeply, I love its whimsical mysteriousness. I am quite a different "girl" perse' I love Vampires and the Victorian era, and vials and just about anything that involves them immediately reminds me of something gothic, the art and persona of Vial's jolts my curiosity into a different level.

Carousels are indeed magical, the ornaments the beautiful embellishments and the craft on how it was made. Carousels make me feel like it takes me to different places where only dreams can lead you there.

Carnival's, Circuses and the lights give an electric jolt that boosts up to 2000 volts in my cranium. Its kind of a creative explosion in my head, and I just cant stop my imagination running wild, maybe I was part of a circus in my past life or something, I just love its wild bohemian beauty.

Anything and everything about Alice in Wonderland. Who doesn't love the macabre and beauty of Wonderland? Lewis Carroll's imaginative novel is a name all on its own, every adaptation was a perfect rendition of the books.

I love Tarot Cards, I like looking at them and knowing each and every meaning of a particular deck, don't get me wrong though I have no proper clue how to read them. I would like to someday but I don't think I have the calling for it. I just love its pretty designs haha :)

I consider myself an old soul, I like things from the past, as an artist it gives me a lot to think about, and it gives me a lot of creative juices that just explodes when I work on something, the past has a lot of history, and it has a lot of beauty, that's what I love about it the most. Maybe I was born in that era, or maybe I'm just a hippie, but for what it's worth Its who I am, and I love it about myself.

So here are some of the things that inspired me to create my mood board, and how I'd like my room to look. I hope it was helpful to those who wanted a little bit of inspiration for their very own spaces.

Singapore Trip 2012 Part 3 (late post)

Ok Ok this is a very very late post but I kinda forgot to continue my travel series for Singapore. As you all know, SG is practically my home away from home, I could never get tired of this wonderful country, maybe its the exquisite lifestyle or maybe its the country itself that draws me. A couple of my High- school friends work in SG and I hope that someday I'd be able to join them as well :)

Anyways, Ill be going to SG once June comes, its one of our yearly family vacations and I can't wait to go shopping and visit my friends :)

The best thing about these bad-boys is its dual purpose, it's a fan and at the same time you can spray mist for your cooling satisfaction :D

Aztec yellow on a Carribean Day

I was recently invited to a sweet blogger event and I was fortunate enough to be a part of it all. It was the launch of Caribbean footwear's "Urban Safari Collection", I had such a blast and met some pretty cool people as well :)

I wanted to wear something that suits "Urban Safari" but at the same time I wanted to look sexy yet sophisticated. Let's not forget girls! we always have to look elegant never trashy nor drabby no matter what we wear!

I opted for a few key pieces to get the look of "Urban Safari", my black and white aztec skirt, my bee colored top and my brick orange jacket suited well to get all the sexiness but not trying too much.

My whole outfit and poses was inspired by Kristen Stewart, she always looked so edgy and gorgeous on the red carpet. Ok let's face it she does have a lot of mishaps but then again we have to admit she does rock it whenever she dresses up am I right?

Lets not forget the Make - Up! it is essential for a woman to look her best in events, may it be a day or night occasion!In my make - up I opted for a simple day look, fresh sweet and yet sultry, I focused more on my eyes by using browns and bronzes plus lots of mascara helped for that smoldering appeal!

So does my outfit suit Urban Safari? hope it does :D When dressing up I love to complete my look with the whole outfit plus make - up to make everything coordinated after all its better to have it all going rather than something is missing right?

I had such fun that day and I got free Caribbean Footwear slippers for participating in the event :)

I couldn't really grasp what America wore to the date, but I assumed it was something simple yet elegant, since America was described as sweet and compassionate I opted to keep America in pastels instead of the vibrant colors that the other girls wear. She always did say that Prince Maxon was not her priority, and that being a royal was not in her very best interests. So I posed her as a little bit reluctant.

All smiles this summer night

Beating the heat is an excruciating task, so what's a girl to do in this hot summer night? well of course to dress accordingly with the weather!

My family and I decided to have dinner at "iHop" the fort on this particular night, we wanted to have a night out with our cousins, and mostly to keep the air - condition at home on the down - low, unfortunately iHop didn't fare us so well, we were down by 49 more people and they were serving at 10, yikes! So we hopped on to Pancake House instead, where - in BACON fell on my hair, it just wasn't my day! but nonetheless I kept mum and smiled my way out of bad luck :)

We love going out and walking our dogs at the fort, after that a little time to relax at my most favorite Fully Booked ever, hehe :) Starbucks and white hat in the building included!

Book Highlights - "The Selection" by Kiera Cass+ America Singer's style part 1

Synopsis:

Selection is a Dystopian Era themed book, it centers with America Singer, the protagonist of the story, an outspoken young woman from caste 5 in the country of Illea', the former United States of America. America Singer has the opportunity to become the new Queen of Illea, if only luck is within her. The Monarchy of Illea is seeking a wife for Prince Maxon, and in order to do so, 35 young girls will be selected and win the competition of a lifetime.

Reaction:

I expected a lot more from this book, I was fairly disappointed of the outcome. It was peaking to its potential but failed miserably, I was anticipating action and maybe thrills, but then again maybe the author didn't want to her book to appear as another "Hunger Games" For me this book was a little bit more of a fairy tale rather than dystopian, I loved Kiera Cass's writing style, there was a lot of art within, it didn't serve as too abrupt nor too melodic. I can't be too sure about the whole series so I'll get to know on the next book if this series will be worthwhile, but as of now I'm not getting into the hype, but! there's a but! I was enamored and excited about the love story between America and Prince Maxon, it was a little out of the ordinary, and I hated the fact that Aspen was still in the ropes when it comes to America's heart, so I'll be waiting for the next book.

The Characters were quite promising, especially America, I liked how she was a woman with appeal and attitude, she knew what she wanted and didn't back down from her goal. I loved how she was a simple girl, who knew her roots and didn't change for her benefit, she was quite and inspiring character. Truth be told, I imagined her as somewhat like Scarlett O' Connor from Nashville, sweet, caring, a little vulnerable but a force to be reckoned with.

America auditions for "The Selection" wearing only what her family can provide. Being part of a low Caste, America is described to be wearing plain clothes that suits for her caste, but her beauty and charm is what stands out and makes her a contender for the selection.

The Girls move to the Palace

I imagined America keeping her simplicity and class whilst about to become one of the most sought after contestants of the selection, the book described her style as simple yet stunning so I kept all the colors neutral. Maxi skirts are feminine, they embody the grace and beauty of a woman's curves, they show the romanticism in its flowing fabrics and cut. I personally don't normally wear long skirts because truth be told maxi - skirts don't really agree with me :D let's face it, I'm quite petite and petite girls don't have a very good relationship with maxi - skirts, but then again, its how you style it right?

I styled my chiffon maxi skirt a little bit out of the ordinary, .t was in a high low cut from the inside and flowing chiffon at the outside, basically tt was very feminine, so I told myself why not spunk it up a little? I'm not so girly myself anyway.

I wore my electric blue zipped up top from Kids of Bayo to give my outfit a little more eclectic appeal, it was a good contrast to the femininity of my skirt.

I couldn't bring myself to wear heels on this on this skirt since it was quite sheer already, plus I love the mix of sneakers and long skirts, it was a different appeal to style.

my outfit couldn't be more "out of the ordinary"

Specspost.co.uk gave me the opportunity to review their product, I had a choice if I wanted it done with prescription or not. I picked the geekiest and cutest glasses I found in their site, it was called "New Girl" glasses,for it was a replica of "Zooey Deschanel's pair from her show "New Girl". The moment I got it on post I immediately wore it to see if it fit me the way I imagined it, and as expected, the glasses fit me like a glove :) Much love to Specspost for this!! thank you so much! :)

Even if I am petite, I think my skirt fitted me well enough not to shorten me, its all in the attitude as we always say.

I wear glasses and I can't hide the fact that I'm terrified of contact lenses, so I prefer to wear these bad boys anyway I can, I don't act as if they're a burden to me, but I style with them instead, so kudos to all of us girls who are challenged in sight :)

Casual Glamour

The Style & Design Academy party requires for people to absolutely be oh so fashionable, well they didn't say that perse' but its a fashion school what would you expect? hehe. I didn't have time to get ready for the party since I had school as well, so what I did was grab a couple of clothes I styled up the night before and asked my friends what I shall wear for the night. I modeled about 3 outfits for my good friend Roan and Jonna, and voila! they chose my heather gray draped dress and heather gray jacket to wear for the night.

It was a simple yet glamorous look, I opted to tone the dress down a little by wearing a soft jean jacket on top. I teased my hair and put a little bit of make up and pink lips, I was supposed to go for red but then I decided it was going to be a bit too much, plus Ill look older, I chose to highlight the dress and the shoes to go for that "Casual Glamour"

When we got to the party, we noticed that each and everyone of us were the rainbow from a sea of black clothing, everyone was wearing black everything! I guess we didnt get the memo! haha

You can look glamorous without over doing it! its not about how much accessories you put, but its how you bring it to the table/ The best and first thing you should always remember is be "comfortable" with what you're wearing, never ever wear something that you will either regret or have a hard time walking!

I have known John and Paul for a very long time, they have been my teachers from FIP in Ortigas about 3yrs ago and the best thing about these two is that they value each and every student they ever have, John and Paul encourages their students to do what they love to do, may you be a dunce at designing and pattern making, they're always there to help you.

John and Paul created our Entourage dresses for my ate's wedding, John created ate's gown and I collaborated with Paul and ate for the design of the bridesmaids dresses. Both designers do not push their ideas, they create masterpieces to your desire.

Another great thing about them is that they aim to inspire people not for you to envy them.

Ever since I was a little girl wearing boots were my thing. My mom would always buy me boots of all heights and styles, I would usually wear them under my OBMC casa uniforms instead of black mary - janes, yep i was a rebel. Up until now as an adult boots are still my favorite type of footwear.

What I love about wearing boots is that they're very versatile, just throw them in a pair of jeans or even a dress you got yourself a styled up ensemble. It doesn't try hard nor does it show too much, its just right. even in a simple shirt and shorts boots can make your outfit from "Drab to Fab"

although I have to say it is in the style of your boots that would "make" your outfit, be sure that its the right fit for your personality and your height as well, just like me as a petite woman, I can't wear the ankle boots without heels, it will make my legs look super short and I would look stunted, so I would wear mid - calf boots when it come's to flats.

New Year, and another 11 mos to look forward to, as we all know as a woman your purse is an essential, let's face it sometimes we put more stuff that we don't really need, but bit by bit we start sorting them out especially when the new year arrives, so here I am showing you guys my purse and what's in it this 2013!

I love medium to large sized bags, I could never carry a small one, except on formal occasions which requires me to carry a clutch but nonetheless, I was never the small bag type of girl, I carry so much things, that sometimes my big sis gets mad at me for bringing a heavy bag. So here is my ultra packed tote :D

1. My Blackberry, I never ever ever leave home without it, its my extra hand. I mean who leaves their phones right? its an essential, especially for on the go type of people.

2.My glasses are very important I have a really bad astigmatism and if I dont bring my glasses I'll end up with a headache + poor eyesight.

My starbucks planner, I'm a very forgetful person so I have to have my agenda book all the time, because every little detail matters. I write down notes, quotes and my ideas for my next blog post and such.

A book, I'm quite a bookworm, ever since I was a kid I've been obsessed with books, I grew up reading almost everything I could remember, I'ts part of my leisure time as well as painting. Whenever I go out I never forget to carry around the current book I'm reading.

My vanity kit, its an essential as a woman to have this around her purse, it carries my make up, perfume and of course the personal something for ladies.

1. Lotion - My skin is super sensitive and it easily dries, so every time I leave the house I never forget to carry around my lotion

2. Hand Sanitizer - I'm quite a germophobe and I spray it around like wildfire.

3. Baby wipes - Instead of carrying a tissue roll around and other tissue papers easily breaks I bring baby wipes instead. I love this Hello Kitty brand, it doesn't dry up my skin, before I stick to a certain brand of wet wipes I try out their texture first and if its grainy or prickly.. I say au revoir to it! haha :)

1. Eco bag - I hate plastics and its really hard to carry around paper bags, I bring around an eco bag fo I would just shove all my purchases inside, well not really shove but you know put it inside. Its helpful to the environment and helpful to myself as well :)

2. My Wallet - Who leaves home without it?

3. Band aid- I need to carry a band aid with me all the time, I'm quite a klutz so band - aids have become a necessity.

Isobel was a cheerleader, Varen Nethers is a Goth. In terms of clique's they are very different people, and in terms of being together, well that's just social suicide.

Isobel just had the worst nightmare ever, she was partnered with Varen Nethers "the goth" for her English project, Varen is not sociable nor is he very nice, everyone knows that he could be somewhat a freak, and maybe he even drinks blood for a living. Isobel couldn't believe that this was happening to her. Her friends condemned her just for being in the project with him.

Varen's obsession with Edgar Allan Poe lead them to their main topic for the project, the more she knew Varen, the more Isobel began to be interested in him, he wasn't as dark and terrible as everyone see's him and next thing Isobel knew she was trapped in Varen's world, she see's things and dreams about the mysterious cloaked man named Reynolds whom warns her that Varen is in trouble. Now its up to Isobel to save Varen and their love.

I have never read a book like this, it was just amazing. The whole "A living Nightmare" definitely applies with Nevermore. It was fresh from all the dystopian and vampire genre's coming around. Kelly Creagh's was so creative, she created a whole world inspired by Edgar Allan Poe, her protagonist was not even the wallflower type but instead a cheerleader, a girl everyone loves to hate. All in the same her Hero was not the typical hero as well, everyone knows goth's are interesting but to be frank were quite scared to approach them.

I liked her writing style although its not astonishing, but Kelly Creagh was close enough. The heroine was not the "damsel in distress" anti - heroine type so it kept me interested, there were no dull moments, well except for the "too much" details on what she's wearing doing and such, I would prefer if she kept those in a minimum because everything about the book was quite swell, reading through a bunch of details could definitely get boring.

I love the mystery of their troubled relationship,. The idea of dreams and reality in one was what kept me going. There was drama, there was action and a lot of love, plus I am quite a big fan of Edgar Allan Poe, I'm not going to every detail on how he came around but he's there all right. Ill leave all the suspense to you guys, hopefully you'd like this book as well.

So 2013 came, la dee daa surprise surprise preppers.The Mayan's 2012 doomsday calendar wasn't accurate after all, I have to say that whole doomsday thing last winter's solstice was pretty far fetched. I didn't see the point of actually meeting my last goodbye, there is so much to live for in life, why would you let a little scare stop you from living? so If another "End of the World" scare comes again lets just say whatever to it shall we?

Happy Happy New Year to Everyone!!! How was the celebrations so far? Every year each and every person in the world creates a resolution to live by the whole year, I for one tend to create an out of this world type of list to the point that it becomes redunkulus to follow.

I have to admit, I still have a hard time finding the right outfit that could be "fashionista" and at the same time I'll be comfortable as well, so as much as possible I keep it to a minimum, I don't want to walk around fitting myself comfortably on high heeled shoes, because that is suicide. Especially for me since I wear glasses for both style and vision.

I'm the epitome of Geek, I wear glasses (I even used to have braces), I'm awkward, I read a lot and I have an obsession with Middle Earth.
