.. I guess every one experiences it when off the house..

.. Seems like ages that I have been here in US..

.. So much has the time elapsed that I am going to give my midterms tomorrow..

.. Feelings of Nostalgia sets in every now and then..

.. Seems as if its pulsatile..!!

.. It comes and I treat it and then again it comes and I treat it..

.. Treatment has been effective till now.. Simple.. Talk to those whom u miss..

.. Doing nothing great these days other than waking up most of the days all night and watching House MD online waiting on the hook for a chat..

.. And it turns fruitful once or twice a week..!!

.. Nothing new on my side.. Apart from the fact that I am still living in this one BHK appt and still hoping to get a call for Uni housing..

.. Nothing new other than hundreds of application in a week for the job and all of them turning out to be fruitless..

.. Every dog has its Day and I will have one..!!

.. I hope the bone will be big after all that wait..

Btw, its 14th Feb and all the couples celebrate it as a valentine day, so I thought its better to celebrate with friends..( for the one like me :p)

Hi guys..

Have been a long time since I actually updated u on my happenings..

Probably after Uttarayan..

..We were off to Rice Village again on 22nd..

..This time we were in "Bakers Pub & Street"..

..Our FRESHERS Party if u can say it that way..

..They call it a way to socialize ourselves over a dinner.. It was fun..

..Especially for pple like me who can eat non-veg..

..For Veggie pple, it was not that gud as they had only meshed potatoes and thats it..

Here comes 26th Jan:

..First Republic Day in US..

.. I never used to celebrate it back in India though.. Not after I came in college.. Before that in school I used to celebrate it every year as I was in NCC..

.. We had a preety lousy day out here on 25th..

.. Then we watched a documentary:

"Story of India" which is in many parts.. We watched just the first part of it(But I can assure you all parts will be seen definitely), so to say our republic day celebrations will last for around 7 days till v complete all the parts of it..

Never was I nywhere near strong when it comes to H/o India.. But may be I will be once I finish watching Story of India..

Its amazing to know, how first pple came in India and settled in South..

.. The first civilization - Indus Valley : How India got its name..!! Honestly, I admit I dint know before this that India is named so because first civilization was in Indus Valley..

.. The migration towards west over ganges..

.. The first ever and oldest civilizations ever developed..

.. Many more things I never knew about India..

So thats how Republic Day was celebrated.. Or shd I said We have just started.. Cause its just 1:00 am on 26th jan as I write this..

..Thats about it for now..

..Probably the first day since i arrived in US which was a full fledged day of work and i got the idea how particular and punctual they are when it comes to work..

..Many of my work was pending cause of xmas holidays plus sat sunday that came in between.. ..Today however one working day was enuf to finish dem all..

- Immunization Laptop

- Criminal backgrnd check

- Insurance check

- uth registration

- course selection

- pin activation

..ufff lots of things done today

..Have my orientation tomorrow and day after..

..Imagine two days of orientation with 12 hrs per day..

..Have to still register in my school and then get my school id tomo..

..Then have to apply for the state id and for metro id..

..Once done with the registration tomo i ll have to start applyin for jobs i guess thats where i ll need sm luck and wishes hehe...!!!

8th Jan

..I attended my orientation on 6th and 7th.. It was nice..

..The college on the whole is organized..

..I have got my college mail id

..My classes start on monday

..My weekly schedule is like this - Monday and tuesday 12 to 2 and wednesday 10 to 3 local time lectures baaki na divas kai nathi till i get a job(keep praying i get one hehe)

12th Jan onwards

..College started last monday 12th.. Or shd I say school started hehe.. attended biostat lec on the very first day and i pity americans..

..They really don know maths.. And they are teaching me lolzz..

..Teaching assistants here dont know how to operate comps too, I make them learn..

..Seems like native americans are the most foolish amongst species i ve encountered..

..Indians rock.. And india rocks too.. Miss india.. But ya us is too organized(sometimes a bit too much).. Atleast they teach here unlike india..

..There is a system which everyone follows.. My week was a lousy one and made me even more lousier..

..I got my texas state ID.. Although a temporary one, permanent one will come in few days by mail..

..College dint even start full fledged and I ve got a mini vacation..

..Saturday sunday holiday of course, then monday is martin luther king holiday and tuesday is obama's swearing ceremony so holiday.. A sorta minivacation..

..The most exciting day here for me was 15th Jan, yeah i know it was uttarayan there in india, and i celebrated it in a very special way, guess how..

..15th jan is the first day for booking a UT university housing.. And i was standing in line outside leasing office from 14th night..

..Like thanks giving, v stood all night from 8 o clock on 14th night to 9 morning on 15th.. And temperature ws 2 degrees outside..

..Exciting ne? Well after all that standing out, V got out waiting list number in appartment of 6th for 2 bedroom appt and 9th for 3 bedroom appt, and v ll take which ever is offered first..

..Imagine how many were in line ahead of us..

..Was a unique experience..

..Well thats about it till 17th.. Had to rapidly post here from few of the mails that i sent various pple so will keep my track here too now on.. Njoi and stay in tch..

As written on 30th December:

..My journey till US was amazing..

..Boarded frm ahd and plane was 1 hr late..

..Food was nice in plane..

..Air Hostess.. Hmm better than those in others hehe... Overall I can say I became a fan of Emirates..

..Arrived in Houston at 3-30 pm on 30th.. And guess wat I had to wait for a super-shuttle to drop me home for about an hr or so.. It gets dark here at 5 in the evening.. Seems like days pass by so quickly.. Reached home at 7-30..

..Roads and environment here are so clean that u wont mind walking any distance in such environment..

..Walked about 3 miles on 30th..

..So dont tell me i am a lazy bum..

..Pple here are so organized..

..Sometimes a bit too organized..

..U can hear sorry and thanks about 20 times in an hr..

..But Road sense is amazing..

..If u have a car and u driving, u have to stop at every crossroads regardless of whether there are any signals or not.. U have to stop and see if there are any cars arnd and then move ahead.. Pedestrians are god.. FIrst look for them and then u drive..

..Baaki regarding Food, had bhurji yest. Today had burger and juice..All homemade.

31st December

..Went to Rice village on 31st..

..Its a pub plus resto street was too costly if v convert it into rs V roamed about there till 10-30 night and then thought of eating smthing but houston sucks..

..V went to 5 diff places and all said v are closed..

..Houston seems to shut down at 10..

..Preety bad for smone like me who eats anytym..

..I can see only black and indians and chinese pple out here Blacks are typically feared by chinese..

..They roam about always in that hip hop style of dressing.. pple say thay loot chinese after 10 if they are seen roaming on street..

..My appt is nice..

1st Jan, 2009

..On 1st we went to Houston zoo..

..Again there was a free entry thats why..

..Well u d forget every animal u saw in zoo if u see houston zoo..

..And if u think only indians attack free entries, u are wrong.. V got to know today that americans are equally good at making use of free entries.. Needless to say there was a lot of scope for birdwatching ;)

..Went to BHOJAN resto at 1st night..

..Was costly.. But for celebrating new year it was good.. Costed 15 $ per person..

..Imagine dinner worth 750 Rs.. :p I have to say i ve not seen such a well made gujju food even in india..

..Em bi in india i neve use to have gujju thali..

..Ve seen so many places in houston already.. And on the flipside i ve not yet seen my school hehe...

..Saturday was amazing.. & of Indian students stayin arnd gathered and went to malls for groceries.. ..Den we gathered together at one place, played some cards and watched a movie together.. ..Reminded of home where v used to do the same..

..Slept at 3 last night and yet m awake and mailing today at 8..

..Today bein a sunday i think its a day for cricket..

..I played tennis yest.. Courts are gud..

..V have our university recreation center where there are courts for all games, tennis, squash, basketball, pool, swimming pool, gym which is way above the level of any paid gym in ahd and all here is free.. ofcourse i forgot tt table..

..But there is no carrom so m missing it..

..Overall u can say there are all the facilities available just that it depends on how much and where u wanna develop..

..There is a lot of wastage when it comes to resources.

..Just that US is a developed country doesnt mean that they have to waste all resources..

..They keep lights in all the buildings like our uni building on for 24 hrs..

..They keep LCDs on all night i wonder whos gonna watch it if the door is locked from outside.. But thats how they are..

..They even lit up football stadium when there is no match.. Imagine how much wastage floodlights can cause..

1 month of freedom

Finally..

As my day of flying comes nearer, equal number of days from a relatively free life gets out of my life.. About 1 month remains before I fly off to US.. I dunno what future lies ahead of me there but one thing is for sure, I will definitely pierce myself to make my way..

Getting Visa date is sucking more out of me than getting a gal out for a date..

And Every morning I wake up in a hope of getting one visa date and I end up being disappointed everyday..

Well you pple can drop ur comments here for whatever rubbish or useful stuff that I need to bring to US along with my baggage.. Its possible that you forgot many things which you later thought was necessary.. Just pen down all those as a comment here so that I dont forget much..

Rest from my side, I am just waiting to arrive there now.. I hope it ll be much much better life than to get myself rusted here..

Its been so much time.. 5 years during which we celebrated diwali together.. And now this year when u pple were not around to celebrate, i have to say etli maja na aai.. Though I still remain so busy to take some time out but the way we celebrated was different.. There are no more all night gatherings by our AKTA group..

Post-Exam Dementia

Yo guys, as u all know my Step 1 is all but over..

I really dunno how it went by because by the end of it i was too tired to think even about previous block..

I am just happy to be on the other side of exam (Though only the first of many)..

First of all my apologies to one and all of those je loko ne me bauj modhe sambhlavi ti when they asked me why i delayed it for 3 days from 21st to 24th..

I was honestly frustrated at such questions coming in 3 days before exam..

So frustration ma sambhalavi didhi..

Post exam I really keep forgetting things to do..

First of it is sleeping..

I have slept for 8 hrs in total in last 3 days..

24 hrs seem too less to me for enjoying.. Imagine what would have been the case if all of u were here.. How I wish that was true.. But kai nai i ll join u guys there soon..

Now on more recent updates..

First of all Happy Diwali and a prosperous new year to all

Today was Diwali here..

And I have enjoyed it to the fullest (As I do every year)

Had two Rangoli sessions..

Hi gang..

Navratri is all but over..

I was out and enjoying for 5/9 days.. Ya ya i know its less, just a bit of respect for step 1..

It was fun but missed u pple in garba, esp Rush with his attempts at it :p

I had my studying schedule all disturbed.. I studied at night and slept all day..

I am reading in a 24 hr A/C library where Bali used to go during his Step 1..

I read all night.. Around 4:30 in the morning, I travel all the way to College.. Guess for what? Yes, Omlet..

Sadly, I am alone this time around..

Really miss u guys here every early morning I go outside VS for Omlet..

There is a term for Home sick called Nostalgia..

Now I wonder what will missing cronies be called..

Chronalgia..?? (Guys, Though its an attempt at Neologism, Don't take me as a Schizophrenic :P)

Got my date for USMLE finally in Ahmedabad.. Its 21st Oct..

Seems far yet so close..

Enjoying Navratri along the way and reading in rest of the time, its fun..

Tomorrow may turn out to be the last day of my Navratri..

If so happens, i'd have bunked 4 days of Navratri.. A record for all these years..

OMG, only 14 days to go for exam..

And see me, apart from tp in Navratri, i am blogging..

The Waiting Game

Finally...

Sitting here to write this post with my scheduling permit open again and me being able to log in to the prometric site again..

I log in to the prometric site and check for the available dates..

What do I find??

No dates available in my block..!!!

I go to Prometric and tell them what happened.. They oblige.. But only to finally say that we can give u date only once it opens up again when someone leaves the date..

Will call up Gurgaon tomorrow to see whether I can cast a seduction on them to make some adjustment..

Until then I have to wait..

Checked Mumbai for the dates and earliest available there in my block is 24th Oct..

So it seems, Its a waiting game..

Till I get my date and then the game may turn into an impatient hustling..!!

The Dean Mix Up

After so many years in the college, here we all are.. Me this time genuinely trying to get past my first hurdle of USMLE..

The years we spent in college were simply amazing..

At the end of it, i had to be the unlucky one who gets involved in this dean problem.. As i said before to anuja, it felt like killing him off rather than going through all this..

But finally after 15 days or so of almost everyday rush in college and add to that the money i wasted in sending those documents to ECFMG via DHL, this rubbish gets cleared..

Finally Dean is registered in ECFMG and It now seems like i may be able to give exam finally (or should i say will be allowed to lolzz)

Though my Prometric still shows my blocked account when i try to log in to it.. But i am hopeful of getting it cleared by tomorrow..

And then will arrive a date finally when i ll give my step 1..

Will come up with more soon..

Keep praying suitable dates are available in ahmedabad (I heard from others there are none in my block in ahmedabad, though will come to know only tomorrow when prometric will allow my id again to access their site)
