"Making Clean PNGs"

First, I want to mention thanks to sayyads1 from Pngtree.com for my latest Creative Corner cover image. It's gorgeous! The original can be found here: https://pngtree.com/freepng/white-seven-horse_3640816.html and this template image can be downloaded for free for 'premium' members. ♥

There are a number of websites on the Internet that host and offer for free use, some just for personal use and others for commercial use, images with 'transparent' backgrounds, usually in the PNG format. Some are reputable; some are not.

Those that are not basically go around the Internet grabbing whatever images they can find and then upload them to and offer them from their site and the artist who did the 'original work' never gets mentioned. On the other hand, there are reputable sites, such as Pngtree that offer images to use that have 'a few' contributing artists who upload other artists' works "as their own", as I have learned first hand with Pngtree. But when I contacted Pngtree about some images being mine, Pngtree took the right and proper action and removed my work without hesitation.

With this said, what I'm addressing here though in this post mainly, is making clean PNG images with transparent backgrounds, since I see countless of these on the Internet that just aren't 'clean' and before they can be used, they have to be worked on, consuming a considerable amount of time, unless one wants to use them on/against a white or almost white background. A good, clean PNG image can be used on/with ANY background, light, dark, or in between.

But to make a good, clean PNG image requires time AND patience. There's more to isolating a subject from an image than simply using the eraser, magic eraser, or background eraser tools in photo editing programs. Granted, these tools do remove almost all of the background, but they do not make the image 'clean' using this process only. This step is the easy part. However, this step alone leaves an image with jagged edges and with an unwanted border or edge around the isolated subject, and when placed in another image, it looks awful.

Then there are some who use the eraser tool to remove the background, but don't make allowances for subjects that don't have 'smooth' clean cut edges, like for instance, animals having hair or fur. Usually then, when isolating an animal, it becomes a matter of removing the background AND even a small part of the edge of the animal that then has to be replaced manually. This is the 'fine tuning' part and this is the part that I see many don't bother doing because it "requires a LOT of time AND patience". As a result, in order to actually 'use' an image without this fine tuning, one has to spend hours doing the fine tuning before the image can be used.

For the purpose of presenting an example to give a visual of what I'm speaking here, I'm referring to this Pngtree image of what appears to be a Poodle mix:

Image example one is the image exactly as it downloaded placed on a dark background. Image example two is the same image placed on the same dark background, but after several hours of my fine tuning it. When PNG images with a transparent background are displayed on a website, they are displayed against a white background and so, you can't tell what the quality of the work is with the isolated image until you download it and place a dark background behind it, which I'm bringing to attention in these two example images.

A few years back I isolated a German Shepherd from a person's photo for him of his dog, Buddie. First, I am displaying his photo (Image one). Second, the image with Buddie framed that I isolated from his photo (Image two). Notice how clean my isolation of Buddie is. I also removed Buddie's chain. Then third, the image where I placed the isolated Buddie onto a college campus photo background, taken by my daughter (Image three). All of these are copyrighted, respectively, of course.

Tip: When isolating a subject from an image, usually a JPG photo, do it in a PSD format to work with the layers' feature. Add two additional 'background' layers 'behind the layer of the subject being isolated' and make one layer a solid, dark colour and the other layer a solid light or white layer. To check to see how clean your isolated layer is, turn on or open the eye for the dark layer and any stray, unwanted white or light pixels will show that then need erasing. When satisfied with, close the eye for the dark layer and open the eye for the light or white background layer and then check for any unwanted dark pixels or smudges and erase them.

As is usually the case in life, anything worth doing is worth doing right and the best one can or it's not worth doing it at all to only end up with something done of poor quality. My Mom taught and impressed this on me, to take pride in my work, when I was growing up and to this day I honour her words and try to do the best I can with everything I do, so I can and do take pride in/with my work.

Some more Christmas greeting cards I've designed, centered around cardinals. I love cardinals and they are especially pretty against the winter's snow and brighten the dreariness of winter. They are a symbol of warmth and faith, as well as the blood Jesus shed for us on the Cross. The word, 'cardinal', means of greatest importance and Christmas surely is! I may add more. You can always check back and see and even though some are added on or after Christmas, 2018, they will be here for next year and maybe by then, I'll have designed even more. Merry Christmas!

Growing up, one of my fondest Christmas memories is the making of Christmas cards and gift tags (which I may also do as well). Mom and us kids put all our creative ideas together, along with drawing, colouring, different colours of paper, glitter, and even some glue, and we made cards and tags to give to family, friends, teachers, mailman, etc.. To this day I enjoy making greeting cards for birthdays and various holidays/occasions, but especially for Christmas. Whenever possible we can share how we each are blessed with a gift or gifts, I believe we should and being creative is one of the ways God has gifted and blessed me.

My cards have different designs, some with a fine, gold trim, some not; some with outside borders, some not; some with candy cane frames/borders, some not. One design is a 'vertical' card (taller and less wide - 5.5 inches x 8.5 inches) and the other is a 'horizontal' card (shorter and more wide - 8.5 inches x 5.5 inches). For those who don't know how to print a card, I may at some point place helpful directions with images to help with card placement on the paper to be printed on, so your cards don't result in being backwards. Once you understand, it's very simple. They fit on one half of a regular size sheet of paper (11 inches x 8.5 inches - horizontal position; 8.5 inches x 11 inches - vertical position), preferably of 'card stock' grade so the card can be stood on its own to display, if wanted.

Under the images you'll see the corresponding image links for sharing, if one wishes. By right clicking on an image, you can then select 'save image' or 'save image as' to save it to your phone or computer. I refer to my cards as being either 'vertical' or 'horizontal' simply due to which measurement is greater. Since the vertical measurement is greater with the taller cards, I refer to them as 'vertical' and since the horizontal measurement is greater with the wider cards, I refer to these as 'horizontal'.

All my cards I've created in a PSD format, which means I can use a variety of combinations in their designing, with different colour combinations. For example: If I want a mainly red themed card, I'll use a candy cane 'inner' border that's red and white with red text and with possibly red poinsettias -or- I may forego the candy cane 'inner' border and use a glittery red outside border/frame, instead. If you look through all the cards I'm displaying, you will see the variety of ways I've designed them, along with the different colour themes.

I mention this because if you would like a particular card, but with a different colour theme, drop me an email and explain what colour theme change you would like and I'll be more than glad to customize a card for you. Make sure the subject says, "Christmas Card Customizing" (so if it goes to spam I'll know not to delete it) and in this case, it would be best to include the image link(s) I provide with my card images, so I can know which card (or cards) you are making reference to. I can also interchange "Merry Christmas" with say, "Season's Greetings" or "Happy Holidays", except I will not make this change on cards that depict the birth of Jesus, like The Nativity, Three Kings, and the Shepherds, Star of Bethlehem.

I've made and am making card designs for anyone to be able to download and print them and can give and/or send them to family and friends. They are and will remain copyrighted to yours truly. They are not to be altered in any way that removes, covers up, or eliminates in any way whatsoever, my name, my logo, and this blog's address. Another Christmas greeting card I've designed of my Christmas Teddybear. Me lurves teddybears! I may add more. Mom and us kids put all our creative ideas together, along with drawing, colouring, different colours of paper, glitter, and even some glue, and we made cards and tags to give to family, friends, teachers, mailman, etc.. To this day I enjoy making greeting cards for birthdays and various holidays/occasions, but especially for Christmas. Whenever possible we can share how we each are blessed with a gift or gifts, I believe we should and being creative is one of the ways God has gifted and blessed me.

My cards have different designs, some with a fine, gold trim, some not; some with outside borders, some not; some with candy cane frames/borders, some not. One design is a 'vertical' card (taller and less wide - 5.5 inches x 8.5 inches) and the other is a 'horizontal' card (shorter and more wide - 8.5 inches x 5.5 inches). For those who don't know how to print a card, I may at some point place helpful directions with images to help with card placement on the paper to be printed on, so your cards don't result in being backwards. Once you understand, it's very simple. Some more Christmas greeting cards I've designed, centered around snowmen, since Christmas comes during the snowy, winter season in the Northern Hemisphere, where I live, perfect for making snowmen. All my cards I've created in a PSD format, which means I can use a variety of combinations in their designing, with different colour combinations. For example: If I want a mainly red themed card, I'll use a candy cane 'inner' border that's red and white with red text and with possibly red poinsettias -or- I may forego the candy cane 'inner' border and use a glittery red outside border/frame, instead. If you look through all the cards I'm displaying, you will see the variety of ways I've designed them, along with the different colour themes.

I mention this because if you would like a particular card, but with a different colour theme, drop me an email and explain what colour theme change you would like and I'll be more than glad to customize a card for you. Make sure the subject says, "Christmas Card Customizing" (so if it goes to spam I'll know not to delete it) and in this case, it would be best to include the image link(s) I provide with my card images, so I can know which card (or cards) you are making reference to. Some more Christmas greeting cards I've designed, centered around winter scenery, since Christmas comes during the winter season in the Northern Hemisphere, where I live. I may add more. You can always check back and see and even though some are added on or after Christmas, 2018, they will be here for next year and maybe by then, I'll have designed even more. Merry Christmas!

Growing up, one of my fondest Christmas memories is the making of Christmas cards and gift tags (which I may also do as well). Mom and us kids put all our creative ideas together, along with drawing, colouring, different colours of paper, glitter, and even some glue, and we made cards and tags to give to family, friends, teachers, mailman, etc.. To this day I enjoy making greeting cards for birthdays and various holidays/occasions, but especially for Christmas. Whenever possible we can share how we each are blessed with a gift or gifts, I believe we should and being creative is one of the ways God has gifted and blessed me.

My cards have different designs, some with a fine, gold trim, some not; some with outside borders, some not; some with candy cane frames/borders, some not. One design is a 'vertical' card (taller and less wide - 5.5 inches x 8.5 inches) and the other is a 'horizontal' card (shorter and more wide - 8.5 inches x 5.5 inches). For those who don't know how to print a card, I may at some point place helpful directions with images to help with card placement on the paper to be printed on, so your cards don't result in being backwards. Once you understand, it's very simple. They fit on one half of a regular size sheet of paper (11 inches x 8.5 inches - horizontal position; 8.5 inches x 11 inches - vertical position), preferably of 'card stock' grade so the card can be stood on its own to display, if wanted.

Under the images you'll see the corresponding image links for sharing, if one wishes. By right clicking on an image, you can then select 'save image' or 'save image as' to save it to your phone or computer. I refer to my cards as being either 'vertical' or 'horizontal' simply due to which measurement is greater. Some more Christmas greeting cards I've designed, centered around cutie kitty cats. Just a couple atm, but I may add more. You can always check back and see and even though some are added on or after Christmas, 2018, they will be here for next year and maybe by then, I'll have designed even more. Merry Christmas!

Growing up, one of my fondest Christmas memories is the making of Christmas cards and gift tags (which I may also do as well). Mom and us kids put all our creative ideas together, along with drawing, colouring, different colours of paper, glitter, and even some glue, and we made cards and tags to give to family, friends, teachers, mailman, etc.. To this day I enjoy making greeting cards for birthdays and various holidays/occasions, but especially for Christmas. Whenever possible we can share how we each are blessed with a gift or gifts, I believe we should and being creative is one of the ways God has gifted and blessed me.

My cards have different designs, some with a fine, gold trim, some not; some with outside borders, some not; some with candy cane frames/borders, some not. One design is a 'vertical' card (taller and less wide - 5.5 inches x 8.5 inches) and the other is a 'horizontal' card (shorter and more wide - 8.5 inches x 5.5 inches). For those who don't know how to print a card, I may at some point place helpful directions with images to help with card placement on the paper to be printed on, so your cards don't result in being backwards. Once you understand, it's very simple. They fit on one half of a regular size sheet of paper (11 inches x 8.5 inches - horizontal position; 8.5 inches x 11 inches - vertical position), preferably of 'card stock' grade so the card can be stood on its own to display, if wanted.

Under the images you'll see the corresponding image links for sharing, if one wishes. By right clicking on an image, you can then select 'save image' or 'save image as' to save it to your phone or computer. I refer to my cards as being either 'vertical' or 'horizontal' simply due to which measurement is greater. Since the vertical measurement is greater with the taller cards, I refer to them as 'vertical' and since the horizontal measurement is greater with the wider cards, I refer to these as 'horizontal'.

All my cards I've created in a PSD format, which means I can use a variety of combinations in their designing, with different colour combinations. For example: If I want a mainly red themed card, I'll use a candy cane 'inner' border that's red and white with red text and with possibly red poinsettias -or- I may forego the candy cane 'inner' border and use a glittery red outside border/frame, instead. If you look through all the cards I'm displaying, you will see the variety of ways I've designed them, along with the different colour themes.

I mention this because if you would like a particular card, but with a different colour theme, drop me an email and explain what colour theme change you would like and I'll be more than glad to customize a card for you. Make sure the subject says, "Christmas Card Customizing" (so if it goes to spam I'll know not to delete it) and in this case, it would be best to include the image link(s) I provide with my card images, so I can know which card (or cards) you are making reference to. I can also interchange "Merry Christmas" with say, "Season's Greetings" or "Happy Holidays", except I will not make this change on cards that depict the birth of Jesus, like The Nativity, Three Kings, and the Shepherds, Star of Bethlehem.

About the usage rights - Terms and Conditions:
I've made and am making card designs for anyone to be able to download and print them and can give and/or send them to family and friends. They are and will remain copyrighted to yours truly. They are not to be altered in any way that removes, covers up, or eliminates in any way whatsoever, my name, my logo, and this blog's address. With all the hustle and bustle of the Christmas Season, we sometimes tend to forget what Christ-mas is really ALL about, celebrating and honouring the birth of the Holy Child, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Hence, I highlight "Christ" in the word 'Christmas'. I may add more. I've been digitally designing Christmas greeting cards. I have about two dozen made at this time, that when printed, will fit on one half of a regular size sheet of paper (11 inches x 8.5 inches - horizontal position; 8.5 inches x 11 inches - vertical position), preferably of 'card stock' grade so the card can be stood on its own to display, if wanted. Angel-Cell-Wallpapers

Howdy folks! ♥

Cellphone wallpapers I make, folks can use them on their cellphones "as is", if they wish. They CANNOT under any circumstances, however, be altered in any way without my permission, since they are COPYRIGHTED to me, Artsieladie/Sharon Donnelly.

The first three I created with the angels I very recently created from just an outline from Pixabay.com. The last/bottom wallpaper I created in memory of my sister, Carol, who passed away January, 2017.

I have created a wide variety of the angels on these wallpapers as well as a variety of the hearts they're carrying. I also show them on desktop size images. I'd like to make them available for folks to use in personal, non-commercial projects, but I don't want my graphics uploaded and offered as part of others' collections on the 'Net that some THIEF SITES are doing. I used to belong to and moderate a children's website, which was a Heddate site, but is now defunct and is currently a Japanese website. I like to work with and create for children and this crossword puzzle is just one of the many fun things I did for the children on the former children's site. I originally created it in 2006 and just a couple days ago I gave it a makeover. I'm posting it now so children can enjoy doing it. A little about the digital program, PhoXo.....

Note: It's usually best to download programs directly from the "home site" of a particular program whenever possible, unless you know an alternate site for download is reputable and safe. Downloading from sites other than the home site, increases your risk of downloading malicious spyware and malware that can be "piggybacked" with a program and then placed onto your computer AND 'very possibly' without you being the wiser.

I have used this digital program, PhoXo*, somewhat. It has a feature where you can add clip art images to your work that come from PhoXo's Clip Art Gallery. However, the program does not offer the capability to
add your own, at least, not yet that I know of.

There is an extensive number of attractive frames offered by the program as well that allows you to frame your work and they can be adjusted to: narrow, normal, and thick. Like the images, you can only add from the PhoXo Frame Gallery with the exception, you can make and add 'simple' gradient frames.

PhoXo has tools such as, pattern, stamp, shape, fade, and gradient, offering some cool and unique capabilities.
⁕ The pattern tool offers some cool pattern backgrounds.
⁕ The stamp tool is similar to how Photoshop's shape tool works.
⁕ The shape tool is used with a layer coloured or with an image and the selected shape is "lifted" from the background it's applied to, making only the shape itself left "of the background applied to" and the rest is wiped, made transparent.
⁕ The fade tool is unique in that it repeats an image but fades it out behind the image chosen.
⁕ The gradient tool is simplistic in that it creates 'simple' gradients.

Personally, I like having a variety of digital editing programs because different programs have different features, particularly in regards to effects and filters, which means you can do different things with different programs. Here is an example of using a combination of PhoXo, PicMonkey, and Photoshop. Note the '7' phasing/fading out.

"RSS Feed For Blogspot/Blogger"

After trying for what has seemed like an endless amount of time to create an RSS feed widget for my other Blogspot blogs to place on this one, using http://www.rssfeedwidget.com/, and having no luck with the feed given by Blogspot, I FINALLY decided to look at the code in the feed widgets I've previously made successfully. When it comes to HTML code, using it, and deciphering it, I am really BAD at it. 😧

Since I used the RSS feed from Blogspot previously and it worked, I don't understand why now it won't. 😕 Anyway, since I have the code from widgets I've previously made, I decided to see if there could be a RSS feed link "in the code snippet" of the working widgets. 😼 I found one but not written like this: "http://...".

For an example I'll refer to my blog at http://artsieladie-rhymetyme.blogspot.com.

Blogspot gives this as the RSS feed link: http://artsieladie-rhymetyme.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default

But when you enter this in the required RSS feed field to make the feed widget, it does not work now. 😖

When I looked in the snippet code of a working widget, it shows this as the RSS feed link:
http%3A%2F%2Fartsieladie-rhymetyme.blogspot.com%2Ffeeds%2Fposts%2Fdefault%3Falt%3Drss

So, I put this "as is" in the RSS field but no good. It didn't work. 😒 So, then I thought if I 'decoded' the code that replaces characters such as the colon, forward slashes, etc., perhaps it would work. 😐

I remembered that "%3A" replaces a colon and "%2F" replaces a forward slash but the latter two, "%3F" and "%3D" I couldn't. 😦 So then I googled: "%3F in HTML equals what?" ...and there was this link: http://www.degraeve.com/reference/urlencoding.php which showed me what they stood for. 😌

Once decoded, the RSS feed link for my rhymetyme blog is:
http://artsieladie-rhymetyme.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default?alt=rss 😸

Then I went back to Feed Widget and put this 'decoded' link in the RSS feed field, and whalah! Success! 😤

I know some of you web designers and programmers probably are having a good laugh about this (I'm laughing myself now that I've figured it out) 😆 but for those of us who don't do this sort of thing very much or on a regular basis, it's minor things like this that makes getting a site together, working and presentable quite time consuming to say the least.

I'm sharing this in case others have run into this dilemma. For your Blogspot blog, this is the RSS feed, except just insert the name of your blog where this is: (your blog name here) like this only I'm using my blog's name as an example:

http://(your blog name here).blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default?alt=rss

With my blog name inserted, becomes:
http://artsieladie-rhymetyme.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default?alt=rss

Now it's back to work for me.

"Anniversary Poem"

Through the years from where we came,
We've traveled our many roads together...
Though some were long and dreary_
Made us tired, made us weary...
We've always withstood the weather.

Through the years from where we came,
We have added verses to our song.
Yet still we've stayed in tune
Since we first began in June.
Somehow, our journey hasn't seemed that long.

Through the years from where we came,
Maybe, we've gotten just a little out of sync
Yet, we ironed out the creases
And adopted some new thesis
But retained the cup from which we drink.

Through the years from where we came,
We've built strength on respect and caring
Matters that are small
We tend to each and all
With our love and through our sharing.

With God we've shared our trail.
He has carried us thus far
For we have focused on the star
Of Jesus through our hill and vale.

About my dear Mother, when there is really no way....
To adequately state, to totally uphold,
A real superwoman which never gets told.
The credit she deserves cannot be explained.
Exalt her I do for she's truly ordained.
Her spirit is relentless. Her courage so great.
With a heart so big I can only elate.
Her will is astounding though her mountains are steep.
Her compassion's abounding. Her integrity runs deep.
With endurance so endless and vitality...did I mention?
Perseverance, she has plenty, her best... her intention.
A greater compliment I could never receive...

These puppies are happy now...With their great, new home.

They've got lots of new sights of which to explore and roam.
...Two once homeless puppies and now in a good home...

Update note: At the time of this post, I was very actively involved with animal/pet rescue. I fostered
countless animals in my home until new, forever homes could be found for them. These puppies were
two of the animals I fostered until a new home for them was found.

Sometimes-Take-Time

Hello all, from Artsieladie!

"Sometimes...Take Time"

Sometimes...
Throughout our busy days...
In the chaos and the craze...
While we strive to live like kings,
We forget IMPORTANT things!

The beauty of a tree -
Ah, yes, a child's wonder -
Or of a rose in bloom -
Do we dare to ponder?

Seemingly insignificant matters, like thoughts 'n' prayers 'n' such...
Well, maybe, "We'll do it later...." ('cause it doesn't matter much!")
Not only of our time, is our sparing small,
But, with all our "gotta' haves", we don't recognize the call.
Of someone in need, a stranger or a friend,
Maybe just a helping hand, is all we need to lend.

You see? If it doesn't fit... within our schedule range,
Our accustomed style... we simply cannot change!
I'm not going that way... I don't think I can...
I've got to get my 'this'... That's not within my plan...
These are some 'excuses' that we're guilty of each day,
But, if we thought a moment... I bet we'd find a way!
To make a call or two or help someone in need,
If we did without a little, it would magnify, indeed!

If our material possessions were all just stripped away,
Would we be left standing... naked and in dismay?
Could we look inside our soul and be content in what we see
Or would we make some changes and throw away the key?

To the door of 'think of me'... be sure it's locked up tight,
'Cause a whole new door will open as you're showered with the light!
No longer will you have to worry about your little self,
'Cause the care you give to others will not remain upon the shelf!

You'll be surrounded in ways you can't imagine thus,
You'll feel much more significant and no more like a 'wuss'!
The rewards in life are plenty. They are there for all of us,
If we do a little caring and refocus how we fuss!

So, let us all each day find some time for others.
Share our thoughts and feelings with our sisters and our brothers.
I don't mean just family here... although they're number one,
But also, with the other souls that may not always be as fun!

Let me just say..... that I'm guilty of this, too...
That's why I'm sharing thoughts as I think of you.
And if tomorrow I'm not here, 'cause we never know what's next,
I want my family and friends to know and not to feel perplexed.

To say the way I feel... that I love each and every one...
Just doesn't seem adequate or that my task is done!
So, if there's any doubt in your minds as of today...
Remember this I've said and I mean just what I say!
I want to say one more thing, this, most of all...
May you each know God's Blessings. May they be showered on you ALL!!!
