Start with a shower and shave

Wear something sporty

Do your best thinking today

Mingle in the cafeteria

Try to fit in with your coworkers

And then, of course, the proverbial "Have a Nice Day!"

Dear friends,

Now I know we all have a lot to do, so the Cheezeburger cat is just to play a little. We all have a lot to do, but having a lot to do requires a certain amount of escaping down a rabbit hole once in awhile.

Three high powered bloggers - CAT CHAT with Cody & Caren, DAKOTA'S DEN, and most recently Ann at Zoolatry are sharing a suggestion to make things easier.

All three agree one of the easiest ways follow a blog is to "follow by email". Many of us check email more than blogs. "Follow by email" puts it right in front of us - to check, reply, save, or whatever. No burden on you, and quicker and easier on your visitors.

Ann tells us to "go to your LAYOUT on Blogger, click on ADD A GADGET on your sidebar; the FOLLOW BY EMAIL gadget is just 3rd or 4th down on the list ... click to add it. You're done! You've provided a quick and easy way for your friends to get your latest blog updates if they choose to do so."

How cool is that?

Dog adoption from the dog's point of view

Many people go to rescue shelters to adopt dogs. Do they look at the adoption from the dog's point of view? Author Elaine Marlier’s book, ‘Without A Home, Inspiring and heartfelt tales of dog adoptions’, will give you that look inside the minds and hearts of those dogs finding themselves in a new situation – life at an animal shelter.

Yogi, Jackie, and Sal have amazing stories, too. All five shelter dogs have a story, and their new humans were drawn to them because it. The combination of Marlier’s words and the soulful portraits by artist, Judith Angell Meyer, will go straight to your heart.
This is a small book and easy to read for all ages. An education for readers young and old, this book offers a wonderful insight into five dogs whose lives were changed. Be it destiny, fate, or magic, Marlier excels at writing the details of their adoptions and the little twists and turns that brought them together with their new humans. It is just simply meant to be.

Rescue Teams Respond to Colorado Wildfires

Dear Friends,
You may or may not know this, but I was born and mostly raised in Colorado. This past week we watched in horror the tragedy of wildfires burning homes and businesses of friends and acquaintances. When disaster strikes, there are no strangers.

Responding to the national wildfire disaster, as well as assisting our satellite partner in Colorado, North Shore Animal League America deployed its emergency rescue team to work together with National Mill Dog Rescue in an effort to save the lives of displaced animals due to the fires in Colorado.
The team set up their Mobile Rescue Units loaded with food, medicine, and supplies, as a temporary shelter to care for pets of evacuated residents until it is safe for them all to return home. The North Shore Animal League is committed to helping them through these tragic times.

“The emergency rescue team will also transport animals to our national adoption headquarters in NY, if necessary. This will open up more space for animals displaced by the wildfires. This helps reduce the chance that lost animals will be euthanized, and ensures that as many owners as possible will be reunited with their pets when the crisis is over.” For the animals, J. John Stevenson, President.

Please consider sending help as they continue to respond quickly and save the lives of innocent animals during natural disasters. No amount of help is too small. Learn more about their rescue efforts.

Tripping safely

It seems to happen every year. Kids are out of school and the family is busy finding things to do. Many families load up the car for a day at the beach. Other families load up the car and hit the road for one of those ‘are we there yet?’ trips. Some pets even get to fly up in the air to their destination.

We all have varying degrees of excitement and dread. Did you know the humans share a little of that too? The best way to ensure a good trip is to make sure all safety precautions are in order.

Take time to review 'Traveling with Your Pet', by Bob and Cinnamon on their Play Safe Dogs Blog. They even have an incredible, downloadable travel form with all sorts of great information. The humans can fill it out for you. The more specific the information, the better it is for the pets in case of just about any kind of emergency.

Have you ever heard the expression, the more you are prepared for an emergency the less likely it is to happen? Do you think that is true? Please do not find out the hard way and have a wonderful family vacation trip!
