Hey Alois.
While doing the forehand loop, when is the best time to decide and change the racket angle for the ball that is returned to you.I tend to do it while going through my swing by turning my arm and slightly releasing my wrist for power and guidance and it also allows me more time. Am I doing it right or should I change the racket angle at the beginning of the stroke only?

Blocking

Hi, Alois
Here I am after a while with some new questions. For quite some time I am interested in blocking techniques, because, I realized that it can be very effective when used in a proper way. So, my questions are these:
1. Whether it is forehand or backhand block, should the blade come in the line of the ball, or above the ball, so I could hit over it.
2. What kind of blade and rubber are the best for this technique? Should rubbers have more or less speed, more or less spin.

When learning feeling overwhelmed

Hi Alois,
I am an absolute beginner. A problem I have with learning table tennis is that there many instructions for me to do simultaneously and I feel overwhelmed. My mind can only focus on one instruction at a time.
For example, when I start to learn to hit the ball on the table tennis table, I am taught to keep my feet apart, bend my knees, hold the bat correctly, watch the ball, decide where I want to hit the ball, make sure I hit the middle of the bat, make sure my bat is facing where I want to hit the ball and don't lean back when I hit the ball (which is what I do). I feel overwhelmed and I don't know what to do.
Is it better to focus on just one aspect, such as keeping my feet apart and making sure that I master keeping my feet apart and then focus on the next skill or is it possible to focus on more than one skill at a time?
Thank you for your time and help.

TT Board Issue

Hi Alois,
I have been playing table tennis since last 1 and half years. I have a reasonably good technique for both forehand and backhand. I own Stiga Premium roller TT board at my home and its a very good board. However when I play on my office TT board my game suffers very badly. The board is new and its a 25 mm board but not ITTF approved. Most of the times we play doubles because there is lot of rush. I find that the topspin balls dont bounce consistently. Instead of bouncing it just slips off the surface very fast and the backspin balls keep very low hence its difficult to play flips during matches which I can easily play at home during matches. So my question is does board quality matter? Also what adjustments should I make in my game on this type of table or should I stop playing doubles altogether?

Drills and Pivot Footwork

Hi PingSkills, i want to ask about the footwork now
first, is it better to master all basics strokes first before learn the drills and pivot ?then can i just do the counterhit stroke for the drills and pivot as what i know is many people do the drills and pivot with topspin because i found it harder especially for the backhand topspin.
please for the answer :D thank you very much

Moving Forward after losing crucial match

I lost the crucial match in the trials for world university games. Though one country can send 5 players mine send only 2, and I was placed 3rd.
In the deciding match my opponent's backhand was a medium pimpled rubber. My backhand is also a short pimpled rubber. But when I push to her push ball started going high and she started smashing. And she served long to my backhand and I when I chopped it she was able to drop the ball unexpectingly short. I couldn't adjust to her pimple rubber that my topspins and my smashes started going out of the table.
What should be done in this sort of a match situation? What should I do to to overcome this bad loss as I had huge expectations for participating at this tournament and now I feel disappointed.
