What a beautiful and inspirational Place Paleokastritsa Corfu is. Great place for Artists. Just a few things you need to be aware of!!

It is a very Mountainous region with difficult places for a coach or even a car would find it difficult to get to your hotel. So no matter were you book, you will have to walk up and down a hill every day--keeps you fit, but not much fun carrying 6Lt water and shopping in heat of day!! For ref i stayed at Fotini Complex.

Nice family run, but a few did complain about not having hot water or constant high volume music all day and night- till 1-2pm-- depend when others leaving, and you coming. In my case i was told to leave by 12 noon and wait til 1.55 am next day with bags-- Very disappointing end to a wonderful holiday.This constant customer stream means constant disturbances-- the wall and floors are tiled and you can her next doors bath habit's and make a tea and how many sugars they take!! Not kidding .

The hotels are built in days with hollow bricks, look nice, but i could not sleep easy when it thunders and boy does it know how to chuck it down! went in late Sept-Oct!! you are surrounded by shear cliffs and high mountains.

Anyway, i recorded the journey from the main street to my hotel room-approx 6min!! You will spot me pause halfway to show you a path to Lakones, which a lot of visitors and i have taken. It leads through olive trees to view that is well worth the trek--

I suggest start early morning 6-7am its cooler and by the time you reach the top there be less crowds which descend by the coach load every hour!! or evening but do go and have a nice meal in the hotel at the top the Goldern Fox, they have a side lift-- don't bother , if you came this far a few more steps won't hurt!! Yes believe it or not you can walk into any hotel or poolside take a dip, order food and sunbathe you don't need to be staying there.

Try the local Patiscatrisa waterver!- soft beef stew and pasta with some red wine. NICE enjoy the view. Then ask to go to roof top for more views and photo opportunities. I then when a bit to the left of the restaurant is a bakery which makes real coffee and walnut cake!! nice views here too!!
