I have been photographing people and weddings since 1996 and I can honestly say I have heard it all. The truth is, photography is NOT easy. Digital SLR Magazine Cover Shoot

So last week I attended a shoot with Digital SLR magazine. Three of their lucky readers had the opportunity of shooting the cover of the next edition of the magazine I was asked to attend as the professional photographer to offer advice and guidance. I recommended Botias a fantastic makeup artist and hair stylist who worked her magic on our gorgeous model Elizabeth Brauer. There were three lucky readers who took turns in shooting our model and the guys at the Magazine will be choosing one of the images to grace the front cover next month. I took some shots on the day - so I hope you enjoy looking through them!

As seen on TV! Story on Anglia News about the release of the Royal baby family photograph

Tuesday 20 August was an exciting day for us at Ashworth Photography. I had an unexpected call at about 10am from Claire at ITV Anglia news who was covering the story about the release of the family photograph of the new Royal baby taken by the Duchess of Cambridge’s father in their garden on a sunny summers day. Claire wanted to touch on the importance of capturing a baby at newborn stage, particularly professionally, and the fact that the Royals chose to release a more informal family snap taken by the baby's grandfather instead of a formal photograph that is more common with the Royal Family. So after making a few calls I was able to ask Catherine and Sophia who had been to the studio just the week before for some of our early baby shots, as she was just 14 days old. We were both interviewed and filmed during a short photo session for the piece. Catherine and Sophia were very natural on film and being about photography I found the questions very easy to answer! Anyway we made a short video with the help of Hayley my assistant of the filming and we plan to edit the whole interview for anyone that's interested. Mark wins Photographer of the Year award in national competition

I am delighted to have won the prestigious title of Click Photographer of the Year 2011, by the Click and Fresh group at a very special awards ceremony in North London on Sunday evening. I am so excited to have been selected from so many entries from plenty of other superb images. I have been a member of this photographic group for around 5 years now who specialise in promoting and marketing professional photographers who specialise in studio photography covering family portraits, baby photography, makeovers and more. The group is made up of over 100 studios nationwide and is dedicated to raising the quality of professional photography ensuring its members deliver nothing but the best to its customers. I entered 10 images, 4 of which were shortlisted to win. With only two categories, one for makeover and boudoir photography and one for portraits, the competition was very tough with over 500 entries to choose from. The SWPP (Society of Wedding and Portrait Phototgraphers) judged the competition, who I have done many talks and seminars for over the years at their amazing annual photographic convention in London. I hope to have a few quotes from Charlie and the judges to pass on soon - so watch this space!

I have been giving talks and training seminars for many years often talking about running my own business and sharing information of wedding and portrait photography. I wanted to give back something a little different this year, and being a bit if a "techy" I wanted to share my knowledge of a very powerful piece of industry standard design software that has been a part of my workflow for many years.

...I love talking to fellow photographers and this annual convention is packed full of people wanting to learn from trainers and teachers with all genres in photography, especially wedding and portrait photography. I gave two talks on designing wedding album pages using Adobe Indesign - both of which were well attended. Covering the basics from creating a new document, to working with your images, creating designs and templates and exporting for print.

I am thrilled - for the third year running I have won the Velvet Magazine "First for Photography" award. This year Velvet magazine really pulled out all the stops for these very prestigious awards and held a fantastic event at Parsonage Barns in Wooddittion near Newmarket. The venue looked fantastic, beautifully decorated and the perfect size for this occasion. There was champagne and canapes on arrival and some fantastic entertainment. It was great to mingle with lots of local businesses, all very excited to be nominated for their categories. Velvet has a great reputation for supporting local businesses and tonight certainly showed their ongoing commitment to the business community. There was a raffle with some great prizes, all the money being donated to the East Anglian Air Ambulance Charity. The awards were given to 18 local businesses from in and around Cambridge and Newmarket, which were voted for by Velvet Magazine readers. To top all this on leaving everyone was presented a goody bag with lots of treats from some of the nominated companies. It was a great evening and I am very proud of this award....

Sorry it has been a while since blogging, and even more sorry that I have not posted any images of my beautiful daughter! Kirsty gave birth to Evelyn Ashworth at 7.12am on Friday 17th June 2011 at Addenbrookes hospital Cambridge. Obviously we have been very busy over the last couple of weeks with a real shock to our system, and everyone is absolutely right - nothing prepares you for bringing another life into the world. We thought we had everything sorted......!!! Anyway Evelyn is a joy and she was born a very healthy and happy baby even though very large at 10 lbs. Here are a few images taken in the first week of her life. Much credit goes to my very talented friend Maria Murray for the last image on this post - a truly wonderful baby photographer. Thanks so much Maria! This last image, taken by the very talented Maria Murray - thanks so much for a great set of photographs we will both treasure forever!

Lydia and Tom's Wedding at Downing College and Anstey Hall, Cambridge

Congratulations to Lydia and Tom on their wedding day on Saturday 30th April 2011. The wedding ceremony took place in the beautiful setting of Downing College, Cambridge which is one of my favourite colleges in Cambridge. The drinks and evening reception took place just a short distance away in Trumpington at Anstey Hall, a privately owned 17th century country house making this a very exclusive wedding venue in Cambridgeshire. After all the excitement of the Royal wedding the day before I was feeling very inspired about photographing Lydia and Toms wedding day. The weather had been so kind for Will and Kate, I was delighted the sun shone all day on Saturday. It was pretty windy but I would rather that the thought of rain! I met up with Tom and the boys early for some shots at Downing College, before heading over to Anstey Hall for Lydia's preparations. Everything was so calm and well organised. The wedding took place in the chapel at Downing College which is simple and stunning. After the family photographs we took a few shots of the couple around Downing College and then headed back to the reception at Anstey Hall. Everyone had a great time catching up during the drinks reception in the beautiful English sunshine. Looking forward to getting all the images ready for Lydia and Tom on their return from honeymoon. Congratulations to Sue and Wayne on their wedding day on Thursday 28th April 2011. The wedding ceremony , drinks and evening reception all took place at South Farm, near Royston in Hertfordshire, a very popular wedding venue in Hertfordshire Celebrating their special occasion just one day before the Royals in London, Sue and Wayne celebrated with a small and intimate wedding service and reception at South Farm. I haven't been here for sometime and wow what a venue. It's had some refurbishments and improvements both inside and out and is a beautiful and idillic place for a wedding celebration. Sue wore a very elegant wedding gown and the boys were very smart in their tails with green cravats. After the ceremony at 3pm, which Sue was a little late for - just to keep Wayne on his toes, we took some great shots in the gardens of South Farm. Liz and Lionel's Wedding at Swynford Hotel, Suffolk

Congratulations to Liz and Lionel on their wedding day on Saturday 9th October 2010. The wedding ceremony , drinks and evening reception all took place at Swynford Paddocks, now known as Swynford Hotel, a very popular wedding venue in Suffolk. Everything happened at the hotel for Liz and Lionel’s special day. The weather was very warm for the time of year, and stayed dry all day. I met the couple well over a year ago and had the pleasure of photographing them with their daughters who made fabulous bridesmaids along with a couple of Liz’s friends. It was also great to see some other familiar faces as the best men, Daryl and Bruce used to live just a few doors from me when I still lived with my parents. After the ceremony we had plenty of time for photos, and took some great shots around the grounds of the venue. I really enjoyed this wedding as I find civil ceremony’s at one location far more relaxed! Can’t wait to show all the pictures to this great couple....

I was delighted to receive the news that I have been awarded “First for Photography” in this years Velvet Magazine awards. I also won the category last year when the Magazine was called NKTBE, which covered Newmarket and Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. Velvet magazine was launched about a year ago and was for the Cambridge area, but now the publications have merged and Velvet magazine now covers Cambridge, Newmarket and Bury St Edmunds. Sarah and James' Wedding in Wimbish and Leez Priory, Essex

Congratulations to Sarah and James on their wedding day on Saturday 25th September 2010. The wedding ceremony was in the village Church in Wimbish, just outside Saffron Walden, and the reception took place at Leez Priory, a beautiful wedding venue, set in the heart of the Essex countryside. Yesterday I was very concerned about the weather as it was raining and really windy all day, so I am so glad the weather held for Sarah and James. It was a bit cold, but at least no rain! James stayed at the Swan in Thaxted the night before, so I met up with him and the lads for a few pictures first. Sarah got ready at her parents house in Wimbish. I photographed Sarah’s sisters wedding a few years ago, so it was lovely to see some familiar faces. Anyway, the ceremony was perfect and we all headed over to Leez Priory shortly afterwards. Set in wonderful grounds and stunning gardens, Leez Priory is a fantastic wedding venue with lots of opportunities for great wedding photography... The wedding ceremony was at the Catholic Church at Buckden Towers, and the reception took place at Longstowe Hall, Cambridge’s most beautiful wedding venue. I met up with John and the boys at Wyboston Lakes Hotel, where they had stayed the night before. After a few pics here I went over to meet with Hannah at her parents house in Buckden. Hannah looked stunning, as did the bridesmaids with the beautiful Autumn tones of the dresses and flowers. The church was only a few minutes from the house and we all enjoyed a very light hearted ceremony conducted by a lovely and amusing priest, if only all clergy were like him ;-). Anyway after a few family photos we left for Longstowe Hall, a privately owned mansion house in Cambridgeshire. Whilst the weather did get rather gloomy I got some lovely photos of the happy couple and a few informals of the guests. Congratulations to Hannah and Daniel on their wedding day on Friday 10th September 2010. The wedding ceremony was at All Saints Church, Cottenham and reception took place at Longstowe Hall, Cambridge’s most beautiful wedding venue. The day started with Daniel and the boy’s at his mums house in Cambridge. Although it was raining we managed to get some cool shots before I went to meet with Hannah who got ready at her Mums in Over. Fortunately the weather gave in and cleared up, a relief for Hannah as she was quite concerned about it! After the preparations I took some lovely shots of the girls before going to the Church. After the ceremony we took some family shots and then moved on to Longstowe Hall. Even though it wasn’t sunny, we got some great photos. It is actually better for photography if the sun is not shining as you do not have to worry about the harsh shadows the sun can cause, and the fact that people squint a lot when its too bright! Congratulations to Rosalind and David on their wedding day on Sunday 5th September 2010. The wedding ceremony and reception took place at Longstowe Hall, Cambridge’s most beautiful wedding venue. Ros got ready at her friends house in Swaffham Bulbeck. She wore the most beautiful Ian Stewart wedding gown and looked stunning. After a few shots of Ros, I headed over to Longstowe Hall and met with David before the ceremony. The marriage takes place inside the very historic Longstowe Hall, such a romantic setting with beautiful lighting and wonderful works of art on the walls. The ceremony was very light hearted with some entertaining readings and a wonderful acoustic performance by one of the guests. Drinks and canapes were served while we took some great shots around the grounds. Wedding photography is always such a joy at Longstowe as there are lots of places to take great photographs. After some pretty miserable weather over the bank holiday, everyone was please to see some warmer, calmer weather! I met up with the boys at the church early for some team photos so they could get a drink it at the local before the wedding. Hayley got ready at her parents home in Haverhill. With shoes by Jimmy Choo, an Ian Stewart dress, and fragrance by Vera Wang, she looked a million dollars! Although fashionably late for the service, everything went without a hitch. August has been a strange month weather wise. On Thursday it rained, then drizzled and stopped then rained again... but the weather wasn’t going to stop Emma and Steve enjoy their stunning wedding at this beautiful wedding venue. In addition I wasn’t going to let a little rain get in the way of capturing some great wedding photographs for this lovely couple. The grounds are just stunning and everywhere you look there are photo opportunities. The rooms that they got ready in were very stylish and enabled some nice indoor window lit portraits. Congratulations to Gemma and Ashley on their wedding day on Saturday 21st August. The wedding ceremony took place at St Andrews Church, Stapleford. Drinks, canapes, beautiful wedding photographs, dinner and a big party were on the cards at the reception. The most stunning cambridgeshire wedding venue, Longstowe Hall, Cambridge. The preparations for both Gemma and Ashley were a stones throw apart in Sawston, which made a welcome change. The wedding ceremony was just down the road in Stapleford, a lovely church with very pretty grounds. Fortunately there was plenty on room at the front of the church for me to get some discrete shots during the important moments. After a few family pictures at the church, we left for Longstowe Hall. This private wedding venue has the most stunning gardens and photo opportunities, which is why I love working here. Gemma and Ashley had a great day and were so lucky with the weather, although it was quite breezy we did not see one drop of rain, surprising considering the forecast was heavy rain! Congratulations to Nicola and Adam on their wedding day on Friday 13th August. The wedding ceremony took place in All Saints Church, Hartford just outside Huntingdon. After the wedding ceremony we headed back to my favourite cambridgeshire wedding venue, Longstowe Hall, Cambridge. The day started for me photographing all the details at Nicola’s parents house in Hartford. Then across town I went over to meet with Adam and the boys. After a few shots here it was back to Nicola for some portraits of her, the bridesmaids and parents. Even though the heavens opened, there was a small window of opportunity when the sun came out. The weather was changeable to say the least! After a lovely ceremony we managed to get the family photos done at the church. There was too much chance of being rained off later I wanted to get them done whilst it was dry, even then a few brolly holders were required! We then left for Longstowe Hall. This venue is so lovely with so many places for couple photos, inside and out, it really doesn’t matter what the weather is doing. Having said that the sun shone for this lovely couple. Congratulations to Amelia and Gregor on their wedding day on Sunday 8th August. The wedding ceremony took place in St Mary’s Church, Barking just outside where Amelia grew up in Suffolk. After the wedding ceremony we headed back to one of my favourite wedding venue’s in Suffolk, Hintlesham Hall near Ipswich. I met with Gregor and the boys at Hintlesham quite early on for some shots with him, the best man, and some of his good friends who were all dressed in uniform for the occasion. Amelia got ready at her parents home in Suffolk, where she grew up, so her home was very special for her. The church was one of the oldest I have seen, set right back from the road with pretty trees all round. After a lovely ceremony the happy couple came out under the guard of honour and then we headed back to Hintlesham Hall. I took some great pictures in and around Hintlesham Hall whilst we waited for the guests to arrive. This was followed by drinks, a few family pictures and then dinner. The last time I photographed a wedding at Hanbury Manor was about 10 years ago, so I was really pleased to be going back there. It has so much character, in such a stunning setting, with a fantastic golf course too! Sharon and Mark both got ready here, and breaking with tradition we did some pictures of them both before the wedding too. There ceremony wasn’t until 4.30pm, which was just as well, as there was plenty of rain between 2 and 4... Sharon and Mark’s children were a big part of the day and everyone looked fantastic as either bridesmaids or best men. After a few downpours in the morning, the weather was very kind to Cassandra and Brett for their wedding day. I met Brett at his Mum’s house in Burwell, literally a stones throw for me... After a few shots of him and the best men I went over to Newmarket where Cassandra was getting ready. This must be a first, as she was completely ready when I arrived, which made a welcome change! The ceremony was in Cheveley, which I was familiar with as I had photographed a wedding here only a few weeks earlier. We headed straight back to Swynford Paddocks afterwards to photograph the family groups and for some photographs of the happy couple. Congratulations to Giovanna and Costa on their wedding day on Sunday 25th July. The wedding ceremony took place in at St Joseph’s catholic church in St Neots, just outside Huntingdon with the reception at one of my favourite wedding venues, Longstowe Hall, Cambridgeshire. I met up with Costa and his Best man at a hotel nearby which stood near an industrial estate. It was great to get some sharp lines into the photography to create some really funky shots of Costa. Next I went round to see Giovanna who looked absolutely stunning even before she had her wedding gown on!! After taking some beautiful photographs here I left for the church. The service was lovely and took place in one of the most colourful churches I have seen, so perfect for the happy couple. Soon after we went on to the stunning reception venue, Longstowe Hall, which is delightful. I photographed the family groups here and took some wonderful romantic shots of Giovanna and Costa in the beautiful surroundings of this privately owned home. The day started at Oliver’s mum’s home in Cheveley, such a pretty house just set back from the church. After doing a few photographs here, I headed over to meet Farah who was getting ready at the Bedford Lodge. Farah had her two lovely bridesmaids to help her get ready, although I found myself helping too!! It was great to bump into Tolly who is a fantastic florist who always pulls out all the stops for his couples. The ceremony was at 2pm and Farah arrived in style in the most amazing Rolls Royce. Congratulations to Louise and Matt on their wedding day on Saturday 3rd July. The wedding ceremony took place at a beautiful church in Ayot St Peter, Old Welwyn, Hertfordshire. The reception was also in Hertfordshire at the very historic mansion house wedding venue, Theobalds Park near Cheshunt. I met up with Matt and the lads at his Mums house in Stevenage on another scorcher of a day, especially for England! Matt had a beautiful Aston Martin to drive to the church, so I just had to get some shots with the car. I then went on to Louise’s parents, just across town where her and all the bridesmaids were getting ready. I got some great pictures of the girls before heading over to the church. This has to be one of the most beautiful churches I have seen, just so different and set in lovely gardens.... After the service we go on to Theobalds Park, a wonderful mansion house set in enormous parkland. There was some great photo opportunities with some lovely grounds, so I can’t wait to show the new Mr & Mrs all the shots when they return from honeymoon..... Photographers from Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia attend I was invited by Nikon in Estonia to give a talk on professional wedding photography to photographers from Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. I gave a background on my photography business and explained how wedding photography works for me in Cambridge where I am based. The seminar was sponsored by Nikon as well as some other local businesses. The talk went down really well and 1 hour wasn't really enough! Had it have been up to the delegates, I think they would have let me talk all afternoon.... but I was also there to judge their "Wedding Photographer of the Year" award. Mark talks about wedding and portrait photography Wedding and portrait photographer, Mark, talks to photographers from Baltic countries This prestigious competition is run by Jana Sarglep and celebrates its 10th year anniversary this year, and attracts professional wedding photographers from all of these three countries. Even though they have fairly small populations, they do their fair share of wedding photography and I was delighted to have been asked to be one of the UK judges. I was accompanied by two other UK photographers, Steve Tarling and Denis Orchard, both who specialise in wedding photography, and also three other more local professional photographers with a range of disciplines, from fashion to PR and commercial. An intense day of judging over 300 professional wedding images Judges from the UK, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia With the top prize from Nikon being the amazing Nikon D3S professional digital camera, there were around 300 images to judge, which appeared in various categories. Reportage Wedding Photography, Bride and Groom Wedding Photography, Bride or Groom only photography, and Detail Wedding Photography. Whilst we had a great system for judging, unfortunately we were let down by technology and ended up having to turn to a manual voting system. With 6 independent judges, there were often different views and opinions and the whole process took a lot longer than we anticipated. The whole wedding including Rachel and David’s preparations, the ceremony and reception took place at the lovely cambridge wedding venue, the Doubletree by Hilton, in the heart of Cambridge. I arrived early to photograph all those little details I just love to include in the final album, the dress, shoes, perfume, the rings and flowers etc. Rachel was very chilled out and actually wondering what to do with herself!! Then after taking some shots of David and the lads, with and without beers, the ceremony followed at 2pm. We took the groups inside, as the weather was a bit on the chilly side, however we did manage to get some great shots of the happy couple in the hotels beautiful gardens. After taking some great shots of Elisa with her parents and bridesmaids, I left for the church. Elisa got to the church on time, but her bridesmaids didn’t! They were about 10 minutes late...so we waited. Father Michael gave a lovely service and the church looked amazing filled with sunshine. Exciting News! I have recently been asked to present my wedding photography and business skills to photographers based in and around Tallinn, Estonia at the end of May. Nikon Europe are sponsoring the event, which will also involve a print competition that will be judged by myself, Steve Tarling and Denis Orchard, who are also very talented and respected wedding photographers from the UK. The prize fund for the competition is said to include a Nikon D3S. It is expected that over 100 talented wedding and portrait photographers will be attending from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Shelly and Tim’s wedding was a small intimate celebration with a civil ceremony at this beautiful country wedding venue, an ideal backdrop for an Autumn wedding. The weather was just as you would expect the perfect October day, crisp, still and sunny! Shelly got ready with her bridesmaids at the hotel and Tim arrived nice and early so I could do some great photographs before the wedding. The ceremony room was decorated with little candles and a black and white theme with the seating. Still I much prefer to be early and given the fine weather it was lovely to wonder round and search for photographic locations. Both Sara and Chris got ready at Notley Abbey, which made my job easier to catch all the preparations. The ceremony went really well and we were able to take most of the photos outside. The close-up magician was fantastic leaving everyone guessing “just how did he do that?” After the group photo everyone went through to dinner which was set in a beautiful 13th century stone barn (originally the Monks' Refectory) preceded by the speeches. I am thrilled! I have just come back from the Master Photographers Association (MPA) National Awards Ceremony in Newcastle, and not only come away with 6 awards of merit, which are given for images considered to be of a superior standard, but also Winner of the Mario Acerboni 3 from 1 wedding category. Entries came from all over the country and my images taken of Natalie and Jason’s Wedding at Audley End in Essex were selected as the winning images for the East Anglian region. After a few fun shots in the neighbour’s garden I headed over to Bluntisham where Caroline’s parents live for the preparations. Caroline looked fantastic in her beautiful Ian Stewart wedding dress and beautifully complimented by her gorgeous bridesmaids. The happy couple met when they were at Kings School together, which permits a wedding ceremony at the Cathedral. As you will see from the preview the Cathedral is absolutely stunning, and the perfect place to marry. After a few family photos we headed to a wedding venue called The Red Barn just outside Downham Market in Norfolk. This old barn has loads of character and with all the tables dressed and candles lit it feels so romantic. I met up with the boys at College quite early and got all their shots in the bag before 10.45am - impressive for a 12.30pm service. Although Liz was a little delayed we still managed to “get her to the church on time”. The ceremony was fantastic with friends singing in the choir that was also conducted by Jon’s father. A choir in a college chapel really does sound amazing - I have heard a few and it still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up! A beautiful wedding in our local church saw the marriage of Rebecca and Andrew. Having lived in the village for almost three years, this was the first wedding I have photographed at Burwell Church. I am delighted! Yesterday I attended a day seminar delivered by multi award winning photographer and chairman of international judging - Kevin Wilson FMPA, FBIPP, FRPS. He gave a great talk about wedding and portrait photography and judged the print competition in the afternoon. The entries came from all over London and Essex and there was lots of strong images. Hi Everyone I have just come back from an amazing four days at the SWPP convention in London - the largest of its kind in Europe. I gave two talks to many photographers across the UK, Europe and the US. I was sharing 15 years of my experience in the industry of wedding and portrait photography. We were packed out with people standing and sitting on the floor - we even had to turn people away! Our talks were all about how we ensure the best customer service, offer consistent high quality photography, and receive testimonials from most of our clients. Face of Cambridge 2008 - Winner

Our many congratulations go to Susie Diver, our winner of the Face of Cambridge competition 2008. Launched in the Style magazine, the competition has been very popular bringing us many faces to photograph over the last year. I visited Debbie Tweedie, the editor of Style, last week for her to pick a winner for us. “All the pictures were fantastic, so much variety. Our magazine follows fashion carefully and it really shows that our readers are style conscious. Together with Mark’s great fashion photography, I found it very difficult to select a winner.” With the help of some of the other girls on Debbie’s team, we settled on Susie’s picture. “Her eyes in this image are just amazing, and such a natural expression, we just kept coming back to this photograph”, says Debbie. Susie has won £500 worth of photography from us and is delighted to win. Check out the Style magazine in February for a full article and story. Clare & Simon's Wedding - 21 June 2008

Our warmest regards go to Clare and Simon on their wedding at the Village church in Swineshead, Bedfordshire and reception at Longstowe Hall. The day started so wet that I brought three umbrellas, raincoats and my wife, Kirsty, to help on Saturday. It had forecast rain all day but I can not believe how lucky we were. The wedding was at 12.30pm and the rain stopped at about 12pm, but a very important guest got lost and so the ceremony was delayed by 25 minutes! I wouldn't have liked to be in Simons shoes - although he was told that it wasn't Clare holding up the proceedings. Anyway the rain stayed away for the family photos, and we made our way to Longstowe. I was able to get some great shots of the newlyweds after the guests made their way to the marquee. Everything was perfect - Hilary and Mark make such a wonderful couple, and even the weather was nice to everybody. Catherine and Luke's Wedding - 14 June 2008

Our very best wishes go to Catherine and Luke on their special day at Longstowe Church and afterwards at Longstowe Hall. The day started at the Belfry Hotel in Cambourne, where at 12.26 there was a fly pass of the Battle of Britain that was on its way to the Queens birthday celebration. After Catherine's preparations we went on to the beautiful church at Longstowe village. With a full Guard of Honour, Catherine made a grand entrance to a very memorable service. After the service the happy couple walked down to their drinks reception which was effortlessly hosted by Mr and Mrs Bevan. A wonderful meal was served and the speeches were made bewteen each course - a really great way of breaking up what can often be quite drawn out. Everyone had a great time and the evening saw everyone Kayleigh (sp?) dancing... a truly spectacular day! WOW what a party Jenny had on Saturday night. The West Wing at Ickworth House along with many other professionals pulled out all the stops for an amazing Birthday celebration for Jenny. After a champagne reception came dinner followed by singing waiters and a fantastic Beatles tribute act. The party continued to the early hours and everyone had a great time. Congratulations to Jo and David on their wedding at Quy Mill, near Cambridge on Friday. During an intimate civil ceremony at this little hotel just outside Cambridge Jo and David were married on a lovely warm day. After arriving back from the hairdressers a little later than planned Jo was assisted into her dress by a very proud mum and, probably one of the most helpful bridesmaids I have every seen on wedding day. On a very hot day, a small crowd many of which were little ones gathered to celebrate Sade and John's special day. Sade's Nigerian roots meant that her father wore traditional dress for the day, and many of her other relations wore such colourful clothes. Congratulations to Jemma and Paul on their wedding in the beautiful City of Cambridge on Friday. What a fabulous way to start the bank holiday weekend! A very grand church in Cambridge was the venue for the ceremony, and I am glad my wife was available to drive for me as we all know how bad the parking is in Cambridge. Jemma arrived with plenty of time to spare, and boy was Paul pleased to see her. After a de tour due to a big accident on the A14 I eventually got to Swynford Paddocks, a fantastic venue in Six Mile Bottom. I love working here as the staff are great and Neil does such a fab job for every couple that celebrate their wedding here. Here is a sneak preview of some of the images of the day. Hi and congratulations to Karen and Ben on their wedding on Saturday. After the bad weather we had the week before, we really were lucky in Suffolk at the weekend. Although not very warm, we were blessed with a dry and overcast day, which actually makes it easier for better pictures, as you do not have to worry about all those shadows and squinty eyes! It has been a while since I have been to Haughley Park Barn, and what a place it is. Ellie kindly showed me round in the morning (sorry for surprising you!) and kindly let us use the grounds nearer the house for pictures. Hi Everyone Well I had a great time at Jo and Jason's wedding on Valentines Day. The weather was a bit chilly after all the sunny days we had, but everyone knows that an overcast day is usually better for photography. Jo surprised Jason with a Classic car for the ride back to the reception, although she was a bit worred when it had not arrived at the house after I left. After seeing it on my way to Cambridge I gave her a call just to re assure her! We got some awesome pictures around the entrance to Kings School grounds where she went to school. We then walked along Pea's Hill to the river and finally to Peacocks, where they had the reception. What a lovely intimate wedding. Here is a snippet from the day. You and Your Wedding Front Cover!

Amazing News! There was recently a competition held by the MPA (Master Photographers Association) and You and Your Wedding magazine to obtain the best most eye-catching image for the front cover of their annual professional wedding photography supplement. I am delighted to have won such a fantastic opportunity. There was lots of entries, by many of the leading wedding photographers in the country. To have work featured within publications like this is prestigious, but to have the front cover is for most photographers, unheard of! As soon as I get the copy of the magazine, I will post on the site....

Face of Cambridge 2008

The Face of Cambridge competition 2008 is a fantastic opportunity to have an amazing portfolio of images taken by one of the country's leading photographers. Launched in February with Style Magazine, the Face promotion will also help to raise money for Breast Cancer. For this nominal amount, you will experience a one hour professional and individual make-up and hair session. After your transformation, there is a one hour photo shoot. A whole variety of pictures will be taken, some black and white, some colour, and some with using the latest fashion style techniques. After your shoot, you are invited back to see your pictures. During the preview session you can select your favourite for the competition and order images for yourselves. Pictures are available as prints, high resolution images on disk and wall art. SWPP Conference

Last year, I was asked to give a talk at the biggest annual photographers convention in Europe. The five day event in January 2007 was in Hammersmith, London. Obviously I was delighted to have been asked, and am very proud to be associated with such a major event on the industry’s calendar. My seminar was a great success and we had a packed room, with lots of positive feedback.... “I wanted to say how much I enjoyed your seminar at the SWPP convention. You clearly have a talent as a speaker as well as a photographer; informative, entertaining and knowledgeable.
