Jimy Sloan - Canada

Jimy Sloan is from Sackville, Nova Scotia and graduated from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in May 2012 with a BFA, Fine Arts Major in Painting. His canvases reference aspects of his environment. Imagery from photographs, magazines, newspapers, public archives and the internet is combined and used to create overlaid and interwoven painted images. These paintings become a way to create non-verbal stories which relate places, events, characters and objects. They are an attempt to create images in motion; an idea which is informed by painting, video and aural traditions.

Dana Malcolm - United States

I’m a native of eastern Massachusetts and an avid explorer of the New England landscape. As a teen, I discovered art books devoted to 18th and 19th century landscapes. The paintings portrayed revealed a depth and realism that fascinated me, and I often imagined stepping into them. In High School, I was privileged to learn the classical painting techniques of the Boston School and was awarded a scholarship for my senior portfolio. In the early 1980’s, I attended college at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.

Currently my artwork is focused on scenes of the Atlantic coast, either with or without the figure. I’m enthralled by the space, the light, and especially the constant transformation that occurs at the shoreline. My oil paintings make permanent the intimate or exceptional moments that so rapidly disappear. With a desire to bring the scene to life, I often paint life-size images that are up close and personal. The mood of my artwork captures the essence of my experience with a unique and original perspective that combines traditional realism with elements of abstraction.

Affiliations include the American Society of Marine Artists, the Oil Painters of America, North River Arts Society, Plymouth Guild Inc. and the South Shore Art Association. Recent artwork has been exhibited in juried shows at the Art Complex Museum in Duxbury, the Bancroft Gallery in Cohasset, the Russell Gallery in Plymouth, the G.A.R Hall in Marshfield and Front Street Gallery in Scituate. My paintings are in numerous collections throughout the country and artwork has been published in South Shore Magazine.

I like to paint and I like to paint fast, alla prima, to express as much as possible in each burst, the emotions behind a particular painting set in as the paint dries and with every revisit it loses a bit more of its living human elements and stagnates.
Through my medium I try reflect on my observations of people, culture, society and the interactions between the. I have always had a fascination with the complex subtleties in shape and colour the human face uses for communication and emotional reaction. Our faces tell others everything we think and feel and the idea of capturing that moment of thought and emotion, giving me time to understand the physical and mental patterns that make us such great thinkers and communicators.

Roseann Janzen - Canada

Mixed medium, oil and acrylic on canvas and board, encaustic, metals, and occasionally found objects are the materials I use to present my real and abstracted perception of the world around me. All work is done by me in my studio on an acreage near Edmonton, Alberta, surrounded by the beauty of this world. Nature has always been the starting point, the basis, and grounding of my work. Occasionally I collaborate with other artists who work in different, complementary mediums. In this case different parts are done by each of us and then combined to produce the finished piece.

Roseann Janzen is a Canadian landscape, encaustic, mountain, and abstract artist residing near Edmonton, Alberta.
-- Delivered by Feed43 service

Deus Sex Machina is an ongoing art project (started in August 2011) on the metastatic effect of power throughout human history. My hypothesis is that behind the need to hold and preserve power lays mainly the deviant sexual behavior. I call deviant sexual behavior any manifestation of an individual who is to satisfy his sexual needs at any cost, without regard to the will and consent of the other individuals involved. In this series of ink drawings, which ultimately will result in a frieze of 27 works, I will try to illustrate the transformation of a species that in its beginning flourished in communities, sharing goods and emotions, living in harmony with nature and its own conscience, into a disunited species composed of alienated individuals that feed on the needs induced by the few who have the power. The scenes flow chronologically, starting with the primitive man, go through the events of European history (those that I consider relevant to my thesis), to finally reach the globalized present.

Claudine Péronne - United Kingdom

I am a French artist based in Worthing, West Sussex.

I draw the inner life - the invisible world of dreams, feelings and inner experiences. Some of my images come to me in dreams and others appear in waking life. My artwork is about inner listening and perceiving and giving form to fleeting images which seem to belong to the life of a mysterious, invisible reality which I cannot express with ordinary language. My art images tell the story of my inner journey and for me form a bridge between the inner world and the outer world.

I use watercolour pencils, soft pastels and ink to give form to the ‘unseen‘ and occasionally clay. More recently I have felt drawn to using shells and small pebbles as media for my art.

My painted shells and some of my small framed pictures are displayed at the Shoreham Gallery all year round. I regularly take part in local exhibitions and arts events.

Images of the soul journey: art on shells, drawings and clay sculptures. Mystical, sensual and romantic, Claudine's art is a collection of painted shells & pebbles, pastel pictures and small clay sculptures. Browse or buy unique and unusual artwork.
-- Delivered by Feed43 service
