Quick note today to share something cool that I just discovered on Google.

As you would imagine, I do my best to work search engine optimization into my internet marketing efforts. I’m a big fan of paying $0 for my advertising.

So I’m very excited to share with you that as of today (and who knows for how long, because I just checked this morning), Google has determined that TeleseminarFormula.com should be your first choice to go to for “best teleseminar training.” (Search done without the quotes)

Screenshot taken on July 11, 2009 - not logged into any Google account

This may change over time, of course, but I’ve also checked Bing.com and Yahoo.com with similar results in the top 5.

You should also know that I’m a big fan of Alex Mandossian’s Teleseminar Secrets Program. In fact, I recommend it to the graduates of Teleseminar Formula because Alex does a great job with advanced strategies - especially in the area of doing “Tele-Sell-inars”.

But for those getting started with their first teleseminars, I’ve been focused on providing the best teleseminar training available, and (at least for now), Google agrees with me.

Bob Jenkins

p.s. Do you agree with Google’s ranking above? Share your experience with my training or those of other teleseminar trainers like Alex Mandossian, Kathleen Gage, Michael Cage, etc.

As one of the leading teachers for teleseminar hosting and product creation, I get asked a lot of questions.

And one of the questions that I get asked most frequently is: I don’t like to “sell” - can I still do teleseminars?

This is a great question, although it’s very frustrating to hear it. The question comes from a mistaken belief that all teleseminars must result in “selling” something at the end of the call. No surprise, really - 90% of the teleseminars we get invitations for are like this.

But out of the 300+ teleseminars I’ve done over the last 2 1/2 years, “tele-SELL-inars” make up about 15% of my own calls.

Let me share 5 other types of teleseminars you can do today that don’t rely on you doing a big pitch at the end of your call - yet can still result in bigger profits and growth in your business.

Question and Answer Teleseminar

Interview An Expert Teleseminar

Be Interviewed Teleseminar

Bonus Teleseminar

Product Consumption Teleseminar

1. Question and Answer Teleseminar

This is my favorite type of teleseminar for people doing their very first call - especially if you are a service provider or attempting to get known for a particular specialty.

With this type of teleseminar, you simply answer common questions people have about what it is you do. Questions can be made up by you, or supplied by people you know personally (friends, family, colleagues) or remotely (Twitter, Facebook, email list).

Jump on the phone, and answer each question completely. Typically you can do a 45-60 minute call with just 5 questions.

2. Interview An Expert Teleseminar

This is a very common type of teleseminar that usually ends with a pitch. But it certainly doesn’t have to. Simply having the conversation with an expert gives you credibility that you can leverage over time.

Plus if your call is good enough, the interview itself (and the resulting transcripts) can be packaged together to sell.

Not sure if you can get an “expert” on the call, or why they would participate?

First of all, it never hurts to ask.

Second, you don’t need the #1 expert in the field to be your expert. Simply someone who is more known than you is a “big enough” expert to work with for your initial call.

3. Be Interviewed

On the flip side of course is where you get to be an expert.

Unfortunately, most of us (myself included back in the day) don’t think we have enough experience or expertise to carry the “expert” or “guru” status.

But as my friend Carrie Wilkerson told me one day, “Every fourth grader is a god to a third grader!” (I think she heard that from her dad - not sure).

So as long as you can share your knowledge to people who want to know what you know, you’re all set.

You don’t have to claim to be the #1 expert, nor should you claim some mantle in an area where you have no real knowledge at all.

But if you can help others understand something, they’ll love you for it.

4. Bonus Teleseminar

This is one of my favorite types of teleseminars for affiliate marketing. In exchange for people purchasing a product recommendation through your affiliate link, you give those buyers a bonus teleseminar.

This could take the form of a call you do with the product creator, or a teleseminar related to the benefits the product has. You can also take previously recorded teleseminars and package them together as a bonus.

5. Product Consumption Teleseminar

Another excellent affiliate marketing teleseminar is do hold a teleseminar (or series of calls) for buyers of a product to help them consume the product.

This is especially good when the product creator has an awesome product, but perhaps no ongoing support for it. Your call(s) serves as a way to hold your buyers accountable to taking action.

Plus, you get better connected to that audience and find out what else is missing that you can either provide yourself, or recommend.

These are just 5 out of many types of calls you can do right away. Don’t worry about how many people will listen live.

Use them as experience builders, turn the recordings into your own products, and watch your momentum continue to grow!

You can learn a lot more about these 5 types of teleseminars and many others at TeleseminarFormula.com. I’ll not only give you the different formats, but also how to run the technical pieces to put it all together into a complete business system.

Build a list, build a list, build a list…

Seems like all you hear these days about growing a business is how you have to build a list. Do you hear that too?

Lists come in many shapes in sizes. You’ve got your tire-kickers who just want all your free stuff. The customers who want to get what you promise them. And your raving fans who want everything you’ve got.

You also have your followers on Twitter, Facebook, and other social media. Then you have your subscribers to your blog’s RSS feed.

The question becomes, how can you build your list quickly in a time when getting people’s attention is increasingly difficult?

The answer: set yourself apart from the “everybodys” and become an authority on what you know. To me, the fastest way to do that is with teleseminars because in 1 hour you can have a conversation answering people’s questions so they can quickly…

know you know what you’re talking about (credibility)

get connected to your voice (emotions)

realize that you attract attention from other people (social proof)

This is a winning combination, and you don’t have to be the very best - just the best they know about and can connect to.

So here are 5 steps to building your list with teleseminars.

Talk about a topic you know well

Set up your traffic net

Build buzz about your live event

Deliver great information

Give away part or all of the replay forever

1. Talk about a topic you know well

You can’t show off your expertise if you sound like a blubbering idiot. So make sure that you’re talking about stuff you’re excited about, and that you know pretty well. If you’re not sure what that is just yet, ask around. Your friends, family, and colleagues will tell you what they come to you for.

You can also talk about products and services that you’ve used in the past that you know well. This is a great way to grow first through affiliate marketing, but still grow your list centered around you.

2. Set up your traffic net

The technology must help you automate the process of building your list. So that means you need a page online to describe your call, and a registration (i.e., opt-in) form to collect email addresses to add to your list.

You can use your blog pages and posts to be your landing page if you want. Or you can set up a squeeze page separately (Matthew Glanfield’s Your Squeeze Page System is a cool way to go if you’re just starting out).

Personally, I like to recommend that people use the Instant Teleseminar system to do their landing pages, which also show off the replay, too. Then use a hover-pop to collect email addresses to your autoresponder.

Whichever landing page idea you use, I suggest using Aweber for the email database. They rock, plain and simple; and I rely on them to help me manage my list of 30,000+.

3. Build buzz about your live event

Once your event is set up, you need to attract attention to it. Spread the word as wide and far as possible, but make your event itself something specific and unique that people will want to attend.

Use your existing list if you have one. Borrow other people’s lists by having them tell their subscribers about you (in exchange for money, bartering, promo later, sponsorship on the call, etc.).

Don’t forget Facebook and Twitter. Use these and other social media events to let the news of your event go viral.

4. Deliver great information

Truthfully your first calls will be your worst calls - especially in terms of attendance. So the real list building secret is to make those that do show up extremely excited that they did so.

List building is a combination of finding new subscribers and keeping existing subscribers happy so they stick around.

During each call, make sure you connect with your audience by delivering what you’ve promised.

Then give them the power to spread the word. Encourage them to tweet about the call, and respond to those that do.

You want to build a reputation of over-delivering on content, and not become known just as someone who wants to sell stuff.

5. Give away part or all of the replay forever

Once the call’s done, you’ll build your list forever by keeping the replay up. Let those that listen later pass it along to others, and put a link or opt-in box on the replay page for people to be notified of when your next call is going to be.

The seeds of your next call should be planted in each previous one.

You may also want to sell part of your call, or sell the transcripts - then set up an affiliate program to incentivize your members to spread the word.

Follow these 5 steps, and you should see your list building efforts become more fun and profitable!
