First 2012 finish...

Remember my Plaid Pods Pillow Case project? well on Sunday i sat and finished it off and i am really pleased with the result. I think i did well with the colour choices, i need to do another pillow case so i have a set and i will be adding either some lace crochet to the pillow case edge or some lace i brought, i have not decided yet.

The Plaid Pods pattern was a free download, i am not feeling to great today so i will find the link to the pattern and post it when i am next blogging. I working on them for 5 days altogether so they are quick to stitch up.

Well i thought i had better show my face, as with everyone it has been non-stop! my bank account has taken a severe beating, i have a happy child with lot's of pressies and we also have a new addition...Dora, our 5 week old kitten..

she is a cutie, and most importantly litter trained so she is a delight to have around (i say just as she is chewing my laptop lead).

Christmas Eve we collected Dora, took little man to Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park which was amazing i will definitely be going next year, then came back and cooked dinner for my family which was a success. Christmas Day we chilled indoors so little man could play with all his new toys and i cooked Christmas dinner for just us.

I am not back to work until next week so i still have time to try and relax so far i have just been doing a lot of cooking, cleaning, washing boooo!

Well it has been busy, busy, leading up to Xmas in all areas especially work. I am looking forward to my xmas break, i am off work on Monday so i can go and finish up my xmas shopping and then from Friday until the 3rd January our offices are closed so i have a nice break.

Although things have been busy i have found time to get in some crochet, i have started a Granny striped blanket for my son's room, i have been meaning to start to one for sometime. It is going to be big (single bed size), this is hard to put it down so addictive whizzing along the rows quite fast i can do two rows in a evening, here are a couple of snaps of my progress

Check out this pudding i made a couple of weekends ago...

I used chocolate swiss roll cut up into slices and lined the bowl with them, then put in the centre some chocolate angel delight, then for the top i used birds eye topping and hundred's & thousands. You can also line the bowl with cling film and line with swiss roll slices fill centre with chocolate icecream freeze and tip out and Tah Dah a ice cream cake i saw that on a cooking program :o)

Something a bit different than the usual crochet and knitting...

A few weeks ago i brought this mag for the first time from WH Smith's and thought i would try out one of the heart projects. The mag provided some ribbons with it.

They have a few nice little projects on this page.

So i cut the straight part of a wire coat hanger and bent it into a hear shape, then i wound silky net ribbon all around for the base of my decorating, luckily i have a good stash of bits and bobs i could use for decorating.

Tah Dah! and this is the result, i used the free ribbons and some heart buttons and beads i had in my stash.

I love this pic above came out great it shows up the detail nicely!

I have hung it in my bedroom it looks very pretty! it must of taken all of an hour this morning to make, why don't you try it yourself?

I am so glad it is the weekend, I have had a busy week at work, also I have had a nasty cold and cough for the past two weeks, I am only just beginning to feel back my normal self, I just have a tickly cough left to shift.

Every weekend i always look out my living room windows at the view i love so much....

It makes me feel good inside to see that pond and all the beautiful surroundings, the park is huge and we always take our son there to ride his scooter, last weekend they had firework displays and i took my son for the children's display, then brought him home and watched the main one from my bedroom window it was the best view!

I have sorted through all my WIP's and bits of finished cross stitch that I have done nothing with and I am deciding what I want to work on next, I need to finish my Cowl I am knitting that is for sure. So we will see what I will get done over the weekend.

Finished Crochet Lampshade..

Here is my finished crochet lampshade for my son's room, before it was just a plain beige shade, it is not the most amazing finish in the world i think it could have been neater, but it actually looks nicer than it does in the photo's.

I have not been very productive these passed couple of weeks, i had an exam and i have had a nasty cold which is now a nasty cough so i have been falsing myself to do nothing when i get in from work and just rest so i can get better quicker, but i am itching to get on with something creative after all that studying.
Hopefully by the end of the week i will be much better.

The other day i found this great blog that does WIP Wednesday which i think is a great idea especially as i do not get a lot of love on here :o(

So this is my current work in progress apart from my Cowl i am knitting , this is a lampshade cover for my lil man's lamp, i am on the verge of finishing it and i only started it on Saturday evening so i have not really taken that many pics.

Now that the cold weather has hit all i am doing these days apart from work and studies and looking after my lil man is either knitting or crocheting. There are so many things i want to make at the moment, a pair of long socks if definitely on the list!

I will be checking out everyone else's WIP's, i have made a start already.

At the moment i have been knitting every evening on my Cowl i have designed and i nearing the half way mark and it is looking very good i love knitting with Aran wool. Stitching wise i am still working on my Plaid Pods pillow cases although they have taken a bit if a backseat while i have been knitting my Cowl.

So on Saturday evening about 10pm i had a sudden need to crochet a doily, so i made it up as i went along and this is the result...

The theme in my bedroom is purple by the way that is why i chose to do a purple one. I love crocheting those ruffles, i used 100% cotton used for lace making, you cannot see the excellent quality of it in these pics but it looks much nicer in the flesh. I really do need to get myself a decent camera, mobile phone pics just do not do FO's any justice.

Knitting in the park

I have never been one for crocheting or knitting in public i am rather shy about it, but if i can get away with a sneaky session tucked away in the park then i don't mind.

As we had such lovely weather over the weekend i decided to sit in the park with my knitting and music, oh it was bliss soooo relaxing!

I was also dying to cast on a Cowl i have designed, i knitted quite a bit of it because i am using Rowan's 100% wool, Aran and it is a gorgeous Olive Green, but i had to rip it all out and start again as i had to make adjustments i was expecting to have to do that to be honest, if you are designing a knit yourself one definitely cannot expect to get away with it being spot on the first time.

Folded

You may remember i was knitting Folded well i was a little uncertain that once finished it would not flatter my shape and i kept making mistakes and have pulled it all out numerous times, only because i am a novice knitter.
Well i thought let me have a little look on Ravelry at the projects i have in my Favorites and see if i can knit another top instead and i saw this one by the same designer as Folded and liked this one better and it seems like i would be able to get on with this knit a bit better. This pattern is free by the way but Folded is not.

Plain and Simple Pullover

I am just finishing knitting my swatch, my measurements are different to those in the pattern so i have to amend so it knits to fit me right. I am using the same yarn that i was using to knit folded 100% Merino fingering weight on Bamboo circulars.

The Plaid Pods is still in progress i have just put it down for a minute to get this knit underway.

My day 3 progress, it is so hard to put this down before bed, i have been up a little late stitching on this but it is so addictive because it is a quick stitch, if i sat for a day i could probably stitch all of it but as it stands i can only spend 1-2 hours stitching before bed.

I started this on Sunday night, It is a pattern by Anna Maria Horner and it is called Plaid Pods i am stitching this on a Lilac pillow case (it looks a bit pinky in the photo). I drew the design on the Pillow case then chose my colours (definitely the most fun part) and made a start on stitching it. You can download the pattern for free here

Weekend baking was some Banana Cake, which is still being polished off!

I am loving my new place it is adorable and so cosy and homely here are some snaps of just a few things i love..

I love baking, i just do not have a lot of time to do it, on the weekend me and little man made these raisin Flapjacks they came out lovely and soft and yummy! Lil man loves helping out so he was really proud of our Flappies. I have tried out a few recipes for the perfect flapjacks and then i put together my own version which works for me, i have made these numerous times and they last for a good 5 days.

Slow Crocheter? i think not!

Well you know i said in my post yesterday that i was a slow crocheter, well that was all lies, yep lies!

And you know i also said i would crochet another Pineapple Granny Square to get a neater centre well that was true, i whipped up this baby last night, took me 4 hours....(the purple one)

1st attempt from yesterdays post (White)

I made two adjustments to the pattern on the Purple square one was from Michelle who advised to chain 2 instead of chain 3 when starting a new row and using that chain as the first DC, the second one (my advice to myself) was to to chain 3 instead of one on the joining corner of the square. To make a King Size blanket i need 80 of these Pineapple's 8 wide, 10 high. Let's see eh!

12" Pineapple Granny Square 3 days to crochet (i am a slow crocheter)

My 1st attempt at a Pineapple Granny Square, i think the centre is not as neat as it should be, but overall i am please with it and will crochet it again and see if i can get a neater center. I was looking for something different to crochet and i found this pattern and another one that i want to try out but is more complicated.

I am still around, things are really up in the air for me right now, i am due to move house again, i am going through a bit of a tough time at the moment. Once i have moved which will be next week and settled down all crafting and blogging will resume i promise, in the meantime i am still reading everyone elses blogs on a daily basis they help keep me sane :o)

I have received everything needed to start my first pair of socks and i made a tincy start but now I am stuck on how to join in the round on dpn's, actually I should say I am confused so I have downed needles.

I have a seriously stinking cold, but over the weekend instead of resting I decided I would clear my dining room which was filled with bags and boxes that we had not yet dealt with since we moved in November last year, so me being me decided whilst ill i should tackle that hefty task, well it took me 2 and a half days and now I actually have a proper dining room, the table and chairs are out and everything. But I am still ill so I think I need to take it easy now!

Once I have shifted this cold I will definitely try and go jogging again at the weekend. Now I just need to get these socks started.
