Betting on England v Australia - 2nd Test

In MHO a single bet on a test match is madness. Trading in-play is the way to go:

Before the Toss:

England 5.3 £10.00 £43.00
Ref: Bet matched:

5.7 £5.00 £23.50
Ref: Bet matched:

At risk is £15 with an unlikely £66.50 payout. Following the magnificent start to England's innings; I traded for a green book:

Saturday Treble and Backing Spurs for Under 2.5 Goals

May Bank Holiday Saturday is always a tricky time to pick winners. For the first time in 25 years I've placed a treble bet on Tottenham, Arsenal, Man City. Multiple betting has been a disaster in the past, but this time my hopes are high. As things stand at the moment:

Tottenham 1-0
Arsenal 0-2
Man City 3-0

All three are winning!! Will this be my weekend?

Time will tell...

Spurs v West Brom Backing Under 2.5 Goals

This was my cover bet and I traded just...

Green Booked Both UEFA Cup Matches and In-Play Football for Today

The first semi-final turned out to be a real cracker with both sides going for goals. Dinamo scored first and then sat back letting Shakhtar in for plenty of shoots on goal. Although I was sat with a potential £42 win if the score went 2-0, I decided to trade and recover my stake while making a very modest profit. As it happens I was right. Shakhtar scored and the game ran out 1-1 giving a nice payout on my...

Plan Backfires When the Gunners Shoot Blanks and UEFA Cup Tonight

Basically, Manchester United scored early in the first half and hang on to win 1-0 and my Draw bet went tits-up. Desperately trying to recover at least the stake money I placed a 2-0 correct score bet with 30 minutes to go. At the time this seemed like a good idea. However, it just increased my losses and considerably reduced my overall bank. Profit and loss for this week is looking grim and I'm really in need of a few...

Chelsea Pensioners and Barcelona Buffoons Man Utd v Arsenal Tonight

You have really got to laugh at some of the reporting on last night's Barca v Chelsea match. I heard this comment on Radio 4's morning sports news update:

Excitable Reporter; Chelsea got a defensive victory last night in a nil-nil draw against Barcelona... etc etc

Defensive victory my arse! If anything 0-0 away gives a big advantage to Barcelona as an away goal in the second leg will scupper Chelsea.

This might be a bit of sour...

Last Night 0-0 and Chelsea Tonight

Yesterday's football bets ended up fairly even, although if I'd have held my nerve a £54 to £20 draw bet on Newcastle could have been made. However, I traded early for a even green book and won 8 quid when the final score ended at 0-0. The first match (Sliven v Chernomorets) also ended 0-0 but the match between FC Midtjylland v SonderjyskE was a cracker with the big outsiders Sonder winning 2-4. Again I traded early and made a...

In-Play Football Scrubbed for Today - Turning to Darts

The Betfair In-Play coupon for today shows no matches. I guess everyone has a day off after yesterday's rough-and-tumble.

Back the draw between King v Wade at 5.1 looks value and then trade In-Play when the score goes 4-4

Betfair Football Betting Today - Waste of Time and Money?

The In-Play Football List for Today

The trading chances for today are seriously limited. Out of the ten matches listed there's only one team odds-on (Barrow) all the rest seem to be priced evens or more.

Football betting at Betfair today is probably a waste of time and money.

The published start times reflect British Summer Time . However, nobody at Betfair seems to have realised that last night the clocks went forward and we are now...

Friday, Fabulous Friday - 1st Day of Spring and England Win (ish)

Yesterday's adventures at Betfair turned up some great green positions in the most unlikely circumstances.

I put a Lay bet on England in the ODI against the Windies, set the recliner to 50% and prepared to demolish a bottle of Three Rum, fresh limes and tonic water. Just recently that's the only way to watch the England cricket team mis-perform.

TEN minutes before stumps, I switched bets and traded to an England win book.

21:16 ODI Series West Indies...

Last Night - Wandering Around and Getting Stuffed

Last night's football bets were well in profit until I put a Lay on Man City to be overall winners. They won, I'm down £1.53 and what the hell?? This was drama, entertainment and a grand tragedy for AskJack bets. It could have gone either way at anytime, but it DID NOT.

Most of my UEFA predictions (pre-match) went tits-up, while I took a bath on the Darts.

This week has been hard. Next week will be a lot better;...

Nightmare 3 Days for Lay the Favourite and Trade In-Play

Things could have been oh so different had Bremen not conceded a late goal or if they had managed to keep a clean sheet. Having learnt my lesson (at great cost) regarding risk and unlikely outcomes, I traded my Bremen green book for a more balanced return should a draw happen. Well, it did very late on St Etienne scored with almost the last kick of the game and made the final score 2-2.

The last 3 days football betting...

The Gunner's Late Goal Stuffed my Lay and Swansea Fire Blanks

Yesterday's football bets followed a familiar route... downwards!

I correctly put a Lay bet on Arsenal and Hull actually scored first. I eventually traded to a green book position giving a £10 Arsenal win profits and £5 for a Hull win or draw. With 7 minutes left in the match, I traded again and switched the major profit to a drawn result with a £2.80 profit for an Arsenal win, -£2.30 for a Hull win and £10 the draw. ONE...
