1. Saving your spare change in banking apps – With modern banking Apps like Revolut Or Chase you can save your spare change in a seperate account this will build up over time and then you can take this money out and use it for investing.
2. Rewards system many Apps and companies have a rewards system that pay you money for referrals, this means you can refer people to companies or apps etc that are really good and get paid for it in the process, then instead of spending this money you can save or invest it in income producing assets.
3. Cashback when you shop – some companies bank accounts and credit cards offer you cashback whenever you shop this means you do shopping you would have done anyway and get cashback every month instead of blowing this money on shopping or buying random things you can take this money and use it to buy income producing assets that pay out money like dividend paying stocks and shares.
4. Taking 10% or 20% of everything you make and invest it or move it into a separate account used only for investing .

Don’t just pick one type of Investment as different investments go up and down during investment cycles, what this does is shield you so if you need to sell something for some reason or to survive a financial calamity you will have some investments that have appreciated in the current market as only having one type of investment that may have gone down in your current market means you will lose money when you sell them. Last year was a crazy year so much turmoil divorce, family breakups and 23 years of marriage ended It happened in August to say I was devastated would be an understatement. For a while it broke me I had a really difficult time accepting it. Then eventually when I realised how little the people I cared for cared for me I got cured.

Where there was love feelings thought desires care there is nothing just like an ice cold stone, all those feelings of hurt victim-hood dissipated as If I had put them all into a brick and dropped it in the water to the bottom of the sea, here I am in 2026 I am the guy that I was 23 years ago albeit with a bit of wear and tear on my body and some new information on relationships.

I have had a lot of stuff to deal with and there are still a lot of changes that have to be made but there was a time a few months ago when I felt like I was sinking, thankfully due to the resilience of my body and mind I am here again ready to rebuild my life, Rebuild my income rebuild my relationships and my health and thankfully making a lot more money than I did a few months ago. 

2026 is not only going to be a New Year for me but it is going to be a completely new me in every aspect of life, And although life is no easy task I am ready for the peaks and troughs which lie ahead of me. 

Looking back on everything I have no regrets I have brought 4 Men into the the world regardless of what some of them think or feel about me I took on that responsibility and completed it, and never at any stage shied away from it which is something that many other men and fathers do not do.

Right now I sit at the dinner table alone but I also decide my own day, no more school runs, no taking my wife to work or to her friends, no nagging about what we are going to blow money on It’s just me with my own peace and inner calmness 100% Drama free. 

I am sitting here at the moment in my writing class in Belfast in peace and tranquillity writing this.

I have been busy in my day to day life and have neglected my blog for a bit but will be back again here with more stuff in 2026 I may be gone for a while but not forgotten

I walked back out of the shop to get my phone then came back in glanced again, I thought I recognised her.

A minute passes and she calls Sotiris is that you?

Yes Belinda I replied she was my first girlfriend who had asked me out when I was 19 years old.

She said to me OMG I had a dream about you last night the last time I saw you was in the BP station in Bangor 29 years ago..

We started to chat reminiscing about old times she knew things about me and reminded me about things I had long forgotten.

She remembered cooking roast beef dinner for my great auntie then bringing it in the car me braking too sharply and ending up with gravy all over us.

She remembered the day the neighbours came knocking my door because of the noise of the Peco exhaust on my Vauxhall Nova, she remembered my dad and the restaurants he had, a long blast from the past.

As i have been hearing nothing but nasty stuff from my ex wife and complaining about me she said to me Sotiri you where the best, there is nothing I could say bad about you in our relationship. Which was very sincere kind and a nice change to hear for a change.

She asked me if I had kids I told her I had 4 boys age 22,21,18 and 9 years old.

She told me she never had kids but was living with someone, it was a very interesting conversation. She is also 51 years old the same age as me, my ex wife was younger than me she was 44 Years old.

She also told me another Ex girlfriend of mine had went to her house in cloughey and was asking about me which seemed really strange how they even found her address.

I told her I had divorced quite recently it was really strange but a nice phenomenon eventually after about an hour and a half we hugged and said our goodbyes.

Roll back a year ago and I could never dreamed where I would be today I have lived and been a dad with a wife and 4 sons.

Living together eating together spending Christmas together here I am one year later and it feels my whole world has fallen apart.

My life with my wife has never been particularly smooth but we had a strong love for each other and I didn’t think it would end the way it did.

In the last two months we went from living together to my wife going to Bulgaria without me for two weeks with my son and ignoring my calls or texts for days at a time and then finally renting a flat and taking a contract for a year for her own place and moving out.

She took my youngest son and left my two other sons living with me basically abandoned the family for some imaginary freedom which she didn’t get.

It is very complicated the things going on with us but the bottom line is my family will all be spending Christmas separately this year.

Which is totally weird and completely crazy in my opinion but due to factors outside of my control thats the way it’s gonna be.

At the start of this we agreed we would continue to remain amicable and friends but yesterday we moved to a nearly no contact no communication situation.

So things seem to be going from bad to worse my other son who went to Bulgaria to live for three months will be coming back at the end of September and will be also moving in with me.

My mother who had to sell her house to pay back the mortgage will also be moving in with us so it is going to still be a pretty busy house minus my ex and my 9 year old son Xander.

To say that divorce sucks is a total understatement it has turned my whole world upside down I have not felt this amount of grief since my dad died in 2009.

Even though I didn’t do anything wrong I wasn’t the one who was unfaithful I still feel very bad and blame myself for ending up in such a horrible situation.

Nobody who has a 22 year marriage with 4 kids ever dreams of ending up in this situation. It is like my worst nightmare come true.

Someone who I once did everything with and shared the same bed nearly every night is like a total hateful stranger with vengeance and spite against me it seems totally crazy.

Who knows where the future goes from here ?

When it comes to discipline, sometimes life takes over, and before you know it  

Discipline goes out the window with today’s modern distractions, along with the normal distractions in life; getting things done that are important can often take a back seat.

I was talking with a friend of mine last night, and recently, there have been a lot of changes in my life, which at the time seemed very bad, but I am also seeing the good in them

Anyway, I was talking to my friend about when my dad died in 2009. I was in mourning, it made me feel very mortal, and as I was quite a bit overweight at the time, I stopped eating for 7 days.

After my dad died, I went to see him in the funeral home. His head was freezing like a stone. I went beside him for a couple of hours, and I said all the things I could think of that I wanted to say to him.

There were a lot of things I never thought about, as I had no idea my dad was going to die a month before, even though I had a premonition of his coffin at an NLP event three months previously, I forgot about it after that day.

It really helped me to tell him all the stuff I wanted to say, and I would recommend it to anyone to make sure they say everything they feel they missed out saying while their loved one was alive, because you never know the minute someone may die on you.

I had no idea that we had already had

Our last holiday together when I was 13

Our last dinner together was a week before he was taken to  the hospital

The last time he would have one of my sons on his lap

The last time I would drive around my hometown, Bangor, and pass by him in the car, and stop and chat

The last time we lived in a house together

The last time I was moving house, he came and helped me move my furniture

The last time we would tile a bathroom together or work in one of his Greek restaurants.

Getting back to my conversation with my friend, I discussed that for me I realised when I stopped eating for a week that I had so much more time, I couldn’t put the day in.

I realised before I stopped eating, I maybe would have spent a couple of hours in the supermarket shopping for food, then a couple of hours cooking and preparing the family meal, then you needed to clean up afterwards, though I have to be honest and say my wife did this part. So it didn’t eat into my time, and then after all that, you may spend 20 mins to an hour at the table eating your food as well.

So that could be 6 to 8 hours of your day around cooking and eating, and so far, I have only talked about one meal here.

Not breakfast, lunch, dinner, and supper like some people normally have.

Other major life distractions and time suckers.

Family chores lift in the car to and from places

Taking kids to school birthday parties, etc

Taking my wife to her work or her friend’s house.

Spending time with your wife/family, etc.

Of course, also the time spent on your work or business.

When you take all these things into consideration, it’s not hard to believe that sometimes it is hard to get time to think or plan out your life to make it better.

So when my wife and I got divorced a couple of weeks ago and she went to Bulgaria apart from the loss and thought of your 22-year marriage ending, I realised I have now got so much time to think and plan, and do new things that I didn’t used to even have the time to dream of doing.

The last week or two, I have been making lists of things that I want and need to get done, and have been doing loads as I am writing this content. I am in a weekly writing class, and the lady who runs it said the guy helping her doing her video course is cracking the whip to get her to finish it as it has to be completed by next week. 

What it makes me realise for change to take place and better things to happen, you need to get started and crack the whip too.

Hold yourself accountable, make a list and get things done, cut out social media, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and get things done, and stop wasting all your valuable, precious time

If you want to write a daily to-do list, I recommend using Google Task Manager on your phone or desktop, or Evernote, or something like that

If you are doing these tasks yourself, you may not have anyone to crack the whip at you so you will need to do it yourself.

Every time I talk about doing stuff online, blog posting, content creation, videos, my ex-wife would say to me that online stuff is finished because of AI, at one stage she had a blog that made her some extra income with very little effort.

I think there may come a stage when we become less useful than we are now online, and of course, there will be many different areas online where AI can do it better, faster, and possibly more efficiently than we humans. They will be able to clone us, etc

But for now, I still believe we are unique individuals that have our own point of view, our own outlook on life and things, and while we have that, people will want to hear what some of us have to say online.

When I hear my ex say online stuff is finished, my perspective is that she wore a lot of BS in her life, which screwed her up, and also played a big part in screwing up our marriage.

So when I hear people say making money online is dead without AI, I think they are full of BS these are the kind of lame excuses that unsuccessful people use to talk their way into their next sitting of Netflix, Amazon Prime, or Sky TV.

Instead of taking part in making their own lives better, they complain and whine and listen to these movies filled with subconscious programming.

Looking to blame someone for their misery while watching all these dream characters of theirs living their dreams.

The thing is, if you have a dream or a vision, all you need to do is pick one. For years, my ex had no dreams or visions and spent her life being jealous of mine. 

Finally, she had a dream to be young, free, and single and to have an empty house with no clutter. This week, her dream came true and she got her dream.

Our divorce papers are sent in and signed, mutually consenting to divorce.  And after her two-week holiday to Bulgaria alone as a free woman because she didn’t want me there, she will start her new life in her empty apartment 100% Clutter FREE.  Even the most negative people can get their dreams when they make that decision.

The last few weeks have been some of the hardest and worst times of my life in fact I feel like my heart has been crushed as I write this post today.

Two days ago my wife moved out took her stuff and got her own place she then proceeded to book a flight to Bulgaria for two weeks I took her and my 9 Year Old son to Dublin Airport on Thursday.

On the way back I was very tired after multiple nights of not sleeping and a total of three hours sleep that night.

I saw a layby because traffic on the road was busy and moving fast I picked a layby that was a little wider and parked off it over some loose gravel to stay away from the fast cars as possible.

I was absolutely dying of thirst too, I had just had a matcha latte to help me stay awake, I reached over for a bottle of Evian that was beside the seat and then at that moment I decided to look in the mirror and in the layby behind me I saw a white Mercedes doing over 100 MPH with 5 Guarda Police cars chasing them with their sirens on. The Mercedes was driving in layby to avoid traffic during the chase and swerved around my car in front of two lanes of traffic missing my car by millimeters.

If that was not scary enough I looked in my mirror again and saw a long vehicle swerved into layby to avoid hitting a Guarda vehicle it was again right behind me I am sure it was doing at least 60mph It swerved out and around me and barely missed my car once again.

I was on the phone during these two incidents to my mum and  I let out a scream . I thought I was dead literally I am a pro active driver and generally avoid accidents steer clear of them but with a car doing 100MPH behind me I had no time to start the engine and drive up the grass bank.  And if I jumped out the door of car I would be toast too.

Honestly I have no idea how I survived this it truly was a miracle like I said I have been having a very hard time lately with life so 30 mins later I am on the phone to my 21 year old son who is in Bulgaria he left the country due to my wife and I arguing and next thing a long vehicle pulls out in front of me it was near Newry. Next thing the back wheels of lorry start swerving all over the place one back tyre blows up and all the tyre remnants start scattering over my car.

I drove beside the vehicle pointed to his back tyres and he pulled over into the layby.

The thing is I have been told by the hospital that I could die from high blood sugar and diabetes but I surely was not expecting to be wiped out by some joyriders or an HGV this week although at times the way my life had been going lately I probably wished it.

So how matter how bad things look they could always get worse

As I write this, I have signed my divorce papers, and my wife is looking for a new place to stay.

I think when people get married and have children, they often get caught up in a life situation of being so busy raising their kids and working hard to pay for their lifestyle their marriage suffers.

After many long discussions recently with my ex, she told me that the biggest problem in our marriage was not now, but was resentment for things that had happened in the past a lot of them when we were first married.

Resentment about not getting to spend alone time together without the kids, resentment about me working too many hours, resentment about not doing certain things that she expected without me even realising what the problem was.

As someone who the last 23 years, was focused on his wife, his family his work, I now realise as a single man that there is so much of my life which I totally neglected or completely gave up on.

I stopped taking part in activities I stopped communicating with childhood friends.

I lost myself in work, spending nights driving 16-hour days working on my computer from home, keeping my business clients from all over the world happy, and helping people set up their own online businesses, payment systems, autoresponder systems, and affiliate programs for their online businesses.

This week alone I had a discussion with my ex, saying that I would like to learn to captain a boat two days later one of my best friends phoned me and said could I come with hime to collect a boat and tow it for him, as he has no towbar on his van yet. So we have planned to go out shortly in his boat for fishing.

In case you don’t think this was unusual, bear in mind my friend never had a boat and has absolutely no idea yet how to use it. 

Some other things I have decided to do with my new extra time I will have are to do a few driving tests and examinations to increase my driving skills.

Starting over again in your 50s for a man is not necessarily an easy challenge.

You are much older now so it is more difficult to get younger, attractive women

You may have some health challenges and could also be losing teeth,

You could be affected by diabetes or heart problems

You could be overweight or suffering from bone and joint health problems, too. 

A great idea which I found that helped me is that no matter how bad losing someone you love may feel when you write a list of pros and cons, you would be amazed how many pros you may find, in my case, there where far more pros than cons for being divorced, which seems completely crazy but is actually true.

Some of the things I wrote down to do for myself was 

Do the advanced driving course 

Buy a small petrol scooter and travel around the countryside

Buy an electric bike 

Captain a boat 

Listen to loud music in my house again (My ex hated music in the house)

Joining the gym and actually having some time to go as I will not be running around after other people

No more listening to moaning and depression regularly 

Not having to worry about hormonal mood swings anymore, just my own.

Plan new dreams and ideas – My wife would never take part in planning new dreams or ideas for us to do, she just complained about the things she didn’t like. I don’t have to deal with that problem anymore.
