Pink and green go so well together in home furnishings. A customer sent me a swatch of a gorgeous embroidered silk fabric and asked if I could make a shade to complement it. Fortuitously I had just the right colours of plant-paper in stock.
The resulting drum shade is for a period candlestick-style lamp base and will bring a contemporay twist to the scheme.

Once again I will be taking part in the Created for Christmas show in Ledbury. Now in its fourth year, it has always been a lovely event to stage in the run up to Christmas. Visitors escape the high street and enjoy perusing beautifully displayed handmade pieces at their leisure and chat to those who made them.
We have two new makers joining us this year - Margaret Robbins with her woven fleece textiles and Neil Alcock with his domestic pottery. There will also be baskets and felt cushions by Jenny Pearce, woven bead jewellery by Jocelyn Perry and batik art by Marie-Therese King.
I'll be there on 6th, 9th, 12th and 15th - do come and say hello.
If you are unfamiliar with Ledbury, Church Lane is the cobbled street that runs from the market house on stilts up to the church. The Weavers Gallery is half way up on the left before The Prince of Wales. The postcode for satnav users is HR8 1DW.

This half lamp is from a reclaimed OS map centred on Church Stretton.
This one features snippets of a Worcestershire OS map - balloons about to be released.
Here's a pair of lamps with 20cm diameter drum shades from local OS maps - May Hill and the Malvern Hills, these were popular at h.Art last year.
And finally, a bit of a diversion - my current stock lacked any pink shades so here is a very girly raspberry ripple design.
I set up my temporary studio at venue 86 today and we open tomorrow at 10am. I'm off to do some baking so we have lots of goodies to offer our visitors with their tea.
The 10th h.Art opens on Saturday and for sure I am not the only artist still busy making. This year there are 103 venues and 150 artists taking part.
Once again I will be setting up my sewing machine and displaying my lamps and shades alongside Jenny Pearce, the basket maker in Canon Frome. I'm excited to have a newly decorated 'studio space' this year with doors opening onto Jenny's lovely rural garden. Do call in for tea and cake and see what's new.
